Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Reprieve ❯ Epilogue ( Epilogue )
Epilogue.
"Let's have the party on the Peacemillion!"
"Dorothy, you can't be serious…
"But I'm perfectly serious Miss Relena!"
Relena gave her the strangest look and then tossed the folder of possible resorts she had been considering in the trash bin.
"Very well. What's their number?"
"Miss. Relena, do I look like a phone book?"
Relena just snorted as Dorothy rattled off the number and they dialed. Strange, Howard looked ready to have a heart attack when they asked. In unison, with quite a high level of excitement in their voices. Together.
*
Sally and Howard stared at the phone for a long time, not sure what to think, or do. They knew only that they would have to return to earth soon if they were going to host a party.
"We could run away," Sally suggested.
"That's your professional military suggestion, I suppose?" Howard retorted. Sally shrugged.
They sighed together and headed for the bridge to see how the repairs were going. Howard grinned from ear to ear when Sally slipped her hand into his.

Drumming under his fingertips. It reverberates through his whole body and he feels himself trying to switch time to match it. A faint smile spreads over his face as he feels arms draw him closer, fingers entwining about his own.
"Relena is having a party. She wants to have it on Peacemillion, at dry-dock…on the pacific!" Duo still could not believe that little piece of information.
Wufei chuckled and wound the long braid about the fingers of his free hand. He was having as much trouble as Duo imagining the Sweepers mingling with the world's most prominent politicians, but he couldn't help but feel it would be good for them; all of them. It was about time people realized they were not that different from one another. They all had the same fears. And the same dreams.
He ran a hand over the still-too-pale flesh draped over him and marveled at the purity of it while trying to push memories of its cause out of mind. He knew Duo would never forget. He saw him looking in the mirror occasionally, or rubbing at the back of his hand. It was like a baby's flesh; as if it had never seen a day of life in the open air. Perfect.
"How long do you want to stay here?"
"I don't know," Wufei replied thoughtfully. They had been on L5 a week, just trying to get used to the fact the war was over and they didn't have to panic at every political event. Howard had the Peacemillion parked at one of he colony docks for repairs and was just letting them run rampant. It had not taken a day, however, for Wufei to realize he was no longer at home on L5. Home was the Sweeper fleet and their small empire on earth. The war, it seemed, had changed many things.
"I think I want to go home."
Duo smiled at that and sprawled his fingertips over Wufei's chest, still marveling at the heart that continued to beat beneath.
"Let's go."
And they did.

The brakes screeched, the wheels slammed to a halt and Hilde rammed the beast into the dock with a delighted squeal as the docking crew raced out of her way. They should know to avoid her by now, in her opinion. She didn't bother unloading, leaving it for later. Instead, she grabbed her pack and headed home, to the little shack of a junk yard her father had set up years before. It had suddenly taken a turn for the better, and it was back in league with an elusive group known only as the Sweepers.
There was a light on in one of the back rooms and Hilde followed it, leaning against the doorframe as she looked inside, arms crossed over her chest.
"Oh, for fuck's sake, get over yourself! I've got a mission for you!"
Heero's head snapped up so quickly Hilde thought he might snap his neck, and he looked at her with such an intense look she thought he just might kill her.
"Oh, screw it, you frigid freak. Screw you too!" She marched back down the corridor to start cooking dinner. Several minutes later the strangest, most beautiful sound she had ever heard reached her ears.
Several minutes later she realized Heero Yuy was laughing.
*
Duo glanced at Heero across the dance floor and grinned, lifting a drink in his direction and mouthed the only thing he could think to say.
"There is such a place."
Heero nodded in reply and smiled.
"Yes, yes there is."
Owari.
