Chapter 7

So, Duo and the guys talked into the evening hours then, Duo grabbed Heero's arm and dragged him out of the room. "I got something I want you to see.", Duo told him.

The two headed up the catwalk, then, past it and farther up. Heero looked at Duo smiling, "Where are you taking me?", Heero asked.

"Don't worry, it's not that much farther.", Duo replied, "I'm just showing you where I've been all this time. This place is like my kingdom and I rule over it without anyone's interference.",

"Duo, when I thought you had died I...", Heero started to say.

"I know, I was there, Hee- chan.", Duo said, still leading him up.

"Where are we, Duo?", Heero asked.

"I built all of this, this is what I've done with myself while the world passed by without me, Heero. All this except the catwalks that are down below.", Duo answered.

Duo ran along the maze of hanging bridges above the stage and soon came to a window, which he opened and walked through like it was a doorway, Heero followed. They stood on the outside of the building behind the stone carvings on a little balcony or so it seemed. Heero gasped because it almost seemed like they were on top of the world, and he held tight to Duo's hand. "You remember feeling someone watching you the first day you came here?", Duo asked.

"Yes, I was just coming up to the door, and then I felt someone was watching me that day.", Heero replied.

"I was, from here I saw you that day you came.", Duo replied.

"You were the one who was watching me?", Heero asked.

"But, I didn't realize it was you, Heero.", Duo replied.

"Duo?", Heero asked.

"Yes, Heero, what is it?", Duo asked, looking concerned.

"When are you going to take off your mask and let me see you?", Heero asked, "I know you're scared but....",

"But what, Heero?", Duo questioned.

"I won't care what you look like, you're still my koi, Duo and I won't care what you look like ever.", Heero replied.

"I- I'm not sure I could.", Duo muttered, "If I do, will you promise not to feel bad for me? It's not painful anymore, but, but it looks as though it could be.",

"Right.", Heero replied.

Duo slowly reached up and brought the mask away from his face. Heero gasped at what he saw, but didn't say anything....
