Chapter 11

 

Someone knocked on the door and Ariel wondered out loud, “Why is someone knocking if the door is locked from the outside?”

“I dunno.” Leslie answered as the door opened and Duo walked in.

“Hey!” He greeted cheerfully, “I thought I might keep you two company.”

“Ok,” Leslie said, “maybe now I'll have a worthy opponent for speed.” She added as she shuffled the cards in her hand.

“Uh… what's speed?” Duo asked and sat down on the floor across from Leslie who was setting the game up.

“Well,” Ariel began, “it's this card game where you have to get rid of all your cards in order faster than you opponent.”

“Yup, do you wanna play?” Leslie asked.

“Sure,” Duo answered. Within a minute the game had finished and Duo had lost. “Wow that went fast.” He commented wondering why he didn't understand the simple concept of the game.

The next day

Ariel and Leslie were once again playing card games when Duo and Quatre walked in.

“Hey,” Duo greeted, “I thought you two might want some new clothes to wear since you've been wearing the same thing for about a week.” He said and handed them each some clothes.

“Thanks Duo.” Ariel said with a smile as she looked down at the black bundle in her hands, “um, but do you thing I could have a shower?”

“Same here.” Leslie interjected.

“No problem,” Quatre answered for Duo who had seemed to have gone momentarily mute. “Come on you can use mine.” Quatre said and signaled for the girls to follow him.

About an hour later Ariel and Leslie had taken a shower and changed into their borrowed clothes. Ariel was wearing all black, courtesy of Duo, and Leslie was wearing Wufei's white pants, navy blue tank top and had a white oriental style jacket hanging from an arm.

As soon as Ariel laid eyes on Leslie she began cracking up; Leslie's eye twitched, “Shut up Ariel.”

The door opened and Duo and Quatre walked in just in time to see Leslie smack Ariel in the back of the head.

“Hey what was that for?” Ariel asked trying to seem hurt but failing due to her uncontrollable laughter.

“Um, you guys look…nice.” Duo complimented slowly, not really receiving a response.

“Man those pants look so funny on you!” Ariel exclaimed after trying to hold in her laughter long enough to accept Duo's compliment but failing.

Leslie twitched again and looked as if she might leap at Ariel at any given moment.

“So…” Quatre said, trying to steer the conversation in a different direction, “What would you girls like to do?”

“I'd like to eat.” Ariel said without hesitation.

“Geesh is that all you thing about?” Leslie asked looking really annoyed.

“Alright then, to the kitchen!” Duo said, disregarding Leslie's statement and lead the way to the kitchen.

 

The next day

It was morning and Leslie's and Ariel's training was supposed to begin today. Heero walked into the room to see Leslie leaning against the wall looking bored and Ariel tying her shoe. At first he was a little surprised to see them in his comrade's clothes before he remembered Duo had come around looking for clothes that could fit them. “Your training is beginning today,” Heero stated. “Ariel, you will be with Trowa, he's down the hall, the third door on your right.” He said and stepped out of the way to let her through and pointed her in the right direction. Leslie looked as if she were going to follow Ariel when Heero blocked her way, “You will be with Wufei, it's the last door on your left,” He informed her and pointed the blonde girl in the opposite direction Ariel had gone.
