Harry Potter - Series Fan Fiction ❯ Breakfast ❯ Breakfast ( Chapter 1 )
[ A - All Readers ]
It all started when Harry Potter fixed a cup of tea- two sugars and a dab of milk- and slid it towards Snape's elbow. Who then picked it up without looking away from his Daily Prophet and calmly took a sip, humming in appriciation as he set it back down. Harry went on eating his bangers and hash looking for all the world like he'd not just tempted the wrath of Hogwart's illustrious Potions Master. The few people who noticed, all of which were sat closest to the two oblivious teachers, stared silently wondering wheather the world was about to come to a abrupt end.
It was Snape who noticed first, he glanced up at the lessening of noise around him to find his colleages darting surreptitious glances at him, his brows furrowed in thought before his gaze settled on the cup of tea he'd just drank from. He frowned and turned is head to glare and the younger man beside him.
"Potter." The black eyes peirced into the Griffyndors profile, his voice just above a whisper to carry to the ears half hiden by messy black hair.
"Hmm." Green eyes raised to Snape's still in a half-aware state, blinking slowly and tilting his head as if to ask, 'Yeah, what is it?'
Snape lead Harry's attention down to the cup and saucer before looking back at the other man. Harry's eyes moved from that black gaze to the cup and back again, one eyebrow raised in question and a slightly confused look on his face. Snape's lips barely twitched into an smirk as he leaned toward Harry.
"We're in the Great Hall, you twit." He leaned back taking in the green eyes, wide and definatly more awake, with two spots of pink lightly tinting his cheek.
"Oh." Harry said, the word full of surprise and no small amount of embarrassment. He glance around the table noting everyone was very distinctly NOT looking at them.
Snape snortned and went back to the paper. Harry sat for a moment more staring at the man before turning to contempate his own breakfast, picking at it with his fork. He shruggedand asked, "Toast?", to no one in particular, Snape nodded. Harry buttered and jellied a few peices and set the plate between them. The Defence teacher went back to his hash while Snape bit into the sweetened bread with a crunch and set it back on the plate. A moment later Harry picked up the same slice and took twice the size bite Snape had putting it back on the plate with two sets of teethmarks, one over laping the other.
Whispers were speading down the headtable. "Once again you manage to make a spectacle out of everything you do."
Harry just grinned at him and took a sip of pumpkin juice. "You know how we celebraties are."
Snape grunted in agreement and the remainder of breakfast between the two was silent. The rest of the staff contemplated that Hell had froze over without them knowing it.
