`What in the name of all the ancestors did I do to deserve this?'

He was staring at the two humans that were lying down nearby, both looking rather ….. crispy. That made him feel a little better.

The small black dragon hadn't had his second growing yet. He was still very small by dragon standards. It was completely understandable! He would be reaching his majority and growing within the next month, then he'd be about the size of a horse. A very scalely horse.

Right now though he was only about the size of a dog. And with his present attitude probably a bulldog at that. Being smaller was supposed to let him slip away from humans until he was strong enough to withstand their weapons. This time that natural defense had failed. He'd been tackled by one of the two (who really needed to loose a few pounds), pinned by the other and between the two of them had his maw wrapped shut and his body stuffed into a small sack that was far too cramped. Now he only had his neck free and his wings were starting to cramp.

At least the ginger haired one had lost a few inches of hair and the blond one could pass for Mongolian Bar-B-Que. He made a pleased little rumble and smoke rings came out his mouth.

“Damned lizard.”

The blond was glaring at him while the other human bandaged him up. He could swear that damned thing was laughing at him.

“Remind me again why you were so intent on catching that damned beast.”

“Because, dragons in captivity are extremely rare. Caught once full grown they smash their enclosure to bits and usually have to either be sealed away or killed. Small though, they can be trained. And that one is a rarity even among dragons.”

“What it's more vile tempered than the rest?”

The dragon spat a small ember at him. He still jumped. The ginger-haired one barely suppressed a chuckle at his partner's jump.

“No, didn't you get a look at it?”

“I was a bit too worried about the thing trying to claw my eyes out!”

“It's a black dragon. With a gold tone.”

The blond haired one stopped and looked more than a bit surprised.

“You mean it'll be a shape shifter?”

“Yes. And if we can train it, then think of what we could actually do.”

The dragon listened to everything and resisted the urge to roll its eyes.
