THE SIXTH PILOT SAGA:
Episode 5: "The Day After Chaos"
Duo Maxwell awoke with a pounding headche. Not for the first itme, did he realize this meant one of three things:
1) He had been drunk (ruled out)
2) He had been in his Gundam and suffered from some injury (ruled out)
3) He had been making out with some girl the night before (Bingo)
Duo looked over at the sleeping girl beside him on the couch and realized it was none other than Relina Peacecraft......so he hadn't been dreaming after all....weird....
Duo smiled slightly, brushing some of Relina's bangs from her pale face. There was beauty there that he hadn't really seen until last night when Relina had pushed him to "give us a try". The two had spent the evening watching movies and making out on Duo's couch after Relina had sought comfort from him. She didn't seem to be as broken up about Hiro and Aria as he had thought she would be....still, no problems there. Relina had spent at least one evening with him, so he didn't mind at all.
Still...Duo wondered how his buddy Hiro was doing.....

Hiro and Aria were sitting in Hiro's living room, not saying much.....Hiro mentally sighed as he poured the two some coffee, neither able to speak....they had gone far the previous evening....almost too far..it had been a little embarrasing, but both were happy with the current result. They had satisfied their physical needs, but had avoided loosing Aria's blissful virginity.
Hiro was brought back to earth when Aria quietly sipped at her coffee. "So, what now, Hiro Yui?"
Hiro stirred his drink as his eyes locked with hers. A question shone in her gaze, longing for him to explain. Hiro shrugged.
"What do you want?"
"Hiro, what do you want?"
There was silence again, both contemplating their answers. Finally, Aria spoke.
"God when Lord Zex finds out about this, I'm gonna loose my head...literally."
"Will he kill you?"
"Noin will if he dosn't. She loves Zex more than anything else and if I disobey him, I'll die at her hands."
There was silence as the two decided what to do. then, as though on cue, Hiro's laptop sprung into action on the other side of the room, diverting their attention. Hiro rose and checked the laptop.
"What is it?" Aria asked, running her finers through her smooth green hair. Hiro looked at the screen then at her.
"A mission."

"Remember Maxwell, they don't always feel the same way in the morning..." Duo muttered to himself as he cleaned up the remainders of last night's snack fest. Relina had just awoken and was changing into her spare outfit in the bathroom.
Duo thought about the previous 12 hours as he hastily wiped up a table that had been crying out for cleaner. Relina had always been a snob, a total....total...okay, so she was a babe, big deal! Like it mattered to him. Still, he had to admit, she was a much better kisser than Hiro.... at least from his perspective. He wondered what Relina thought about his kissing performance....should he ask? He could make it seem like a joke, and tease it out of her...naw, too.....pushy.
Still, being pushy was part of Duo Maxwell's personality. It wasn't like him to not say what he felt. Duo sighed. How did he feel? He cared about Relina, perhaps a little to much. Duo had been through more than his fair share of one night stands, but this one seemed different. Relina wasn't just some floozie who had seduced an intoxicated Duo, she was a thoughtful and understanding young woman who cared about people, not just sex and money. Even though Duo hadn't slept with her he felt as though he shared more of a bond with her than any other woman...even Hilde.
Hilde seldom entered Duo's thoughts anymore, he felt guilty. He cared about her, and yet....there was something Relina had that he couldn't sense form her....not that she was a shallow person, just that she wasn't right for him....which brought up an interesting question. Was Relina right for him? Was he ready commit himself to her?
Before Duo got a chance to think about this, he felt two hands slipped over his allready shut eyes.
"Guess who!" said a sweet voice form behind him. Duo smiled.
"The Queen of the World?"
"Correct!" Relina laughed as she spun Duo around and flung her arms around him. Duo smiled at her as she leaned against his shoudler.
"I want to thank you Duo, not just for being a great friend and comforting me, but also for showing me affection in a life where I have been starved of it honestly."
Duo was surprised by Relina's words, she normally never spoke like this to him. Could it be that the element of dangerous flirtation she had with Hiro was drifting away?
"You really don't have to thank me, I did what any good friend would do..." Duo was silenced by a kiss, one that sent a shiver of pleasure and peace down his neck and spinal cord. She cared. About him.
"You did more." Relina whispered, her lips still close to his. "I owe you a lot for that."
Duo stared down at Relina, his expression confused.
"Relina, I don't want to be pushy. I just thought that...maybe something would happen that might make you feel better, that's all. It's okay if you don't want to get serious on me, I'll understand." Duo said, giving her an ernest look. Relina nodded.
"I don't want to be puchy either, I just want to be your friend for a while before I know how I feel...is that okay?" she asked, her face questioning. Duo smiled.
"It's great! That way we won't rush into something we don't both mean."
"Exactly. We'll avoid damaging our relationship."
Both were silent. "So, want some coffee?"

Duo and Relina had a wonderful day, starting with a delicious breakfast made by Duo. As it turned out, Duo was a darn good cook, and when it came to scrambeled eggs, toast and bacon, he was the best. Relina laughed at Duo's jokes while he cleaned up the dishes, both smiling almost constantly as they ate. After breakfast, Duo took Relina to the bookstore where he had bought the romance novel, a dusty and old smelling place that specialized in such books. The lady behind the desk was deeply engrossed in one herself, so Duo and Relina whisked past her blistfully and began to examine books, pulling the juiciest ones off the shelves. Upon finding a quite corner, Relina and Duo sat down on the worn blue carpet, taking turns reading out loud to each other and laughing when they acted out hopelessly obsessive roles. Relina particularly enjoyed Duo's portral of one of the more stuffy female charecter's mother, both his imitation voice and his pretending to hold a monacle ammusing. Duo laughed as Relina made her voice deep enough to do a rather arrogant male, Renaldo, for Relina made him sound twice as stuck up as the book suggested. Both tired after a long day of amusment, Duo insisted on walking Relina back to her local mansion.
After a long walk through rainy streets, they at last arrived at Relina's doorstep. Relian turned the key in the lock and stepped inside the doorway.
"So..Duo....that was a great day, thank you, I really enjoyed it."
Duo smiled, though not his usual grin.
"I had fun too, Relina."
There was an awkward pause.
"Um, Duo.." Relina said softly, as he was allready so close to her. Duo looked into her eyes. "Yes?"
"I....I...oh god, Duo, what do we do now?"
"I....I think..."
"Yes?"
Both their voices were choked. Duo found himself leaning tword's her, one of his hands on her face, the other on his umbrella. He couldn't think of the right words.
"R-Relina...."
And all of a sudden, he was kissing her again, running both his hands through her thick golden hair, his umbrella lying forgoten on the ground. Relina leaned into the kiss, putting her arms around his neck, allowing the moment to fully overtake them. When they parted, Duo quickly scooped up his umbrella, and seeing as he was wet anyway, closed it. Relina blushed but smiled.
"Would you like to come inside?"
"Maybe I'd better.."
