Vanora's dark hazel eyes skimmed over the dimly lit room, searching for a friendly face, any friendly face. She would even had been glad to see Neville Longbottom her yearn for someone she knows went so deep. But it wasn't Longbottom that entered Professor's Snape's classroom that afternoon, it was the Weasley twins. Notorious for their rather relenting practical jokes and antics, it was normal that everyone in the class, Gryffindor or not, would stare at the twins as they strutted by, and whisper behind their grubby little hands about how much of a bother they were. Vanora didn't think so. Smiling at the more then likely planned entrance into the classroom, she waved them over enthusiastically and hinting heavily at the two seats on either side of her. Both empty and both being eyed by Malfoy's two stupid sidekicks, Crabbe and Goyle.
"Oy! Vanora! We've missed you so!" Fred exclaimed very loudly, catching the attention of half the Gryffindor and Syltherin's.
"Vanora! My dear!" George yelled, leaping forward a bit dramatically to place his hands on top of hers. "How could you not have owled us? We've been worried sick about you!" George smiled, waiting for Vanora to reply in some shape or fashion.
"Fred, George, you guys are huge dorks, but I thank you for saving my pitiful ass. Even though you guys completely planned to make jackass's of yourselves the moment you came in here..." Vanora smirked.
"You see right through us m' dear...” Fred whispered in Vanora's ear.
"Just don't let on to the class you knew that. Play along for friend's sake Van, it would quite spoil the joke we put so much thought into..." George said right after his brother, looking around to make sure he wasn't being overheard. Unfortunate it for him, he was.
"George! If you put half as much thought in your school work as you did for you petty pranks, you'd be at the top of your year!"
Vanora, Fred and George all groaned audibly. "Hermione" They all mumbled at once. Fred swung himself around and pointed at Hermione.
"You, need to keep your pointy little nose out of other's business..." Fred snapped.
"If you spent half as much time studying as you did snooping in other people's "petty" business, you would be at the top of this school!" George smoothly replied back, not skipping a beat. And with that, both sat down on either sit of a very amused and red in face Vanora, who had to suck in her breathe to keep from laughing so hard she wet herself. Looking at Fred, Vanora whispered,
"A bit harsh don't you think?"
George answered, " Van, were you not holding in a laugh yourself?" Vanora bit her top lip.
"Ok, I confess, I did. You guys are the greatest..." Vanora replied slinging her arms around both their shoulders, as did they to her shoulders.
Vanora and the twins. Almost inseparable since Vanora transferred to Hogwarts from a small American Witchcraft school in Connecticut. Her sixth, their seventh, they had been like 3 peas in a pod. Vanora had immediately been cast into Gryffindor, despite her unusual back round and parentage. Mother was an American witch, raising Vanora on her own since birth. Her own father left before she was even born. All she knew was his first name. Her real last name was 'Snape', but upon transferring to Hogwarts, her mother had given her a new last name to start with. Dumbledore approved. Vanora Van Wyek. She had met the twins one day in the commons area of their dorm, and had henceforth become the prankster trio. Of course, she was friends with the famous Harry Potter, and his trio members, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasely. But she just didn't seem to fit with them. Not that she didn't enjoy Harry and Ron's company. She did, it's just she didn't much appreciate Hermione and her 'I-Know-It-All' attitude. To be quite blunt, it sometimes made her sick. So she vented her amusement that anyone could be so studious and strict, and not be an adult but joining in the twins at making fun of her. Lately, the fuel to the fire has been the fact that she was not the top student at the school. Recently Cho Chang had made that title in her last couple exams. Hermione, who secretly can't stand not being the smartest, was extremely pissed, and upset at the fact. A fact the twins and Vanora made great fun of.
As the rest of the class piled in through the small stone arched doorway into the dark classroom, Fred whispered to Vanora,
“What should we do this class? Sleep?”
“Pranks? Throw spitballs at Malfoy's pretty boy bleached hair again?” George interjected. Vanora thought a moment, and then her eyes lit up, as the twins learned always happened when she was thinking of something extremely awesome to do.
“We should bother Hermione. Or maybe plot on the various other things we can do in the castle today. What do you guys say?” Vanora stopped hesitantly, looking at Fred and George both for opinion. Fred and George thoughtfully put their finger and thumb to their chins in a mock gesture of actually thinking of something rather important.
"I think you're on to something..." Fred said knowingly wagging his finger at her.
"Yes, Yes, I do indeed...but who is the victim this time?" George asked as his eyes sparkled at the many possibilities of pranks he could pull off.
"I've got one word for you pertaining to that..." Vanora replied, broad grin across her face.
"Well out with it!" George whispered excitedly.
"Malfoy"
The Weasley twins smiled from ear to ear upon hearing Vanora's pick.
"I suppose we must get started then." Fred interjected winking at his brother and Vanora. With that all three turned forward in their seats and pretended to pay attention. Writing notes, and opening their books, staring at the board in a mock gesture of paying the professor what the other students didn't know, is that they were writing plots, plans, and thinking of the different ways to go about them while staring blindly at their books and their professor.
They were just getting started.
