Chapter 8: Surprising New Talents
At the Start Of Term Feast, Slytherin Table:
“I wish the old fart up there would hurry up and finish yapping, so we can eat!” Naraku grumbled.
“You're right about McGanolore being an old fart,” Kanna agreed, glaring at the short man with brown hair, brown eyes, and a pudgy face that kept blabbing about the importance of safety with Voldemort still about.
“And on that note, I wish you to tuck in, and have fun this year!” McGanolore said, smiling at the students.
The plates in front of all students magically filled with food, and they began to eat.
“FINALLY!” Dracana yelled, immediately reaching for the chicken legs and French fries that were on the platters closest to her. Naraku got everything he could reach, and piled all of it onto his plate, grinning like an idiot. Kagura, Yura, and Kanna piled a little salad on each of their plates, and Jaken, who was once again bound, looked longingly at the baked potatoes and, since his mouth was taped shut, let out an extremely muffled wail. Sesshoumaru just picked off of Dracana's plate, never having been one to eat in the Great Hall. All through dinner, he stared at her longingly, looking like a love-struck puppy. Almost literally!
At the Slytherin Table, With Voldina:
“I'm not hungry,” Draconus said, poking the French fries that were scattered over his plate.
“Me neither…” Kagome said.
“Nor us,” Miroku and Voldina said. Voldina leaned on Miroku, and her wrapped his arms lovingly around her slender form.
“I'm not either,” Sango said, slouching. Suddenly, Draconus started to cry. Sango pulled him close, and began to sing.
“Send her over,
A cadle is lit, I see through her!
Blow it out and,
Save all her ashes for me!
Curse me, sold her,
The poison that runs it's course through her!
Pale, white skin with
Strawberry gashes all over, all over!
Watch me falter!
Watch me falter!
You're living like a disaster!
She said, “Kill me faster!”
With strawberry gashes all over, all over!
Called her over,
And asked her if she was improving.
She said, “Feels fine, it's wonderful, wonderful here!”
Hex me, told her,
I dreamt of a devil that knew her,
Pale, white skin with,
Strawberry gashes all over, all over!
Watch me falter!
You're living like a disaster!
She said “Kill me faster!”
With strawberry gashes all over, all over!
With strawberry gashes all over, all over!
I lay, quiet,
Waiting for her voice to say,
“Some things fuse,
And some things you just give away!”
Scold me, failed her!
If only I'd held on tighter
To her pale, white skin, blood,
Twisted and withered away from me,
Away from me!
Watch me lose her,
It's almost like losing myself!
Give her my soul,
Give her my soul,
And let them take somebody else,
Get away from me!
Watch me falter!
Watch me falter!
You're living like a disaster!
She said, “Kill me faster!”
With strawberry gashes all over,
All over me!
“Wow,” Miroku said, impressed. “That was beautiful…”
“Thank you,” Sango said. “I wrote it myself.”
“That's amazing!” Kagome said. “Did you write anything else over the summer?”
“That's amazing!” Kagome said. “Did you write anything else over the summer?”
“Yeah, quite a few, actually,” Sango replied, still holding Draconus to her chest.
“I didn't know you could sing, Sango,” Voldina said, looking at her friend.
“That's `cause you aren't around when I sing,” Sango said. “Usually only Draconus is around when I sing, because I only sing to him.”
“No wonder,” Miroku said, still holding Voldina close; she had begun to shiver.
“Sing another,” Draconus whimpered, tears still falling from his electric-blue eyes.
“I'm so tired of being here,
Suppressed by all my childish fears.
And if you have to leave,
I wish that you would just leave!
Because your presence still lingers here,
And it won't leave me alone!
These wounds won't seem to heal,
This pain is just too real!
There's just too much that time cannot erase!
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears!
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears!
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears!
And I've held your hand through all of these years!
But you still have all of me!
You used to captivate me,
By your resonating light,
Now I'm bound by the life you left behind!
Your face, it haunts my once pleasant dreams,
Your voice has chased away all the sanity in me!
These wounds won't seem to heal!
This pain is just too real!
There's just too much that time cannot erase!
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears!
When you'd scream, I'd fight away all of your fears!
And I've held your hand through all of these years!
But you still have all of me!
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone.
But you still have all of me!
I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone.
But though, you're still with me,
I've been alone all along!
I've been alone all along!
When you cried, I'd wipe away all of your tears!
When you screamed, I'd fight away all of your fears!
And I held your hand through all of these years!
But you still have all of me!
But you still have all of me!
“That's the same kind of song that I usually write,” Voldina said.
“You write songs?” Kagome asked, astonished.
“Yes, and I sing, as well,” Voldina replied, looking sadly at Kagome.
“Sing a song for us,” Sango said, looking at Voldina apprehensively.
“Not right now…” Voldina said, burying her face in Miroku's chest. “But you might wanna know that I write music for my songs, as well.”
Voldina reached into her messenger bag, and pulled out some hand-written sheet music. She handed it to Sango, who shuffled through the papers, and, as she did so, dropped her jaw nearly hitting it on the floor. She handed the papers to Draconus, who had his head on her chest, and looked at Voldina in amazement.
“Voldina….” Sango said, looking around for a way to describe her astonishment. “That is…..absolutely astounding. I never knew that you had such talent with music!”
“Voldina…” Draconus said, sitting up straight. “Why did you never tell us? I mean, Dracana and I?”
“Dracana knows already….” Voldina said, not taking her face off of Miroku's chest. “You should know too, considering the fact that every time I come over, I sing to Nagini, and you always seem to find your way into the room.”
“Oh….hehe!” Draconus laughed, rubbing the back of his head, trying to look innocent.
“Well…now that we know that you can sing,” Kagome said, “you could start a band! I could do drums!”
“I could do bass,” Draconus offered.
“I could do guitar…” Miroku said, smiling at Voldina.
“I could do guitar…” Miroku said, smiling at Voldina.
“Me, too,” Sango said. “I could also do backup, should you need it.”
“I guess I'll play piano, then,” Voldina said, smiling a bit, her granite eyes lighting up. “I'll talk to McGanolore about having practice on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. I'll have father send us our instruments. Kagome, I shall have daddy get you a brand new drum set, considering the fact that yours is about 15 years old…”
“Thanks, Voldina!” Kagome squealed, jumping up and hugging the Dark Lord's daughter.
“I'll talk to Dracana, and see if she can get practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays for Quidditch,” Draconus said, looking over where his sister was sitting. “On match days, we'll have to have practice at night, for the band.”
“Perfect!” Kagome said, clapping her hands. “Ohhh! Pumpkin Pie!”
The desserts had appeared on the platters before them, and Kagome had dumped half of the gigantic pie onto her plate.
“Where does all that food go, Kagome?” Miroku asked, looking at the girl's tiny waist.
“Into the black hole that she calls a stomach…” a boy with short, black hair said. He wore baggy, black shorts, with a lot of chains, an over-sized Nightwish shirt, and a pair of black Vans sneakers. He had three hoops in his right ear, four in his left, one in his left eyebrow, one in his right nostril, and one in his lower lip. He had a choker chain, like a dog would have, around his neck, and dangerously spiky bracelets adorned his wrists. On his left forearm, there was a dark mark.
“Hey, Souta,” Kagome said through a mouthful of orange goo that used to be pumpkin pie.
“Hey sis,” Souta said, squishing his body onto the bench next to her.
“And it's not a black hole…” Kagome choked out, right after swallowing. “It's a bottomless pit. There's a big difference!”
“What's the difference? Everything that goes into you just disappears!” Souta said, smiling at his sister, who glared back.
“True…” Kagome finally agreed. Everyone laughed.
With Dracana:
“Dracan,” Sesshoumaru said, looking at the slender Death Eater sitting next to him.
“Huh?” Dracana said, blinking, and turning to look at him.
“Are you OK?” Sesshoumaru asked.
“Yeah, fine,” Dracana replied, obviously distracted by something.
“Students and teachers!” McGanolore said as the platters cleared themselves of the remnants of food. “I have a surprise for you this evening! One of our students is going to perform for us! Please give a loud round of applause for Dracana Bellatrix Malfoy!”
Dracana stood, removing Sesshoumaru's jacket, and walked up the front of the staff table.
“Music,” Dracana said into the microphone, looking towards McGanolore. She bobbed her head as the music started, and began to sing in a beautifully haunted voice.
“Catch me as I fall!
Say you're here and it's all over now!
Speaking to the atmosphere,
Speaking to the atmosphere,
No one's here, and I fall into myself!
This truth drives me into madness!
I know I can stop the pain if I will it all away,
This truth drives me into madness!
I know I can stop the pain if I will it all away,
If I will it all away!
Don't turn away!
Don't give into the pain!
Don't try to hide,
Don't give into the pain!
Don't try to hide,
Though they're screaming your name!
Don't close your eyes,
Don't close your eyes,
God knows what lies behind them!
Don't turn out the light,
Don't turn out the light,
Never sleep, never die!
I'm frightened by what I see,
I'm frightened by what I see,
But somehow I know that there's much more to come!
Immobilized by my fear!
Immobilized by my fear!
And soon to be, blinded by tears!
I can stop the pain if I will it all away,
I can stop the pain if I will it all away,
If I will it all away!
Don't turn away!
Don't give in to the pain!
Don't try to hide,
Though they're screaming your name!
Don't close your eyes,
Don't close your eyes,
God knows what lies behind them!
Don't turn out the light,
Don't turn out the light,
Never sleep, never die!
Fallen angels at my feet,
Fallen angels at my feet,
Whispered voices at my ear,
Death before my eyes,
Lying next to me I fear!
She beckons me shall I give in?
She beckons me shall I give in?
Before my end shall I begin?
Forsaking all I've fallen for I rise to meet my end!
Don't turn away!
Don't turn away!
Don't give in to the pain!
Don't try to hide,
Though they're screaming your name!
Don't close your eyes,
Though they're screaming your name!
Don't close your eyes,
God knows what lies behind them!
Don't turn out the light,
Don't turn out the light,
Never sleep never die!”
The Great Hall erupted in cheers and applause as Dracana bowed, putting on a fake smile. Sesshoumaru sat, stunned.
“Thank you!” Dracana said. “I'd like to bring my cousin, Voldina, and my brother, Draconus, up here! Come on!”
Draconus and Voldina stood up, and glided up to the staff table, joining their sibling. Voldina took the mic that Dracana was holding out to her.
“What's this about, sis?” Draconus asked, taking to other mic she held.
“Bring Me to Life,” Dracana replied simply.
“`Kay,” Draconus said, turning to the students.
“You doing main?” Voldina asked, looking at her cousin.
“Hai,” Dracana said, stepping in front of Draconus. “Music!”
The music began with a piano, and Dracana began in the same haunted voice as before.
“How can you see into my eyes, like open doors?
Leading you down into my core, where I become so numb!
Leading you down into my core, where I become so numb!
Without a soul,”
“Aaaaaooohhh!” Voldina sang in the same voice as Dracana, matching her perfectly.
“My spirit sleeping somewhere, cold,
Until you find it there,
And lead it back home.” Dracana sang, smiling as she moved towards Voldina, turning away at the last second.
“Wake me up!” Draconus sang, stepping forward, past the girls.
“Wake me up inside!” Dracana and voldina sang in unison, standing back to back.
“I can't wake up!” Draconus continued.
“Wake me up inside!” the girls sang.
“Save me!” Draconus sang, turning to the girls and leaning back.
“Call my name and save me from the dark!” Dracana sang, alone.
“Wake me up!” Draconus howled, shaking his head.
“Bid my blood to run!” Dracana and Voldina sang in beautifully haunted voices.
“I can't wake up!” Draconus cried, shaking his hand in a `no' gesture.
“I can't wake up!” Draconus cried, shaking his hand in a `no' gesture.
“Before I come undone!” Dracana and Voldina weaved their fingers together.
“Save me!” Draconus begged the girls.
“Save me from the nothing I've become!” Dracana sang, alone again. “Now that I know what I'm without, you can't just leave me!”
“Oooaaahhh!” Voldina sang, back to back with Draconus.
“Oooaaahhh!” Voldina sang, back to back with Draconus.
“Breath into me,” Dracana began.
“And make me real!” Voldina joined her.
“Bring me to life!” Dracana sang.
“Wake me up!” Draconus sang.
“Wake me up inside!” The girl's haunted voices harmonized perfectly.
“I can't wake up!” Draconus cried.
“Wake me up inside!” the girls sang.
“Save me!” Draconus begged.
“Call my name and save me from the dark!” Dracana sang, kneeling, then coming back up with her arm outstretched.
“Wake me up!” Draconus howled.
“Bid my blood to run!” Dracana and Voldina harmonized, mesmerizing the students and teachers alike.
“I can't wake up!” he continued.
“I can't wake up!” he continued.
“Before I come undone!” the girls laced their fingers once more.
“Save me!” Draconus begged them.
“Save me from the nothing I've become!” Dracana sang, looking at the ground away from the other two.
“Save me tonight!” Voldina sang on her own.
“I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside!” Draconus whispered.
“Bring me to life!” Voldina sang, looking at Dracana.
“Frozen inside…” Dracana sang.
“Frozen inside,” Voldina echoed.
“Without your touch, without your love,” Dracana sang, looking sad. “Darling, only you!”
“Only you!” Voldina echoed once more.
“Are the life among the dead!” Dracana sang, throwing her head back to emphasize the last word.
“All of this time, I can't believe I couldn't see,” Draconus sang. “Kept in the dark, but you were there in front of me!”
“I've been sleeping a thousand years, it seems,” Dracana sang.
“Got to open my eyes to everything!” Voldina joined her.
“Without a thought, without a soul,” Draconus said, looking at the students like he needed comfort.
“Don't let me die here!” Dracana whispered, acting as though she were pleading with Draconus.
“There must be something more!” Voldina screamed.
“Wake me up!” Draconus sang.
“Wake us up inside!” The girls sang in unison, standing back-to-back.
“I can't wake up!” Draconus sang, shaking his head, and his hand in a no gesture.
“Wake us up inside,” they harmonized.
“Save me!” Draconus begged.
“Call our names, and save us from the dark!” They sang, turning away from each other.
“Wake me up!” Draconus sang.
“Bid our blood to run,” they cried.
“I can't wake up!” Draconus howled.
“Before we come undone!” they laced their fingers once again, looking at each other sadly.
“Save me!” he begged.
“Save us tonight!” the girls harmonized one last time.
“I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside!” Draconus whispered, turning to Dracana.
“Save me tonight…..” Dracana finished the song, wrapping her arms around her body, looking like she was alone, Voldina and Draconus standing on the other side of the high rise, staring at her.
Applause rocked the Great Hall. Sesshoumaru and Naraku sat, stunned that the siblings could harmonize like that. Kagura, Yura, and Kanna cheered. Jaken was having his head squashed by Kagura's foot. Miroku, Kagome, and Sango were whistling, cheering, and applauding.
“Hey sis?” Draconus asked, looking at Dracana as he walked over to her.
“ What, Draconus?” she replied, turning to look at her twin.
“Can I sing my song?” he asked, looking hopeful.
“Sure!” Dracana said, motioning for Voldina to sit as she handed the sheet music to McGanolore. She then sat on the edge of the high rise, next to her cousin, smiling.

“I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
`Cause you gotta be bigger,
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
`Cause you gotta be bigger,
Be faster,
Be stronger,
If you're gonna survive this any longer.
This lifetime better be the right time,
`Cause your first time might be your last time!
Am I a failure,
Am I a failure,
If I've got nothing to lose?
No, I'm not a failure,
No, I'm not a failure,
I've got something to prove!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
Because I've lost my innocence,
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
Because I've lost my innocence,
And I'm a stranger,
I “life-changer”.
I'm a man that's not afraid of danger!
I walk my own path,
I walk my own path,
And blaze my own trail,
Because I'm not afraid to de-rail!
I won't get in line,
And be a middle-man,
So fuck you, I've made my own plans!
I got respect,
And I don't neglect
The people that I really care to protect!
Am I a failure,
Am I a failure,
If I've got nothing to lose?
No, I'm not a failure,
No, I'm not a failure,
I've got something to prove!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
I told you before,
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
I told you before,
I won't listen no more!
I told you before,
Let's settle the score!
If not me, then who?
If not now, then when?
If not now, then when?
If not me, then who?
If not now, then when?
If not now, then when?
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
I told you before,
The more I learn, the more I ignore!
I'm not listening, not any more!
The more I hear, the more I ignore!
I told you before,
I won't listen no more!
I told you before,
Let's settle the score!
I told you before,
I won't listen no more!
I told you before,
Let's settle the score!
Shut it out, put it down!
Blow it up, set it off!
Fuck it up, chunk it out!
Fuck it up, blow it up, right now!”
Sango stared at her boyfriend, wide-eyed, and open-mouthed as applause filled the room.
“Wow! So much talent in Slytherin!” McGanolore said, taking back the microphones from the three siblings. Dracana, Draconus, and Voldina took their seats.
“Now, it's off to bed with you all!” McGanolore cried, shooing the students with his pudgy hands. Benches scraped across the floor as everyone stood, and headed for their rooms.

Wow……that was a long chapter! I'm so proud of myself! Anywho…..please R&R! Let me know if you liked it! -smiles-
