Chapter One; A New Day

"Okay class, today we have a new student!" the class groaned. When Mrs. Dejorlé got a new student, you got detention if you weren't making friends with them in the first ten minutes. Kind of hard when you're across the room. "I would like to introduce to you Mr Kenji Sera. He is new to America from Japan, please make him welcome."

"Watashi-..I mean, my name is Kenji. It is a pleasure to meet you all." the boy had a soft tenor voice, that suited him perfectly. He had a small frame, was probably about 17, was short, about 5'3", and had fairly pale skin, though his cheeks were red from having to stand up in front of the class, introducing himself. He had dirty blonde hair that was mussed up, and foggy blue eyes that you could just stare into. He had a rather feminine face; hell, if you put makeup on him, he could pass as a woman even with the guys clothes he was wearing.

"Thank you Kenji, you can sit behind...Wufei Chang," she pointed to the black haired Chinese man, sitting near the back, "Mr. Chang, do remember to help Mr. Sera catch up on what he's missed." Wufei nodded, and Kenji walked to the desk behind him.

"What class do you have next, Kenji?" Wufei asked the new student. Kenji carefully but quickly pulled out his schedule.

"Um..Gym.." Kenji sounded disheartened at the thought.

"Oh, well I have friends that have Gym with you, I'll introduce you to them so you know someone." Wufei may have seemed cold to everyone, but when someone was uncomfortable in a place as horribly crowded and spirited, he sympathized. ((A/N: sorry, my school's like that and frankly, I can't help but make Wu-man a tad....nice? ^^;; )) Kenji nodded and stared at the floor, walking out of the classroom since the bell had run as Wufei spoke.

"Thank you," Kenji said softly. Wufei looked at the young man curiously. He seemed overly soft-spoken and timid, though he couldn't blame him. The school they were at, Sturgeon Heights High School, was huge, and yet crowded and filled to the brim with people. He supposed that it could be intimidating.

They walked through the halls of the school towards the Gym. Wufei kept looking over at Kenji. He couldn't believe how..actually beautiful this young man was. He knew he wasn't gay, or bisexual for that matter, but this man was just..oddly beautiful.

Kenji could feel Wufei's eyes on him, and it made him very uncomfortable. Luckily, that's when they got to the Gym. Wufei spotted Heero and Trowa just about to head into the changing rooms and called out to them.

"Heero! Trowa!" they turned, "I want you to meet someone. He's in my English class, his name is Kenji Sera." Heero and Trowa just nodded and Wufei sighed, "They're not the most talkative, but they're friends." Trowa motioned for Kenji to follow Heero and himself into the change room, and Kenji reluctantly did so. 'Why didn't I think about change rooms?! I'm in a lot of trouble if I can't find a way out of this...' All Kenji could think about what would happen if the guys there found out about him. Luckily, he was wearing clothing relatively suitable for gym, and only needed to change the shoes he was wearing. Kenji stared avidly at the ground instead of even lifting his head once, even if someone said hello to him. Half branded him as gay, the other half as shy.

As they stepped out into the gym, the teacher announced that they were going to start a unit on gymnastics. The boys groaned for the most part, and the girls giggled, and started talking on how to impress the boys with their "flexibility". Inwardly, Kenji thought he'd enjoy the unit, being very flexible himself, and able to do many of the things they were supposed to.

"Okay, girlies," the teacher sneered, "time to get to work. There's the rings, the bars, the balance beam, and the mats. Get to it. I'll be going around to make sure you're doing what you're supposed to. No horse play. If I see any, that's a zero for the day. Same thing if you're found not doing what you're supposed to." the teacher, Mr. Gilmes, looked at the clipboard in his hand, "Kenji Sera? Welcome. Glad to see you're making friends. Stick with them, they'll show you what I'm expecting of you." Kenji looked at Trowa and Heero, then followed them to the balance beam.

"I do hope you're able to keep your balance well. This shouldn't be too hard really, better then trying to get you to go to the rings or to do something impressive on the mat on your first day." Trowa stated, promptly mounting the beam. (A/N: don't be sickos!! I mean the balance beam!!) After a few footing tricks and a back flip off of the balance beam, Trowa motioned for Kenji to try.

"I haven't been on a balance beam for years.." Kenji gave up as Heero and Trowa both gave him disapproving glares, and got mounted on the balance beam. The girls started watching him, dreamily. (A/N: new kid..thing) Kenji did several rather impressive moves, bending that way and twisting this way, finishing off with a twisting back flip, and landing perfectly. Trowa raised an eyebrow, and Heero grunted. The girls seemed to be in shock. "Well I don't appear to be too rusty, but I should've turned a little more; I wasn't perfect in my dismount." Kenji said very softly. Trowa and Heero just barely heard him.

"That was amazing young man! Where did you learn that?" Mr. Gilmes bellowed

"I was forced into ballet when I was younger. My mother insisted." Kenji was holding his head high; at least, high for him from what the students had seen from him so far.

"Well that was well done young man. Let's see you on the mats."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~
By the time class was over, Kenji had been on everything, and his skills at everything proven. No one could believe what they had just seen. 'You'd think that they had never seen someone do that before...' was all that kept going through Kenji's mind during class as he mentally smirked. He noticed that Heero and Trowa were good, but they were good at mostly one or two things. He, on the other hand, had been trained at everything. Literally everything. His next class was French, and he smiled mentally. This should be interesting. He had Trowa in this class as well, Heero grunting that speaking another language was a waste of breath. Not that Heero used much breath talking anyways.
As Kenji and Trowa walked towards the room they were in, 317, Kenji was informed that there were two other students in that class that Trowa knew. Kenji nodded and smiled weakly, the first smile of the day so far.
In French, Kenji was introduced the soft spoken Quatre, and the obscenely loud Duo. Kenji nodded to them both and began to bow, before shaking his head and then their hands. French went by rather quickly, Kenji's knowledge of the language being put to the test. Kenji was nearly fluent in the language, only pausing briefly to think about the answer, or the correct verb. That was Kenji's last class so far that day, having come to school rather later than he would have liked, though the principal didn't seem to mind. 'Today has gone by perfectly, everything went according to the plan...'
