The Magic Touch

Chapter 3

The girls left her all alone in the house. It was a good thing though, for she wanted to be on her own. The sky didn't look so bright and she had an eerie feeling about something. She walked from the kitchen with a cup of tea and strolled into a small shine and sat cross-legged in front of a small pit of fire. She placed the tea cup down and looked into the flame. Suddenly she frowned as the sky began to darken even more.

"It has started." was her breathless response.

She stood up quickly and ran for the front door, knocking her cup of tea over in the process. The pit of fire sparked again before descending.

The house shook as she ran though it, the outside and the girls unprotected itched in her mind and killed her with worry and anger. A single thought entered her mind - the safety of her friends.

Running towards the front door, she frowned, immediately moved her direction to the living room. The house shook once again as a ton of debris flew through the front door. With the determination to warn her friends, she had no choice but to jump through the living room window, and crawl her way to the road from her front yard.

As she stood up, see could see giants, most she had already seen before. Fire blazed from the majority of the residents in the cluster. She stopped and closed her eyes, focusing on the mind of another. She sent a message to one of her to close friends, but before she could finish it, a loud voice sounded behind her. A tall primary colored giant spoke.

"Woman! Get out of here before you die!"

The girl frowned at her title and turned and ran quickly toward the wood.

Inside the cockpit the pilot frowned. "She's quick…but stupid."

He began to stroll over with the giant toward the wood, stopping at times to shoot at up coming enemies.

"Fool…she must be suicidal to go through there!" he exclaimed, as he stepped into the clearing in the middle of the wood. The girl suddenly appeared from the far left and stopped again in front of the giant.

"She's Asian…Typical." He told himself as the girl outstretched her arms from her sides and called out.

"Want me? Come get me"

The pilot frowned again. "Weak woman"

The girl watched as the cockpit opened. `Perfect,' she thought, `He'll get a shock he won't believe'

Without warning for the both of them, the girl was hit in the head and fell unconscious from flying debris.

I woke up with a major headache, `I feel like I just got run over by a transport truck.' I thought to myself. I haven't even tried to open my eyes yet and I already now that it is early morning where the sun would be just coming up.

Slowly I opened my eyes. My guess was right since I could see the first rays of light through a window on the other side of the room. My memories of the last time I was awake are very cloudy, but I still remember the pile of ruble that was my house.

`I hope the girls are alright,' I thought hopefully, trying not to tense about it. I started to feel an unknown presence in the room as my senses became more aware. I looked around then I saw him, the pilot from that day. He sat on a chair at the side of the bed. His head is slightly bowed, arms crossed and eyes closed.

`He's sleeping?!' I mentally snorted, `He looks cute like that.'

I carefully sat up on the bed to get a better look around the room; my movements awakening the sleeping man beside me.

His dark ebony eyes stared up at me startled for a moment.

"Good morning," I spoke to him, my throat felling very sore.

He snorted and got up with out a word. He went into a smaller room, and then approached me with a glass of water.

"Thank you." I said as I took a long sip out of the cup. He sat back down and stared at me, as if he was trying to read my soul.

`He's so mysterious,' I thought, 'why is he staring at me like that?'

"What is your name?" he asked suddenly, making me jump a little.

`He is probably the reason why I got hurt in the first place and he wants to know my name? But then again he probably saved me to.'

"I am Krisi Young," I finally said to him, "and what is yours?"

"Wu-fei Chang."

`That's a nice name.' but I dare not to say it aloud, instead I just looked right back at him.

~~~~~ A week later ~~~~~
I am fully held now, and I am able to do everything by myself again. Not that I minded though.
Wu-fei; the boy that saved me, well sort of, has been very kind to me so far, although very quite most of the time.
I am sitting by a large window in the room, of which I am staying in. The sunrise is very beautiful. But I know that it is going to be a long day as my thoughts turn back towards my friends again.
Wu-fei is going to call some people to find them. `Why do my thoughts keep going towards that guy?' My thoughts are spinning my mind in circles. `I think that I am falling in love.' That had to be it, but I didn't want to admit it, not aloud, not to him, not yet.
Later that day I was sitting in the kitchen, while Wu-Fei was in the living area talking on the vid-phone. I took another sip of tea then tried to listen to the conversation.
~~~~~~~~~~

I saw a blonde guy on the screen from my seat, Wu-fei's back was to me, the blonde has aqua colored eyes.
I could hear Wu-fei talking to him, "Hello Quatre I was wondering if found anyone in the past few weeks or so…Great…recovery…ok…in three weeks then…fine, see you then." Then he hanged up the phone.

~~~~~~~~~~~
The other one went pretty much the same.
`They are injured,' I thought frantically. `I hope that it is nothing serious.'
As he walked into the kitchen I pretended, and very well to, that I didn't hear any of the conversations that he had. I got up to pour myself another cup of tea and then strolled off to sit in front of the fire place in silence.
~~~~~~~~~~

As I sat in front of the fireplace, my mind drifted off and I became one with the fire. It wasn't like the shrine at home, but it would have to do. As I thought about my home, I thought about the others.

'Where are they?' My mind questioned the flame, 'Are they safe with the ones who found them?'

Suddenly, I opened my eyes and smiled. I knew that they were safe and in good hands then.

Time passed and I noticed that Wu-fei had been gone for a while. I stood from the rug while placing my teacup down and strolled around his living room.

'Elegant,' I thought. 'He appreciates his culture.' I smiled in spite of myself.

After grazing my fingers over small figurines or statues, I found myself in a hallway I haven't noticed before during my stay. The floor was wooden differently compared to the rest of the home, and the walls were a pale white. I stepped in after removing my slippers, so as not to ruin the fine wooden flooring. But as I did, I heard a grunt, then a swiping sound.

As curiosity took the best of me, I peeked into an open door to find Wu-fei sparing with an invisible opponent. His kitana skimmed the air, slicing his opponent in half. I smirked in spite of myself. Then I realized that the room that he was in was a new training area and from what I can tell, there was also a small fire pit farther down the room. I almost squealed; I think I did too, because Wu-fei was looking at me.

I straightened and glared at him. He returned the look.

"What are you doing here Onna?" He asked; his voice ragged from the play. I stiffened from his hoarse remark of calling me 'onna'. That was ok, I could get him back.

"Well chun yun [1] I was walking around and stumbled across this room."

He flinched and glared at me again.

I looked at the shine of his short sword. "Nice kitana" I said.

"You fight?" he asked; tossing an extra one to me from the wall.

"Of course". I said admiring the shiny blade. He attacked while I was off guard.

`Skill full, but not enough to shake me,' I thought.

Our swords clashed against one another. Each move he made was either dodged or blocked, surprising him, having him think as if I knew his every move.

He had no idea how right he was.

More dodges and blocks continued until he finally managed to have me pined against the far wall of the shine.

"All women are weak." He grunted, sweat dripping off his head.

"Perhaps, but we're very intelligent." I replied with a smile.

Wu-fei edged his sword closer to my chest and I took that moment as my opportunity.

With the swipe of my foot and a swish with my sword, Wu-fei fell back and hit the ground, his sword sliding away.

I held out my sword to his chest and smiled again.

"I win."

Wu-fei cursed at himself and looked away. I knelt in front of him while placing my sword on the ground.

"You see, Wu-fei. We're not all weak. It takes mind to succeed, not strength."

His eyes widen as he turned his face to look at me, but his face soon softened and he smirked.

"I apologize for what I said." He said voice soft, but deep.

I leaned closer. "I forgive you. I also thank you. I needed to loosen up from my days in bed." I supported my weight with my hand at his side. Our faces edging closer together, "And I thank you for taking care of me."

Wu-fei's hand brushed a few strands of hair away and tucked it behind my ear.

"Anything for a woman."

I smiled and we edged even closer until our lips touched and we kissed. Sweet and slow, our lips moved against each other. We parted slowly and I smiled again.

`This week is going to be more interesting then I thought it would be.'

Authors Notes: [1] chun yun roughly means stupid man in Chinese.
