Gundam Wing Fan Fiction ❯ Universal Clash ❯ Meetings and Greetings ( Chapter 1 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
"Hey, what's that?"
"What's what, Duo?"
"That. Over there in the sky," Duo replied pointing.
Heero patiently looked towards the sky. He frowned at what he saw. "Looks to me like the whole sky is about to storm."
CRASH!! Thunder struck a building and glass shattered around them. Soldiers in dark armor came out of nowhere and started grabbing people.
"Let's go," Heero commanded and they bolted for an alleyway. Crouching down, they hid behind several garbage cans.
"Heero?" Duo asked. "What are the chances of lightening striking a building like that?"
"Not very high," Heero answered. "What is going on here?"
Duo stood up cautiously. "Let's go find Relena and the guys. This is freaking me out."
Heero glanced around. "Duo? Listen. There's absolutely no sound. Nothing electric anyway."
Duo listened hard. "Wait a second. I hear something. Over there." He pointed towards a river. "Let's go."
"We should only scout," Heero replied. "If it gets to dangerous, we'll get our Gundams."
Duo nodded and they ran off towards the river.
"Trowa? You okay?"
Trowa opened his eyes and rubbed his head. "Yes. How about you Quatre? Are you hurt?"
Quatre shook his head. "No, I'm fine. Can you stand? You took a pretty nasty hit on the head."
Trowa slowly got to his feet, massaging his head. "What happened? Where is everyone?"
"I'm not sure," Quatre replied. "The sky turned dark and everyone got captured by these really weird soldiers. Nothing electronic works." He held up his cellular phone. "I haven't been able to call anyone to see if they're all right."
"Let's go see if anyone needs help," Trowa suggested. "Maybe we can find the others while we're at it."
Quatre looked thoughtful. "I wonder why this happened. You would think that if it was a terrorist group they would at least keep the electricity working so they can make threats and demands."
"Let's wonder about this later," Trowa said. "We have to find the others. At least Heero. He's the one that gets the orders."
Quatre nodded. They walked off into the city, looking for the others.
Relena ran around a building and ran into someone. She was knocked to her butt in the dirt.
"Are you all right?" the woman asked.
"I'm fine," Relena answered. She stood up and noticed a white tiger coming towards them. "Aaaaa!"
The woman quickly turned and noticed the big cat. "Oh! Don't worry. That's White Blaze. He's a good tiger, and won't hurt you."
Relena took a deep breath and noticed that a kid was holding the tiger's tail. The woman realized what she was looking at and smiled. "His name is Yuli. I'm Mia Kochi."
Relena returned the smile. "My name is Relena. Relena Peacecraft."
Mia turned and walked off. "Come with me. We'll be all right as soon as we find some friends of ours."
Relena followed behind, at a safe distance from the tiger.
Wufei crouched by the wall in the shadows. Watching the strange creatures fight was fascinating. He could almost swear that they were human.
"Watch out!" the one in green yelled. It smashed another metal fighter that was behind the one in red.
"Thanks," Red replied.
"No problem," Green answered. He glanced over at the alleyway Wufei was in, and Wufei thought he saw him. Red and Green defeated the rest of the soldiers and looked around them. "Where is everyone else?"
Clink. Green snapped his head at the sound of something dropping on the stones. He held his sword in a battle position. "Who's out there!?"
Wufei froze. "Great, I've been caught," he thought. He took a deep breath and held up his hands in surrender. He walked out into the open where the strange fighters could see him. He looked at them and noticed that they were in shock. The green one dropped his offensive stance and stared at him.
"Who are you?" the red one asked.
Wufei remained silent.
"Why don't you answer?" Green asked. "We won't hurt you."
"I don't trust you," Wufei answered simply.
"Well," Red sighed. "My name's Ryo. This is Sage."
"Ryo and Sage," Wufei repeated. "You're human?"
Ryo nodded. "And I'm assuming you are too?"
Wufei nodded shortly. "I'm looking for some people. If you don't mind, I'll be leaving now." He turned and started to leave.
"Wait!" Ryo called. "We can't let you run around like this. It's far too dangerous out there."
"I'm a big boy," Wufei retorted without stopping. "I can take care of myself."
Sage ran forward and grabbed his arm. Wufei went into automatic mode and flipped Sage over his shoulder and onto the ground. "Sorry," Wufei smirked. "Reflex." He stepped over Sage and walked away.
Sage got up and Ryo ran after Wufei. "At least let us come with you. Although the chance that your friends are here is remote."
Wufei ignored them and continued walking away. He didn't protest as they followed him, so Ryo and Sage went after him.
Heero walked slightly in front of Duo. He stopped behind a small stand and positioned himself on his stomach. He motioned for Duo to do the same. Duo complied, complaining quietly about vacations that totally suck dirt. Heero crawled on his stomach until he was under a car that was parked on the edge of the river bank. Duo crawled after him and located himself next to Heero on the ground.
"What's going on?" Duo whispered.
"A fight," Heero replied, sounding wistful. "And I'm missing it."
Duo shook his head and sighed. "Wonder what's going . . ."
"Superwave smasher!!"
The ground erupted in front of them and water was sent flying around them. Water was washed under the car and Heero and Duo backed out from under it, soaked.
"What was that!?" Duo screamed in a whisper, starting to panic.
Heero didn't answer. He ducked behind the car, Duo following after him.
A soldier in light blue appeared. It climbed out of the water and looked around. It noticed Heero and Duo kneeling behind the car. "Hey! Who are you!?"
Heero sprang up and leaped backwards, pulling out his gun at the same time. Duo followed by half a second. "Don't move or I'll shoot!" Heero yelled at the blue soldier.
The blue fighter stopped and its mask thing went up. "Hey! Put that away or you'll hurt someone!"
Duo snorted. "Yeah, you. Move an inch and I'll bet a lot of money that you won't live."
The soldier hesitated. "What are your names?"
"Why do you care?" Heero snapped.
The soldier seemed slightly taken aback. "Come with me. I can help you. Please?"
Duo glanced at Heero. Heero shook his head so slightly that Duo almost missed it. "Thank you for your offer, but we'll be leaving now," Duo answered and walked away. Heero followed backwards with his gun still pointing towards the blue soldier. Suddenly the soldier's gaze widened and Heero bumped into Duo.
"Keep walk . . ." Heero stated and turned around. "Whoa."
A million black soldiers were behind them with weapons pointing at them. All of them looked totally serious.
"Um, Hee . . ." Duo started when Heero nudged him hard.
"Don't say my name," Heero muttered.
"What are we going to . . ." Duo began when the soldiers closest to them leaped at them.
Heero aimed and fired his gun. The bullet penetrated the armor but didn't faze it at all. The soldier swung his sword at Duo, but Duo ducked and grabbed the sword, twisting the weapon out of the warrior's grasp.
Heero did the same with a soldier and its spear that had slashed his leg. "Now you'll pay," Heero muttered and attacked the soldiers.
"Watch it!" the blue fighter cried and attacked the soldiers that were after Heero and Duo.
Duo noticed that the blue fighter had lots of power. "Hee . . . Dude! Come on!" he yelled at Heero.
Heero glanced at Duo and nodded. They both took off for the beach a few hundred yards down the river bank. "If we can get to our Gundams," Heero said to Duo, "defeating those things will be easy."
Duo nodded and they leaped towards the water. Diving in, they swam towards their Gundams. Heero got in his and started it up. Within a few minutes he and Duo were standing on the beach in their Gundams.
"Let's go kick some metallic butt!" Duo yelled and started walking towards the city.
Quatre followed Trowa around a building and bumped into him. "What's up?"
Trowa pointed. "It's the Deathscythe."
Quatre followed his finger and noticed that the Deathscythe was knocking a bunch of people around. "What's he doing?"
"You know who that is!?"
Trowa and Quatre whirled around and saw a dark blue warrior and an orange warrior standing behind them.
Trowa reacted immediately, pulling out his gun and aiming it towards the warriors. "Who are you!?"
Orange looked at them. "Uh, Rowen? Would a gun do anything to us?"
Blue shrugged. "Depends on the gun."
Quatre had managed to pull out his own gun by this time and moved beside Trowa. "I don't want to shoot. But if you will be our enemy, I will not hesitate."
Blue looked at Orange. "Uh, we aren't your enemies. This is just a big mistake. We just want to know if you know that big guy over there."
Trowa looked suspicious. "Are you with Romefeller?"
"Romefeller?" Blue asked. "No, we're with . . . uh . . . we're with . . ." he glanced at Orange. Orange shrugged.
"What about Oz?" Trowa asked again.
"The movie gave me nightmares," Orange answered. "I hated those flying monkeys."
Quatre looked over towards the Deathscythe. "He's shooting everything he sees."
"If he's over there," Trowa said, "Heero can't be far away. Especially if there's a fight."
"Where there's a battle, there's Heero," Quatre said with a small smile.
BOOM!!
Trowa, Quatre, Blue, and Orange were knocked to their butts by the force of the shockwave.
The Deathscythe had fallen and was now sprawled a few yards in front of them.
Quatre jumped up. "Duo! Are you all right!?"
Duo wiped the blood off his forehead.
"Duo! Are you all right!?"
Duo looked at his monitors and realized that Quatre and Trowa were right in front of him. "Whoa! Are you two okay!? Holy crap, I could have killed you two!"
Quatre smiled. "We're fine! Where's Heero!?"
Duo shrugged, even though he knew Quatre couldn't see him. "Around. Lost him when a million warriors came out of nowhere. Bullets don't affect them, so get your Gundams."
Trowa nodded. "We will look for Heero."
Duo grinned. "This is more fun than destroying mobile dolls." He looked at his screens and noticed that more soldiers had come and wrapped a bunch of roped around his legs. "Hey, what happened to the word 'go'?" He fired his beam cannon and blew them up. "Heh, looks like you didn't have a prayer." He finished up by stomping on as many as he could. "Wow, I need to do this more often." Duo took a look at his monitors and realized that no more were coming after him. "Looks like I can take a break." He powered down his Gundam and jumped to the ground.
Heero finished annihilating the troops and looked at his screens. "Most of the weapons and monitors aren't working," he said to himself. "Must be a problem with the storm clouds." He went to a nearby beach and stashed his Gundam far underwater. Opening the hatch, he swam up towards the surface. Unable to hold his breath any longer, he released the air and stopped swimming. Suddenly, he felt someone grab him. He struggled hard, trying to get out of the grasp that held him. Breaking to the surface, he took a breath of air and looked to who held him.
"Let me go," Heero commanded the light blue fighter.
"Just wait," he said. He jumped up with Heero and let him go on the beach.
Heero shoved himself away from the soldier. "I didn't ask for your help."
"Heero!"
Heero turned and saw Quatre and Trowa running towards him. He examined his leg as they caught up to him.
"Are you all right?" Quatre asked. "Your leg looks pretty bad."
"I'll survive," Heero said shortly. "I need a medical kit, though."
Trowa nodded and pulled one out of his utility belt. Heero quickly bandaged his thigh and shook it to get the blood flowing. He noticed the soldiers that had followed Quatre and Trowa were staring at his soaked clothes. "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," Orange replied. "Are you okay Cye?"
"Yeah," Light blue answered.
"What happened to that big thing?" Dark blue asked.
Heero looked suspicious. "The Gundam?"
Orange looked confused. "Before we get into a really heavy conversation that I know will go way over my head, let's get to know each other's names. Mine's Kento."
"I'm Rowen," the dark blue soldier said.
"And I'm Cye," the light one said. "What are yours?"
Quatre hesitated. He glanced over to Heero, who nodded. "I'm Quatre. This is Heero and Trowa."
"Quatre, Heero, and Trowa?" Kento asked. "Where are you from?"
"None of your business," Heero snapped. He walked off. "I'm leaving. Where's the nearest airport?"
Cye looked surprised. "Where are you going?"
Heero ignored him and continued walking. Quatre ran after him and tapped his shoulder. "Heero? Let's be nice. We still don't know what's going on."
Heero hesitated. Rowen took advantage of his hesitation. "Then let's go find our friends." He walked off with Kento and Cye.
Trowa looked at Quatre and Heero and nodded. They followed the strange warriors into the depths of the dark city.
"What's what, Duo?"
"That. Over there in the sky," Duo replied pointing.
Heero patiently looked towards the sky. He frowned at what he saw. "Looks to me like the whole sky is about to storm."
