Chapter 8 - The Prince From the Sky

By Angel Love

Author's notes: I promised that I would bring Zechs and Relena together in the chapter and so here it is. I hope that I did a good job on the reunion. As for the comment on the prince from the sky, that is from Episode Zero, Relena's part. Zechs saves her from a rebel soldier that captures her because she is Vice Foreign Minister Dorlain's daughter. She tells him that he is a prince. He in turn tells her that if he is a prince then she is a princess. As he leaves she watches him and says that he is her 'prince from the sky'.

Standard disclaimers apply. I don't own it. Nope, nada... just the story.

Several days later, Relena awoke to Heero coming into their bedroom with a tray full of food. Sitting up, she brushed her hair out of her face and gave him a confused look. "What are you doing, Heero?"

He gave her a smile. "You are a princess and should be treated as such." He placed the tray in front of her revealing pancakes, eggs, bacon and orange juice. "Duo made it, so I am not sure if it's safe." Then he presented her with a single red rose.

Relena giggled, taking the rose, smelling its sweet scent before she gave him an equally sweet smile. "Want to share? I feel kind of uncomfortable eating alone."

He flashed her a grin and produced two forks that he had hidden in his pocket. "Already taken care of."

She laughed and shook her head. She should have known that he would already anticipate her asking him to share. He seemed to be one step ahead of her all the time. In a way it was very comforting knowing that he knew her well enough to do it.

When the breakfast was over, she pushed the tray away from them and took his face between her hands, studying it with a soft smile, her eyes sparkling.

Heero raised an eyebrow at her sudden scrutiny but didn't say a word as he rather enjoyed the light that was reflecting in her blue eyes.

The smile on her face grew a little as she sighed and answered his unspoken question. "Just looking at how handsome you are. I love you so much, Heero." She didn't give him a chance to respond because she softly kissed him.

He pulled her into his lap, running his hands down her back, deepening the kiss before he pulled away from her intoxicating lips and sighed, resting his forehead against hers. "You need to go get dressed. You should have a visitor waiting for you downstairs by the time you are done."

She pulled away from him to look at him excitedly. "A visitor? Who?"

He gave her a rather mysterious smile and shook his head. "My lips are sealed."

She grinned mischievously, trailing a finger along his jaw. "Well, we can just see about that, Mr. Yuy." She kissed him hard, igniting the fire between them.

After several hot kisses that lead to Relena lying on the bed under Heero, he pulled away from her mouth, his breathing ragged and his Prussian eyes dark with barely suppressed desire. "If you don't get into that bathroom right now, you are not going to see who your visitor is until this afternoon," he warned her.

She smiled up at him sweetly, winding her arms around him. "You can..."

He shook his head and placed two fingers to her lips, while his other hand cupped her face. "Don't tempt me, Relena. And I am not going to tell you who it is."

She pouted and rolled out from under him and walked into the bathroom, muttering about stubborn pilots and her tendency to attract them.

Heero sighed and lay on the bed for several moments, calming his raging hormones. "You owe me, Zechs," he muttered under his breath as he heard the shower turn on and visions of a naked Relena filled his mind.

Heero and Relena came down the stairs to find Wufei leaning against the wall waiting for them. She glanced at Heero, who smiled softly at her, and then she ran down the rest of the way down the steps throwing her arms around a slightly surprised Altron pilot. "Wufei!"

He hugged her back, pulling her even tighter against him. He had talked to Heero the day before and heard about her fainting spell with Duo. He also knew that Zero's pilot was keeping a close eye on his fiancé. Wufei was just glad that she was happy right now. "Hello, Relena," he greeted her in a soft voice.

She pulled back and gave him a smile, her joy and relief that he was all right showing her eyes. "I missed you."

A small blush spread across his face by the honest words and he shifted away from her, slightly uncomfortable with the unbidden warmth that spread through him. He didn't tell her that he missed her more than he wanted to admit to. He didn't want her to know that every moment he was away, he feared that she wasn't going to be well when he got back. Instead he just gave her a small smile and nodded towards the closed door next to him. "I brought back someone I think you should see."

She gave him a puzzled look. "Who?" When he just gave her a look, she sighed. "I don't know why I bother to ask you guys. You never tell me anything." She sent a glare at Heero, who just chuckled at her.

"Why do you not stop asking us who it is and go on in there and see for yourself?" Wufei suggested, reaching over to open the door for her.

Relena took one last look at Heero before stepping through the door. She was so surprised by the sight in front of her that she didn't see the satisfied looks on Wufei's and Heero's faces or even hear the door close quietly behind her. Sitting there, leaning his cheek on one hand was her brother. His long platinum hair spilled down on the cushions of the chair his was sitting on and his ice blue eyes was staring at a small picture in his hands, a picture of them as children, the one he had found when he went back to the Sanc kingdom the first time.

He glanced up when he heard the door click shut. His eyes clouded over with guilt and love for the shocked girl in front of him. He drank in her still form, her hair was pulled back in her two braids and her long flowing sundress formed over her curves, showing him that she was no longer his baby sister. She was indeed a beautiful woman now. "Hello, Relena," he greeted softly.

"Mill...Milliardo?" she stammered, not believing her eyes for a moment. Her brother was actually sitting in her living room. She talked to him about once a week since he had left with Noin to Mars, but they had not been face to face since she was on Libra.

He gave her an awkward, sheepish smile. "Wufei said it was important. In fact, when I told him that I couldn't get away he pulled his katana on me, questioning me about my honor for my family."

She laughed, picturing the Dragon of doing just that. She was sure that Heero would have done much worse, like challenge her brother to a duel over it. Then she went sober when she realized just why Wufei had been gone, she made a mental note to thank both him later for going to so much trouble for her. "It is important," she said softly, trying to find the words.

"So important that you couldn't tell me over the vid-phone?" he asked, still unsure as to why he and Noin were informed to pack several cases of clothing, since their stay on Earth was of an undetermined amount of time, especially since he had talked to her just two days before.

She slowly crossed the room and looked out the window at her gardens, avoiding her brother's eyes, but she could still feel the heat of them on her back. "Yes, it is that important," she whispered, too low for him to hear. Without turning to look at him she said in a louder voice, "Milliardo, do you remember when you hugged me when we were on Libra?"

"Yes, there is rarely I time when I think of you that I don't remember that," he answered, his voice laced in sadness over that moment. It was that moment that he wanted to reconnect with his little sister and she had been so confused by him that she had rejected him. He didn't blame her, he was a bit out of his mind during that time, but the memory still stung.

She turned to look at him, her blue eyes filled with unshed tears as they met his own. "I wish I hugged you back," she said quietly.

The lightening count felt as if a brick had dropped in his stomach. He knew that there was something seriously wrong. He had seen all of the gundam pilots when he had come in, with the exception of Heero, but he knew from Wufei that it was his former rival's idea that he should be brought to Earth. He briefly wondered if there was a terrorist group that was threatening her life, but he shrugged that off because he knew that she had resigned from being the Vice Minister so that idea didn't make any sense to him. In fact the reasoning she gave him for resigning didn't make any sense to him, he knew that she loved what she did and the likelihood of her simply burning out was very slim. He was suddenly sure that he was about to hear the truth now though.

He stood up and slowly crossed the distance between them, stopping to stand in front of her. "I wish you did too, but that is in the past Relena," he said softly. "We were fighting on two different sides, so it is understandable."

She gave him a soft, watery smile as she struggled to contain the tears that were slowly clogging her throat. "You couldn't be my big brother then, but can you be my big brother now? I really need you now."

His eyes went wide as she threw herself into his arms, burying her face in the soft cotton shirt that he wore. To his surprise her hold around his waist was strong and he felt his heart swell at the first completely loving gesture that she had shown him since they were children. But even through the tender moment he could feel the dread welling up inside him. His soldier's instinct told him that whatever was causing her the pain and grief he saw in her eyes was going to be devastating to him, but he needed to know anyways.

"Relena, of course I will be your big brother. I have always loved you," he said softly as smoothed her hair. "Now tell me what has you troubled."

He felt the arms tighten around him, heard a soft sniffle come from her. "I'm dying, Milli," she whispered, knowing that there would be no easy way to tell him.

Milliardo suddenly found it very hard to breath and he sunk to his knees with her in his arms. He cradled her to him, trying to deny the soft-spoken words that seemed to echo in his mind, crumbling his world around him. She couldn't be dying. Not after everything that they all had been through, God wouldn't be that cruel. But as she went on to tell him what was wrong with her, he knew that yes indeed God had been that cruel to him. He had finally gotten his sister back, just to be told that within a few months she would be gone again. This time he wouldn't be able to watch her from the shadows of her life; she would be gone from the glorious Earth that she loved so much. Her light and determination that he thrived upon would shine no more and there would be no more time for moments with her. He suddenly felt very angry with himself for cheating both her and him the life as a family that they both deserved.

Relena felt how stiff he had become, how tightly his muscles were drawn together. She pulled away from him to look into his handsome face. She wasn't surprised to see the self-loathing there. She had seen it the day that he hugged her and had seen it many times when they talked together on the vid-phone. But this time she could finally reach up and gently smooth the lines that his frown had made and smile softly at him, showing him that no matter what had happened in the past she still loved him. She could finally show him how much she still adored him.

"I don't care how many years that we have been apart," she said softly. "Because you showed me that you loved me even then. From the way that you saved me when we were children to all of the other times that you have made sacrifices for me. I don't care if you think your hands are blood-stained, because when I look at you I don't see any stains, I only see you, my prince from the sky."

Milliardo cupped her cheek in his hand, a sad smile crossing his face as he remembered the time he had saved her from a rebel soldier determined to end the young girl's life. "Thank you, Rele, for loving me still."

She gave him a bright smile and let him pull her back into a tender hug, with him resting his head on hers. "From now on, we live for each moment," she whispered.

He nodded his head, closing his pain-filled eyes but a single tear still fell down his face to fall in her soft hair. "I love you, Rele. From this moment on, I will make sure that I show you that I always have."

She smiled again, a few tears falling down her face. "You already have, Milli, you already have."

To be continued...

*Angel and Wufei pop up*

*smiles at him* Aww...aren't you sweet!

*Wufei: *gives Angel an annoyed look* Can we just get on with this already?

*sigh* Do your thing Fei-kun.

Wufei: *blushes at the nickname, but refuses to comment on it* Angel wants to thank everyone for the compliments. She has also appointed me as her protector against evil breadsticks.

*looks pointedly at Aki, then hugs Wufei* I love my Fei-kun!

Wufei: *rolls his eyes* Now please tell her what you think of her brother and sister reunion.

*Before Angel can say another word, Wufei covers her mouth and drags her off-screen*
