The Past Returns

Author’s Note: Hey everyone!!! I am taking a break from writing Naruto fanfic so I am going back to writing GW fan fics like I used to. Yay!!! So here’s the summary of the story, sort of. After the Mariemaia incident, Heero had moved away from the L1-L5 colony cluster and settled in the agricultural colony cluster. There’s just one little problem. The scientists are alive and thanks to Mariemaia they were able to find the pilots except for Heero. Dr. J continues the search alone knowing that the other pilots and Heero’s friends were not going to talk any time soon. When J finds Heero, he see’s that his perfect soldier is no longer perfect. How will Heero react to Dr. J being alive and back in his life?



Prologue


Hilde sat behind the desk in the office going through paper work when she heard the front door ring signaling a customer. Closing the files Hilde put them to the side before looking up at the customer. He had gray hair that looked like the top of an umbrella; he was slumped slightly and had a scar on the side of his face. Hilde had seen this man before but she could not place her finger on it. Shrugging, Hilde smiled sweetly at the old man before following protocol.

“Morning sir! How can I assist you?”

“Yes. I would like to see Duo Maxwell please.” Hilde looked at the man trying to hold in a laugh. Obviously the man was new to the colony and did not know Duo very well.

“I sorry sir but I am afraid the Duo is busy. He hates to be disturbed when he is working and he has to finish numerous repairs by the end of next week, but I can take a message and give it to him later.” Hilde smiled again but the man glared at her which made her frown. She was getting a bad feeling from this guy.

“Well that is not acceptable. Will you please go tell him now that Professor G is here to visit him?” Hilde froze in place. ‘No it can’t be! They died in the explosion of Libra. They can’t be alive!’ Hilde looked at the man with her mouth gaping open. She got up from her seat before running to the back. She didn’t stop running until she literally ran into Duo who was scratching his head in frustration. He was trying to figure out what was wrong with the engine on a big diesel truck when Hilde practically tackled him to the ground. Duo got up and looked at her and noticed her panicked face.

“Hilde? Hilde? Hilde are you there? Earth to Hilde come in Hilde Come in.” Hilde looked up at Duo before closing her eyes and getting a grip on her nerves.

“There is a man at the front who is claiming to be Professor G” Duo looked at her like she grew two heads.

“Impossible! G died with the other scientists on Libra!”

“Go look for your self then. He looks just like him”

Duo walked down the long hallway to his office. He had told Hilde to bring the man to his office. Duo wanted to talk with this man himself. Duo stopped in front of a black door that had a black door knob and opened it. His office was pitch black as was everything in the room. The chairs that were placed in front of a large black burnt oak desk where a black laptop sat barely noticeable due to the light coming off the screen. Duo closed the door and sat down behind the desk and took out G’s file and read it over. Oddly enough the Gundam pilots had met the same way the scientists did. Through war. All five scientists met during war and met on the battle field like the Gundam pilots have met. Duo gave an aggravated sigh and ran a hand through his bangs. ’Great. More hell’ A knock on his office door told Duo that Hilde had brung the man claiming to be Professor G. ’I have a bad feeling about all this. Then again I could be wrong’

“Come in” Hilde opened the door and allowed G to enter the room. It took some time for his to adjust to the sudden darkness and it took him some more time to pin point exactly where Duo was. ’He still can not be in complete darkness. There’s no way that this would happen. Things were supposed to change. No matter. I will change them my self.’ G smirked as he took a seat in one of the black chairs in front of Duo’s desk. Duo stared at him from under his bangs. G felt like Duo was assessing like he would the mobile suits he used to constantly fight. After fifteen minutes of silence Duo finally spoke.

“So you’re alive.” Duo stared blankly at G. After a year living with Heero, Duo learned how to conceal his emotions well by just watching Heero.

“Yes. I see you haven’t gotten out of the scrape parts business…”

“That is still run by Howard.” Duo finished. His facial expression did not change but a slight flash of anger crossed his violet eyes.

“Is it really? Not surprised.”

“If I was you, I would try not to burn all my bridges now.”

“I see you still live in darkness”

“Like any of that would change. I will never forget what me and the other pilots went through and the hell you scientists kept throwing at us. Don’t even think that I am going to forgive you so easily”

“You chose that life Duo Maxwell!”

“Because I had no other choice! It was going to earth and fighting for the colonies or going back out to the streets. I chose being a Gundam pilot because I did not want to end up back out there. I rather die than to live on the streets again and watch people get rapped and murdered. Being a Gundam pilot was heaven compared to the streets. There was always something different between me and you and that is you have never lived on the streets. You have no idea what it is like to have to sell yourself to get enough money for food. You have no idea how many times I had to sell myself to feed the street kids I was with. That was before I met you!!!” G’s eyes went wide when he realized how young Duo was when he found him in the cargo hold of his shuttle. Shaking the thought out of his head G stared at Duo but could barely see his face. “What do you want anyway?” Duo’s voice cracked but went unnoticed by G.

“I have an assignment for you…”

“No.”

“No? Do you forget that you owe me Duo?”

“No. I didn’t forget.” Duo lowered his eyes in defeat. He still had a contract with G and it was only until he turned twenty which was three months away, but still it was a long time for Duo to still serve under G.

“Good. It’s the usual. You can use your past…experiences help you.” Duo was thankful for the darkness in his office because G would have noticed tears falling down Duo’s cheeks.

“I will see you then”

“The Grand Royale. Six tomorrow night. Try not to be late this time.” Duo heard the door open and close. Once he was sure that G was well out of ear shot, Duo broke down. He was still bound to the son of a bitch for another three months. Duo buried his head in his hands. Howard was not going to like the news at all. Willing the tears to stop Duo picked up the phone receiver and dialed Howard’s cell number. It rang twice before Howard picked up.

“Hey ya Duo!!! What’s up?!?”

“Howard we have a problem”



Trowa was relaxing near the lion’s cage petting him when he saw a shadow loom over head. Thinking it was Katherine, Trowa continued to pet the lion. When the shadow did not move Trowa got suspicious and tensed ready for an attack.

“Always on guard. Never fails. Nice to see you again Trowa.” Trowa froze and smiled. He turned around to see Doctor S. Trowa laughed and hugged S nearly suffocating the poor man by accident. Doctor S just laughed and hugged Trowa back. “I see you’re doing well Trowa”

“Triton”

“Huh?”

“My real name is Triton and I really do belong to the circus.” Trowa smiled and laughed some. S just smiled back happy to see Trowa all right.

“That’s good to hear. At least you won’t be called no name anymore.”

“True. What brings you here? I thought you were dead!”

“I thought so too but here I am. I just want to see how you are doing.”

“Are the others alive as well?”

“Yes of course. G went to see Duo, Master O went to look for Wufei, Doctor H went to Quatre, and J is trying to find Heero. Do you know where he is?” S was confused. Trowa’s expression went from happy to deep in thought then to nervous then to a nervous type of happy.

“I really have no idea where he is. Heero is really good at disappearing.” Trowa looked everywhere but at Doctor S. Trowa knew where Heero was but kept his mouth shut because he promised to not tell anyone. Actually anyone that knew was sworn to secrecy which was not a problem at all.

“You have a point.”

“Yeah. Hey you want anything to eat? It’s almost lunch time.”

“Sounds good to me. Yes.”

“Come on then and let me introduce you to my sister.” S looked at him with obvious confusion “Katherine” S smiled and followed Trowa into the tent.



“Mr. Winner there is a man here that is insisting that he sees you. What should I do sir?” It was Jetta Quatre’s secretary. Quatre rolled his eyes and tried to keep the laughter out of his voice from the obvious frustration that was in Jetta’s.

“Who is he Jetta?”

“Quatre!! Tell this moron to let me in!!!” Quatre’s eyes went wide and he had to restrain himself from squealing out of happiness.

“Sir!! Please!!! Step away from my desk or I will call security!!!!” At this point Quatre was laughing his head. It was fun seeing Jetta getting ruffled by something simple.

“It’s alright Jetta let him in!”

“But Mr. Winner….”

“Don’t argue Jetta. Send him in” The line went dead and Quatre’s office door opened and closed revealing Doctor H standing in front of it smiling. Quatre laughed and got up and practically ran over to him.

“Well I see your happy and doing fine”

“It’s nice to see you again Quatre”

“Nice to see you again as well.”

“You were easy to find.”

“Yeah. I’m afraid I can’t hide my tracks due to my position.”

“I know. The others found the other pilots except Heero. We can’t find him any where” Quatre looked thoughtful for a second before looking at H.

“I can’t remember where he is.”

“Don’t worry about it. J said that he was close to finding him but I think he is going to hit another wall. Heero disappeared very well”

“I see what you mean. Hey do you want to stay for a few minutes? I’m almost done”

“Sure”



Wufei was meditating when one of his students came to him. Wufei sighed and got up looking at the frightened student. Confused Wufei addressed the scared student.

“Mason is everything alright?” The student named Mason nodded his head before speaking.

“Um…there is a man wanting to see you at the dojo…he demands to see you right now”

“Well send him here.” Mason nodded his head. Wufei sat back down on the hill and stared out at the colony. He heard the man approaching so Wufei got up and faced the man but when he saw him, Wufei did not know what to do. Be incredibly shocked or overly happy. He settled for happy.

“Still doing martial arts Wufei?”

“You bet. Like to join me in meditation?”

“It would be my pleasure”



“Howdy there Heero!! Where’s Ms. Jinx?” Heero looked up. It was Alex the cattle rancher from a few miles away. Each plot of land was very spacious and the nearest neighbor was ten miles away. Heero smiled up at Alex.

“Jinx went to town with Melissa. They will be back by late afternoon. Why?”

“I’m afraid my prized cow has ran through her fence again. I swear, why does that damn thing want to go any way.”

“It’s ok Alex. Let me go saddle up Snow and we will head over to the fence and find Mystery from there.”

“Thank you Heero. I really do not need to trouble you.”

“Not at all. It’s not your fault that Mystery keeps escaping. How did she get out of her enclosure any way?”

“I have no idea. I went out to take her to the vets but she wasn’t there. The enclosure was closed tight but I don’t understand how she got out. That asshole Wardley told me he saw Mystery break through Ms. Jinx’s fence and head out to her property.”

“I have a feeling that Wardley has a lot to do with this but we will talk about it later.” Heero got up and headed to the barn to get snow. Once he saddled her up Heero got on and rode her to the east side of the property where Alex’s and Jinx’s end and meet. Alex saw Heero ride out and followed him to the fence. When they got there they rode up and down the fence but saw no damages. Heero got a chill down his back and saw that Wardley was heading towards the barn Heero came out of. Motioning Alex to follow him Heero went o the barn but stopped Snow a little ways away from it so not to alert Wardley. Alex did the same and followed Heero to the other side of the barn.

“Well Mystery you stay here and when Alex finds you he’ll think Heero stole ya. Ha!!! Then I’ll have Jinx to myself.” Alex looked at Heero before whispering.

“That is the most stupid plan I have ever heard.”

“Don’t worry. I have heard worst”

“Well what do you think we should do?”

“Well, wait till he leaves then you get Mystery out of the barn and have Wardley’s plan backfire”

“That’s it?”

“Sorry. It’s a last minute plan”

“Alright. I really wanted to bust Wardley.”

“Be my guest” Alex looked at for a second before entering the barn. There was shouting then silence. Heero entered the barn to see Alex smiling proudly over a tied Wardley.

“Well Heero I have a pan for ya. Let’s call the police to get this worm into jail”

“Sounds good to me”



Doctor J sat behind his computer trying to find Heero. So far he had no leads and Heero was no where on earth or in the colonies except…. J went to the database of the Agricultural colonies and went through each one before he hit colony 68-3X84, a newly built colony where the agriculture was raising pretty fast. Heero’s name was listed in the colonies occupants and J smiled. ’I found you little mouse’ J wrote down the address before leaving.
