Notice the abundance of `eventually'. I will get to it and hopefully it will be good. Just expect a lot of grief before then. This little intro is very short. Sorry for that. Also this is a trial for me in the arena of things I hate. You might want to call it my fanfic pet peeve series. I am trying to incorporate many elements of irritation that I find in fics into this one so that I may purge myself. Or something like that. Maybe it's my excuse to write really badly and then blame it on a concept pinned to this piece. Give me some feedback, please. I will stop if its really bad and you ask nicely or I will go on and maybe incorporate ideas if anyone has some. I will point out the peeves used at the end of chapters starting in the next chapter when things really get started.

The Next Side- (1/?)
It had been several years since the wars and Heero had come to point in his life where he realized how no one had truly understood what he went through then. He was becoming more and more alienated from those around him. After the war he had played bodyguard for Relena for a short while before being offered a securities job by an associate of Relena. It seemed like a great job. He was doing something he knew how to do and didn't have to deal with people on a regular basis but still had enough interactions to fulfill the occasional pang of need to be social. Socializing was never something that he excelled at and he had come to terms with that flaw in his personality. He made adjustments in his life to accommodate. In the past months Heero had been having more and more dreams about the wars and it was becoming a problem with it interrupting his life. His waking hours began to be filled with thoughts of events in the wars. No one around him could relate to the anxiety he was having over this. The only people who could ever know the feelings he had were those who had experienced it with him. Heero made the decision to seek out those he had shared so much with. He had only spoken to Quatre and Trowa briefly a year or so ago but it had been three years since he had seen any of the guys in person. Quatre could be seen in news briefs occasionally detailing involvement in Winner Enterprises and since Trowa had remained with Quatre since a little after the last war, he could sometimes be seen in the news briefs by Quatre's side. Wufei had joined Preventers almost immediately after the wars. Heero suspected he did it only because he had been asked to by Sally Po. Wufei had confided once to Heero that he saw a bit of Meiran in Sally and then quickly changed the subject with a distinct blush across his face. Heero thought that Wufei would have expounded on that bit of info a little more. It is suspect that he was looking for a bit of familiarity and that resemblance was all Wufei needed. He seemed happy though, when Heero had last talked to him a few months after joining, and that was all that mattered.
The only person Heero hadn't seen or heard a word of was Duo. He was also the one that Heero most wanted to see. During the wars, Duo was always an annoyance but Heero found that he long for that annoyance more and more as time went on. There was never a dull moment around the longhaired idiot. Heero had realized he never felt as relaxed as when Duo was around. Years of contemplation had Heero trying to figure out exactly what those feelings meant. Duo had been a great friend then and he wanted Duo to be his friend again now. Heero needed that feeling of ease back. The dreams had been getting progressively worse and the only thing anyone could tell him was that he needed to get some PTSD therapy. Heero would much rather find Duo.
Heero lives planet-side now but he is sure not all the others did. He knows Wufei is at Preventers HQ so that is where his search will start. He arrives at HQ early in the morning, thinking this is the best time to catch Wufei in his office. Surprises have never been something Heero was good at but seeing Heero in his office after such a long time will surely be a surprise for the Preventer agent. After getting clearance into the building he walks up the six flights of stairs to Wufei's office. Never trust elevators in a building over ten flights. Wufei's office is at the end of the hall by the little used water cooler and the oldest photocopying machine Heero had ever seen. Apparently Preventers isn't all up to date for an organization that has only been in operation for few years. When Heero reaches the door he hesitates before the knock. This is the start of his journey to reconnects with his old friends. What if they don't need to be reminded of the past? What if they are happy with the way their life has turned out and don't need to think about how wrong things were. What if it doesn't disturb any of them the way it has been disturbing Heero over the last few months? Many other fears run through Heero's mind before he builds up the courage to knock. After a couple taps on the door, there is still no reply from inside. Moments go by with no movement from inside. Maybe Wufei is on a mission and the agent downstairs had been wrong about him being in his office. Heero continues to stand at the door debating whether or not to try again when the door swings open and very stunned Wufei stand in the open doorway.
"Heero? What… Why… Heero?"
"Wufei."
