Notes: This is not my normal style- not anything close, really. I don't know quite where this came from, aside from that it was finished around 3am the other day… It's set right after the end of the first war.

Dedicated to Mair for jumpstarting one of my muses. Why this one, though, I don't know…

She cried today- I could feel it in my soul. I was not able to be there for the ceremony, though and was therefore not around to comfort her. Rather, I had to tie up some loose ends. It was a day of reckoning- the day that would symbolize the end of the bloodshed.

I cut my ties because I love her. I'd sacrifice one love for another…. Another who doesn't realize, and probably never can or will. The weight of such a thought cuts me deeply, though the wound will never show on the surface. An unrequited love… The gods must enjoy mocking me so.

The lady I love cried today- and by far she is a lady! The man she has given her heart to, so carelessly in my opinion, has fled once more with no promise of return. While I may forgive what he… they have done to me, I do not think I can ever forgive his transgressions against her. Even so, I pray he might return; that they may be happy together. I only want her happiness- I need nothing in return. Her smile, so radiant as to compare with the sun, could sustain me against a lifetime of demons. And would! It will have to.

A woman, bold and noble, cried today. Through her tears, she spoke of rebirth and new beginnings, of fellowship and tolerance. She spoke with such conviction! The power to move that world to tears… And it was such. That she would be the one to teach these mortal fools the value of a human life and of peace is astounding. That she could teach me the same, to love and laugh with kindness, is a feat worthy of the epic heroes of old. Like them, as well, it will become long forgotten- nothing more than a dusty page decaying in a forgotten library. So is the endless waltz that makes up our history- a time remembered and a time forgotten. (1)

Relena, my love! _He_ made you cry today! I alone know the truth of this and we alone will bear the burden of this knowledge. I may not act, as would benefit my nature, though. Rather I must be strong… Strong for you, so that you may continue on. I will never be able to speak my thoughts, so hidden as the truth must be, until he has made his peace with you and have made peace with the memory of him in both your heart and soul. There may never be such a time, but I will wait despite that! I love you too much, too deeply to just cast the emotion aside.

My heart may weep, but my soul will soar, for you have given me wings to fly. All it took, but a single thought- the thought of you.

- I know this isn't how they used this term in the "Endless Waltz" movie, but it suits the story and the phrase just sounds good….
