Harry Potter - Series Fan Fiction ❯ Altered Destiny ❯ Meet the Triplets ( Prologue )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Summary
This was an idea my friend and I had started a few years ago. We originally planned on `re-writing' all Seven Harry Potter books, the way we wanted them to be. We decided to be lazy and skip to the fourth year. Any who on with the summary.
Mitchell, Sondra, and Brittany were triplets who had a secret that none of them knew to the full extent. They were considered `special' but no one explained that to them fully. People avoid them out of fear. People fear what they do not understand.
Due to the fact that they were related to the Minister of Magic, They were given permission to interfere with many things if they were able to prove that their interference was beneficial. They interfered with two lives, that of Harry Potter, and Draco Malfoy. Harry was mistreated and unaware of his potential so they took him under their wing. Draco had the potential to be the next Dark Lord. That was an obvious reason to interfere.
So because of their interference many things were changing. They were altering destiny one year at a time. Join them as they continue on their unknown quest to change it all.
Author's Note
AN: Here is the story that my friend and I are working on. I had it posted originally as Changing Things Book One, and we were going to go through each book, but we decided to be lazy and start at book four. This is a kind of boring chapter, mostly written by Sondra to give you an idea about what is going on. She's good at dealing with the boring stuff while I like to be fun and crazy. I have no patience for it. I did try to spice it up a bit.
The Next chapter will be more interesting I promise! Just so you know there are flaws to our characters so they are not Mary Sues, just wait until school. Sondra may seem like the most Mary Sueish though. It was Sondra's idea not mine.

Prologue: Meet the Triplets
(WARNING: This will be a somewhat boring character build up prologue to inform you of what the heck is going on. Chapter one will be up within 24 hours, and it will be much more fun.)
Mitchell Fox, and his siblings, Brittany, and Sondra, were all born on October 31st. They were abandoned triplets found by their adoptive mother. No one really tried to find out who their parents were, it seemed unimportant. Their adoptive mother was Catharine Fudge, the Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge's, youngest sister. Catharine was placed into an arranged marriage with Michael Fox, a half-blood wizard. They worked for their money and spent free time at a London Orphanage.
Catharine was a beautiful woman with fair blond hair and emerald eye. While Michael was tall dark and handsome with Smokey grey eyes. They had a daughter together and they named her Anysia, Anna for short. Catherine often spent her time at the Nursery in the London Orphanage, where, when old enough, Anna joined her.
One day, three infant triplets arrived at the Orphanage. They were quickly moved inside, due to it being winter. They lay side by side, wrapped lovingly in expensive thick wool blankets. Each was a blazing jewel tone colored, seemingly specifically picked out for each child. The one in the ruby red shifted hitting the middle girl in white. Catherine watched, Anna on her hip, as the girl turned her head towards the third, a boy it seemed, and whimpered.
The boy's eyes opened an angry sky blue; the first began to rise out of their crib a shriek rent throughout the air. Catherine quickly wrapped her spare arm around the child.
“It's going to be alright honey.” Catharine cooed to the shrieking child. “Momma's here.” As she looked into the child's dark blue eyes.
Her gaze caught her husband's, and sent him a silent request. Michael nodded, having understood her silent plea, and left the room once more. Catharine turned back towards the triplets after her husband had closed the door to the Nursery. She placed the girl back into the crib. She checked to make sure each child was wrapped tightly. She noticed black embroidery on the corner, said Sonda. The other female's blanket in jade embroidery spelled Brittany. The male had sapphire colored embroidery which spelled put Mitchell.
Mitchell's head rolled to rest on Brittany's shoulder. Sondra's small fingers wrapped around Brittany's blanket. Catherine showed Anna the triplets. “Look Anna. Their going to be your new siblings.”
§Two Years Later§
The fear of the Dark Lord was running at an all time high. Despite, Catherine and Michael both being in the Order of the Phoenix and wanted by Voldemort's followers, they were happy. Michael and the children were playing in the summer. Mitchell had shoulder length chestnut hair and sky blue eyes. He was playing with the white blonde haired, silver grey eyed Anna. Brittany with dark brown and dark chocolate eyes with flecks of gold. Brittany was off in her own innocent little world, picking flowers
Determined dark blue eyes were seen hiding amongst the leaves, about fifty feet away. Sondra climbed high in a tree, just because she felt like it. Michael sat on a bench watching his children play happily. A scar marred his faced reaching from underneath a patch over his eye to jaw. Suddenly Sondra was running towards the others.
Reaching Anna and Mitchell she spoke with them quickly. Anna ran to an old dead tree, there was a small hole at the base of it, which she crawled through. The hole was actually a tunnel leading to an underground chamber filled with supplies in case the need to hide ever occurred. Mitchell ran over to Brittany.
“Bad, Bad.” He whispered as he grabbed her hand and drug her over to the hole at the base of the tree. Both crawled inside.
Sondra turned to Michael. “Daddy, daddy, come.” She cried out frantically, pointing to the tree. “Hide.”
Michael smiled at the child and shook his head. “Now why do you want me to hide?”
“Bad, bad man. Comeng. Hide.” Tugging on his fingers.
“No, no. No bad men coming.” Michael said trying to reassure her.
Sondra looked at him with a mixture of panic and resignation on her face. She grabbed a plastic shovel from the sandbox, and gave Michael a pleading look. She then ran off to the safety of the tree. The wind picked up and the clouds settled over the sky. Sondra crawled into the hole, she caught a glimpse of the face of her father's killer.
§Five Hours Later§
“Come on out children. It's alright, mommy's here now.” Catherine's soothing voice called out to her four frightened children.
Sondra, Mitchell, Brittany, and Anna all ran out of the hole at the base of the tee. “MOMMY!” Brittany called out and crashed into her mother's legs. “Sondra mean!” She pouted cutely.
Catherine smiled at the small girl and picked her up. “What did Sondra do?” She asked kindly.
“Sondra quiet!” Brittany huffed.
“Ah!” Catherine understood. “Sondra made you stay quiet baby?” She asked. Brittany nodded her head. Catherine looked to Sondra, only to see her sporting quite the shiner. “Oh my goodness! Sondra? Who hit you?!” She gasped.
Sondra glared and pointed at Mitchell. Mitchell glared back at Sondra.
“Why did you hit your sister?” Catherine asked her only son seriously.
“Sondra mean Brittany.” He growled out angrily.
“So you hit your sister?” Catherine sighed.
“Yup! Mitchell nice Brittany.” He stated quite proud of himself.
“Mitchell, violence does not solve your problems.” Catherine sighed.
“Me know. Hit Sondra, not violin Sondra!” Mitchell smiled brightly.
Catherine just gave up that talk for the time being. Anna looked around and asked. “Where daddy at?”
Catherine's face went from somewhat happy to depressed immediately. The four children noticed something was wrong. “Mommy okay?” They all asked concerned.
“Mommy will be fine. Daddy is gone sweeties.” Catherine smiled.
“Where?” Mitchell asked.
“Far away.” Catherine replied.
“When back?” Brittany pressed on.
“Daddy's not coming back sweetheart.” Catherine tried to explain while holding back tears.
“Why?” Anna asked.
“Daddy's gone to live in heaven with god.” Catherine replied still holding back her tears.
“Why?” Asked Brittany.
“Because bad men wanted to hurt us all, and they got daddy.” Catherine responded.
“Why?” Anna and Brittany asked together.
“I'll tell you all later.” Catherine smiled.
Brittany pushed at her mother. “Down.” She demanded. Once on the ground Brittany turned to face the mansion. “HOME GONE!” Brittany screamed.
The remaining three children turned to face what was left of their home. Sondra had an understanding look upon her face. Mitchell and Anna's were matching looks of horror. What was once a beautiful mansion was now nothing more than ash and smoke. Everything they had ever known was obliterated. They three oldest had no idea what was going on, but Sondra, the youngest, seemed to have a grasp on it.
Catherine morning the loss of her husband, shortened her name to Cathy and moved to America. They settled into a small, all Muggle town, far cut off from the rest of the world. They stayed with an elderly `Muggle' woman. She claimed she was wise in the ways of the world. This woman helped Cathy adjust to being a Muggle, and the children came to call her Grandma. Grandma had a son who lived not far from the them. He and Cathy fell in love eventually and were married. Over two years had passed without word from the Wizarding World.
§Two and a Half Years Later.§
They had moved to a small to a suburban area, where they attended a Muggle Preschool. They were eating breakfast in the dinning room. Out of the fire place came, one right after another, three red headed children. The oldest was around ten, the youngest was six. Anna and Brittany both yelled joyously. “Santa, Santa!”
The smoke cleared, as did Brittany and Anna's happy smiles. There was no Santa, but lots of red heads in their house. Then a plump red haired woman, holding a screaming baby, and a grumpy red haired toddler, appeared next to the children. She was followed by three more red heads. A man and holding the hands of four year old twin boys.
Brittany approached the scowling boy at the same time that Cathy went to embrace both the red haired mother and red haired father. Arthur! Molly! How nice to see you again!” She cried.
Brittany smiled at the boy. “Hi. My name's Brittany, what's yours?”
The boy smiled in return. “I Ron.”
“Wanna be my friend?” Brittany asked shyly.
“Kay.” Ron smiled. Brittany left the room, dragging Ron with her. Going on about showing him her toys. Mitchell followed the two grumbling the entire time. Now he was going to have to share his favorite sister. Personally he did not get along with Sondra very well.
Cathy was encouraging the other children out of the room to play with the others. Anna led others, twirling exuberantly out of the room. Sondra did not follow, she was more interested in the adults, instead of the crazy children.
“So I see the Weasley clan has grown. I know…” Cathy began, but she was interrupted.
“Mom, why's Scott taking a nap?” Sondra asked concerned.
Needless to say, there was some serious explaining to do. Scott was more shocked that she had kept quiet about what she was, then he was disbelieving at what he had witnessed. He also could not believe that all the stories his mother had told him were true, were actually true.
The Weasley's told them that He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, was defeated, somehow, by the Potter's boy. But at the price of his parents. Cathy and Scott opted to stay in America, until the triplet's were going to start in a Wizarding School. Anna, the triplets, and the Weasley brood, became fast friends.
Over the years, Brittany not only gained the attentions, of Fred, George, and Ron Weasley, but Mitchell's as well. Yes the actions of an overly protective brother were replaced by that of a jealous suitor. You could find him defending her from boys and girls alike, no matter their intentions. Brittany ended up with very few friends due to her brother's strange attraction. As is only her way, Brittany was completely oblivious of their intentions.
Anna could often be found with trees and other greenery, often having full on conversations with them. One sided as they may be that is.
Sondra was often asking questions like, `where did you find us?' Or, `Why do we make weird noises all the time, like hissing?' She was often found in the study searching for something on the internet, and the World Wizarding Network.
When they were nine, Sondra was often disappearing for hours on end. Brittany was still innocent, spacey, and easily upset as ever. Mitchell still adored Brittany, disregarded rules, and pretty much failed school, due to his lazy nature. Anna could, more often then not, be found outside. Scott was still in love with Cathy, and she with him. He had landed a new job as the top Accountant for the American Branch of Grunnings. Cathy came to be the head of the American Magic Association. She answered only to the Minister of Magic.
§A Year Later§
The triplets were spending the week with the Weasley's as their parents were looking for schools
for Anna. Charlie and Bill were also staying, and they both adored Brittany like she was their own sister. One day Mitchell had decided to play a particularly cruel trick on Brittany, because he had not pulled one for a long time. He did to show his affection for his sister.
He cut her hair and then dyed it neon blue, neon purple, neon green, and neon orange. Needless to say Brittany was devastated; she loved her long hair and rarely allowed anyone to cut it. Sondra was furious, but secretly admitted to Fred and George that she would have loved to try that prank out herself.
Brittany screeched so loud she woke up the entire house the next morning. Everyone except Mrs. Weasley, she was already awake, awoke to her screams. Everyone rushed into her room, but Mitchell stayed behind having already seen the damage done because he had caused it. Brittany was bawling her eyes out on the bed and was clutching a chunk of hair that Mitchell left normal to taunt her.
Everyone was shocked when she hissed at everyone when they tried to get near her; this was the only time she truly lost control over her anger, and was unable to regain it. She has a really wicked temper, and when she loses it she goes ballistic. Bill and Charlie both knew that it was her brother that did this, because they saw him walking out of his room that night, but shook it off as going to the bathroom at the time.
When they told Fred and George the four went straight to work on getting revenge. After two days they had created a potion to make sure Mitchell would know never to go that far in a prank again. Mrs. Weasley had found a spell and fixed up Brittany's hair the day before the potion was finished, but she still refused to talk to anyone, and rarely acknowledged anyone's presence.
At Breakfast that morning Charlie put the odorless, tasteless, colorless concoction into Mitchell's glass of Milk. When Mitchell came downstairs and took his first sip he began to feel weird. After he had finished his breakfast fifteen minutes later Brittany began to burst out laughing. Mitchell had sprouted pink wings, his hair was long and pink, he was in a frilly pink fairy costume, and he had a tiara on his head.
“Ha, It's the fairy princess come to play Quidditch with us.” Brittany roared with laughter.
Mitchell was stuck like that for three days because no one could find a way to reverse it, and Fred, George, Charlie, and Bill all refused to tell then how they made it or the antidote, which they gave to Brittany to use on Mitchell when she felt he had suffered enough. To this day Mitchell refuses to allow Brittany to wear any sort of clothing with a fairy on it, read any fairy books, look at pictures of fairies, and most of all dress up like a fairy. He feared them like the plague
§The Next Summer§
Brittany and Ron had become good friends, but mainly because she was pushy and he liked her. Ginny often played with Anna, until Anna became too strange. Fred, George, and Mitchell played a lot of Quidditch. Sondra was getting scary, teenager into bad stuff scary, and really moody. One day, Brittany and Mitchell were playing tag with Mitchell and the twins. Mitchell was it, and everyone was hiding.
Fred and George decided to have a little more fun. They took a string, and stretched in between two trees. As Mitchell was chasing Brittany towards the two trees, they tightened the string tripping her. They were much the same as Mitchell, tormenting the poor girl to show their interest in her.
Mitchell being who he is, was not happy, that being the understatement of the year. He chased the twins down, his eyes glowing deep red. Ron and Brittany decided to head inside, as they heard the screams of fright.
A dark chuckle escaped the boy as the twins ran. He gave chase, cutting off their escapes easily. Mrs. Weasley could be heard struggling to get out of the house. Mitchell growled in triumph, as he cornered against the garden wall. The twins look of sheer terror made shiver run down his spine.
“P-please Mitchell. We're sorry.” Fred cried out. Mind you he was only nine.
“We never meant to hurt her.” Sobbed George, even though Brittany was more startled than anything.
“And you'll never touch her again.” He snarled as his hand swung foreword to strike. But he stopped inches from Georges throat. There was a moment where he did no move, then another hiss, more feminine this time. Mitchell flew into a tree. The figure of Sondra was the last they saw before they passed out.
Mrs. Weasley, Ron, and, Brittany watched as the ground rumbled, and a tree in the distance, fell. The other Weasley's, Anna, Scott, and Cathy had just entered the house. They had been looking for Sondra. Mrs. Weasley was hysterical wailing about her boys being dead. When Sondra entered the house, and unconscious Fred over her shoulder, she was followed by a woman with sea-foam green hair. She carried a badly beaten Mitchell, and an unscathed George.
Before anyone could react, a sound somewhere between a purr and a growl rolled through the room. If asked the Weasley's would not recall the incident and the Fox/Gilmore family will not speak of it. The triplets were found to be of unusual birth, thus sent to Jonathan Academy. They will spend the next three years learning to control their abilities.
Since, then the twins were devoted to Sondra, much to her distaste, and very wary Mitchell. There is no doubt that though they did not remember it there souls did. That fall, Anna started at Beauxbatons Academy.
Sondra whose attitude had worsened over the following two years was sent to live with her `Grandma' for a year. Thus to this day if someone asks how their grandma is, their reaction is always the same.
“Grandmas and there evil yard sticks,” they would groan, rubbing there heads.
When they finally started at a Wizarding school, they moved back to their new mansion. The yard on the outside was a small patch of well manicured lawn. It was really however a large rose garden, with marble stepping stone leading to the house. The house itself appeared to be a single story, two bedroom, cabin. Inside was a large manor fit for a royal family. The back yard looked a grassless lot, though truly, it was a two acre country garden. Oh the wonders of wizarding charms and spells.
In June, before they had started at Hogwarts, the triplets spent the day at the London Zoo. They were thirteen This was the same day that Harry Potter was visiting that very same zoo, with his aunt, uncle, cousin, and his best friend. Sondra had joined her siblings for reasons other than to see the animals. She was there to `kidnap' Harry. Sure enough when Harry set the python on his cousin, Sondra ran off with Harry in tow.
That night Harry met the Weaselys, Dumbledore, and the Minister of Magic. He found the wizarding community felt like home. Ron and Harry became friends easily. When the triplets and Harry went to Diagon Alley for there school things Ron joined them. Their inheritance from Michael, helped to finance spoiling Ron and the other Weasley's.
In Diagon Alley, they ran into Lucius Malfoy and his youngest son Draco. The previous night Brittany had received permission to take Draco from his ill-suited home. This was much to the displeasure of Lucius and his older brother, Steve. Brittany spent the entire summer teaching Draco how to be a decent human being. While Draco lived with the triplets and Harry he too fell prey to Brittany's charming innocence. Of course this was also unbeknownst to her.
For Harry's birthday Anna came over with Oliver Wood, her fiancé. Sondra forced the Dursley's to attend with expensive gifts. Harry considered it his best birthday yet. Thought Draco was not quite Gryffindor material yet, the well placed threats of both Brittany and Mitchell the Sorting hat placed him there with them.
Brittany had even had a run in with Draco's ill-mannered brother while buying a rare and expensive gift for her friend. She and Steve had hated each other on sight and were constantly shooting death glares at the other.
Mitchell at school had decided to take the hapless Neville under his wing. He helped Neville work around his fear of Snape and was doing decently. Sondra was being dogged by not only the twins but Professor Trelawney, who deemed to venture down to the hustle and bustle of the school to confront her.
Brittany was forced to deal with her fear of heights, through flying lessons with Cedric Diggory. Her fear arrived when Mitchell knocked her off her broom with a Bludger. She fell a good sixty feet to the ground. Luckily she was not that injured, just really scared of heights.
As with any high stress situation feeling were developed she and Cedric. They would date until the end of third year. Mitchell did not like that situation at all. After a year of trying to kill Cedric, he switched ton trying to make Brittany jealous. He began dating Hermione, though that was short lived.
During that year Hagrid was teaching about Hippogriffs and about being respectful to them. Unfortunately Draco was in a pissy mood, due to catching Brittany and Cedric share a little kiss in the hall. So he had missed the entire lecture, sue to his not paying attention. Still annoyed over everything, he insulted Buckbeak the Hippogriff, and Buckbeak attacked. Sondra managed to jump in and push him out of the way just in time. She was injured badly, but had shrugged it off as not a big deal. She had recovered fully within a week
Later on in the week Steve made the exact same mistake and was attacked, no one being there to save him from his stupidity. He owled his father and complained. All the while he was doing quite a poor job at pretending to be in pain for the Parkinson sisters. Kaelyn and Pansy Parkinson were the most annoying pair of fan-girl sisters. Kaelyn was a year older than Pansy but had ended up receiving her acceptance letter a year late, due to her magical powers being so weak when she turned eleven.
Pansy and Kaelyn took an immediate dislike to Brittany in their first year. Brittany and Sondra's friend, Katie took an even bigger dislike in them. Brittany was also quite cruel towards them when the time called for it. Sondra was just cruel because she felt like it. Mitchell was not a fan of the two girls either, because they always tried to mess with his sister. Draco figured them ugly superficial witches, and Harry and Ron agreed.
The night that Harry and Hermione went back in time to save Sirius and Buckbeak, they saw Brittany. She had been missing most of the night for some reason. The two watched in anger as Scabbers, Peter Pettigrew, ran off into the forest. What surprised them was seeing Brittany jump out of a tree and give chase to the evil rat. After a moment of shock the two were cheering her on silently. As fate would have it, Brittany managed to trip just as she was about to grab a hold of the traitorous rodent. Her clumsy nature never failed to screw her up.
At Breakfast the following morning she was seething. When asked what was wrong she simply responded by stating. “Ron's damn rat got away!”
“Why were you chasing him?” Harry asked her seriously.
Brittany paused for just a moment. She took a deep breath. Being witty sometimes came in handy. “That little shit stole my last cookie!” She responded no one was sure if she was lying or not. But they let the subject go due to her angered expressions.
During that summer Sondra had been disappearing more than usual. It was quite normal for her to disappear for no reason, but not as much as she had been doing. Brittany was stuck trying to shake off her brother for the summer. Mitchell was busy trying to shower his sister with affection. This in turn annoyed her to high hell.
Harry had been spending time at his Aunt and Uncle's for a month every summer since he had moved in with the triplets. Draco had been off visiting his own family, much to everyone's distaste, except Narcissa. She still adored her son like none other.
Brittany had even slipped away for a week to visit her friend in America. Amber was a close friend who managed to get Mitchell to back off when they were kids. Amber had to go see a sick relative before the week was up though. So Brittany went over to see Harry, who was begging for her to help him get Dudley to back off. The two had been owling all summer long, though no one else knew.
Brittany had gone over and pretended to be Harry's loving girlfriend for a few days. She was polite and kind, but whenever Petunia or Vernon were not looking she would use her dirtiest looks on Dudley. By the time she had left, Dudley was thoroughly freaked out. Once she had arrived back home, Mitchell was once more in her face annoying the crap out of her. So when the time had arrived to go over to the Weasley's before the Quidditch World Cup, she was quite relieved.
Preview of the Next Chapter
The older two of the bunch travel over to the Weasley's. After a while they converse and learn things that had been happening all summer. Once more the competition for Brittany's attention again. The poor girl has no idea of course, and her oblivious nature will be the end of her. Sondra is still missing, not surprising for anyone.
Author's Note
Alright I know this was really boring, but as most of you all know me, I will make this story turn around! Sondra will seem Mary Sueish, Mitchell will seem like an incestuous prick, and Brittany will seem very ignorant. The thing with her is that she is smart, she is just too innocent to see whatis going on right in front of her face. So do not hate them yet. Also check out The Gryffindor Misfitif you have not already read it. It starts a little slow, but then it picks up. Also Wanting Something More is my newest story. Check that out too. Have a good time until the next update.
