Summary: Okay, let's change this a bit... There's a new war in the works, the mutants against the humans... The G-boys are a small team, with big powers, and they're in for a lot of trouble, even if they don't know it yet.

 

Story So Far: Wufei was taken in by the Team, and they just went shopping for his new wardrobe. What happens now? The assault of the Lightning Count's headquarters, of course! And, as a side story, sparks fly between Duo and Wufei. Enjoy!

Chapter 3- The Battle Continued

 

`Stop,' Quatre said into their minds. `We're getting close. Wufei, Heero, fog if you please?” the two nodded to each other, before using their respective talents to send a wall of fog rolling before them. The five of them continued to advance toward the headquarters of the gang, when suddenly Quatre stopped, holding up a hand. `A spy. Be on your guard. He's on your left.' They all nodded, and drifted toward their left, Duo disappearing for a few seconds. Nothing was heard, but he came back dusting his hands off, and Quatre's inner voice seemed to lose some of the tension.

 

`Okay, we're clear for now. We continue down this street two more blocks and then we turn left. Duo, you'll add your shadows to the mix, and the fog'll drift off, okay?' The others nodded tightly as they continued on.

 

“Shit!” Quatre cursed aloud. “We're surrounded!” They looked, and sure enough, they could make out about a dozen men around them.

 

“Why the hell couldn't you see them?” Duo asked, slipping into a fighting stance, his knives glittering.

 

“I don't know! They were blocking me somehow!” The others got into stance as well, Trowa shifting into a large black leopard, the silky pattern on his coat letting him blend into the darkness. Wufei pulled his knives out and got ready to move. There was a tense moment of absolute silence, and then the night exploded.

 

Wufei became aware of his surroundings a few minutes later, seeing only Duo still nearby. The others were being pushed back, even as Trowa shifted into larger and more deadly predators. Duo cursed quietly, slicing into another one, unable to use his necromancy powers because of lack of concentration. Quatre cursed loudly and fluently in French as his arm was caught by one of the knives in his opponent's hand. Heero growled low in his throat and took on his opponent, killing him before killing Quatre's opponent as well.

 

“You all right?” he asked quietly, slashing at another enemy.

 

“Fine. Let's hurry this up. This is only the first wave. We have to get in before they can send more.” They finished off their attackers, and continued on, almost running now. Wufei and Duo ended up on their own, keeping minimal contact with Quatre and the others as they slipped in a side door.

 

They slinked through the hallways, avoiding their pursuers and made it to one of the empty rooms in the warehouse. There they stopped to regroup. Duo was grinning almost ferally, and he found himself shivering, for a reason he couldn't name.

 

“So, you ready to do this?” Duo asked quietly. Wufei turned to look at him.

 

“Aren't I already `doing this'? I mean, we're inside, right...?”

 

“Yeah, I guess so, let's go.” They moved out into the hallway, which was still dark, and Duo would flicker off and back, probably checking their back trail. Suddenly, someone grabbed his arms.

 

“Night-“ He was cut off by a piece of cloth over his mouth. Duo turned back just in time to see Wufei pulled into a room, kicking and fighting.

Sorry to cut it off like this, but... I had to have at least one good cliffhanger in my story!
