From: "Zechs Marquise" <lebaronrouge@…edu>
Subject: Arrival
To:"Heero Yuy"<hyuy@preventers…>
Well, I have finally settled in. It is already dusk here, and from my little room I can already hear the chirping crickets and other sounds of the approaching night. The swiftly purpling sky - more blue than purple really - reminds me of your eyes… But of course, were you here, I think you would think it much closer to * his * eyes…
Today we traveled by car for four hours to this little rest stop. - Impossible to describe it in any other way - being neither town nor village - with its picturesque houses and tiny cobblestone alleyways. There is a charm to it - a freshness that brings every overused, yet apt cliché of rusticity to the mind. I try to decide whether you would like it or not and cannot. So little of our desires now seem to coincide…
There is a romance to everything here - in the walls, in the air, in the flowers-So much so that I was almost inspired to write you one of those long, old-fashioned letters and send it as they did then, by post. But that would be of little interest to you I am sure, being impractical. You are probably settling down right about now, dutifully preparing to work on your reports and eating one of those quick dinners I despise-
Or perhaps you are not alone…
Tomorrow I leave for Paris.
Zechs.>>
[[The preventers' jacket fell unceremoniously to the floor under Zechs' nimble fingers and Heero frowned, turning to look disapprovingly at the dark material pooling at the foot of the stairs. Zechs insistently tugged him towards their bedroom. Dark brows lowered.
"Mill--"
"Leave it." Zechs interrupted huskily. "I've been waiting all day to get my hands on you." The door shut softly behind them as he pulled Heero close. "And I do not intend to stop until I'm satisfied."
Heero tilted his head back slightly to regard the larger man. " Weren't you supposed to be working hard on that book of yours?" he inquired, raising a serious brow in that typically *Heero * fashion that Zechs so adored.
"Mmm hmm," the tall blonde murmured, nuzzling Heero's neck and making quick work of the buttons on his shirt. He bent, parting the soft folds - large hands slipping inside to caress the warm skin beneath. "Where do you think I get my inspiration?"
The slender brunette grunted - then shuddered as a hot tongue lazily circled the whorls of his ear. Talented lips suckled at the skin of his neck, the hollow of his collarbones - found the hard peak of a nipple. Heero arched, head falling backwards as cloth whispered down his legs. His belt jingled noisily against the carpet.
Zechs caressed him, stroked him with sweet familiarity in all the right spots - in all the right ways. And he trembled, moaning softly as their passions became one.
Gold strands tickled his face. Zechs' weight pressed him warmly against the pillows as azure eyes locked with navy.
"I love you."
The brunette nodded quietly. "Always."]]

[["So you will not reconsider?"
Zechs peered irritably over his mug at Heero. The soft clacking of keys continued uninterrupted.
"No. Duo and I must complete this mission within a week." Heero looked up from beneath dark bangs. "A vacation is out of the question."
Zechs felt the heat of anger build within. Heero's lips were still bruised from his kisses. Crimsoning splotches of love-bites still bright upon his skin. The picture of perfect sensuality: cold, marble smooth and immovable…"When was the last time we spent an evening together?" he demanded. His tone was calm, his look challenging.
Heero rubbed his eyes. He sighed. "Zechs…not this week…"
"When then? You've just returned after two whole weeks away and now you're off again. Evenings spent alone and a quick bang between your * visits * is not my idea of quality time Heero. " Abruptly he pushed away from the table. The chair rocked precariously on its heels as he crossed over to the serious brunette. His voice darkened.
"Or perhaps it is the incentive you lack," the blonde murmured silkily.
He spun Heero to face him, grasped the crumpled lapels of the too large shirt the brunette wore and undid all the tiny blue buttons trailing from throat to mid thigh. He pushed the material back until it hung from slender shoulders, exposing the cool skin beneath. Slowly, he bent to nuzzle a silky neck...
Heero tensed and flushed, the dark color spreading rapidly across his skin. "No." He turned away.
Zechs' head snapped sharply back at the rejection. Hurt swiftly bloomed into anger. "Who has touched you but me?" he demanded menacingly.
Heero's blue eyes widened then narrowed. Calmly, he stood, pulling the edges of his shirt together. He looked levelly at the other man. "You are being irrational," the brunette stated simply as he began to walk away. " I am going to get ready."
"Am I?" Zechs pursued doggedly as he followed Heero up the steps and into their bedroom. He whirled on the younger man, forcing the dark beauty to face him. "Things have changed between us Heero," his voice trembled under the force of his anger. "Or didn't you expect me to notice?"
Heero frowned darkly, his own anger beginning to spark. "I think we should end this conversation before we both end up saying things we don't mean," he warned lowly. "I do not want to be late."
The large blonde stalked him, coming to stand so close to his smaller lover that they were almost touching. Azure eyes blazed with suspicion. "I think perhaps that you are more eager to meet Duo than to complete this mission," he accused heatedly. " I've seen the way you look at him."
"I have no interest in Duo," Heero answered stiffly, meeting Zechs' gaze with his own. "You know I have never been with anyone but you," he added quietly.
Zechs' lips pursed briefly, as he regarded the dark-haired youth. "So I thought," he said softly. " But you have been distant…unresponsive…" His eyelids flickered painfully. "-Even in bed…" Jealously flared, hot and destructive. "When did my touch cease to be enough?" he demanded accusingly.
Heero's lips tightened. He regarded the older man levelly for the space of a few breaths then turned abruptly away. "I have work to do."]]
Heero stared out at the window in front of him. Long shadows caressed the walls, their gray, restless movements mirroring his mood. His work lay untouched before him on his desk, the meal he'd prepared cold and equally abandoned. Heero sighed. Tiredly the brunette ran his fingers through his hair as he booted up his laptop. It started up with a smooth purr; the monitor's greenish light taxing his already strained eyes. Numbly he logged into the software program he was working on for the Preventers and began typing away at the complex coding. Normally, He would have enjoyed this, but tonight, he was distracted, the unexpected email from Zechs stirring feelings he'd been trying to suppress. It had been two weeks and already it felt like a year. Heero wasn't sure what he had expected of their relationship. Certainly he had come in with no real idea of what such a thing could even entail… But Zechs had planted himself into his life and after a while…well, Heero started to hope that he would stay…
The young man sipped absently at his coffee. He reopened the email and read it again slowly…
With the success of the Zechs' new novel and the constant interviews, Heero had become more and more aware of how ill suited they were to each other. Zechs was a social being. Charismatic and graceful: the shrewdness of the ex-soldier balanced with the charm of a gentleman. In short, Zechs was beautiful and talented and worldly - and perfectly suited to a world of peace…
Heero knew he was a Preventer. A world without war was something he grappled with daily. Not that he wished for those terrible days again - by no means. But his entire life - his very identity - had been structured around conflict. He knew little else and doubted that he ever would. Zechs had shown him tenderness, had taught him about love and emotion and desire. But when would Zechs tire of his sharp edges, Heero wondered. -His awkwardness, his inexperience? How could someone like Zechs be satisfied with him? Especially, now, when his talent had inevitably thrust him into the midst others who better understood him.
So he slowly began to pull away, throwing himself in his work in the hopes of making the inevitable separation easier. It had been a cowardly move, Heero realized now. And he regretted - oh so much. But, Zechs' jealousy he had not expected. Duo had been an unforeseen complication and the accusations had turned bitter. Hurtful…
As if sensing his thoughts a message flashed upon the screen. Heero clicked it, recognizing the address:
<<Date: Friday, November 1, 2…

Heero,
Just got off work. I know you're home alone probably busting ur ass over that program. It's Friday night man. What do you say we go out for some drinks or something? I know just the perfect place. Hit me back and tell me what you wanna do.
Duo>>
Heero hesitated, Zechs' accusations ringing sharply in his ears, fingers poised over the keys as he debated whether to accept the invitation or not. The brunette moved the mouse over to the delete button, and then stopped. He was accomplishing nothing here at home. Would a few drinks really make a difference? At the very least Duo's company would provide some much-needed distraction, he reasoned. Firming his resolve he hit the reply button. Maybe a night away from home was just what he needed.
