“It should have been me….” said Heero

 

Heero finally looked at Wufei and as he did Wufei saw a single tear catch the light of the moon and it twinkled all the way down.

 

~Chapter 9~

 

Wufei did not know what to do. I mean the Perfect Soldier was crying or about as much as he would let himself. What was Wufei supposed to do?

 

The only thing he could.

 

Wufei closed the space that stood between Heero and himself. It seems as though even if he did not know what to do there was something in his mind that did.

 

Even though there was not much space between Heero and himself it seemed like miles.

 

Wufei took one small step and when Heero did not run Wufei took the last step and closed the distance.

 

Heero just looked at Wufei. Not sure of what was happening or how to deal with any of it.

 

`Do I dare?' thought Wufei `I'm so close, it hurts so much'

 

Without any further thought Wufei just opened his arms and placed them around Heero. Tight enough for Heero to know he was there but loose enough so that Heero would be able to get out if he wanted to.

 

Within a few seconds Heero just lost it and clung to Wufei. Not crying because the Perfect Soldier would never cry but just hanging on shaking with the emotions.

The two soldiers who had found Duo took him back with them to their place.

 

While Duo was out they patched him up by taking out the bullet and sewing it up. Then by washing him off so that they could see if there were any other cuts that needed tending to.

 

“Well now what?” asked the second soldier

 

“We wait for him to wake up” said the first soldier

 

 

-Safe house-

 

It was about an hour before sunrise and Wufei and Heero had still not moved.

 

Wufei was afraid of what would happen if he let Heero go. Heero had never had someone hold him like Wufei was now and he wanted it to last as long as he could.

 

`I have to tell him. There's no going back now and I want both of us to start healing' thought Wufei

 

“Heero” whispered Wufei not wanting to break anything

 

Heero looked up at Wufei for a response.

 

“We know that Duo is safe. We have free time to rest and recuperate before any of us gets another mission…” Wufei stopped not knowing where to go from there

 

“Hai, we have a few days to get our self's together” said Heero after a few minuets

 

Wufei's brain seemed to have left the planet at the wrong moment. But Heero looked so beautiful in the morning light that he couldn't say anything even if he wanted to.

 

“God your gorgeous” said Wufei

 

“Thank you” said Heero

 

“I can't believe I just said that out loud. I'm so sorry. I'll leave you alone now. It's time for me to go sleep anyways” said Wufei going to leave

Just before Wufei was out of reach Heero reached out and grabbed Wufei's wrist.

 

Wufei looked down at his wrist which Heero held and then followed Heero's hand to his face and just read those blue, blue eyes.

 

Heero did not know what Wufei was looking for in his eyes but he could not say what he wanted to.

 

This time it was Heero who closed the distance between himself and Wufei.

 

Heero took Wufei's chin in his hand and brought his mouth close, and closer to Wufei's until finally he brushed Wufei's lips with his own.

 

Heero pulled back a little so that he could speak to Wufei.

 

“I don't know what you think about any of this. But I know that if you don't want what I'm offering please tell me now so that I don't invest any more of myself into this then I have” said Heero

 

Wufei was shocked. No Wufei was dumbfounded. He didn't know what to do and it seemed like he couldn't find his voice any where.

 

`They say that actions speak louder then words' thought Wufei

 

“I understand” said Heero making to leave

 

The emotion that Wufei caught in Heero's eyes almost made him weep. Instead he realized he still had Heero's hand and pulled Heero back to him for one of the most passionate kisses ever.

 

The kiss spoke of love, trust, need, lust but above all was the love of friendship.

 

“I take it as a yes” said Heero catching his breath

 

“If you don't maybe this will help convince you” said Wufei
