Chapter Two
Visit
Itachi and Kisame are on their way to the Hidden Leaf Village. They are jumping through the trees. They are wearing regular clothing instead of their uniforms.
“Hey, Itachi,” Kisame said.
“Hm?”
“Since we're going to be gone for a year, we need to make this visit count. We've never been gone this long. The longest we've been gone is three days, and Momoshiro is the cause of that.” Kisame said.
“Yeah, I know.”
Over at the Uchiha residence, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura were playing in the Living Room. All three of them were five years old. Sasuke and Naruto are wrestling on the floor, while Sakura is sitting on the couch watching them and laughing.
“Give up yet, Naruto,” asked Sasuke as he has Naruto pinned down.
“Never,” Naruto said. He grabs Sasuke's shoulders and they start rolling around. Then, they hear a knock on the door. All three heads look towards the door.
“I'll get it!” Sasuke said as he is getting up off the floor, then runs to answer the door. When he opened the door, Sasuke's eyes widen, and a smile grows on his face. “Big brother!!”
Naruto and Sakura quickly run to the door beside Sasuke with happy expressions on their faces.
“Hey there you little squirts!” Kisame said as he and Itachi enter the Uchiha home.
“Kisame!!” They yelled as they tackle him. Sasuke and Naruto grab Kisame's legs, and Sakura gets behind him and jumps up onto his back.
“Aaaahhhh!!!! I'm being attacked by the Midget Ninja Squad of the Hidden Leaf!!!! Why don't you three ever attack Itachi!?”
Kisame takes them into the Living Room, waving his arms like a maniac. Itachi's mother and father walk in to see what the fuss is about. “Oh, Itachi, welcome home!” his mother said giving him a hug.
“Hello mother,” He then turns to his father.
“Welcome home, son,” said his father, also giving him a hug.
“Help me!!!!”
Itachi and his mom and dad turn to the Living Room and see Kisame on the floor, and the kids on his back laughing.
“I can take down A-rank and S-rank criminals, but when it comes to these midgets, I can't do squat!” Kisame said laying his head on the floor in defeat.
Itachi's mom giggled. “Are you two going to stay for dinner?”
“I think we can stay that long. We don't have to leave until later.” Itachi said.
“Leave? You guys have another mission?” Naruto asked.
“Yep! We just got back from one not to long ago.” Kisame said.
“Oooooh! Tell us about it! Tell us! Tell us! Tell us!” All three kids pleaded.
“Oh, alright! The mission took a whole three days to complete…”
“Kisame tells those kids about your missions every time you two come to visit,” Itachi's mother said. “Would you like some tea?”
“I'll have some thanks,” Kisame said. Then he continues telling the story.
“Of course, I'll have some,” Itachi said. Itachi's mother disappears into the kitchen to make some tea.
“So son, what's this new mission about?” his father asked. Itachi then frowns. He doesn't really know, or wants to know how they will react when he tells them that they're going to be gone for a whole year.
“Well… I don't exactly know how to tell you this,” Itachi said scratching the back of his head. “But let's just say we're going to be gone for a while.”
“Here's the tea,” his mother said. She's carrying a tray with four cups, a tea kettle, and three little juice packs. She walks into the Living Room and sets the tray on the small table. Kisame and the kids walk over to the table, and the kids grab the juice packs. Itachi's mother fills the cups with tea, and they drank.
“Anyways, back to the mission…” Kisame said, after taking a sip of his tea, to the kids. And he finished off the story.
“How long are you two going to be gone?” Itachi's father asked taking a sip of his tea.
“Well, Pein said we would be gone for at least…a year,” Itachi said. Now there was a long silence. “This ain't going to be good,” Itachi thought to himself.
“WHAAAAAAAT!?” His father slams the cup on the table almost shattering it. “That's ridicules! Why the hell do you have to be away for a whole year!?”
“Apparently, that's what the letter requesting our help said how long we might be gone,” Kisame said.
“Can't they send someone else?” Itachi's mother asked.
“The letter says that the client would like for the strongest out of the group. So me and Kisame qualify,” Itachi said drinking more tea. “But you don't have to worry. I'll write to you and let you know how things are progressing.”
That clamed his parents a little, but they still don't like the idea of him being gone for so long. The children however were sad that they won't see them for a whole year.
“Hey, wipe those sad faces off. Think about it, when we get back I'll have loads of things to tell you squirts!” Kisame exclaimed trying to cheer up the kids, and it worked. So after discussing that little detail they had dinner later, which was a bowl of rice, some chicken, and some rice balls. It was getting late, so they said their good-byes, and headed off to HQ.
“By the way, Kisame,”
“Hm?”
“Why do you tell those kids about our missions?” Itachi asked.
“It's to prepare them for when they graduate from the academy. It's to let them know that when you go higher in rank, the tougher missions you'll get,” Kisame said.
“Smart thinking,”
Kisame looks up into the trees. (They're walking to HQ, ok) “Hey Itachi, I think you have one more person to tell about our long trip,”
“What?” Itachi looks up to, and sees a woman standing on the branches.
“Hey, how've you boys been?” she asked.
“Oh we've been doing just fine,” Kisame answered. “How've you been, Anko?”
Anko jumped down from the branch to in front of them. “Eh, can't complain. So, what's this about a long trip?”
“We have another mission, Anko,” Itachi said. “And by long trip, we only mean that we're going to be gone for a whole year.”
“Why that long?” Anko asked.
“We don't know. That's just what the letter said,” Itachi said.
“Well then, I'll be right here waiting for you,” She said. They pull each other into a hug, and they kiss. Their lips parted and they were silent. Almost as if one of them was waiting for someone to say something.
“Well…I uh, think we should be going now. I'll see you when we get back,” Itachi said. He then starts walking off.
“Oh you've got to be kidding me,” Kisame said. “Hey, don't worry about a thing. He'll write to you and tell you how the mission's progressing,” Kisame said. Then he walks off after Itachi. Kisame finally caught up with him.
“Why didn't you say anything?” he asked.
“What are you talking about?” Itachi asked.
“You two have been dating for three years. How come you haven't proposed to her yet!?”
“Now just wasn't the best time,” Itachi said.
“You've got to be kidding me! You could have done it before we left to beat the shit out of Momoshiro!!” Kisame thought to himself.
