Prologue

"No! Don't touch me!" Heero swiped away the hand that was reaching for him.

His opponent just smirked, gazing at him with dark amethyst eyes.

"Back off! Are you insane, Duo?!"

The American pilot stepped forward slowly, ignoring the death glare that the Japanese boy was giving him.

'Damn! There must be something wrong with him.' Heero could only step back until his back faced the wall.

No more room to go.

"One more step and I'll kill you," he spoke in a deadly tone but it seemed to have no effect on the other boy, who kept on moving slowly towards him.

Heero turned aside and was about to run, but only tumbled onto the floor as the braided boy charged forward and pounced on him at a panther's speed.

Heero gasped as his chest hit the ground. His lungs lost air for a moment. He rolled to his back and sucked a deep breath, aware that Duo had caught his hands and pinned them on the floor at the same level as his head.

`Danger!' his mind warned him. He tried to break from the grip and get free, but it seemed that Duo was stronger than he had ever thought.

"Let me go!"

The braided boy only stared into those Prussian blue eyes. A ghost of a smile showed on his lips.

"You are mine from now on, little one, and there's no way to escape…."

Part 1

It had been almost three months since Duo had disappeared.

Heero thought while flipping himself to lie on his back on the bed in his room, or actually Duo's and his room. They lived together with the other pilots in this safe house and Duo was his roommate.

He placed his hand by his side, only to find the empty sheet. The bed seemed to be too large to sleep alone. He looked at the other bed next to his. It belonged to Duo, but the owner rarely used it.

<flashback>

"Get out of my bed, you baka!!"

"You got to kick me out," the braided boy chuckled and hugged the Japanese boy tightly from behind "If you can."

"Why do you always use my bed? You have one of your own." Heero struggled, trying to break from the grip. Of course he was quite sure that he was stronger than Duo but the braided baka seemed to have some special techniques to catch him and he never could break this grip.

"Don't you think it is warmer to sleep together?" Duo spoke in a teasing tone.

"Omae o korosu!"

"I'll go to sleep then…" Duo pretended to yawn and snuggled his face into the crook of Heero's neck.

"Duooooooooooo!!"

A soft snore served as a reply.

"I know you're not sleeping! Let me go!!" The Japanese boy struggled for a few more minutes, but found that it was useless. Finally, he stopped and just lay still, panting in Duo's embrace. Then he felt a smile pressing on his neck and the grip was loosened.

Heero was about to kick the baka, but something in his mind stopped him. After his brain processed it for a while, he found that his body chose to sleep quietly in those embraces.

<end flashback>

"Duo, where are you now?" Heero murmured to himself.

The incident occurred during the American pilot's last mission. The information was faked and Duo was sent on the mission alone to fight almost a hundred enemies, which was ten times the number reported. When the truth was known, the other pilots followed him to lend support but it was too late. The fight was over. All enemies were destroyed. Deathscythe was left there with serious damage, and out of fuel. The cockpit was open. Some bloodstains were there but there was no Duo. He had gone without leaving any clues of his whereabouts.

"Are you going out again?" Heero stopped at Wufei's question, pausing in his trek towards the door.

Heero just nodded and got ready to leave.

"You've been back for a couple of hours, and it's almost dark. It's useless to go out and search for him now,” said the Chinese boy, “You should eat something or take a nap."

"I just took a nap."

The Chinese boy rolled his eyes. "For fifteen minutes? You should take better care of yourself. The past three months you've rarely eaten or slept. Do you know how weakened you've become? I know you worry about him, but…"

"I'm not weakened," Heero protested "…and I've never worried about him."

Wufei just snorted. This perfect soldier was too stubborn to admit his own feelings.

"I just do my duty," Heero stated flatly.

“Okkk … it's your duty. However, so is your health. We're all trying to find him.”

“I don't need anyone to tell me how to manage my life,” Heero spoke the last sentence before walking out of the house, closing the door behind him.

………………….

Without any destination in mind, the Wing pilot walked down the road. Doing something ineffective like this was not his usual habit, but this time he truly had no idea what to do. He felt that he couldn't stay still at home and wait for time to go by.

`Where could he be?'

All the areas near the fighting field had been investigated several times. Trowa had checked all the hospitals. Quatre and Wufei managed to hack into the terrorist network and searched around for clues in case Duo had been caught. Even though they were quite sure that if that was the case, the American pilot would have been able to escape by himself, or would already have sent them some signal for help.

Nothing had been found.

`If he was dead, we would have found his body,' Heero kept telling himself, feeling his throat go dry at the thought of Duo being dead. `He wouldn't just disappear, unless he had gone by his own will…'

Heero stopped walking at this thought. What if Duo did that? Impossible. Duo had no reason to do that…but if so…if Duo was just hiding somewhere. Come to think of it, they had been searching for Duo under the hypothesis that he was injured from the fight, or might have been caught. But if he was just hiding for some reason, it would be very different. It was not easy to track the Deathscythe pilot, since Duo was very good at hiding and concealing his tracks. Though he was known to everyone as an open, cheerful boy, the other four pilots knew well that Duo, in fact, was a guy of mystery. No one knew about Duo's past…, except him.

For some unknown reason, it seemed that Duo liked to talk to him and tell him about his past. Heero always pretended to be disinterested, and didn't care to listen. It gave him the chance to know the braided pilot more and more…and somehow it made him feel that the distance Heero tried to keep between them became narrower. Unconsciously, Heero found his mind recalling the story Duo had told him, every single word and sentence Duo had spoken to him the night before he left for his mission.

<flashback>

“You know, if I hadn't met Father Maxwell, I probably would have been a rogue or a criminal by now.”

“Hn…?”

“I really mean that. He taught me so many things. I was such a degenerate before I met him.”

“Hnn….”

“My life was like shit when I was a child. I lived at Street D. God, that place was super extreme. It's like a center of crime, full of sex and drugs. Fortunately, I was not interested in drugs, ha.”

“Hn.”

“There, I learned how to live, how to survive, and how to kill…”

They were silent for a while.

“Funny, I've never told anyone about my past before. You know, I don't need a biography. But for some reason, …I don't know… I just want you to know…me.”

“…”

“Hey, Heero! Are you listening to me?!” Duo broke the silence and gazed at the back of his companion who was kept busy by his laptop.

“...” Only the sound of the tapped keyboard came as his reply.

“Heeroooo!” At the word, the American pilot jumped onto his target making the Japanese boy gasp in surprise.

“This is your punishment for not concentrating on listening to meeeeeeee….” The braided boy seized the hands on the laptop quickly. He dragged the boy out and pinned him on the bed. A wide, sly grin spread across his face as Duo readied his hands and began to tickle his prey.

“Duo!!!…Omae...ha..ha...o…hahahaha…..!!!& #8221;

<end flashback>

Back to where he stood, Heero frowned at his thoughts. This was no time for such unproductive thoughts like that.

Funny…he found that memories of Duo always made him feel…warm…

Heero shook his head to get rid of his thoughts. He was doing his mission - finding the missing pilot, not thinking something silly. Then Heero settled his mind back to his soldier mode and thought hard. Maybe he would find something if he started with the place Duo had once lived. At least, it was better than doing nothing at all…

He knew that the braided boy lived at the Maxwell Church before he became a Gundam pilot. But the church was destroyed. So, where could he go?

Heero stood still for a moment before he finally decided on his destination.

Street D.

………………….

Unaware of the time, Heero found himself standing in the dark, narrow street. Not that it was really dark, but from the atmosphere, only darkness could be the best word to describe the place. A soldier like him could feel it. Did Duo really live here when he was a child?

Heero walked calmly but was careful in every step. His soldier instinct warned him that he was being eyed by people around the area, as he was a stranger to them.

“Seems like we have a visitor here,” one man spoke. “A beautiful one…”

`Stupid.' Heero just walked past that guy, not wasting his time to take a glance at the speaker

“Where are you going, little one?” The man jumped out to block his way.

“Back off,” Heero hissed in a deadly tone, stunning the guy for a moment.

“Come on, don't be shy,” the man then continued, eyeing the Japanese boy with passion. “I just wanna be friendly with you, so we can have fun together.” He licked his lips and reached out, aiming to grab the Japanese boy's shoulder. However, before his fingertips could touch any skin, the man found himself thrown, crashing into the wall on his side.

The loud crash called interest from the others. Noticing that their friend was attacked, some of the men around there began to pay attention to the new stranger.

“How dare you?” A growl came from another guy.

“We will teach you some lessons, little boy.” With that, some of the men leapt to attack Heero.

The fight started…

…and ended as quickly as it began. Those men were no match for the perfect soldier. In a few minutes, no one except the brown haired boy stood there.

Panting, Heero stood quietly trying to control his breathing. He might have become weakened like Wufei said, if a short fight with those men could make him pant. Seeing that everyone was knocked down, Heero was going to continue on his way, but then someone caught him from behind. A hand covered his mouth and a damp cloth was brought up to his nose.

Heero held his breath automatically, knowing that he could be knocked out by breathing that scent.

Another idiot! No one could catch him. He would surely break this grip easily and this man would pay for daring to touch him.

Heero struggled against the hold, but was surprised when he couldn't break free.

The strong arm that crossed his chest trapped his arms by his side and the hand that covered his mouth locked his head perfectly. It limited his movement while he was still trying to hold his breath.

After struggling for a while, Heero could feel that the arm on him was loosening a little but before he could do anything, it slammed back hard on his chest, making him gasp and breathe in the scent from the cloth. He could feel the strong smell swiftly run through his body and in mere seconds, Heero felt his knees going weak. At the same time, the person behind him let him go. The Japanese boy turned around to face that person but the world seemed to spin around him. He looked up, aiming to see the other's face and saw a familiar smirk in the darkness before he slumped down onto the ground, unconscious…
