--Heero paused and scanned the room one final time, just to make sure that he had not forgotten anything important. Satisfied that he had not left anything that could not be easily replaced, he picked up the items from the bed.

 

Turning from the bed he left the room and with a heavy heart he walked out of Duo's life once again.--

~flashback~

Taking a deep breath Duo turned the knob and stepped into the apartment that he shared with Heero. He drew a deep breath and blinked into the darkness.

 

Heero didn't seem to be home. Duo was monetarily relieved then he noticed how empty the room felt. He flicked on the lights only to find his worst fear realized. Heero was gone. For good.

 

Though nothing was really missing from the room save for his jacket and shoes, the whole apartment had this desolate lonely feeling that Duo simply couldn't shake.

 

Stepping into their bedroom Duo eyes immediately fell to the letter resting on the bedside table…

~end flashback~

 

I'm lying on out bed, staring out of the window. Watching the world, hoping to see you walking up the front path.

 

Its morning now, you left over a month ago and I keep thinking of the letter you left I was crying when I read it. I don't ever remember crying before. My knees were trembling so badly that I had to sit yet I was frozen where I stood.

 

How could I know notice how much I was hurting you? How could I think that my career was more important then the one person that I had ever truly been in love with?

 

The pain was so unbearable. I had hit you, gods you were only trying to get me to rest, to take a break and I fucking hit you. Now the guilt I feel continues to eat at me. There's a pain in my chest, a hollow, empty feeling in my heart that only you can fill.

 

The sun is just beginning to rise and I can't help but remember how we used to be when we were just starting out. It took months to break through your shell but when I finally did manage to crack it I found the real you.

 

The wonderful warm caring person I fell in love with.

 

I was stupid, so stupid to think that work was more important then everything else, more important than you. Gods, why didn't I listen to you?

 

I wish I could stop time and turn us back to the days when we were happy so I can erase all the pain I caused you. Now I only have memories of you, your smile and sweet laugh.

 

The more time that passes the emptier I feel, I need you with me to heal me and make me whole. I can't say goodbye. I won't except that you will never return to me.

 

I will find you, my love and when I do I will dry your tears, you always have and always will be dear to me.
