Plight of the Unicorn
Chapter 17
The first thing he noticed as he woke was that groggy haze he had been in for the past few days. He sighed in frustration as he once again attempted to clear his head. The unicorn knew he had finally been captured. Taken along with the long haired mage.
`I sure hope Zechs is alright. I don't trust that orange haired freak.'
Their capture had visited several times. He always spoke about how he enjoyed pretty things. He had made many comments about how gorgeous the long haired male was. Heero snorted; if he had been able to focus enough he would have teleported out and kicked the ginger haired man.
The unicorn shook his head, the white mane flying everywhere.
“You are just magnificent. I'm sure you are aware of that fact.”
Heero whinnied, baring his teeth at the clear glass in front of him.
The male chuckled at the negative action. “Must you do that every time I come to visit? It really isn't befitting of an elegant creature such as yourself.”
The unicorn snorted. `Just let me out and I'll show you how elegant I can be.' He thought in annoyance.
Heero was seriously aggravated at the moment. After waiting for so long he had finally found Duo and then this had to happen. `First that psycho woman can't take no for an answer and kidnaps me, I get turned into a unicorn to escape, manage to track the love of my life down after months of search only to have him taken away shortly after. My life has definitely hit a new low.'
The unicorn blinked in surprise as he heard the slam of a door. Two men race into the room, whispering something to his captor. The unicorn couldn't help but bare his teeth in pleasure at the look of outrage on the regal man's face. `I don't know what it is but serves you right you smug bastard.'
“What do you mean you haven't found him yet? He bolted from my grasp over an hour ago! The head guard insisted that he would be able to track him without trouble. He was on the verge of passing out when he attacked me. The mansion is a maze. There is no way he would know where to go.”
The unicorn let out a loud neigh at the wonderful news.
“That's enough out of you. I want double security on the unicorn. When the others find Zechs they will come back for him. I then want every other guard out searching the forest. He was could not have gotten very far, unless he had help that is,” Treize announced.
“We believe that one of the guards may have assisted him in his escape. However we are unable to pinpoint the exact individual,” one of the men explained.
The ginger haired male nodded in understanding. “Keep me posted.”
The two guards bolted from the room, shouting orders to the men outside the room. Treize sighed as he smoothed out his hair. `I never got to touch him. I was so close but he still has some fight in him. This is truly upsetting.'
Heero couldn't help but stomp his right hoof. He wanted desperately to be free from this prison but was incredibly happy that the long haired sorcerer had managed to escape. `I don't trust Treize. He was lusting after Zechs for days. I'm just thankful nothing happened before he managed to break out.'
“Don't think you've won yet. I will find the mage and bring him back. I will have that body, I swear it. I do not let go of my possessions easily,” he remarked and with that said he left the unicorn alone with his thoughts.

The petite body leaned backwards, blue eyes shifting once again to the strong figure behind him. Trowa sighed inwardly as he locked his fingers around the blonde's smaller hand. `I told you not to worry, little one. Everything will turn out fine. My sister adores you.'
The brunette smiled at the last statement. Kathy really did think Quatre was the cutest thing in the world. Yesterday the three had talked for hours before the blonde nodded off during the conversation. His head had rested against Trowa's shoulder before his sister had suggested making him more comfortable. After several careful movements the sorcerer had been curled up on the sofa, blonde hair resting on the other male's lap.
The telepath then had to tell his sister to stop squealing in her mind because it was really loud. She had then proceeded to gush about how sweet they were together and how she had never seen her brother act that way before. The brunette couldn't really correct her since she was right, Quatre just brought out a nurturing side of him he never knew he had. Kathy then used her power of persuasion to convince her brother he had to come home so that the neighbors could meet the sweet boy.
The brunette glanced back at the horse following behind them. His sister smirked at him, thrilled at the small interaction between the couple. `You two are adorable.' She thought out loud once again, knowing her brother would pick up the comment.
Trowa shook his head. “Kathy, behave back there.”
Quatre blinked in surprise, silently asking the male what he meant.
“She keeps saying you're cute.”
The blonde blushed at the remark.
“You can't do that sweetie. It just makes you look even more adorable,” Kathy exclaimed.
Quartre's blush increased, his face turning a deep red color. Trowa laughed at the interaction, wrapping his right arm around the blonde in a hug. The sorcerer quickly turned his head, burying it into the other male's chest.
The female laughed, her smile spread wide across her face. `I'm happy that Trowa found him. Quarte is just what my brother needs.' She paused when the horse in front of her suddenly halted.
“What's the hold up?” she inquired.
The brunette frowned, lifting his finger to his lips in an indication that everyone should remain silent. He listened for a moment before turning the reigns to the left; he then led the horse passed several trees before hitting a clearing. Several yards away stood a small barn. The wood was in deplorable condition, the color long sense faded from view. It was obvious the place had not been set foot in for years, abandoned long ago.
As they stepped closer the sound that the telepath had heard earlier became clear to the others. Several soft meows emanated from the dilapidated building. Trowa carefully shifted, dropping to the ground. He then carefully helped the blonde down from the saddle as well. Kathy followed suit, taking the reigns of both the horses.
“I'm going to go in there and get them,” Trowa announced.
“Are you sure about that? The place doesn't look very stable to me,” Kathy pointed out.
“I can't just leave them in there.”
Quatre bit his lower lip as he nodded. “Just be careful.”
The brunette nodded as he gave the sorcerer a quick kiss on the cheek. He then carefully stepped into the old building, testing the floor boards tentatively before setting his full weight down. Kathy and Quatre stood together, holding their breaths as they waited for the other male to return.
“I want to call out to him, but I'm afraid I'll distract him,” the blonde whispered.
The brunette smiled as she threw her arms around the small male. `He's just too cute!'
`I heard that.' Trowa called out through his mind.
Kathy giggled. “Don't worry, sweetie. He'll be fine.”
They only had to wait a few more minutes before Trowa emerged. His green shirt was lightly covered with dust and several strands of straw were stuck to his pants. In his hands three kittens were carefully curled up against his chest. Two of the creatures were completely black and the third was black with white paws and a patch covering his left eye almost as if he were wearing at eye patch.
“Aren't they precious? How did you three get lost in there? You know that barn really isn't a safe place for you,” Kathy chided as she scooped the kittens up in her arms.
Quatre laughed as he stroked the head of one of the black animals. The kitten meowed softly, butting up against the warm hand. The other two were busy crying at Kathy, begging for attention.
“I wonder if their mother is around. I wouldn't want to take them if she were to come back looking,” the female pointed out.
Trowa glanced around the forest, taking in every noise and thought in the immediate area. “I think something might have happened to her. These kittens look like they've been alone for a few days at least. She should have returned by now.”
“Poor babies. Don't you worry, Mama Kathy will take good care of you,” the brunette murmured, giving each kitten a peck on the forehead.
Emerald eyes rolled as the telepath shook his head.
“Well at least she'll focus on them and not mother you the whole time Quarte,” he commented. The blonde giggled at the remark as Kathy stuck her tongue out at her brother.
The three suddenly paused as they heard a rustling sound from the barn. Trowa frowned, stretching his mind out.
“I missed one. He must have been hiding when I went in the first time. I'll be right back.”
Trowa turned back to the building, ducking through the walkway. The blonde focused his attention to the barn, letting Kathy handle the small creatures. He jerked his head as he heard a soft snap from behind him. Blue eyes scanned the trees, searching for the source.
“It was probably just a squirrel,” the brunette suggested.
Both gasped as a sharp crack echoed through the trees.
“What was that?” Blue eyes widened as the barn began to shake. “Oh no… Trowa get out of there!”
Suddenly the roof collapsed, causing the building to crumble.
Quatre cried out, tears racing down his cheek. “No! Trowa!!”

*blinks and glares at the muses* What the heck are you doing leaving it right there? *goes to kill them* And wow… it's been awhile since I've written this one. I started the first part and had to rewrite when I realized I was contradicting the last chapter. *shakes head* That's how bad it was.
