Dedicated to Mair for jumpstarting one of my muses. Why this one, though, I don't know…

Some days, things look good. Your coffee is perfect and ready as soon as you ask for it. Or your housemate and best friend wakes up looking especially gorgeous and is either oblivious to the fact or doesn't seem to mind that you're starring at her wonderful ass. Some days, she even flirts back, whether she realizes it or not.

Some days are good…

Today was not one of them.

It was raining when I woke up this morning and, while I have nothing against rain, it seemed to set the tone on this particular day. Nothing went right in the process of getting ready for school and I ended up late, drenched, and without my morning infusion of caffeine. Half way through the day, Relena pulled me aside in the hallway and told me there was a spot on the back of my skirt. A tampon and change of clothes was placed in my hands, and she steered me toward our gym lockers in search of something that could pass as clean underwear. There were tests during the last three periods of the day, and, while that may seem average or petty, I am a firm believer that tests don't mix well with cramps and a headache.

When I got home, I took a nap. My homework could screw itself for all I cared. Relena was nice and woke me in time for dinner, though I couldn't say I ate much of it. I wasn't able to get back to sleep after that, either. Have you ever noticed that, when you need the distraction the most, there's nothing on TV? I found that one out first hand and ended up settling for a show about the breeding habits of amphibians. While I had hopped it would put me to sleep, I had no such luck. Consequently, I learned more about frog penises than a person has a want or right to.

I yelled at Relena while getting ready for bed. She suggested I stay in her room for the night- that company might ease some of my anxiety. It wasn't one of my more graceful moments….

"Doro? You could stay with me tonight if you'd like. It might help you sleep. I know how you get when it's your `time of the month'…"

"Goddamnit, Lena! Do you have to rub it in my face? `You could stay with me tonight, Doro…' Augh! I may love you, but that doesn't fucking make you any less of a tease!" I managed to stop myself there, before I could say anything else and excused myself from the room.

I sat on my bed with the door ajar and listened to her finishing up; the sound of brushing teeth and the water being shut off could be heard from down the hall. I saw the crack of light around the edges of my door dim and I knew she'd gone to bed.

Sometime later I caved in and joined her; there was always plenty of room in her bed. It was warm and comforting there, and I fell asleep almost immediately. She'd been right about that, like I knew she was about almost everything.

The next morning I awoke to the firm pressure of arms around my waist. Her blonde hair tickled my nose and chin, and I managed to wake her trying to get it out of my face.

"Good morning, Doro." A kiss and a smile. She got up then, as if she'd been waiting around for me to wake up. And maybe she had been.
