Chapter Three

**********

As planned Relena and Dorothy Peacecraft moved into the Winner Mansion the day after the Thanksgiving holiday. Before the dreaded event the group of boys worked hard to spend as much time as they could together to distract the two boys who would be affected by their arrival. They often included Treize, allowing Wufei to spend some much needed time with his own lover. It was in this way that the two couples were able to spend time together without seeming too suspicious.

Besides uneasily awaiting the arrival of the Peacecraft girls the boys celebrated Heero's seventeenth birthday on the ninth of November. He and Duo were a year younger then the other boys because they were skipped a year in advance. The dark haired boy tried to keep the boys from doing anything to spectacular but they ended up dragging him to an authentic Japanese dinner and then to a concert of one of his favorite bands.

They had almost forgotten about the two girls, but reality slapped them in the face when a pink limo drove into town.

**********

Treize walked into the living room and found Heero and Wufei engrossed in a game of chess. Curiously he wondered why they weren't out with their friends before he remembered the Peacecraft girls were moving in and the student council was meeting, thus taking up the activities of the other boys. “So you two are all alone today huh?”

Heero's eyes never left the board as he smirked towards his foster father. “Not alone, you've managed to grace us with your presence after all.” Treize rolled his eyes as Wufei snickered. The Chinese boy moved his queen across the board.

“Check.” Heero muttered under his breath and began analyzing the board once again. Wufei smirked triumphantly and looked up to receive a kiss from the older man. “Finish grading our Calc tests?”

“Yes, you got a 86.” Wufei winced and did some muttering himself. Treize opted to ignore the curses and looked over to the brown haired boy across the table. “Heero, you got a 1oo plus the extra credit.” Wufei rolled his eyes as a smirk danced across the other boy's lips.

“I'm not surprised at all. Your tests are pathetically easy. Your class bores to me to sleep most of the time.” Treize snorted and glared mildly at the boy. Heero ignored him as he moved his king from danger. “In fact, I haven't even opened my book this year.”

Wufei rolled his eyes yet again and moved his queen after the retreating piece. “Check. You're to damn cocky Yuy.” Treize chuckle as he sat on the arm of Wufei's chair, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. “But I think you're all talk because you suck at chess.”

Wufei's taunts seemed to land on deaf ears as Heero stared at the board. One quiet moment passed then Heero looked up to his friend, smirking triumphantly. “Do I?” Wufei frowned suspiciously and looked down to the board, looking over each piece. What he hadn't realized through the game was that Heero was making small movements that seemed insignificant at the time but had in fact trapped his own king.

“Shit!”

Heero moved his queen in and took the rival king. “Checkmate.” Wufei began swearing in Chinese, causing his other friend to laugh triumphantly and he started replacing the ivory pieces into their proper case. When Wufei paused for air Heero dealt his winning blow. “Chess is about strategy `Fei. You blindly attack your target instead of being cautious about the attack that will kill you.”

Wufei glared death at the other boy then looked up to his lover as he grabbed an envelope on the corner of the table. “You have mail.” Treize's eyebrow crept up his forehead as he took the letter and began to read it. Wufei angrily grabbed the chess pieces and started replacing them on the board much to Heero's amusement. They both looked up when Treize sat the letter down.

“How would you boys mind having some company in about a month?”

**********

Quatre sighed weakly as he knocked on the mahogany door before him. Both families had greeted the girls when they arrived and they had left for a big dinner up state. When they returned the Barton's left for home and it was up to the Winner family to make sure everyone felt welcome. Quatre was wishing he were a Barton. A high-pitched reply came from the room within and he wearily walked into the room. Relena was busily chatting her sister's ear off as she fluttered around the room arranging her belongings. “My father wishes to know if the accommodations suit you.”

“They're wonderful!” Relena gushed as she fell into an overly stuffed, pink chair. Quatre mentally grimaced at the color.

“We are curious though, which school will we be going to?” Dorothy's look sent chills down the blond boys back.

The girls had been in town less then twenty-four hours and he was already regretting their arrival. Sighing wistfully he met Dorothy's eyes as he took a discreet step towards the door. “My father has decided that you will be attending the same school as Trowa and I, Franklin High School.”

Their reaction was instantaneous. They froze, all chatter and movement stopping in that one second. A look of horror crossed across their faces and they both erupted at the same time, but Relena's ear piercing shriek over rode her sister. “That's a public school!” Quatre nodded, wondering if he was going to go deaf from her screaming. “I refuse! We're better then a public school, we can't be seen there!”

Quatre glanced between the two girls, a sudden hope slipping into his heart. “If you ladies have a problem with it, take it up with your father as well as mine. Until then, classes start at eight Monday morning. Good night.” Quatre turned and walked out of the room, praying that they succeeded.

**********

“You should have heard them.” Quatre laughed the next morning. “`We're better then that!' You'd think they were royalty. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll actually convince their father to let them go to a private school.” With a smirk Trowa nodded. Heero and Wufei rolled their eyes, unimpressed with the bratty show of superiority. Duo simply gagged.

“I hate girls like that.” Duo stretched, his cropped t-shirt riding up on his stomach. “That's probably why I switched to boinking dudes.”

Duo!!” The other four boys yelled as various fists connected with the braided head.

“Ow, hey!” Duo shielded his head from the abuse and slowly looked up when they stopped assaulting him. “Well it's true. Girls are neurotic. You have to call them every hour, buy them gifts all the time, and all sorts of other crap. Guys are just so much easier. I'd rather a guy any day of the week.” The other boys couldn't help but chuckle as they rolled their eyes. “Hey did you hear that we're getting a new math teacher? I think he's going to be an English teacher next year but when he gets here he's going to be an assistant.”

“Ah.” Heero leaned against the brick wall. “Treize knows him, and he's going to stay at the house when he gets here but he's not telling us who he is.” Heero looked down to his watch, checking his watch to make sure there was still time before their class. Wufei crossed his arms uncomfortably, glaring at the ground. “Wufei…” Whatever comforting words Heero had intended for the Chinese boy was cut off when the group was covered by two female shadows.

When the boys looked up they came across the Peacecraft girls. Relena stood in a pink mini skirt with a white silk blouse. Dorothy was wearing a pair of black silk pants and a black blouse. They resemblance between the two girls stopped at their attitude and blue eyes. Relena crossed her arms and pouted at the blond boy before her. “You left without us!”

The sound of her voice made Duo and Wufei cringe and wrinkle their nose in detest. Heero crossed his arms, his eyes growing blank as he stared at the two girls in front of them. The last two of the boys simply sighed silently. “I always leave early Relena-san, so I have time to hang out with my friends. I tried to tell you that at breakfast but you ignored me.”

Dorothy rolled her eyes, Relena crossed her arms pouting petulantly as she looked over he ragtag group of friends Quatre had indicated. She quickly passed over the braided boy and the one with the black hair but her eyes lit up when she saw the sullenly glaring boy at the end of the group. His glare intensified when she smiled at him. “Who are you?”

Heero glared even harder and stood up, attempting to take a step backwards but he was already pressed against the wall at his back. When he found himself trapped he just bumped his glare up another notch. Quatre frowned when he saw Heero start to tremble then turned back to the girl he was destined to marry. “He's none of your concern Relena.”

The girl pouted at the blond then stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his neck. “Well I'll just have to figure you out.” With a smirk she leaned towards him, her lips pressed and moving towards him. Heero's eyes widened and his trembling became more prominent then it had been before.

Give me a kiss my baby boy!

“You do not touch me!!” Heero snarled as he shoved the girl away from him, before she had the chance to lay her lips on his. Relena tried to step back and catch herself but his shove was forceful enough she ended up sprawled on the sidewalk.

“How dare you!” Dorothy snarled, kneeling down beside her sister. Heero glared at girls, his frame shaking and his skin several shades paler then before. The other boys looked at him worriedly, eyes wide from shock. “Do you have any idea who we are?!”

Heero fought off the temptation to lose his breakfast all over the downed girl. “I do, and I do not care who you are. Stay the fuck away from me.” Heero looked away as Dorothy helped the fallen blond up and looked towards his group of friends. “Class is starting.” The Asian boy stomped off, and the remaining four boys quickly followed him without looking back at the girls behind them.

Relena turned towards Dorothy, smiling deviously. Her twin sister chuckled as she helped the younger girl to a standing position, watching the boys disappear into the building. “He's cute. I suppose you're going to try and posses him Relena?”

“Of course! He's already mine, he just doesn't know it yet.”

**********

“Fucking bitch!” Heero snarled as he walked into the advanced calculus class he and Wufei shared. He glared down at his hands as he walked past his foster father, detesting the way they shook. The girl had come close enough her horrendous perfume seemed to have seeped into his skin and clothes and he couldn't get the stink out of his nose. It made him want to puke and to vent his anger he threw his books at his desk and fell into the chair.

Treize watched his Heero with wide eyes, shocked at the boy's actions. “Wufei what happened?” Wufei stood beside his lover as he watched his friend, shrugging in confusion.

“Nothing I understand. We met Quatre and Trowa's fiancés and they're horrendous. The especially annoying Relena fixed her attention on him, she wrapped her arms around his neck and tried to force herself on him but it's nothing he can't handle.” Treize's eyebrows came together in a ferocious frown. “He hasn't spoke to any of us, and we can tell that he's not well. He's pale, and I know I saw him gag as if he was going to throw up. Do you know what's going on?”

Treize watched as Heero stared into space in front of him, his frame trembling enough to be visible. “I'll explain later.” Treize walked over to the younger boy's desk, kneeling in front of him. It took a couple quiet moments for Heero to focus on the man before him. “Heero, go home.”

Prussian blue eyes solidified into a mild glare. “I'm fine.”

Treize glared at the boy until he looked down and his eyes losing the protective shield of his glare and filling with his fear. “Heero…go home.” Heero nodded weakly and stood up, fleeing the room as quickly as he could after giving Treize a quick hug. Wufei watched with a confused frown as Treize stood up and wrote a brief note on the board. “Wufei, pass along the message that my class is free study, and gather the other boys to meet at the parlor this afternoon. Wufei nodded numbly as he watched Treize run out of the room and head towards the front office.

**********

Quatre sat beside Trowa in their English class, frowning worriedly. “Heero didn't look good.”

“The bitch tried to force herself on him, I'd be ill myself.” Trowa replied blandly. He leaned towards his smaller lover with a secretive smile on his face, whispering quiet enough only the blond could hear. “I much prefer submissive blonds.” Quatre giggled and sat back, smiling at the banged boy.

“And I prefer mysterious brunets.” Quatre sat back in his chair with a sigh. “I hate those girls Trowa. They're trouble…” Quatre looked down to his lap and spoke quietly in Latin, a language both boys had been taught when they were young children. “I'd rather die then be forced to spend the rest of my life with her.”

Trowa watched the blond then looked out the window. The other students were beginning to trickle into the room and the taller boy opted to keep to the foreign language for privacy. “We won't marry them.”

“How can we not?” Quatre asked, truly curious. “If we reveal ourselves…our parent's will throw us away like the Peacecraft's did to Milliardo.”

Trowa smiled comfortingly. “We plan.” Quatre blinked then smiled and nodded excitedly.

***********

“Those boys? They're super dweeby. I wouldn't go anywhere near them if I were you.” Celeste, the head cheerleader told Relena as she showed her around the school. “You seem pretty cool but if you hang out with them no one in this school will have anything to do with you. They're all so weird, except for Duo. He's the only normal one out of the lot.”

Relena nodded, taking mental notes as she walked beside the bouncy girl. “Which one is he?” She blew and obnoxious bubble with her gum and popped it noisily.

Celeste led Relena back towards the office. “He's the one with the long braid. He's nothing like the other four.” Celeste turned to look at Relena as they walked. “You're engaged to Quatre and your sister to Tristan right?”

“Unfortunately. That's why I want to know what I'm getting into.”

“Fair enough. Let's see…” Celeste leaned against a spare wall. “Wufei Chang is the Chinese one. He's still a mystery, which is a leading cause of his weird status. The only thing that's known is that he was married in China and he's a master at karate. Rumor is that he killed a guy with his bear hands!”

“Scary!” Relena whined as she leaned against the opposite wall.

“Totally. Heero Yuy's the last one. He's a total hottie, every girl in the school wishes she could get into his pants but as far as anyone knows he's never had a girlfriend, romantic or otherwise. He refuses to socialize with women. We all think he's gay.”

Relena smiled secretively. “I wouldn't say so.” Celeste cocked her head to the side in question. “He kissed me just this morning. I think he's just shy, but I bet he's my boyfriend before graduation.” Celeste giggled.

“No bet necessary you just have to share gossip.” Relena giggled as well and the two girls returned to their tour.

**********

“I'm your mommy now Heero, and this is how good boys treat mommies. This is where you touch me, and I you.”

Heero bent over the kitchen sink and wretched out what little stomach acid still remained in his body. When he was sure he wouldn't expel his actual stomach he turned on the water and washed out his mouth as he erased all proof of his illness. He collapsed on the tiled floor, leaning his head back against the cabinet doors beneath the sink. He watched detachedly as he peeled away his wristwatch, the one he never removed.

Beneath lay a thin white line that crossed just the right vein. It was a perfect scar, one that would have ended his life if his boyfriend hadn't ran in and called for help. His blood had stained a small kitchen floor then, and after being saved, he was further crushed when his first and last boyfriend broke up with him. If he hadn't been in the hospital he would have found a way to get around his rescue and escape.

As he began to recuperate his new phobic fear of women reared its ugly head. As an orphan he was faced with two options, an orphanage or a foster family. He could have neither because the mere presence of a female caused to the boy to seize with fear. It had taken social workers two months to find a single, male, volunteer. Treize nursed him through his therapy and after one long, painful year he was able to stand the presence of a woman. His therapist was a woman, one of two women he could stand. Besides Sally Poe only Duo's orphanage mother Helen Maxwell could come near enough to the boy to touch and embrace him.

After a year of home-schooling, and halfway completing his college degree, Sally had suggested Heero enroll in a local high school. This was both to finish his education and to help rehabilitate him to society. His freshmen year he was unable to have a female teacher, could only deal with the male vice principal but he could stand female students in the room, but would have severe reactions if they touched him. Through more therapy he was able to have a female teacher by his junior year, but could still hardly tolerate a females touch.

He met Quatre and Trowa his freshmen year, but initially did not seek contact with them at first. They were the rich kids of the area, and fused at the hip, but when Quatre ruthlessly pursued his friendship he could hardly fight him off. Chang was the next friend to be sewn into the group when he moved in halfway through the year. Duo was the last, moving to the town at the beginning of their sophomore year.

Because he had few bonds to begin with he treasured those friendships with everything he had. He held onto them with everything he had and became a fierce protector of the group. He vowed to protect their happiness with everything that he had.

He hadn't had an attack since he met Duo, but that girls touch, the look in her eyes and he found himself craving that thing razor blade he'd used so many years before. He could tell she was trouble, and that she was a hunter and she had fixed him as her prey. Trembling he pulled his knees up to his chest and started sobbing into them. <I can't believe how weak I still am! She shouldn't have this effect on me! > Heero wrapped his arms around his head. <Oh god, and she's Quatre's fiancé, meaning she's going to stay around. I can't let this keep happening.>

After drawing a few uneasy breaths and composing himself slightly he unfolded his body and reached for a grip on the counter to pull himself to a standing position. As he was regaining his balance his hand slipped in a puddle of water and his palm raked against the cheese grater on the counter. Blood instantly pooled in his palm and he watched avidly as it filled the small cup then began to trickle down the sides. His trembling began to ease he continued to stare.

“Let me see that.” Heero looked up, startled by the strong voice but didn't resist as his hand was taken and placed under some cool running water. He didn't even notice the sting as he watched the blood circle then disappear down the drain. “It's not that deep of a cut, you won't need any stitches an a light bandage will work.”

Heero continued to watch his blood stain the water. “Why aren't you in class?” His voice sounded hallow even to his own ears.

“You haven't had a flashback or episode in two years. Did you really think I'd let work that out on your own?” Treize asked as he began to wrap Heero's hand with a paper towel. “You and I have been a team for fie years now Heero, I think I understand when you need time alone and when you need a supportive friend.” Heero trembled, the feelings of fear and frustration developing into tears in his eyes. Treize watched the boy sadly before he led him into the living room and forcing him to sit in his favorite over stuffed chair. “What happened Heero? What caused you to break this time?”

Heero brought his knees up, trembling as he shrugged. “Her touch…her eyes.”

“What about them?” Treize sat down in a seat across from the shaken boy, sighing mournfully for the control that had been lost. He knew how much Heero needed it. It worried him as much as the show of fear did. His ward never allowed that feeling to show and it was another sign that his rein over it was lost. And the blame rested on a girl who had been in town less then forty-eight hours. The boy's blue eyes were shadowed with the horrendous emotion.

Those blue eyes closed as he remembered the girl and her look. He began to tremble a little, seeing here there in his mind. “Predatory…possessive and hungry. As if I'm only a pretty ornament or a piece of prey.” Treize nodded in understanding, watching as Heero struggled to regain his composure. With a heavy sigh he brushed his bangs out of his face roughly. “I should not have acted the way I did.”

“It was an understandable reaction Heero, and very impudent for her to act the way she did.” Treize's voice was reassuring and helped to comfort the boy's frayed nerves. “I think you'll be fine but I'd like to arrange a meeting with Sally just the same.” Heero sighed again but nodded his acceptance. “Wufei was worried.” Heero looked up at that, looking a little worried himself. “I told him I'd meat he and the other boys to explain what happened…how much can I tell them Heero?”

Heero looked down to his hands, staring intently at the white scar. Did he want the boys to know his shame? They were his family, and secrets this big and important were shared within a family. “They should know all of it…”

Treize nodded, smiling comfortingly at the teenager. “I'll tell them…they'll worry of course.”

“Of course.” Heero sighed mournfully.

Treize chuckled as he looked down to his watch. “I should get going or I'll be late.” He stood up, straightening out his clothes as he did. “I'll get that appointment scheduled, but I'm not to worried about you. You're a lot stronger then you used to be.” Heero smiled in gratitude. “While I'm gone, rest; don't sleep, you always have nightmares when you sleep after an occurrence this great, but rest. You need it.”

“Hai…arigatou, Treize.” Heero spoke quietly, his attention once again drawn to the pale like across his wrist.

The older man walked over and rubbed Heero's shoulder, deliberately pulling his attention from his memories. “We're a family Heero, albeit a very unique one. We'll make it through this though.” Heero nodded, a small smile erasing the shadows that had haunted him before.

**********

Wufei had relayed the message to the other three boys the moment he saw each one. After the last bell the four rushed from their classrooms and sped for the ice cream parlor. Duo made sure to leave a message with the homecoming committee that he wouldn't be able to join them. Trowa and Quatre called their fathers and explained that their friend was in trouble, effectively skipping out on an afternoon date with their respective fiancés, neither boy was terribly disappointed to miss those plans. When the group arrived at the parlor Treize was already there, sitting in the group's normal booth. Heero was nowhere to be seen, which worried the four boys more then before.

The group was very quiet while their drinks were ordered and delivered. They couldn't even find the urge to indulge in small talk for five very long minutes. Treize waited until there would be no distractions before he broke that silence. “Heero won't be joining us, but he has given me permission to explain what happened.” Each boy around him frowned. “As I'm sure you've noticed, Heero dislikes women, and not just a little bit. He's terrified of them. He won't have a female teacher and he shies away from most female contact.” The frowns around the table deepened as they remembered various instances where Heero had done just as Treize was talking about. It was hard not to notice Heero's peculiar behavior.

Treize watched the boys absorb and acknowledge the facts before dropping the bombshell on them. “Heero was raped five years ago.” Quatre and Duo paled in shock as Wufei and Trowa snarled in anger. “She was his foster mother, the fifth family he'd had since his parent's died. He kept being sent back to the orphanages because he was such an eccentric individual; it was hard to keep a child that was smarter then they were.

Quatre was clutching tightly to Trowa's hand beneath the table, using the connection as a comfort. Duo was staring down into his coffee cup, looking fairly pissed off, as was Wufei, who was clutching his coffee cup angrily. Treize observed the group as he took a sip of his tea. “She had him for three months, taking him to her bed every night her husband wasn't home. Unfortunately for Heero, her husband was a truck driver.”

“That's horrible…!” Quatre exclaimed, looking fairly nauseous. Trowa hugged him tightly, jaw shut tightly. Wufei began to glare angrily at the table.

“It is…” Treize agreed, sighing weakly. “Unfortunately, it's not the only thing that happened to him.” Treize began to shake from his own anger, remembering the past first hand. “After two months Heero withdrew from the world, except for one friend. His name was Levi, and Heero said that they were a little bit more then friends. Despite that, Heero started to become very depressed and research different ways to kill himself. He slit his wrists, but Levi found him and was able to get help before Heero died. He broke up with him right after that.” Duo snarled a curse that made Wufei's eyes widen in shock. Treize smiled and nodded in agreement. “My thoughts exactly, and if that little ass and I ever meet I'd do just that.” Duo smirked. “After that, while Heero was recovering, he developed his gynophobia. He couldn't even stand the voice of a female, and because of this his entire medical staff were of the male gender.”

“After they found me, and he recovered from his physical wounds I began to home school him. We tried that for a year, even as we continued his therapy. It took a long time, but he's never completely healed, but he is better. He's still susceptible to his fears.”

“Today, with Relena.” Wufei watched as his lover nodded in agreement and encouragement. “That's why he was so upset earlier.” Treize nodded once again. “What about her set him off?”

Treize sat back in his chair, rubbing his forehead. “Relena, it seems, is very much like his foster mother. She is demanding, petulant, conniving and possessive. If Heero hates women, he is absolutely terrified of women like her.” Treize's hand traveled to his hair to brush his bangs from his face. “I'm telling you this because he trusts you four, you're his friends. You four are the first and only friends he's had since Levi broke his heart. And now I ask a favor of you four that he does not know of. I want, no, I need you to watch him, and keep those girls away from him. I don't trust his mind to hold up if they can get to him easily.”

Glances were exchanged between the four boys, namely between Quatre and Trowa. It was the emerald-eyed boy who nodded in response. “We'll do our best. How is he now?”

“Better, I made him stay home to rest. He'll be at school tomorrow I'm sure, but I'm going to take him to see Sally, his therapist tomorrow afternoon.” Wufei curled his lip in disgust, not liking the woman very much. Treize cast him an amused look before looking at the group again. “I filed a sexual harassment charge against the girl but I doubt it will go very far. She has a very influential family, more so then my own.”

The table fell into silent thought, each boy making plans to keep his friend safe from the rampaging Peacecraft. Quatre looked over to Treize, worrying at his lower lip. “Can we see him tonight or would it be to much for him?”

“I'm sure he'd appreciate your company.” Treize smiled, causing the other boys to smile as well.

Duo hopped up, grinning. “We'll do a movie night! And I call dibs on picking up them.” Four eyes looked over to Duo with horrified expressions. It took just a second to turn his grin into a pout. “What? I promise not to get any chick flicks this time.” Their horrified expressions remained, and were turned to Treize when he started chuckling.

“Duo, I give you free reign to pick the movies.”

“Yes!”

“But Wufei will be joining you, and will help you choose.”

Wufei smirked as Duo started swearing. The group dissolved into relieved laughter and quickly left to join their friend.

Notes: I'm sorry this chapter was so long in coming, college finals were a bitch, and kept me from typing on the story. From here on out, there will be some fairly disturbing content and heartbreak. This story is not meant for anyone under age. Comments and critiques are welcome; flames are not. If you want to flame then don't read the story to begin with, I've given ample warning.

Coming up next: After Quatre's eighteenth birthday the Kushrenada household welcomes a surprising visitor.
