[Duo's POV]
You promised me that we'll be together. Why did you
leave? Why did you have to go and guard that bitch
Queen of the World? Didn't you know that when you
left, my life, my heart, and my soul left with you?
I loved you. I still do. And I am a fool for falling
in love with the Perfect Soldier. I should have known
that all who I love will leave me in one form or
another, promises be damned.
First it was Solo, he promised to protect me, to be
with me forever. Then he died from the plague. Then
Father Maxwell and Sister Helen, they were my parents
in my heart. They were killed in that damn massacre.
And now, you, Heero, have left me too. At least, I
can gawk from afar.
I used to think that we would be together forever.
That you have the strength to fight this curse
surrounding me as Shinigami. I guess I was wrong.
Such a fool am I.
I knock intrudes upon my thoughts. I turn to open the
door to see who it is. Speak of the Devil and thou
shall have him. You are at my door.
Your eyes speak of pain and loneliness. But I also
see longing and love hidden away from my searching
gaze. I invite you inside my home, closing the door,
waiting for you to speak.
[Heero's POV]
I take in your appearance. From afar, you seem just
fine, but I know you. You are master of hiding your
emotions behind a cheery fascade. I know I've hurt
you deeply. I hope you can forgive my mistake and
take me back. I love you so much. I know I broke my
promise, but I am willing to do anything to have you
back in my life. Relena doesn't need me like we need
each other Duo. Please, let this work. For the both
of us. We deserve a little happiness.
[Duo's POV]
He's not speaking. I guess I have the break the ice,
as always.
"What are you doing here? And don't say that you
wanted to drop by just because you were in the
neighborhood. That will not work on me." I state
emotionless.
Gods, his eyes look into mine with such sorrow. I
wonder what's going on inside his head.
[Heero's POV]
Gods, how much has he changed! He looks so broken.
How could I have done this to him. He deserves
better. I don't deserve to be with him. He deserves
someone who could treat him right. Unlike me.
I start to walk to the door.
[Duo's POV]
He's leaving? Without answering my question? I block
his way.
"Answer the question Yuy." I snarl icily.
[Heero's POV]
I guess I have no choice.
"Aishiteru. Gomen nasai for putting you through so
much pain. If you can find it within your heart to
forgive me, I will be happy. If you could take me
back after what I've put you through, I will be
honored." I say, bowing my head in defeat.
[Duo's POV]
I look at him in shock.
"Why? Why did you leave?"
[Heero's POV]
"Because I was afraid."
There, it's out in the open. Now you control me Duo.
You can do everything to me and I wouldn't fight back.

I smile, a sad smile, but a smile nonetheless.
"I'm glad you've told me. Aishiteru Hee-chan." I tell
him.
Gods, the glow in his eyes just melt my heart. I hope
this works out in the end.
[Heero's POV]
Thank those heavenly deities. Duo wants me back.
Hopefully I will not fail him again. To do so again,
I will kill myself before harming him.
