DANCING WITH THE ENEMY
Chapter Two: Class, Teacher...Dancing
October 4th
The next morning at breakfast, Dumbeldore stood up and made the announcement.
'Today, and everyday from now until the graduation ball at the end of the school year, seventh years will be taking dancing lessons. However, it will not just be like the dancing that you did at the Yule Ball three years ago. This dancing will be a mix of both Muggle and Wizard. And the teacher of this class...will be your Head Girl, Miss Hermione Granger.'
The Gryffindors all cheered, along with the Hufflpuffs and Ravenclaws, but Slytherin were muttering under their breaths.
'Miss Granger?' asked Dumbeldore, motioning for her to come up to the front. Hermione made her way up to Dumbeldore and faced her classmates. She took out her wand and waved it. Duffle bags filled with clothes now sat in front of each seventh year.
'In front of you, is a bag of clothes. Inside, is what you will bring to my classes. I have arranged for classes to be from nine o'clock until midnight, give seventh years three extra hours sleep in the morning. Curfew is twelve thirty. If one seventh year doe not turn up to these classes, they will be punished. Also, if you do not remember your bag, you will receive detention and loose house points. This is very important, and things will go accordingly.'
Hermione made her way back down to her table, Ginny and Lavender watching her with wide eyes.
'Hermione' said lavender, 'when did you get to domineering?'
'When Dumbeldore gave me this class. Will you enjoy it Lav?'
'Of course, it'll be fun!'
'Oh I wish I could join in,' said Ginny, 'but I'm only in my sixth year.'
'I'll talk to Dumbeldore,' said Hermione, 'if you want to dance with Harry...you will.'
That night, Hermione stood in her Head Girl room. She looked at the mirror, at herself. She wore a white dress tight across the bust and stomach and flowy at the skirt. She wore high heel white shoes and her hair was wrapped up in a bun. Looking at the clock, she saw it read five to nine. She had better get downstairs before her class started.
Hermione picked up the DVDs that she had in her room, along with her wand and training books and made her way downstairs. She stood in front of the Great Hall doors and took a deep breath. Her class was in there and she was about to teach them. She let the breath out and opened the doors. Every seventh year had turned up and was wearing what was in his or her bag. The girls wore similar dresses to Hermione, many had different colours and the boys wore black dress pants and white button up shirts. Hermione saw Ginny standing with Harry, and Ron with Lavender. She smiled to her friends as she made her way to the very front. The girls were all looking at Hermione strangely.
What are they looking at? She wondered. Hermione's eyes fell on the Slytherin's. Draco Malfoy, stood tall and proud in his outfit, which Hermione had to say, looked pretty good on him. Attached to his arm was Pansy Parkinson. She wore a green dress and Hermione could see she had tried to alter it. Hermione took her wand out and pointed it at Pansy's dress. The alterations were gone.
'Hey!' she shouted. Hermione finally reached the front of the group.
'Okay everyone! If we want to get out of here by midnight, can I have some quiet please?'
'Yeah right, like I'll listen to a Mudblood.' Hermione sighed.
Hermione shrugged off the comment and turned to the CD player that McGonagall had let her get. Loud salsa music rang throughout the Great hall.
'Okay...straight lines please.' The students managed to get into four straight lines, Hufflpuffs in front, Gryffindor behind them, Ravenclaw third, and Slytherin last.
'Okay...in time with the music...take four steps to the left, turn, then take four to the right...it's a simple warm up. I'll walk around and check on you all, but I will be timing your steps. Okay...start!'
'One, Two, and Three Four...' Hermione called out, timing the student’s steps. The Hufflpuffs were a little confused but finally managed to get it right. Gryffindor and Ravenclaw were doing fine and when Hermione walked down the Slytherin line, she saw the girls trying to fall in the boys arms. Draco Malfoy was standing, arms crossed over his chest, against the far wall. Hermione sighed. 'One, Two, Three, Four. Listen to the music.'
As the students continued to take the four steps backwards and forwards, Hermione made her way over to Malfoy.
'Think you're too good for the class Malfoy?' she asked, stopping in front of him.
'I'm too good a dancer for you.'
'Really? Wanna prove it?'
'Will it get me out of this class?'
'Look, Dumbeldore wants me to teach this type of dancing, and he needs me to get a partner for the end of year graduation ball dance. If you show me you're the best dancer, in a dance with me, then you can skip all these classes, -skip as in not participate, not attend, I still want to see you here- and I'll let Dumbeldore know.'
'And all I have to do is dance with you at Graduation?'
'You know were are the lead dancers at each dance this year, Halloween, Christmas, Valentines and Graduation. Come on; show me what you've got.'
'Okay...but change this music, make them stop and watch as I dance circles around you.' Hermione smiled and made her way up in front of the class. She stopped the music and they all groaned in satisfaction.
'Okay everyone...Malfoy here...thinks he is the best dancer. Well, we are going to see. We are going to dance together...and if I see that he is a better dancer than most, he will be able to skip these dance practices. However, if he doesn’t' prove to be the best...he will dance at each function...with EVERY SINGLE GIRL IN SEVENTH YEAR.'
Draco cringed. It was bad enough that he had to dance with the Mudblood, but dance with EVERY SINGLE GIRL IN SEVENTH YEAR? No way. He was gong to beat her. He took his wand out and pointed it at Hermione's dress. Her white dress was now a light pink strapless one, with silver high heels. He pointed his wand at himself and his clothes changed to a black shirt with black bottoms. He flicked his wand again and slow music began to play...
Hey guys, did you like it? That’s just the beginning. Do you like how I have written this so far? I hope you guys do. I'll update soon. Oh, and the next chapter will have dancing from "Dirty Dancing" in it. Yay! And major draco/Hermione moments too!
