A Short Little Harry Potter One-Shot:
Dreams Really Do Come True, Literally
“Well, damn!” Exclaimed and exasperated Brittany. The Golden Trio along with the three triplets had happened upon the most bizarre sight of their lives. None could believe their eyes, and for good reason as well.
Draco Malfoy was sitting in a corner cowering from his father, who currently had a wand pointed directly at his neck. Now Brittany of course was the only one able to speak because she was, as she decided, cursed with the fact that the damn Slytherin Prince was constantly on her mind. As any good witch knew, an attraction to an equally dark wizard did not bode well for anyone. Therefore she kept the agonizingly painful truth hidden and tormented him as much as she could to try and rid her self of her `affliction.'
Seeing Draco in such a vulnerable position had of course taken its toll upon her mind. She had never imagined that Lucious Malfoy was such a cruel father, and because of this obviously threatening scene she reacted most violently.
Hermione, in all her brilliant glory, realized that their dear friend was infatuated with the Slytherin Prince, and Brittany did everything, short of killing him, to make it leave. Unfortunately Hermione had been tricked into revealing Brittany's secret to Ron and Harry because they were so good at annoying her when they wanted answers. They were so determined to find out why one of their best friends was acting so oddly, they pressured Hermione until she caved into the inevitable.
She of course was not the only one who noticed, Mitchell and Sondra both realized that their sister was afflicted by one of cupid's arrows of love. Sondra of course sympathized with her elder sister, but Mitchell was another story. He, being the eldest, was entrusted with their safety. So another male who was powerful enough to protect his younger sister enraged him beyond all belief. It was unthinkable that Draco Malfoy could ever love and want protect his sister, and therefore was the only reason Mitchell had not tried to hex him into oblivion.
The fact of the matter was, Draco was being threatened; everyone knew that Brittany would probably crack and give into the infatuation with their biggest rival. There was naught that anyone could do once Brittany set her mind on something. It was only seconds after happening upon the two, in an empty classroom at Hogwarts, that she did just that.
Before anyone had the chance to blink, Brittany had whipped out her wand and muttered a spell which sent the room into a veritable void of nothingness. The inky blackness of the spell spread like wildfire, but not before Brittany made it across the room to Lucious and Draco. With power very few possessed Brittany shot a curse at the cruel man who called himself a father, and effectively knocked him to the ground and out in addition.
Draco almost gasped when his father was wrenched from him in such a manner and felt gratitude towards the person. The only thing stopping him from saying thanks to his savior was the Golden Trio which he heard. Harry was screaming in anger at Lucious who had managed to awaken, and Ron and Hermione were yelling for him to settle down, for it was not his fight.
Draco was stuck between a rock and a hard place, literally. The rock of course, being the rock walls of the classroom, and the hard place was a barrier that kept him in place. So unable to move from his proverbial protective prison, he tried to see through the inky darkness that consumed the entire room.
After a few minutes he heard a cry of pain, a feminine cry of pain, which had followed a loud yell of “CRUCIO” and a red light from who he assumed, was sent by his father.
The obvious pain that the girl suffered made him feel pity and compassion for whoever the savoir of his was, for the briefest of instants. After realizing that he was saved by a female he grew enraged at both his father and himself. He was angered at himself for being so weak as to need a female's protection, and angry with his father for being so weak as to be somewhat overpowered by said female, for as short a time as it was.
Draco then heard in fascination as the girl then proceeded to mock his own father. “You are a sorry excuse for a wizard you pathetic wretch. So prepare to face my anger.” Brittany hissed in anger, with an underlying echo which signified her powerful magic taking over.
After a scream of anger from Brittany, Lucious let loose a howl of pain, before he vanished from their lack of sight by turning invisible and fleeing. Draco then raced from the room as well, only to see the Golden Trio, along with the eldest and youngest of the Fox triplets. With a shake of his head, figuring the missing middle child was off reading or something he ran off to the safety of his dorm room. He never once thought that the timid Brittany was the one who unleashed such a powerful spell, he figured her too weak to do anything. She was considered the weakest and least brave of the three triplet.
Brittany expected this reaction though, and as such did not even bat an eyelash at his rudeness. Harry, Ron, and Mitchell all wished to rip the Slytherin `God' into tiny pieces, which he would never be able to come back from. The girls all felt pity at the fact that Brittany's help had been unacknowledged by the one she had at first unwillingly cared for.
Draco then dreamed for the next three years of the girl who had saved his life. Now finally at the battle with Voldemort, he realized that he should have thanked his savoir. Maybe, she would have been there with him right at this moment, and have been able to save him. But unfortunately she was not there, or so he figured.
After being convinced to join the side of good, he was able to learn more about Potter, er, Harry, as well as the others. Brittany tended to avoid him and never spoke a word in his presence, and he chalked it up to her being so weird, and obviously the most anti-social person he had ever known. They were all there of course, in addition to other members of the Order of the Phoenix, which they had all joined when they all became of age.
Draco was confronting the Dark Lord because Voldemort singled him out, as he was the biggest and worst traitor, and that was the truth. Now as he faced the powerful Dark Lord in a duel throwing spells at one another, he began to wish that the girl who had saved him was there to keep him alive one more time. He would have given anything to be saved.
“If only you were here, my guardian angel, this time I would show you the gratitude and thanks you so obviously deserve.” He stated aloud, the fact that he had joined the side of good managed to remove the icicle from his ass.
Brittany heard this and gasped, as did the others. Voldemort began to laugh evilly. “So you wish to be saved once more by some female who had meddled in affairs she was better off staying out of.”
Before Draco could answer, Voldemort sneered before shouting one of the three unforgivable curses. “CRUCIO!” Brittany did not even hesitate before jumping in front of the blast. Draco looked on shocked that the one person who seemed to hate him most was now being tortured in his place.
“You are crazy!” He shouted at her, angered that she had just put herself in harms way for someone he figured she hated, or at least disliked.
“Ha, as I have heard said, `people do crazy things when they are in love.'” She shot back before she smiled weakly at him while wincing in pain.
Voldemort had had quite enough of all the good he was forced to endure witnessing; thus he fired his most deadly spell at the female protecting his once proclaimed heir turned traitor by her and her meddling friends. “Oh, please love is such a fickle thing.” He hissed, “Let me end it for you. AVADA KADAVRA!” He yelled with all his might. The blast sent Brittany into Draco and she managed to land on him and her lips touched his in a kiss. Draco felt her whole body turn ice cold, and froze, a tear spilling down her cheek.
Draco had lost it, he found his guardian angel had been at his side all this time, and he had never known it. Draco kissed the forehead of his protector and then turned suddenly icy cold eyes on the one who had harmed so many. Without a second of time wasted he shot his revenge right out of his wand. He was prepared to face the consequences of using such a spell. Besides he would be considered a hero for doing such an unforgivable curse.
“CRUCIO!” He yelled, as his anger and pain went into the spell, which rendered Voldemort motionless. The Order has already destroyed the last of the horcruxs, with the help of Dumbledore. The others had helped him see killing him would be an enormous mistake, in its own nature, he knew that if killed, Voldemort would stay that way forever.
“AVADA KADAVRA!” rang out from his lips and echoed throughout the entire graveyard of Tom Riddle's father, where they decided to make their final stand. With all the anger in his possession he was able to overcome the Dark Lord, and thus end all his reign of suffering as well.
Though unfortunately for Draco, he had suffered the highest blow. The girl who had saved him, he had dreamt of her voice and power for three years. Unfortunately, now that he was able to meet her and find out her true identity, she was ripped from him mercilessly. With a cry of anguish Draco held his angel in his arms and kissed her forehead softly. With a tear that escaped his eyes he stood and carried her over to the others, and broke down as her sister, and her best friend both began to sob at the loss of one so dear to them. Harry, Ron and Mitchell all hung their heads as they headed to the portkey that would return them to Hogwarts.
That night Draco went to sleep in a daze not really feeling anything. He had contemplated just ending it all, but then thought better of it, why should he kill himself, he'd be damned to hell, and he knew that his guardian angel would never see him when he died. So as he fell asleep a soft hand barely touched his skin and a beautiful angel was watching over him.
She was transparent, but her beauty was still as apparent as when she had been alive.
She chuckled as she felt him lean into her feather light touch. “I guess I really was your guardian angel huh. Oh well, we'll meet again. Besides I kinda like being able to fly around like this. I'll watch over you for now, and that shall be enough for me.” With that she faded away into the night, and a whisper was heard on the breeze. “So see you in your dreams.”
Draco awoke with a start. That was certainly an oddly lifelike dream. He thought as he stood up from his bed, hearing Crabb and Goyle snoring away. Creeping out of his dorm room he realized that it was nearing morning, and he figured a trip to the Great Hall was in order. Some food would clear his head, along with a nice walk. Suddeny he was pulled into a random classroom by a strong grip. Fighting it he was flung into the corner of the room. His father stepped out from the shadows, and Draco felt and odd sense of Deja Vous.
He remembered the dream, and was not surprised when he heard a loud, “Well, damn!” from the middle Fox sibling, or should he say Brittany.
With the events occurring the same exact way as the dream he figured the fates must have wanted to warn him of the possible future and give him a chance to change it. That is if he had wanted to, if not he could just suffer in three years for being stubborn, and ignoring their advice. Well he decided that he quite liked the idea of controlling his own fate, and that the original one where he had felt pain like none he had ever felt was overrated.
So in the end, instead of racing from the room when Brittany had made his father scream in pain which caused him to vanish in fear of her anger; he ran right to where he felt her powers. Well he had rammed right into her as a matter of fact, but while knocking her to the ground him smiled as the darkness began to slowly fade away.
“Now why would you be awake at such and odd hour, Fox?” He asked in a much kinder tone than he had ever used on her before, or anyone for that matter.
“Well I had this really strange dream and I felt a walk would clear my head, they just decided to come along to find out about the dream.” She replied still stunned, while pointing in the direction of the voices asking if she was okay.
“Well it looks as though we have something in common then. Now I believe that thanks are in order. Now I will never actually say any words of gratitude, at least not yet, but I can sure as bloody hell show you. And I believe that I will right now.”
An elderly man smiled at his grandson before laughing at his angered expression. “The rest is just kissing, and I know you are uninterested in that.” He laughed whole heartedly.
“Well I guess I do not mind it as much. It is okay since it is the end of the story. So keep going Grandpa.” The little boy stated.
The old man's eyes twinkled over have moon spectacles, and he opened a large book entitles, A Collection of Hogwarts Story's “Alright now where was I? Ah yes! Here we are.”
The scene returned to Draco and Brittany her hair fanned out beneath her, with the light finally shinning through the darkness. One of Draco's hands was supporting her neck while the other was currently stroking her cheek. Brittany had her own hands tangled in his hair.
A voice over was heard by none of the character's in the room. “Well there were five kisses rated the most passionate, and the most pure in Hogwarts History. Lily and James Potter's wedding kiss, Harry Potter and Sondra Fox's first kiss, Ron Weasley's and Hermione Granger's first, Mitchell Fox's and Ginny Weasley's first, and Minerva McGonagall, and Albus Dumbledore first kiss. This one blew them all away, with it's own passion and purity.”
With that Draco kissed Brittany with a fiery passion, and he held onto her tightly as his hand fell from her cheek to her waist. Brittany's brother, as well as Harry and Ron, had to be dragged away from the scene so that they did not interrupt. With the hallway clear Brittany smiled into the kiss and pulled Draco closer. Once they broke apart there was a smile on her face and a smirk on his. “That is how Draco Malfoy tells someone `thank you.' Or should I say, that special someone of mine.”
Brittany just smiled broadly at him; obviously she was very pleased by this remark, and thus a very happy witch. “Well then I guess I will have to make you very thankful more often.” She playfully smirked as well.
“Well then I guess I will never be able to let you go. Oh and Brittany. I would be delighted if you would do just that.” With that he sealed his declaration with another passionate kiss.
“And they all lived happily ever after. The end!” The grandfather stated. He then closed the book with a small thud and set it down upon the bedside table.
The little boy smiled up at the old man and said with an innocent, yet obviously satisfied tone, “I would really like it if you would come over tomorrow and read another story, or you could read that one again.”
“I guess I could. I am sure you will be up to it.”
“I would be delighted if you would.” He said back happily quoting the last line of the book, except for the happily ever after part.
“Well then I shall see you tomorrow.” He stated happily.
“Goodbye, Grandpa Dumbledore.” The child stated back happily.
As Dumbledore closed the door to the room he smiled inwardly. He guessed that the next day he could read to his grandson about the boy who lived and the youngest Fox triplet. With that decision made he walked out of the room and out of the mansion. All the while he was thanking his lucky stars that Professor Talwreny was able to create such a dreamscape for those two would be hopeless soul mates.
“It should say, `And, with loads of help, they lived happily ever after.' ” Dumbledore smiled as he remembered their wedding day, Brittany being a nervous wreck, and Draco being fidgety and anxious for the wedding night. “Happily ever after indeed.”
