Breathe You In
A Gungrave fan fiction by Setzuka
Note: This is a NC-17 yaoi fan fiction containing the pairing Bear Walken/Cid Gallarde. Mild AU. Cid seeks comfort in an old friend.
After the pair of younger men had left, Cid took up residence on Bear’s couch, lying across the soft cushions. He stared up at the ceiling, his thoughts weighing heavily upon him. Bear regarded the man from behind tinted glasses. The man had seemed so happy, reminiscing and imparting his hard-earned wisdom to the newer members of the fold. However, his friend had taken quite a bit to drink, something Bear hadn’t known him to do for some time.
“What’s wrong, Cid,” Bear questioned in a smooth, baritone voice. “It’s not like you to drink so much.”
Cid still gazed up into nothing as he answered his friend. “It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you, Bear, so I suppose that I got a little carried away.”
Bear gave the man a half smile before sipping his drink, “You’re getting old, Cid.”
His companion chuckled softly, responding, “So are you,” before falling silent again.
Even after all this time, Bear could still tell when his friend was troubled. He hoped that Cid would break his silence to confide in him. The pair had gone through many trials together as they rose through the ranks, starting out as rivals in a conflict that could have ended life needlessly. Strangely enough, the two emerged from it with a new-found respect for each other which had lasted to this day. Bear could honestly say that he never had a truer friend than Cid, and knew the feeling to be mutual.
In light of that, Bear tried again. “Is something on your mind, Cid?”
Initially, the only response he received was a sigh. Then Cid shook his head slightly, rising into a sitting position as he spoke. “It’s nothing important. Just thinking about how nice it is to be young, to have the kind of energy to achieve anything. Back then, I thought that my only limit was my own will.”
The other man gazed back at his friend from across the low table. “You have achieved a great deal, Cid. No one can deny that.”
Cid stared down at his clasped hands which rested across his knees. “I suppose that you’re right, Bear,” he answered. “But there are times that I wonder about what could have been, had I done this or that instead. Missed chances…wrong choices.”
At that, Bear rose from where he sat to join his friend on the couch, sitting beside him as he placed an arm around Cid’s shoulders in a friendly hug.
“What do you mean by wrong choices?”
Cid shook his head as he tried to put on a happier façade, laughing. “Don’t worry about me. It’s just the ramblings of a drunk old man mourning the loss of his youth.”
A firm hand squeezed his shoulder. “You’re not that old yet, Cid. You have quite a few years left. There’s no need to talk like this.”
Cid turned to face the other man. “At any moment, life can be taken from you, especially when it comes to people like us. I guess it entitles us to a little bit of melancholy from time to time.”
Giving his companion a half-smile, Bear responded, “But there are usually friends there to pull you out of it when needed, if a person is lucky enough to have a friend like me, of course.”
Cid gave a genuine laugh at that. “It’s a good thing that I’m lucky then, isn’t it?” He gave his friend a pleasant smile. “We had quite a time when we were a couple of young dogs, didn’t we, Bear?”
The other man smiled back at him. “Yeah, that’s true.”
Cid regarded his friend through a half-lidded gaze. He wondered if Bear had forgotten about some of the things that happened way back then, before children and wives and other entanglements had come upon them. He remembered a time not so different than now, when he had been troubled, and the world had seemed to be caving in around him. Cid recalled how he’d been drunk and self-destructive, and how Bear had showed him that there were things in this world that made it worth staying in. How family wasn’t only defined by blood. How women weren’t the only ones who could be gentle. He still remembered eyes like fine wine gazing down into his.
Bear frowned slightly as he noticed his friend’s proximity, as well as a hand on his thigh toying with the fabric of his yukata. “What are you doing, Cid.”
Cid grinned slightly. “Nothing. Just an old man feeling nostalgic.”
The man loomed closer, planting a kiss on the other’s lips. Noting his friend’s mild surprise, Cid smiled, reaching out to take the glasses from Bear’s face, placing them onto the table. He smiled at the site of burgundy. “It’s a shame to cover up such fine eyes as those, Bear.”
Cid moved closer, an arm winding around Bear’s waist as the other reached up to stroke chocolate skin, trailing down to a well-groomed beard. Bear found lips against his again, and wondered why he was allowing this. He supposed that it was because Cid needed him right now, needed somehow to be grounded, but was unsure of how to ask. As in the past, Bear wouldn’t deny his close friend.
Bear began to respond to Cid, winding his arms around him and pulling him close. He parted the other man’s lips to kiss him deeply. Cid moaned as their tongues danced in the cavern of his mouth. Tilting his head back, Cid sighed as his friend nibbled down his neck, beard tickling sensitive skin. He could feel a hand sliding into the opening in his shirt, caressing a nipple. Cid could feel heat stirring from deep within, a flame he thought he’d lost long ago. Nimble fingers unfastened the buttons holding the fabric of his shirt. Once creamy flesh was revealed, Bear began to kiss his way down his friend’s chest, approaching his target. Cid moaned softly, head rolling back on his shoulders, as Bear laved a sensitive nipple.
Pulling away somewhat, Bear slid jacket and shirt off of the other’s shoulders. The clothing pooled haphazardly onto the floor. He leaned back in to kiss his way down Cid’s body, older, but still as pleasing as it was back then. Bear took up a kneeling position in front of the other man. He paused to tease his companion’s navel, moist tongue thrusting in and out in a promise of pleasures to come. Bear made short work of the fastenings of Cid’s trousers, sliding them down and off of his ankles. Cid’s chest heaved as he gazed down at the site before him in anticipation of what would occur, something he’d had many a dream about in times past.
Wrapping a hand around his close friend, Bear leaned in to taste him. Cid shivered as he felt warm breath against the most sensitive part of him. He groaned loudly when he felt moist heat engulf him, his head falling against the back of the couch. Cid buried a hand in Bear’s hair, massaging gently. Bear gazed upward as his mouth worked to see the rise and fall of his chest. He closed his eyes, taking his friend farther into his warm mouth on each stroke.
It was even better than Cid remembered it to be, that delicious suction surrounding him. Seeing pale skin disappear into chocolate. Looking higher to see his friend’s eyes open, that red stare gazing back at him intently, the passion within bubbling out from the mask of calm. If Bear kept looking at him like that, there was no way he was going to last.
“Bear,” Cid moaned, “I don’t know if I can hold out for much longer.”
His companion looked up from where he kneeled, pausing in his task to give the other man a smile. “I always was a bit too much for you, Cid.”
Cid chuckled slightly as Bear rose from his knees. He noticed Bear’s frown. “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t have anything that we can use.”
Cid leaned down to grasp his pants which were crumpled on the floor. He retrieved a small packet from the pocket, tossing it to his friend.
Bear smiled as he shook his head. “Quite the boy scout. What made you think of carrying this around?”
Cid gave him a sly smile. “I was hoping that you would invite me to stay over at your place to catch up on things.”
Bear found lips on his again as Cid captured his mouth in a kiss as he unfastened Bear’s yukata, letting it fall to the floor. Time had been very kind to his companion. Taking in the still well-built body, Cid said, “That body of yours puts mine to shame.”
Bear leaned in to kiss the other man. “There’s nothing wrong with your body, Cid,” he told him while stroking a nude thigh.
The taller man pulled away to open the tube he had been given, squeezing it into his hand. Cid decided to distract him by leaning over from where he sat to taste his friend. Bear paused to sigh at the sensation of the man’s lips around him. He placed a hand on his companion’s shoulder, enjoying Cid ministrations for a while before pulling away somewhat, urging the man to turn around and kneel on the couch. Cid complied, relaxing as he felt slick fingers press into his entrance, bracing his arms against the back of the sofa. First one, then two fingers began to stretch him. The man breathed deeply as Bear worked on him. Cid groaned when a spot within him was stroked, making him shiver.
Bear could tell that his friend was ready for him. He nudged Cid’s thighs further apart with one knee. He placed a hand on the other man’s waist as he guided his member toward its target. Cid shivered slightly as he felt the head of his comrade’s erection press against him, slipping inside. Bear paused as he felt his friend tighten around his length to let him adjust to the invasion. After Cid had relaxed somewhat, the other man pushed inside slowly and steadily until he was in to the hilt. Grasping his waist with both hands, Bear set up a gentle rhythm, stroking deeply.
After a few moments, the thrusts became firmer, the sound of flesh against flesh audible in the room. Cid grunted on each stroke, his fingers digging into fabric where he clutched the couch. He leaned down to rest his forehead on the back of the sofa between his hands, moaning loudly. A change in the angle of penetration had him seeing stars as he arched his back.
Cid couldn’t help but call out his friend’s name, a plea for more of the delicious treatment. Bear answered that call, stepping up the pace and reaching around to wrap a hand around his friend’s erection, stroking.
“Is it as good as you remember?” the taller man asked his companion in a voice roughened by desire.
Cid turned his head, regarding his friend over one shoulder with a half-lidded gaze full of bliss. “No…it’s much better. Bear, let me see you.”
The other man leaned down to capture that open mouth in a kiss before pulling out and away, guiding the other man to turn to face him. Taking each thigh into his hands, Bear spread them, entering his comrade in one smooth thrust. He earned an open-mouthed groan for his actions. Cid reached up to grasp his companion’s shoulders, pulling him closer. Bear quickly returned to his previous firm pace, using one hand to stroke Cid’s erection. The other man mewled loudly as he writhed at the combined sensations. He looked up into Bear’s intense face, a bead of perspiration running down the side of his face. That piercing red gaze boring into him.
In between moaning, Cid managed to get out in a breathy voice, “Aah, Bear. I love your eyes. I want to drink you in.”
Bear smiled broadly, looming closer. “Then have a taste.”
He caught Cid’s open lips in a kiss made sloppy by intense desire, and the distraction of the pleasure of being inside his friend’s tight heat. A change in angle and depth had Cid breaking the kiss to arch his back and stiffen. “Oh, God, Bear!” His grip on Bear’s arms tightened almost painfully as he reached his peak. Cid spilled himself warmly between their bodies.
Bear continued to thrust into the constricting passage until this became too much for him. Groaning loudly, he pushed in deep, painting his companion’s insides with his essence. He slumped against the other man somewhat, head in the crook of his shoulder. The pair tried to catch their breath from the exertion. Bear moved to sit beside his friend, draping himself over the back of the couch. Cid regarded his exhausted companion through a half-lidded gaze. For now, he would bask in the afterglow. He’d pretend that tomorrow would never come. Cid knew that this was most likely his last night on earth. He couldn’t think of a better way to spend it than with such a special friend.
