“Don’t worry, Myou, Ami, I’m sure you’ll fit in great here!”” David, the girls father, exclaimed as they pulled onto the street Private Drive. “I hear that the family at number 4 even have a son your age, isn’t that great?””

Ami crossed her arms and huffed. ““Dad, we’re in London, and we have Japanese names……people are bound to make fun of us.””

Myou smiled at her sister. “Come on, Sis, aren’t you the least bit excited?”

The twins mother, Emi, smiled and looked back to the two sisters. “Myou’s right, Ami, there’s no reason to be scared. I’m sure everyone will love you!”

Myou gave her sister a sly look. “Oh……Ami?”

“What?” She asked, annoyed.

Myou smiled and started tickling her sister. Ami giggled and tickled Myou back.

“Ok, girls. Here we are, number 6 Private Drive.” Their father said, pulling into the driveway of their new house. “Well girls how about you two go say hi to the neighbors while we help the movers?”

Ami huffed, and Myou grinned.

“Alright, Daddy!” Myou said, dragging her older twin out of the car. “Be back soon!”” She ran to the closest one, Number 4. “This is the one with the boy our age.” Myou said with a smiled towards her sister as she knocked on the door.

Ami just rolled her eyes.

“Harry! Answer the door!” A voice called from the other side.

A young boy answered the door a second later. “May I help you?” He asked in a small voice.

Myou smiled. “Hi! I’m Myou and this is Ami, and we just moved into number 6, across the street!”

“Who is it boy!?””

The boy turned his head to face a very large man, sitting at a table. “Um, new neighbors, sir?”

The large man stood and walked to the door, pushing the boy, Harry, out of the way. “’Ello, and what can I do for you?”

Myou smiled. “My father told us to say hi to the new neighbors! He said you had a son our age, oh, I’m Myou and this is my sister, Ami.”

Vernon eyed the two girls for a few seconds before Dudley came to the door. He wiped his sweat palms on his shirt and smiled at Myou, who found it hard to smile back. “’Ello, I’m Dudley.”

Myou gave him the sweetest smile she could conjure. “Oh, Hi. I’m Myou.”

Dudley laughed piggishly. “I like your name.””

Myou gave him an Odd look for a second, then it vanished. “and I yours……who was that other boy, the one who answered the door.”

Neither the large man, nor his son answered for a second. “Oh, well, he’s my nephew, not good for anything though, a bad apple.””

Myou stole another glance at Harry, who was now setting bacon and eggs on the table. “Oh, I see. Well, me and my sister are sorry for interrupting your breakfast, maybe we should come back another time.”

“Why don’t you join us!” Dudley said excitedly.

Vernon looked at his son, then back at the guest. ““Yes, why don’t you join us……might want to ask your parents first, I assume.”

Myou smiled again. “Er, yeah. Ok then. Come on, Ami, lets go ask Mum.” She said with a bit too much cheer. Dudley decided to walk across the street with them, to both of their dismay.

Emi was helping Jeremie and Jacob, their little brothers, into the house. “Hey, Mum. Do you think it’s ok if we have breakfast with Dudley and his family at number 4?”

Emi smiled. “That’s great! I’m glad you’re making friends, Myou, Ami. Be back son, I’ll have the movers put your stuff in your rooms.”

Ami snorted, then raised a brow. “Rooms? As in we each have our own now?” When Emi nodded Am smiled. “Finally! Some privacy.”

Myou laughed and slapped Ami lightly before turning to Dudley. “Alright, let’s go."

Breakfast with the Dursley’s was an odd affair, Myou decided. The boy Dudley got the most food, she noticed, and the other boy, Harry just got whatever the other boy did not eat, which wasn’t much. And Myou had a sinking feeling that the only reason Dudley was eating so much was because he didn’t want Harry to eat anything at all.

“So, Dudley……What school do you go to?”

Dudley straightened his back. “Smeltings, of course.”

Myou gave him a confused look. “Smeltings?” She asked in a curious voice.

Ami snorted at her sister. “Myou I can’t believe you’ve never heard of Smeltings. it’s a rather harsh boarding school, it is. Mum said that Dad went there when he was our age.”

Myou raised a brow at her sister. “Really? So that’s why Dad was so eager to move here!”

“Really! Your dad went to Smeltings, what’s his name?”

“His name is David Belfair, sir.”” Ami said politely.

“Ho! Really now my dear?” Vernon said with a cheer as he shoved an egg into his mouth. “Petunia, David was a dear friend! We should invite him over sometime.”

Petunia, a rather skinny woman with what looked like the neck of a Giraffe, smiled at him. “Yes, of course!”

Harry rolled his eyes and ate a very cold piece of egg.

“Um, Harry, was it?” Myou said, looking at Harry.

He looked up at her, shocked. “Um, yes?”

“Where do you go to school at?”

"Oh, well, I’m going to be going to Stonewall High.” He said, looking back at his food, figuring it was the end of the conversation.

Myou smiled. “Oh, is it a nice school?”

Dudley laughed. “They stuff peoples heads down the toilets the first day at Stonewall.”

Myou wrinkled her nose. “That’s ghastly! Surly you're joking?”

Dudley laughed. “Nope, I’m sure he will get more then one dunking too!”

Myou shifted in her seat, but said nothing, taking a bite out of a piece of bacon. There was a knock on the door.

“Boy, go get it.” Said Vernon, not looking up from his newspaper.

Harry sighed and it's okras to answered the door. “May I help you?”

“Hello my good boy! I’m Myou’s mom, Emi, this is my husband David, and or sons Jeremie and Jacob.”

Harry smiled. “Oh, come in.”

Emi smiled down at the boy and entered the house. “Hello.” She said with a smile, nodding her head at the people at the table.

“Mom!” Myou said with a smile.

“David! It’s good to see you again, it’s me, Vernon.” He said, standing from the table and walking over to the man, extending his hand.

“Vernon!? Wow! You look……different.” David said, shaking the other mans hand. “So, you didn’t move I see? Still number 4 Private Drive.”

“Yes, yes, why don’t we go to the living room……Dudley, take them up to your room, the boy too, after he cleans the table.” Vernon said as he directed David and Emi into the living room.

"Come on, up here.” Dudley said, climbing the stairs.

Myou pursed her lips together. “Ami, you go ahead with Jeremie and Jacob. I’m gonna help Harry with the dishes.” She walked over to the table and helped Harry gather the dishes as Ami took their brothers, who were each 10, up the stairs after Dudley.

“Um……thank you.” Harry said with a blush.

She smiled back. “It’s no problem, Harry……your Aunt and Uncle don't seem to treat you very well. Doesn’t Dudley ever have to did stuff like this?” She asked as she help him put the dishes in the dish washer.

“Nope, just me. It’s always been that way.” Harry said with a shrug.

Myou looked startled. “What? Me and my sister and brothers alternate. Ami does it, then me, then Jeremie, then Jacob, youngest to oldest.” She shook her head. “Come on, let’s hurry up and get up there.”

Myou sat on her new bed and opened the first box. It was full of stuffed animals. She smiled fondly at them and began to arrange them on a shelf next to her bed. The next box was filled with books on almost every subject known to the muggle world. These were set on the bookshelf next to the door.

It took Myou about an hour to unpack everything into her room. She looked around and frowned for a second. Something was missing, she knew it. She left the room and headed down the stairs and found her parents in the basement, setting up a pool table. “Mum, Dad?” she asked, coming down the wooden stairs. “I was wondering, do you think I can, well, paint my room…make a mural?”

Emi and David stopped what they were doing to look at their daughter wearily. “Well, hunny, what did you have planned?” Emi asked her daughter.

Myou frowned. “I don’t know, Mum…but when I think of it, do you think I can do it?”

David laughed and nodded at his daughter. “Alright, I’ll tell you what. You find out what you want to do, and we’ll buy half of the supplies, and you buy the other half. That will help with your responsibility.”

Myou nodded and hugged her father happily. “Alright! Sure, daddy!”

“Ok hun. It’s pretty late. How about I cook us some dinner, then it’s off to bed with you.” Emi said as she led he daughter up stairs.

Breakfast was always a nice affair for the whole family, but after a week in the new home, everyone could say they were pleased, even though the Dursleys had left abruptly, leaving Ami and Myou without anyone to play with.

Emi cooked eggs and toast, along with beacon and potatoes. Everyone ate happily, Myou told about some of her ideas for her room, and Ami decided she wanted to paint her room to, but only one color, not like Myou who went crazy with ideas.

David heard the mail flap open so he turned to Jeremie. “Could you get the mail, son?”

There was a knock on the door, and David stood to get it. “I wonder who that could be.” He said in a confused voice. “Ami, your turn to do the dishes.” With that, he left for the door. There was another knock and he opened it. Shock filled his eyes upon seeing who it was. “Arthur Weasley? Is that you?”

Arthur looked a bit shocked to say the least. This muggle knew him? “Um…yes. And you know me?”

David laughed as he shook Arthur’s hand. “You went to school with my sister, Mary.”

Arthur’s eyes lit up. “Of course! Wow, isn’t this a surprise, oh, may I come in then?”

David smiled and ushered him into the living room. “Here have a seat. Emi dear! Could you put on some tea! We have a guest!” David sat on the couch too. “Now, Arthur what can I do for you! Never thought I’d see you again that’s for sure.”

Arthur smiled at Emi as she brought out some ice tea. “Thank you.” He said politely with a nod. “I’m afraid,” He said, turning to David, “That this is not a pleasure trip. I’m here to inform you that your children have been excepted into the school. Delightful, isn’t it?”

David smiled brightly. “Really now!? Even the boys. I know there not 11 yet…”

Arthur took a sip of his tea. “Yes, all of them. When ever a magical child is born, Hogwarts writes down the acceptance letter.”

“Dear?” Emi asked, standing in the doorway, her children around her. “Hogwarts? As in the school your sister went to as a child?” Emi asked, knowing full well about the magical school.

“Seems it runs through the family.” David said with a shrug. “Well, what now?” He said as he turned to Arthur.

Arthur smiled and set down his tea. “School supplies of course. School starts soon, a month I suppose. Well come on then, have to get you ready, don’t we?”

Myou and Ami both stood uneasily in front of the Gringotts Wizardry Bank. Their father, David was by them, and with him there was Arthur. “Well then, let’s get your muggle currency turning into Wizard money.”

“Could they do that with my card? I don’t have any cash.”

Arthur smiled. “Course! They take the money out of the card and give it to you in Wizard coins.” Arthur said as he led them into the bank. “Could we can a currency exchange?”

After that, Arthur said it was best to get the school books. “You can get all of them at Flourish & Blotts It’s a book store, around here.”

From there they got the books (which were to be sent to the house before they left for school), then they also got wands, each f them, though it took forever to find the right ones, after that the robes, hat, gloves, and a thinker winter jacket, and of course the other items that were needed.

“David, I was wondering if you were going to get familiars too,” Arthur started. “They can have an owl, or a cat, or a toad.”

David sighed. “Yes, yes, I remember. Well, Emi will kill me, but, I don’t see why they can’t have one.” He patted both the girls on the head. “Alright, where can we?”

Arthur smiled. “Come along! This way.” He led them to an animal shop by the looks of things. It had many animals, including some animals that Myou and Ami and their father did not know the names of. “Here we are, Magical Menagerie. Animals of every possible kind!”

Myou instantly ran over to a container containing playing kittens.

They were all playing with each other and were a variety of colors, many not normal cat colors, and some even having ears to large for cats.

As Myou looked on, she saw in the back of the container a kitten that wasn’t playing with the rest. It was deep scarlet in color and had black fur covered wings protruding from its back. Over its lip hung sharp looking fangs too big for an ordinary kitten.

“What is that?” Myou asked with interest.

The store assistant looked inside the container. “Oh, her. Her mother got into a fight with a bat, and we think the bat was rabid because with the mother cat had kittens, this little one turned out like this. All the others were normal, however.”

Myou turned to face her dad. “I want this one, daddy!”

David looked at the kitten wearily. “Well, if it’s the one you want…”

Ami pulled on his sleeve. “Dad, they don’t have owls.”

Arthur smiled and put a hand on Ami’s shoulder. “If you want an owl, we can go to Eeylop’s Owl Emporium.” He said with a reassuring look.

“Alright, just the cat then.”

After they bought the cat, the bought an owl that was tawny in color. It’s eyes were a brilliant shade of green, and its wings with tipped in black. Ami had named it Kyou for ‘disaster’ as it was a very feisty owl.

After that, they were headed back to the Leaky Cauldron when Myou spotted something that caught her eye, another alleyway. Intrigued as she was, she broke away from the group of four, and headed down the alley.

Myou immediately regretted her decision as she saw many shady people here, most of which scared her out of her mind. She looked back and fourth and yet, she could figure out from which way she had come. She had all but given up hope, when someone tapped her on her shoulder.

“looking for someone, I presume?” Draco Malfoy stood behind her.

She gaped at him for a second, then blushed scarlet red. “W...what?” She stuttered, looking at her feet.

“I asked if you were looking for someone. Get lost? A girl like you should not be in Knockturn Alley.” Draco spoke again, grabbing her hand and walking her away from the dark alley.

“What? Knockturn Alley? But, I was in Diagon Alley! Shopping with my father.” She said as she began to get even more frightened.

Draco rolled his eyes. “Quit whining, I’ll find your dad. So,…I’m Draco Malfoy, and you are?” He gave her a side glance.

Myou looked up from the ground to Draco. “I’m Myou Belfair.”

Draco paused and turned his eyes towards Myou. “Belfair? Never heard of you. Dad a muggle?” Draco started walking again, however did not take Myou’s hand again.

Myou started walking by him. “Yup...” She was about to say ‘so’s my mom.’ however, she was afraid to. What if this boy was prejudice against muggle-born’s as Arthur said some people were? “Um…what about you?”

Draco snorted. “I’m a pure blood. Nothing muggle about me, thank Merlin.”

“Oh…there’s my dad. Thank you.” Myou said before running off to her father. “Daddy! I’m so sorry! I’ll never wonder off again.”

David laughed. “It’s ok, it’s ok! We were just about to look for you. Come now, time to go.”

Myou stood nervously with her sister at the barrier between platform nine and ten, all of there stuff on a trolley with them. Arthur had said that they had to run between the two platforms in this manor, then they would find platform 9 & ¾.

Ami did it first, she got a brave look upon her face and closed her eyes, then charged at the barriers. She waited for the impact, but was surprised when she found none. Instead, she went through and saw it, the Hogwarts bus. She quickly moved out of the way, and Myou appeared behind here.

“Wow.” Said the younger sibling intelligently.

Ami rolled her eyes. “Yeah, wow, and your vampire kitty isn’t, ‘wow’?” She asked sarcastically as she started heading for the train. “Come on, sis, we want to get an empty compartment!”

They found the compartment that they wanted and sat together, of course. Myou looked confused as another person entered the compartment. She had brown/blondish hair, and bright golden eyes. Myou, who had practically memorized Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them recognized this person instantly as an elf.

“You! You’re an-!” Myou tried to exclaim, but the person covered her mouth.

“Shh…” She said before sitting down next to Myou. “Don’t tell anyone, Elves don’t go to wizardry schools normally…how did you know?”

Myou smiled brightly. “I know everything about mythical creatures! For example, elves-”

“Um, hello…”

All three of them turned to the new voice and Myou smiled brightly. “Harry! I can’t believe this. You’re a wizard?” She asked as she immediately recognized Harry.

Harry smiled and moved into the compartment long with his friend. “I guess so, and you? Are your parents magical too?”

Myou shook her head. “Nope, but apparently my Aunt Mary is! And hello, you are?” Myou asked, turning to Ron.

He blushed scarlet. “I’m Ron Weasley.”

“Oh! So your Arthur’s son?” Ron turned to Ami confused. “Oh, sorry, I’m Ami, Myou’s sister, of course. Arthur’s was the Auror who gave us or letters, that’s what they do with muggle borns!”

“Would you like anything off the cart, dears?” Asked an elderly witch as she came by with a large cart filled with sweets and snacks off all kinds.

The elf, Ruthian, shriveled her nose in disgust and looked out the window.

The two twins, however jumped up, along with Harry, and practically bought the whole thing.

“Ron, don’t you want anything?” Harry asked quickly.

Ron looked downcast and shook his head. “Um, no, I brought sandwiches.” He said, pulling out a lumpy package and unwrapping it as the trolley lady left to the other compartments. “She always forgets I don’t like corned beef.” He whispered to himself.

Myou looked down at her candy, then back at Ron. “Hey! Those look good! I’ll trade you…some Chocolate Frogs, Pumpkin Pastries, and Every Flavor Beans for them?” She asked him, giving him a puppy dog look.

Ron smiled. “Oh, sure! If you really want them I mean…”

Myou felt happier as Ron smiled and took a bite out of one of the Pumpkin Pastries. She looked down at the corned beef sandwich and held back a grimace, then took a bite out of it. She mentally sighed, well it wasn’t the most terrible thing she’d ever eaten.

“What are these?” Harry suddenly asked, studying a pack of Chocolate Frogs. “They’re not…real frogs, are they?” He asked, feeling as if nothing would startle him anymore.

Ruthian spoke up first. “No, their not real. I’m Ruthian by the way.”

Harry smiled at her.

“Hey, check the card and see who it is; I’m missing Agrippa.”

“They come with cards?” Myou asked in wonder, picking up one of her own packages.

“Oh, of course, you wouldn’t know. Chocolate Frogs have cards inside them, you know, to collect - famous witches and wizards. I’ve got 500, but I haven’t got Agrippa or Ptolemy.”

“Ptolemy!” Myou exclaimed, her eyes shining.

“Oh no…you’ve got her started.” Ami frowned and shook her head.

Myou all of the sudden started crying. “He died! Why would he do that? How could the author been so cruel! Nathaniel!”

Everyone started at the sniveling girl. Ami sighed and started to explain. “You see, Myou loves reading and got into a Trilogy called the Bartimaeus Trilogy(1). And well, the main character, Nathaniel, died at the end. She wouldn’t stop crying for weeks! I swear.”

“But why would Ptolemy remind her of that?” Ron asked, still confused; Myou gave a wail at the sound of the name.

Ami rolled her eyes. “Because the djinn Bartimaeus had a master named Ptolemy and often changed into his form in the human world.”

“Sorry,” A boy looked into their compartment, “but have you seen a toad at all?”

Everyone shook their head and the boy continued down the train, wailing about his toad.

“Well, that was weird.” Everyone turned to Myou, who seemed to have forgotten all about Ptolemy.

“Tell me about it. I mean, to bring a toad? I would loose it as soon as possible. Though, I brought Scabbers here,” Ron took out a rat from his jacket, “so I can’t talk. I tried to work a spell on him to turn him yellow, you know, make him a little more interesting, but it didn’t work. Wanna see?” Ron pulled out his wand, but was stopped by a voice.

“Has anyone seen a toad, Neville’s lost one.” The girl had a sort of bossy voice to her, and Ron didn’t take nicely to that.

“We already told him we haven’t seen it.” Ron said in an annoyed voice, but the girl wasn’t even listening, she was looking at the wand in his hand.

“Oh, are you doing magic? Let’s see it then.” She sat down by Ruthian

Ron looked taken aback. “Um, er, alright then.” He cleared his throat. “Sunshine, daisies, butter mellow, turn this stupid fat rat yellow.” He then waved his wand, but nothing happened.

“Are you sure that’s a real spell?” Asked the girl, “Well, it’s not very good, now is it?”

“That was a bit mean, you know?” Myou barked out as Ron looked downcast again. “He was just giving it a shot. Not like you could do any better. We are all first years here.” Myou glared at Hermione, who was glaring at her. “You know, it’s going to be hard for you to make friends if your so…know-it-allish.”

Hermione stopped glaring and frowned. She then sighed. “I’m nervous. There’s not one magical person in my family and well, I’m just a little scared is all.”

“I’m Ron Weasley.” Ron muttered after the awkward silence.

“Harry Potter.” Harry followed up.

“You’re the Harry Potter? I know all about you! You’re in Modern Magical History and The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts, and Great Wizarding Events of the Twentieth Century!”

Harry blushed and looked a bit confused. “I am?”

“Yes you are. Oh, well I better go help Neville. Bye! See you soon.” Hermione then left with the toadless boy, Neville.

“Say Harry, what house do you think you’ll get in. Mum says she knows I’ll get Gryffindor. Everyone in the family has been there!”

Harry shrugged. “I dunno.”

“I hope I get into Ravenclaw.” Ami said proudly, stiffening her back.

Myou laughed at her. “Why’s that, Ami?”

Ami glared. “Because, the Ravenclaw’s are the smartest!”

Myou nodded. Her sister did have a knack for learning, she’d give her that. “Well, I think I’ll get into Hufflepuff. Because it’s said that Hufflepuffs make friends that will last forever, and that’s what I want.”

Ruthian smiled. “Well, I think Gryffindor is the place for me. Gryffindors are brave and not afraid of anything, no matter what the challenge is! Whether it’s facing a fierce dragon, or looking death in the face and laughing at it! Exciting no?”

“No.” Said everyone in unison.

Once again the their fun was interrupted as a pale blonde boy, Draco Malfoy, entered the compartment with two of his friends, Crabbe and Goyle. “Is it true, I hear Harry Potter is in here. That you then?” Malfoy asked, looking at Harry.

“Yes.” Harry replied, looking at the two other boys. Each one standing on a side of Malfoy, they looked like bodyguards.

“Oh, this is Crabbe and Goyle. And I’m Draco Malfoy.”

Ron coughed into his hand, which was really the polite way of holding back a snigger. Malfoy looked at him.

“Think I’ve got a funny name do you? Well, I don’t even need to ask who you are, dad’s told me all about the Weasleys. Red hair, freckled faces, and more children then they can afford.” Malfoy sneered at Ron and turned back to Harry. “You’ll find that some Wizarding families are much better then the others, Potter. You wouldn’t want to go and make friends with the wrong sort. I could help you there.” Malfoy held out his hand to shake Harry’s, but the-boy-who-lived didn’t take it.

“I think I can tell who the wrong sort are on my own, thanks.” He said as calm as ever.

Malfoy didn’t get red in the cheeks like one would think, however they did turn a bit pink compared to his normal pale completion. “I’d be careful, Potter,” He sneered slowly, “unless you’re a bit politer, you just might end up like your parents. They didn’t know what was good for them either, and look where it got them.”

Everyone jumped up immediately.

“Say that again!” Ron said rather bravely.

“Oh, fight us, will you?” Malfoy said with a sneer. A wand was put in his face.

“I may be muggle born, but I’m memorized almost ever hex in the book.” Myou said threateningly, glaring at the boy.

Draco’s eyes widened. “You’re the girl from the alley! To think, I helped a mud-blood!”

Myou’s eyes started to sting, but she held it back.

“If I had known that, I would have left you to rot there.” Sneered the pale youth.

Myou opened her mouth, most likely to say a hex, but Ami pounced at Draco, punching him in the face. As both of them landed on the floor, Ami on top, she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt. “If you ever, and I do mean EVER say anything mean or nasty to my sister again…I swear I’ll Crucio you to oblivion!”

Everyone was silent in the compartment. Ever heard of a silence so think you could hear a pin drop miles away? This was like that.

Malfoy sneered suddenly. “That a treat, mud blood? Are you that willing to go to Azkaban?”

Ami snickered. “No, Malfoy, it’s not a threat, it’s a bloody promise.”

“She doesn’t mean it, Malfoy.” Myou said, quietly, puling her sister away from the boy. “She’s just protective.”

Malfoy got up and sneered one last time before leaving. Just as everyone started to settle down, the annoying girl showed back up.

“You’d better hurry and get your robes on, we’re almost there,” She commented in once again a bossy voice before leaving again.

Oh, you may not think I’m pretty,

But don’t judge what you see,

I’ll eat myself if you can find,

A smarter hat then me.

You can keep your bowlers black,

Your top hats sleek and tall,

For I am the Hogwarts Sorting Hat

And I can top them all.

There’s nothing hidden in your head,

The Sorting Hat can’t see,

So try me on and I will tell you

Were you ought to be.

You might belong in Gryffindor,

Where dwell the brave at heart,

Their daring, nerve, and chivalry

Set Gryffindors apart;

You might belong in Hufflepuff,

Where they are just and loyal,

Those patient Hufflepuffs are true

And unafraid of toil;

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,

If you’ve a ready mind,

Where those of wit and learning,

Will always find their kind;

Or perhaps in Slytherin

You’ll make real friends,

Those cunning folk use any means

To achieve their ends.

So put me on! Don’t be afraid!

And don’t get in a flap!

You’re in safe hands (though I have none)

For I’m a thinking Cap!”

Myou laughed at the Sorting Hat’s song, and turned to her elf friend. “So, Ruthian, what house do you think you’ll be sorted into again?” Myou asked Ruthian as they waited with the rest of the first years in the Great Hall to be sorted.

Ruthian smiled. “Gryffindor, remember, daring adventures and such.” She said with a laugh.

“Abell, Ruthian!” McGonagall called out Ruthian’s name.

Ruthian took a deep breath and smiled. “Well, wish me luck.” She walked to the stool and looked up at Dumbledore. He nodded his head at her. She smiled and sat on the stool, then put the hat on her head.

Ah, what do we have here…An elf, uh?

Ruthian jumped, startled as the strange voice whispered into her ear. “How did you know that?” She asked, skeptically.

There is nothing that I do not know, as long as you know it…now lets see, you are brave, very much so…kind, courageous…I have the perfect place for someone like you… “GRYFFINDOR!”

The table on the far left cheered. Ruthian had become the first Gryffindor of the year. She smiled at Dumbledore and stood. She placed the hat back on the stool and thanked it, then made her way to the Gryffindor table and sat down. She was greeted with hand shakes and friendly faces.

“Banes, Susan!” McGonagall read once again from the scroll.

Myou looked to her sister. “This place sure is big, huh, Ami?”

Ami rolled her eyes. “Of course it’s big-”

“Belfair, Ami!”

Ami gulped and practically ran to the stool and jammed the hat on her head.

Let’s see…you’re a smart one all right…so much could be done with applying yourself…

“What…? Is that the…hat talking?”

I’m not just any hat, I’m the Hogwarts Sorting hat…now, let’s see…what to do…”Ravenclaw!”

The table next to Gryffindor, let out there cat calls and Ami quickly made her way there. She was greeted, much as Ruthian was, with friendly faces.

“Belfair, Myou!”

Myou gulped and looked around gingerly. Slowly she walked up to the stool and placed the hat on her head. She just sat there, and waited, feeling stupid. Until, finally, a voice rang out in her ear.

Cunning little thing, aren’t you…sly just like a snake…

Were the only words the hat said to her before making a shout.

“Slytherin!”

No table cheered. Myou looked at Dumbledore, who looked a bit pale, and he nodded his head at a table. Myou felt dread fill her. Why where there no cheers? She was not only the first Slytherin, but…shouldn’t they just cheer anyway. She sat at the table.

“Hi…my names-”

“It’s not like we care, mud-blood.” A girl said with a sneer beside her. “Why don’t you go back to your muggle home.”

Myou sighed and looked back to the first years. Some students were sent to Gryffindor, some to Ravenclaw, a few to Hufflepuff before finally the silver haired boy, Malfoy, was sent to Slytherin.

Myou winced. “Um…” She started at said boy sat between his friends and glared at her.

She was cut off by a commotion at the Gryffindor table, but that quickly died down. She looked over there at her friend Ruthian, smiling and laughing with her already new friends. Why did the stupid hat put her here anyway?

“You know what I say Myou? Why don’t you just go back to your pathetic muggle home.” Malfoy said with a smirk.

Myou looked down again. “I-”

“How about you leave the girl alone, Malfoy.” Said an Italian boy as he sat next to Myou. “Hi, my names Blaise Zabini. And you are?”

Myou smiled. Finally, someone who she could talk to who wouldn’t throw insults at her. “I’m Myou! It’s nice to meet you.”

“Blaise, why must you associate yourself with the mud-bloods? It’s degrading.”

“Welcome!” Dumbledore said, cutting Malfoy off. “Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

“Thank you!”

Myou smiled at his small speech, then she got the sock of her life when food appeared before her. “Wow!” She exclaimed, filling her plate. To her dismay, the other Slytherins not only ignored her, but scooted away and refused to even look at her. She picked up her fork and poked at a few things, but didn’t even eat.

“Just ignore them. The whole lot of them are stuck up.” Blaise said with a wink as he took a bite out of his steak. “So, whole family of muggles? Sounds nice.”

Myou smiled a bit and took a bite of a rather sweet looking roll. “Yes, the whole family, except an aunt. It is nice, but all of this is quite exciting…except that stupid hat put me in the wrong house.”

Blaise flashed her a brilliant smile. “Well, if it makes you feel better, I’m glad you’re here.”
