Notes: This part doesn't really have much happening in it. It just explains why Relena is at the Palace and why Heero is.......... and everything you really need to know about the Prince and his life. I haven't forgotten Duo and will go back to him in the next chapter.

Chapter 2

The Crowned Prince of the Messina Lands was sitting at his wooden desk in his study. His head rested between his two hands and a letter was laying in the gap between his two elbows. He gave a sigh as he re-read the letter but it didn't change anything written on the letter. As before it read that he was to seek marriage from the local Land Ladies and he had visited nearly all of them part from one. The one he dreaded to go to.

Heero Yuy was a boy of 17. His dark brown hair was always messy and brushing it seemed to make matters worst. No one had ever managed to tame his hair and after the first few people tried most tried to avoid the subject of Heero's rather wild hair but some said it just enhanced the Prince's already handsome look. Heero's eyes were a dark Prussian colour, it was one that many of his subjects treasured.

But there was still the marriage problem.

Heero was an only child. His mother died in childbirth and his Father Trieze Khushrenada (1) flipped. He couldn't stand losing another so as the Count demanded him to find a new wife Trieze hunted for a man and fell for the long lost heir to the Sanq Kingdom Millardo Peacecraft only he went by the name Zechs and no one part from Trieze and his son knew Zechs true identity.

There were no surprises when Heero found out that he, like his father, is gay. Being forced to marry a female was not something Heero enjoyed.

The Sanq Kingdom. Heero was already kinda marriage to the daughter of the Sanq Kingdom. Well he was in the Sanq Kingdom but nowhere else. Relena Peacecraft paid Heero a visit about a year ago on her 16th birthday. She told Heero that she had already found her life partner and asked Heero for forgiveness and was surprise when the Prince gave it to her. She knew the Prince never really liked her much and so she didn't wish to marry him. She had fallen for a new slave that Trieze had brought home. The blond girl had fallen for someone called Dorothy and she was unable to marry someone of the same sex. She made Dorothy her slave therefore keeping the two together. Then her and Dorothy left.... for a few days any way. Relena's father disowned Relena when he found out she refused marriage for another girl. She went crying to Heero and Heero left the next day for the Sanq. When he came back, he came back with news that Relena was still the Heir to the Sanq and that he was her husband. She knew this wasn't true and so did everyone else in Messina but in the Sanq Heero and Relena were the perfect couple. Relena was given her own room in the palace and she moved in there. Heero and Relena soon became friends and Heero now found himself leaning on her for help more than he did on his best friend (2).

Heero denied having feelings but deep down he felt more than most people. He knew when his people were upset and he did still hurt himself when his life went wrong. He just didn't let it show. He was the Perfect Prince and the Perfect Soldier to everyone else part from Relena, Quatre, Dorothy and Wufei. Even his father hadn't seen his emotions like the others had but no one had ever seen his true, true feelings. Heero only had four friends. His longest friend was Wufei. Chang Wufei was Heero's personnel guard and had been since Heero could remember. Wufei was a good five years older than Heero and was happily marry to the Royal Doctor Sally. After Wufei, Quatre came along. Lord Quatre was younger than Heero and was the youngest child and only boy out of a family of 30. When Quatre met Heero for the first time when he was 10 and Heero was 11, the young Prince had been amazed to find out that no matter what he did he couldn't hid his feelings from Quatre and so it grow into a love/hate relationship where Heero loved Quatre but hated the fact that Quatre knew everything about him.

Heero gave a sigh, there was still Lady Hilde to deal with and that was a task itself. Heero had grown up with Hilde and he knew her pretty well. Well enough to know she was a stuck up brat.

"Having fun?"

Heero looked up from the letter as a blond girl stuck her head round the door.

"Can I come in?" Relena asked.

Heero nodded and looked back at the letter.

"Still a man of many words." Relena laughed. She had been away with Dorothy for two weeks and had arrived back just this morning. Heero didn't reply but Relena was use to this and wasn't put off. "I heard from Wufei that you and him are going to spend the next week at Lady Hilde's house. Is that true?"

"Hn."

Heero looked up again and met Relena's blue gaze.

"Marriage?" She asked and Heero gave one nod. "Can't you tell her you are already married?"

Heero shock his head. "It's not her who wants it. It's my father."

"Ah. So it's just a land, money and title thing?"

"Marry her!" Heero snapped. "I can't stand her."

"You don't want to but you really should for the Kingdom." Relena said trying to get Heero to look on the bright side of things.

"I don't love her! And she doesn't love me. She loves the title. Everyone that wants to marry me loves My Title and not ME!" Heero hissed banging his fist against the table and Relena walked round the desk and placed a hand on Heero's shoulder.

"Look at me Heero."

Heero pushed her hand away and stood up. He pulled his cloak over his shoulders and tighten his sword on his belt.

"HEERO!" Relena snapped and the prince's cold gaze laid on her. "You'll find someone who loves you for you. I love you for you and not the title." She smiled gently at Heero and she say the faintest of smiles cross Heero's lips. She walked over to him and hugged him, placing a light kiss against his lips. "Good luck Heero and I'll see you when you get back." She let go and stepped back. Heero bowed to her before turning on his heel and walking down towards the stables.

Quatre smiled as he saw Heero walk down the main stairs to the courtyard. He turned back to Wufei and bid him good-bye before heading to Heero. He crept silently up and leapt forward, curling his arms round Heero's waist and pressing his head against Heero's back.

"Quatre."

"Knew it was me huh? I'm getting better right? I need to be…"

Heero turned round in Quatre's embrace and placed a hand on his friend's shoulder. Quatre was training to sneak out of the palace. He had found his true love outside the Palace walls and need to move silently in order to visit the boy.

Quatre became quiet as Heero's hand touch him.

"Stay pure Quatre."

Quatre smiled up at the taller boy. "Just be sure Heero. Trust your feelings."

Heero nodded. "I will."

(1) Yes they have different surnames I know but it will become clearer later on.

(2) This is a Hilde Bashing fic so I'm being nice to Relena for once. There aren't many fics in which I'm nice to her but I needed a female to play an supportive role. Relena IS the closest girl to Heero in the series/endless waltz so she fitted the part perfectly!
