Expanded Summary/Synapsis/Notes: In the course of browsing for
good reading material and inspiration for my own works, I came
across the gaining in popularity ‘Naruto is the Main Player in a
Video Game’ genre. A lot of the newer ones are Fusions with The
Gamer, something that I admit to not having looked at yet. The
older ones feature a lot more of a Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts
motif that don’t involve everything becoming a skill. Then the
classic Chuunin Exam Day popped into my memory. On top of all
of this was learning of Kishimoto pulling a DBZ and bringing out
a Primordial Being (Kaguya) that had pissed off another
Primordial (the Shinju).
So I had myself a brainwave, that would let me write probably
the most outlandish story ever with vast over-powering and
general stupidity . . . that I can get away with, a la
Kishimoto-style. Forget Canon. That will not exist beyond the
start of the piece –really, Canon died in the above mentioned
fic- as this is insanely AU.
Oh yeah, I’m gonna have some fun with this!
The Entertainment of Others, Part One

Naruto’s Apartment; April 7, 10 AK; 0700
Konoha was sleeping rather peacefully, a decade after the Kyuubi
attack. Birds were singing, the warm weather enticed some of
the local women to the streams and nary a cloud was in the sky.
In a certain apartment the resident had jolted awake, falling
out of his bed with a THUD before leaping to his feet.
“This is bullshit,†Naruto Uzumaki bellowed to his empty
building, stomping about in a rage. “What the fuck kind of
over-powered shit was that bitch Kaguya?! Fuck me sideways, she
made Sasuke seem normal.â& euro;
It was then that he noticed where, and by use of the calendar,
when he was.
The blond had more than one reason to be annoyed right now.
Once, some ten thousand or so lifetimes ago he had gotten
trapped in a time loop that only ended when he got promoted to
Chuunin. While that was awesome for every other skill he had
not been taught, his physical prowess had left much to be
desired. Time had been restored to a linear concept, actually
passing which as it turned out was both good and bad. Then came
the battle against Kaguya, after plowing through the Uchiha Duo
and the Shinju itself.
GAME OVER! SO SORRY!
And now he was apparently in a Video Game, which as usual meant
. . . more time loops with nobody remembering anything.
“FUCK YOU!†he roared at his refrigerator, making the ANBU
passing by outside stumble in surprise at the early morning
noise. “Goddamnit, what the hell are you talking about?!†hands
gripped the sunny blond hair, pulling for all they were worth.
“Could you fucking help-â€
The reason for his rather sudden stop was that for the first
time in a long time something new happened. A ping came from
his microwave that he hadn’t even turned on drawing his
attention to it to see what the noise was about.

The rest were greyed out for some reason, but as the immortal
time-looping Shinobi knew he would get the answers he sought at
a later time. Trying to verbally work the Help Screen did much
of nothing, so he sent a clone to test his theory that touching
the questions directly would yield results.
How do I access the Menus?
Primarily, each of the Menus are only available in your current
place of residence. As you progress through the game, if you
move they will transfer to your new home. There are hidden
areas in which the Menus become available but you must scour the
world to find them!
What are Parties?
Parties consist of either the Main Playable Character for solo
missions or groups not exceeding four per team for team
missions. While the MPC may interact with whomever at any given
time, the Non-Playable Characters will enter a holding pattern
outside of missions.
“The hell?†his eyebrows attempted to leap off of his face in
his confusion. “Wait, so does that mean I’m the Main
Character?â€
How does the Leveling System work?
Throughout the Game, the MPC and his/her Party will gain
experience via many means. Fighting, training, menial labor,
studying and various actions/discoveries grant Experience
Points. The points given vary depending on circumstances and
variables of the event. When the Level Cap is reached, a Level
Up will occur and the Cap will increase. As an example, Level
One has a maximum value of One Hundred [100] EXP, while Level
Two is two hundred [200]. The points used to Level Up reset to
zero, so Level Two would start at zero of two hundred [0/200].
There is no maximum level to be reached, so the sky’s the limit!
What are Attribute/Skill Points?
Attributes and Skills are not the same thing! The MPC have a
baseline at the start of the Game, set values that cannot be
decreased yet can be increased via Attribute Points. APs are
given on a multiplication scale versus the Level achieved. An
example of this would be reaching Level Two, the MPC would get
four [4] Points to use to increase their baseline. The formula
used will give EXPONENTIAL increases, as reaching Level Three
will grant eighteen [18] Points so on and so forth.
Skill Points, on the other hand, are applied to Learned Skills
as the Game progresses. These are primarily taught by NPCs at
set events, however the MPC may take it upon themselves to learn
as much as they can between events while time is ‘stopped’.
Unlike APs, the SPs are a set value every level of twenty [20].
SPs can also be found all over the place or by completing
certain actions so be sure to look for them!
The blond cackled evilly, rubbing his hands together in
anticipation. Oh yes, there was much fun to be had with this!
The way the system was setup gave him time to become unto Gods
themselves before even starting missions. His mental plotting
of world domination was abruptly halted when more of the
questions from the Help Menu became accessible.
Why has my Power-Leveling plan stalled?
To prevent boredom and tediousness, Missions/Events are
automatically triggered when the MPC reaches certain values in
Levels, AP or SP. Hunting a certain cat with the use of the
Hiraishin, for example, would be completely pointless and not
grant any EXP or other rewards.
What are Hacks/Cheats?
Once the Game has been played through ONCE, a new option in the
Main Menu becomes available. Hacks/Cheats are just that: ways
to make the Game either easy to the point of boredom or to alter
reality to a completely bizarre state.
What are Save Points?
Save Points are places where the MPC can save their progress so
that if a death/respawn occurs they don’t have to start
completely over from scratch. These places are scattered all
over and have to be found to be used. Obviously, if one has not
saved recently when a death/respawn event occurs they will lose
any applied points/weapons/armor to the most recent save point.
Save often to avoid this!
What are Key Items?
Keys Items are rather important to progression of the Game.
Most are simply one-of-a-kind collectibles while others can be
traded for ultra-rare Items or sold for cash. The MPC should
beware the temptation though as once a Key Item is
sold/lost/destroyed they will NOT get a replacement! Make
absolutely certain that the action is desired.
Are their alternate outfits for the MPC?
Yes there are. They have various strengths and weaknesses such
as boosting certain Attributes while at the same time penalizing
others. The clothing also has an ARMOR statistic, which is how
much damage the article can take before it is destroyed.
The MPC should look at this Menu from time to time as Secrets
are discovered!
Basic tutorial complete! Next, locate the Main Menu in Naruto’s
Apartment! [HINT: Food!]
“This thing gives hints?†the blond ten-year-old-again scratched
his head, not having seen that before. Well, the clue was
obvious enough that a complete dunderhead like his much younger
self could have figured it out.
Having barked the command at his pantry, he was unsurprised to
see the Main Menu come to life as the newer information window
closed itself which was handy. He also kept his clone around to
work the screens still being paranoid about it exploding at
random.

The first thing he did was save, regardless of how paltry it was
as he took the warning of losing any progress between Save
Points seriously. From there it was an exploration of the Sub-
Menus to see what he could or couldn’t manipulate at the moment.
CHARACTER BOOK
This Book contains information on every person, whether MPC or
NPC that the Main Player has interacted with. At first the
details are extremely vague, however as the person(s) are
interacted with or the Skills [SCAN] and [OBSERVE] are used on
the target the blanks are filled in. The application of AP or
SP is through this area.
PARTY MEMBERS
Here you can change your Party Members on the fly, regardless of
where they are or what they were doing. The switched for
Members are sent home while the newcomers are ready to battle at
a moment’s notice regardless if they were just in the bath.
This part of the Game is only available at Save Points or on the
World Map, so be certain you have who you want at your side
before starting a Mission.

INTERMIDIATE TUTORIAL COMPLETE! Next, use the Character Book to

That’s easy enough, so he wasted no time in plowing through the
madness.

Here he stopped, his jaw dropping open. It was bad enough that
his hard fought-for chakra control was gone, but so was the hard
work he had put into his mind?! He huffed for a moment before
shrugging it off, knowing that he had done it once –several
times actually- he could do it again. The fact that his skill-
set was paltry was what annoyed him the most though.

That was it. Everything he had toiled and tortured himself
through in the Loops were gone. Granted, at this point he could
take and pass the Graduation Exam. It was the fact that he was
going to have to remember then relearn what he had lost that put
him in a foul mood.
You have [450] Attribute Points and [300] Skill Points to use.
Well, that was a nice compensation. He scowled at his Control
being outside of the Attributes but let it go in favor of
balancing himself out. Really, it was no small wonder why some
of his opponents were cake while others handed him his ass with
little effort. Well, time to fix this!
With the points he had available he was able to bring all except
[VITALITY] to match his [STAMINA] at one hundred thirty five
each. The one he couldn’t was only two points less at a hundred
thirty-three so it was no real loss at this time. He straight
out dumped the full three hundred SP available into his
Kawarimi, knowing that it needed the most work at the moment as
his Advanced Henge was his turning into weapons or other random
objects. He was pleasantly surprised when his substitution
technique gained a level, giving him an idea that Level Five was
the Maximum. Really, it would just be the upper end of Level
Four but it made sense to him so he left it alone. As soon as
his clone had selected [DONE] a new window to his left appeared
demanding his attention.

MISSION LOG UPDATE
Mission One:
-Attend the Academy and learn the Skills you need to survive!
It was at this point that he figured out what had been bothering
him the most. He couldn’t feel or communicate with the others,
not even his tenant which sent him into a depressed spiral.
Hopefully they had been brought along with him and were
currently ‘locked’ otherwise being alone in this madness just
wasn’t worth it.
Well, part of the puzzle was easy enough to solve as he’d come
across three of them at the Academy. Another part, related more
towards the situation, was that he felt there should be far more
Attributes than he had for a supposed ‘game world’. Damn it
all, if he was going to suffer in yet another time-loop-esque
event he was going to do it his way!
“My basic skills are missing,†he softly spoke to himself,
having brought his own Character Book Entry back into being.
“Kami, I hope this isn’t one of those ‘everything repeated
enough times is a skill’ kind of games otherwise my farts will
become one of their own!†He grunted, having figured out that
the smallest gesture to ‘wave’ the window off closed it, making
him appreciate the subtlety all the more.
As a test of his theory, he stared at his microwave across his
kitchenette taking in every detail. The numerous dents, the
frayed wiring, the missing timer nob, the cracked glass on the
door . . .
*DING*
NEW SKILL UNLOCKED! Through studying your surroundings intently,
{OBSERVE] is now available. At its’ most basic, the Skill will
let you know who you are talking to and their level –so long
that it isn’t too high as compared to yours.

Field of Vision
ACTIVE: Cost: 5/USE; Gives more detailed information about a
single target
†œWell, that’s good to have for being a Shinobi,†he groused as
he waved the window away. This was actually a good sign as that
meant everything he could put his mind to for his chosen field
would more than likely become a Skill he could track.
No biased opinion from whatever was controlling the rules of the
Game!
Deciding to use his new skill on the fly, Naruto quickly got
dressed and stuffed his face –a new pattern, he found that took
the three minute wait time and occupied it- before gathering
what few supplies he had for the Academy. While he could read,
he had noticed that the books and scrolls he had been given were
either redacted heavily to the point of leaving one in fifty
words viewable or from a foreign village and thusly, wrong for
the application in Konoha.

â€&oelig ;Great, now I have to hurry,†he growled to nobody, stepping up
his pace.
By the time he had reached his destination, he had [OBSERVE] up

Rooftops for faster travel across town. Plus five bonus to
[STEALTH] while taking the less-traveled road.
ACTIVE: Cost: 50/USE; Gang way, I’m coming through! Plus
fifteen bonus to [SPEED] when used with [RUN]. Minus thirty-
five to [STEALTH] with all of the noise you’re gonna make.
Naruto was far too focused on his latest discovery to even
notice the people around him and their usual behavior towards
his person. Having the chance to modify his intelligence to
near where it was in the Time Loops was a bonus as it let him
make deductions and come up with appropriate conclusions about
the situation he found himself in.
“So a lot of my previous skills are locked,†he thought while
making his way to Iruka’s domain. “While it sucks that I have
to get them again, once they’re open to me they’re at a higher
level than if I had just learned it. Not an overly bad trade-
off with the basics, but some of what I had learned in the Loops
. . . is going to be difficult to learn here without any
support. Fantastic.â€
“ Naruto, what can I help you with?†the voice of Iruka Umino
broke the blond out of his thoughts. The scarred teacher had to
fight the reflex to take a step backwards when those blue eyes
that screamed of having seen too much looked at him. His shock
barely wore off as a pile of reading material was plopped rather
unceremoniously on his desk.
“I do not appreciate being sabotaged,†the blond went for the
proverbial jugular and decided to add some incentive to prevent
anything untoward in the future. “I’m sure Hokage-Jiji would be
just as amused if I let it slip in his presence what goes on in
his Academy.â€
“Ah,â&e uro; the Chuunin hemmed and hawed, completely blown away by the
attitude of the boy. Then his eyes narrowed, as the hyperactive
knucklehead wouldn’t suddenly act like this out of the blue.
No, this must be an imposter . . . but why anyone would want to
impersonate the single most hated being in the village was
beyond him. “These were perfectly fine when you were issued . .
.,†he trailed off, having grabbed a math book at random that
had been redacted and censored to the point of being useless.
“So, do I get an actual set of Academy materials or do I go get
Jiji?†he knew he was being hard on the man, and for a reason.
In the Loops it had bothered him that until he showed an
interest in something the scarred teacher had simply blown him
off. Well, not really blown as written off. Th at annoyed
Naruto the most, being stereotyped for his previous behavior.
“Fine,â&eu ro; Iruka fought the snarl, instead gritting the answer out
through his clenched teeth. “There’s no need to inform Hokage-
sama,†the way it was stressed was not lost on the blond, he
just chose to ignore it, “about an issue that has already been
fixed.â€
â€&oelig ;Good,†he watched as the pile was promptly swept into the trash
can that surprisingly could hold quite a bit. In that instant
he had gotten one of those message screens to his left –away
from Iruka.
Items Destroyed: Konoha Academy Materials (Sabotaged)
This he could work with, as it would be nice to know that
something he picked up or dropped by accident would generate the
message. As if to prove his thoughts, the message changed when
Iruka slammed a new set on his desk, his anger getting the
better of him.

and risk his mouth running away; he bowed to the man, grabbed
his new reading material and made his way to his new seat in the
back row, farthest to the right. After fighting the cellophane
wrapping he held up a history book and random and was not
disappointed.
Would you like to learn [World History, Konoha Academy Version]?
[YES] [NO]
That was a no brainer, really. Of course he wanted to learn it!
What stayed his hand for a moment was the potential loss of the
book if the game ‘destroyed’ the material in the process of
feeding it to him. Well, if it did then he would deal with it.
[YES]
He was rather pleasantly surprised when the book duplicated
itself, then he gagged as the clone crammed itself into his
mouth. He shook his head to get rid of the nauseating feeling
having a book shoved down his throat caused before blinking
owlishly.
History, as was written for the Academy, streamed through his
mind. Perfect. Although, the thought that he had something
biased crossed his mind as the version name surfaced in his
memory. After all, one man’s Hero was another’s Monster and all
that wonderful jazz.
Seeing as in how his test was successful, he quickly repeated
the process with the other materials and got a few messages for
his troubles.

the basics, [TAIJUTSU] is now available. This is your APTITUDE
for hand-to-hand fighting and not actual Skill! Base: 60

“Ooh yes~ ,†Naruto almost gave a groan of ecstasy at the various
messages he was getting. It was also nice to know that he would
have to get the skills that went with the Attributes instead of
having everything handed to him on a platter a la Sasuke. That
bonus to his Control was nice too, he had to admit.
Having another ten minutes before class started, he looked
around applying [OBSERVE] to the roiling mass of flesh that was
preteens in a Shinobi Academy. He concentrated on making their
statistics more obvious as seeing them at a glance would be all
that he might get out in the real world.
*DING*
NEW SKILL UNLOCKED! Through experimentation and willpower, the
Skill [SCAN] is now available. Know what kind of trouble to get
into and which to avoid with but a glance!

PASSIVE: Cost: Zero; Displays [HIT POINTS] and [CHAKRA POINTS]
of everybody within the Field of Vision.
ACTIVE: Cost: 50/USE; Displays [HP], [CP], [ARMOR] and [STATUS
EFFECT] of a single target, provided they are within a certain
level of yours.
Excellent.
That was exactly what he had been looking for, even as he
continued to scrutinize the classroom looking for anything out
of place that only he could see. He was starting to get antsy
for a [SAVE POINT], just in case his grouchy attitude caused
something new to happen from what he remembered of this
particular day. Well, what he thought he remembered from
however long ago it was.
Speaking of, something felt off to the blond before wanting to
face-palm at his own stupidity. He was going to have to
intentionally fail the next two Graduation Exams just to get
back into the class with the Heirs. As the class settled down
his memory supplied the names to go with the faces.
He was in a room full of Civilian-born! Damn it, no wonder he
was out of sync with the rest of the world. He’d let thoughts
of the others wedge itself into his mind and glossed over the
fact that he wasn’t even part of their class until he was
twelve.
Hell, he hadn’t even heard of Kurenai Yuhi until Team Assignment
Day the first time through. Oh, this blows!
Two Years Later
IRUKA UMINO

[STATUS] Teacher at Konoha Academy, Fifty percent bonus to
learning new skills.
“Settle down,†the scarred Instructor barked at the rowdy class
of Heirs, taking note of his newest class.
The young Hyuuga was an island unto herself, having nobody on
either side of her in the back row left hand side by her own
volition. Sasuke Uchiha was being as anti-social as ever, even
with Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka virtually hanging off of his
person. Shikamaru Nara had already fallen asleep while Chouji
Akamichi wolfed down his eighth bag of chips. Kiba Inuzuka was
flexing his muscles, posing for the girls and promptly being
ignored. Shino Aburame sat stoically, seemingly staring at
nothing.
“We have a student transferring in,†Iruka had the attention of
the room without shouting, seeing as it was still rather early
and the kids weren’t quite awake yet. “Come in Naruto.â€
The door barely made a noise as the once-loud blond opened it,
stepped into a domain he knew all too well and closed it. While
on the outside he was presenting a calm façade on the inside he
was about jumping for joy.
Finally, he was where he belonged. His eyes lit up a bit more
at seeing Ino and Hinata go into complete stillness, heads
dropping into their respective hands as their locked
personalities from the Time Loops asserted themselves.

Yep, that looked about right. The same thing had happened when
he had first –for this life, anyway- laid his eyes on Tenten.
The bun-haired girl had cornered the blond demanding an
explanation for the rush of memories that had given her a
migraine. He had complied with just enough to satisfy her but
until he had the others aware he hadn’t divulged the entire
truth.
“Pick a seat Naruto,†Iruka had noticed the two girls seemingly
getting a headache from nowhere but unless they complained there
was little he could do. This was a Shinobi Academy after all
where one had to learn to deal with pain. The children wouldn’t
understand how to cope if they were coddled, which would lead to
death in the world as it was.
The blond nodded, giving a bow deep enough to be polite before
making his way up to where Hinata was. He parked himself to her
left taking the center seat for the table and was unsurprised
when Ino suddenly appeared in the leftmost chair.
Four hours later; Academy Grounds
“Oof!†Naruto sharply exhaled from the punch to the solar plexus
courtesy of Ino who did not look happy at all. That was also
par for the course as Tenten had done the same thing the year
previous.
Once he recovered, he filled in what blanks he could for the
pair that were giving him the doe-eyes demanding answers. That
weakness he was happy to keep as it kept him grounded to the
rather strange reality he had found himself in.
“Not more of this stuck in time shit!†the blond female cursed,
punting a stone that flew across the grounds to plink off of the
back of Sasuke’s head.
“That was my reaction when I first woke two years ago,†Naruto
knew his heart was on his sleeve and that the two would get his
unspoken meaning. His greatest fear was being alone again after
having spent literal lifetimes developing bonds. “I haven’t
repeated anything yet due to not having done anything overly
dangerous. While this is good for being in the Academy, once we
graduate and start going out into the world . . . well, we
know.â€
â€&oe lig;Yes, we do,†Hinata whispered, not wanting to revisit her
brushes with death.
“Ah, but we have opportunities not afforded in the Time Loops,â€
he sensed her mood and went for the positives to lighten it.
“Granted we have to reacquire our skills, but now there is no
limit to what we can do. This Game or whatever mayhem it is
will let us get far stronger than we were. With the Save Points
there will be none of that starting over from scratch every
death thing either. All we have to do is be careful with our
choices so as not to skew the timeline that we know too much.â€
He left out the first time through as he had a hunch that
getting out of the Game was going to be near impossible. That
little tidbit would be for later when everybody was awakened.
“So how does this work?†Ino let her curiosity override her
indignation as it was more productive. “I mean, you say you can
track your strengths and weaknesses but . . . how?â€
He hadn’t tried it near the tree the three were under, but now
that it was brought to his attention he called for the Main
Menu. Sure enough it worked, prompting a message about finding
a [SAVE POINT] at the same time. When the girls said they
couldn’t see anything he just read from his own sheet.

“Aw damn it, I knew I forgot something!†Naruto face-palmed at
not remembering to allocate his points leading to being
imbalanced again. He pitched his idea to be as balanced as
possible so that no one enemy could overwhelm him in the field
he was weakest in. Ino and Hinata, still trying to digest the
information dump they had just received, thought it was a good
idea as being balanced would give him options for surviving what
awaited in a few years.
“And that’s Gennin Level?†the blond female abruptly sat down so
as not to fall on her face. “That Kaguya chick must be just
outrageous then.â€
“Well yeah, what with having the Eye of the Shinju and whatnot,â€
he deadpanned, trying to work out the math on the Attribute
Points so as not to leave something lacking. “Right, here we
go,†announced his rereading of his entry.

“Yes, that should work,†Hinata’s quiet voice broke the
momentary silence between the three as they interpreted what the
numbers meant.
“Why does this . . . Game . . . give such low Skill Points?†Ino
complained, not quite understanding the Leveling System.
“Because the Skills you can train,†Naruto answered his blond
counterpart calmly. “This way you don’t just get to pull a
Shikamaru and do nothing while getting powers better than
Kaguya. After all, what’s the point of having Phenomenal Cosmic
Powers without knowing how to use them?â€
“TouchÃ&c opy;,†she bobbed her head in a nod, agreeing with that
statement. It did not go unnoticed that she did not defend her
childhood friend as there was nothing untruthful about the
comparison.
“On ce the others are awakened we can hash out our next move,â€
Naruto waved away the translucent windows only he could see.
“In the meantime, I’m going to train myself into the ground
while waiting for the Graduation Exam to come around. I think
I’m nearing the Cap that the Game mentioned about automatically
forcing Missions. My first one will be solo, I remember that
much from originally learning the Kage Bunshin . . . what, a few
hundred millennia or so ago?â€
His attempt at a joke earned him a gentle bop one the head, even
if the girls were somewhat smiling.
“Hey,†Ino had a sudden thought about a pink-haired girl. “How
come Sakura hasn’t ‘awakened’ like we have?â€
“My theory,†he answered promptly, having been thinking about it
himself, “is that we never got around to making her a full
member of . . . of . . . our family. Huh, odd that I can’t say
the name. It must be one of those ‘locked secret’ things.
Anyway, those few that I never marked were apparently written
out by the Game.†Another thought struck him. “Damn it, now I’m
going to have to make special trips to hunt down the others
outside of Konoha.â€
“Shouldnâ ;€™t be too hard if you spam out your . . . the . . .
clones,†Hinata tried to name a technique he had developed and
was stymied.
“Fantastic, more control training,†Naruto groused having caught
that the skill was apparently still locked. “Right, nothing to
it but to do it.â€
Eight Months Later; Graduation Exam Day; 0600
Naruto woke feeling rather perky, absentmindedly waving away a
window about his health and chakra points being restored.
Really, those windows were down right annoying yet easy to
ignore once he had gotten used to their presence.
He had come far in the time since joining the Class of Heirs as
it was nicknamed by Ino. So far, in fact, that he had to pause
his training as he had gotten a red-tinted notice a couple
months ago.
WARNING! YOU HAVE REACHED AUTO-MISSION START POINT! DO YOU WISH
TO LEVEL AND START NEXT MISSION? [YES] [NO]
Well, that was a no brainer as far as he was concerned. To
avoid any weird feelings of fast-forwarding time he had selected
[NO] before rushing off to find those in Konoha.
Hinata had struck pay-dirt with her ‘Spamming Clones’ idea.
Knowing where those outside of the village were likely to be at
this time had cut his searching down, letting him find and
awaken them. He had also unlocked many of his previous skills
and gotten his control up where Ebisu would claim ‘Average,
Barely’ for the amount of chakra he had.
Those inside the village had been child’s play as Hinata passed
word to Kurenai who told Anko, Yugao and Hana that he was
seeking them out for something ‘ultra-important vital to their
future’.
Minus the two in the current employ of Orochimaru, the band was
back together again.
Part of what had triggered the warning message was meeting with
and regaining skills from Tsunade. Naruto had no idea that
relearning the Medical Arts would cause his level to skyrocket
as he got more and more practice in.
One could imagine the surprise Hiruzen Sarutobi felt when his
wayward Kunoichi student literally kicked his door down to
announce her presence in the village again.
Now it was the Graduation Exam and the confrontation with Mizuki
afterwards. Naruto had woken at his usual time on the dot,
before getting dressed and leaving his ratty apartment for one
of the places he had not frequented as much recently.
Ichiraku’s Ramen.
“Ayame-chan!†he bellowed far too loud for seven in the morning.
“Load me up please!â€
The daughter of Teuchi had not been amused to find herself in a
Time-Loop again, one that was even stranger than the last. Her
anger had crumbled, just like the others, when the blond boy
pouted outrageously proclaiming that it wasn’t his fault this
time. It was impossible to stay mad at that face nor the words
he spoke.
In a blur of arms that surprised her father, Ayame had five
bowls of Ramen loaded down with meats, vegetables and several
vitamin pills crushed into powder ready in ten seconds. All
three understood the extra ingredients as what the general
populace of the village refused to sell the blond.
It was rather amazing that five bowls could fill the bottomless
pit, but as they were far more than empty calories and salt it
was understandable.
“Step one, right Naruto?†the brunette leaned over the counter
to hug the teenager in what looked like a platonic manner to
fool her father.
“Yep,†the blond Uzumaki replied, returning the gesture and
understanding why the subtlety was needed. He wasn’t about to
incur the fatherly wrath watching them. “I’ll send word about
when and where as I learn about it.â€
That was his Code-Speak for letting her know that once Mizuki
had approached him with the details of the heist-that-wasn’t he
would inform the others so they could back him up if things went
wrong.
Forget this silly Game! He was not about to do things on his
own again, when he had a support structure this time around.
Time to go to work.
Konoha Academy; Iruka’s Domain; 0800
Roll had been called and the pieces were in place. The mask
came off now to reveal what Naruto could actually do.
Well, that was a misnomer. The boy wasn’t the Dobe for a
change, having sat down with Ino and Hinata to work out a method
to get each other on a team together. None of them wanted much
of anything to do with Sasuke as they had tortured the boy
enough in the original Time-Loops. All that mattered was
avoiding the Uchiha and Kakashi waiting in the wings to ‘train’
the boy.
Naruto took a moment to look around the room, before his eyes
fell on Kiba. It had crushed the entire group to learn that
those with ‘shelters’ in their minds had also been bumped out of
the Game. From what they could puzzle together it was the
primary one in Naruto’s mind that had awoken those he had fully
brought into his new family. They were hopeful that the skills
associated with bringing in others would unlock allowing them to
get the other males back in the know.
“Focus class,†Iruka brought the introspection to a halt as
Mizuki handed out the written tests. He didn’t bother with a
different one for the blond as it was assumed the kid couldn’t
even read, which sabotaged himself rather than an external force
and thus avoided the ire of the Hokage.
The man had no idea about the confrontation between Iruka and
Naruto almost three years previous, giving away that the hidden
Jinchuuriki was far more talented than he seemed.
“The rules for this test are simple,†the scarred man continued.
“No talking. No cheating. Those caught doing so automatically
fail the entire Exam. Once you are done, flip your tests over.
You have two hours to complete as many questions as you can.
You may begin.â€
Not a half an hour later three sets of paper could be heard
being turned over, earning raised eyebrows from the Senseis who
gestured them down to Iruka’s desk.
†œGo wait at the Taijutsu Ring please,†the brunette nearly
whispered, being quiet so as not to disturb the other test
takers. He struggled to hide a twitch as Naruto, Ino and Hinata
carefully made their way out of the room being just as quiet.
Quickly glancing at their tests revealed just enough differences
to rule out cheating, which had a bonus score as that meant
Gennin-level information gathering and subterfuge to avoid being
caught.
“That was gravy,†Ino sprawled on the grass under the shade of
one of the trees while the other two sat down with more dignity.
Well, Hinata did at any rate. Naruto simply slowed his descent
to the ground so as not to flop bonelessly.
“With everything we’d learned in the Loops that should have been
a piece of cake,†Hinata relaxed against the tree trunk. “After
tonight we should have access to our better skills once . . .
part of the story is told to Naruto.â€
She had changed her sentence mid-speech as suddenly Shikamaru
Nara was there, managing to look lazy, bored, sleepy and
intensely focused at the same time. He didn’t say a word as he
lay down in the grass, giving the impression that he was cloud
watching and on the verge of taking a nap.
The trio were not fooled in the least. They knew he was
feigning disinterest in the hopes they would assume he wasn’t
paying attention and thus say more than they should. Really, if
they didn’t know his character so well his attempt at espionage
would have gone much better. Of course now they couldn’t talk
freely, instead choosing to enjoy each other’s company.
â€&oeli g;Before I forget,†Naruto was starting to doze off in the shade
as the morning was nice and cool, “I did prompt Jiji, so we have
our meeting place.â€
It would be found out soon enough that he was talking about the
old Uchiha District, which the blond had learned -many lifetimes
ago- how to get the Hokage to cough it up for free. He had
phrased it just so to keep some of the mystery surrounding them
going as they knew they frustrated people like Shikamaru who
hated puzzles.
“WAKE UP!†bellowed Iruka, snapping the three out of their very
nice nap rudely. The rest of the class was snickering at the
three, the girls having rolled in the direction of Naruto to
snuggle him. Shikamaru had somehow rolled into a bush and was
cursing quietly as he attempted to extract himself before waving
Chouji over for some assistance.
Said teacher had hit the turf as a kunai whizzed by where his
head had been, thrown with surprising accuracy and power from
somebody that was going from sleep to wakefulness, forget it
being from an Academy Student.
ITEM LOST: [1] Academy Kunai
“Damn it,†Naruto grumbled, subtlety waving away the notice
about his weapon. “Don’t do that Sensei!†He covered his
actions nicely, diverting any suspicions to the fact that he was
being forced awake.
“Moving on . . .,†Iruka ignored the blond as he was wont to do
whenever things started getting weird around him, getting the
Taijutsu testing done. Naturally in the course of events the
brunette went against the Uchiha leaving Mizuki to the Uzumaki.
Well, this guy was a traitor in every sense of the word. Ino
and Hinata had asked about one of his fighting styles and it was
ready enough for a debut while not being good enough to utterly
destroy the man.
“Hajime!â€
Those watching were floored as Naruto went into motion, a few
copies of himself briefly spawning from his body in various
places multiplying the number of limbs heading in the Assistant
Instructor’s direction. More than once did a clone use another
as a bludgeon, pancaking the light-blue haired man into the
ground before both disappeared with a wisp of smoke. As a
finisher -highly unnecessary as the soon to be revealed traitor
was already unconscious but Iruka was too busy to stop the
match- numerous clones began punching and kicking the man
airborne before stacking on each other like a ladder. This was
so the Original and four hundred ninety-nine copies could race
to the top to deliver a One Thousand Hit Combo with their fists.
Mizuki made a nice crater when he finally came down at just
short of terminal velocity, drawing the attention of Iruka at
last.
“What the-?!†he rushed to the site of the rough landing,
checking his friend to insure he was still alive. He was, and
wasn’t actually in that bad of shape for being manhandled in
such a severe manner. By the time he looked up the clones were
gone as was the smoke they left behind, leaving Naruto with a
raised left eyebrow.
“So, did I pass this test?†he nonchalantly asked while ignoring
the gawking class around him.
“Yeah, this is a Flawless Victory,†the scarred man had to hand
it to one of his favorite people. He had been flashy just for
the test while not actually doing much intentional damage and at
the same time gave his opponent no time to counterattack.
Exactly what the test called for. He was so stunned that he
managed to forget the Kage Bunshin being used.
“That was . . . awesome!†Ino was beside herself in glee, having
never thought of that move before. She’d expressed her opinion
once her fellow blond had appeared between herself and Hinata.
“Just wait until we get the improved versions again,†he kept
his voice low, not bothering to hide his smugness at handing the
guy his ass on a platter.
From there, after the Yamanaka had her go, it was on to the
Ninjutsu portion. Mizuki had been patched up in the meantime,
laying in wait for Naruto’s turn.
Since he had managed to get good enough control for a chakra
intensive technique, he managed to fool the pair by performing
the hand-signs for the Bunshin while at the same time bringing
forth his favorite technique in the Kage Bunshin.
He even had them move in sync with him to sell that they were
‘illusions’. Sure enough, much to the ire of Mizuki by the look
in his eyes, the duo bought it and had little choice but to
graduate him.
The world paused as Naruto expected it to by this point.

He wasn’t going to accept it just yet as he still needed the
details from Mizuki so as to put the traitor away for good. He
was glad his control had moved into Attributes as that would
give him the ability to ‘perfect’ it much faster opening up a
whole new world of techniques for him.
After Ino passed her test, he walked the pair of girls to the
doors to send them on their way with their families. He’d be
seeing them soon enough, having given the whole aware group
clones masquerading as a necklace.
Sitting on the swing, he didn’t have to wait long for Mizuki to
make his move. Instead of a promotion to Gennin which he had
already earned it was a promise of fast-tracking the blond onto
the Chuunin list. Fairly standard hogwash that Naruto paid no
attention to.

There was no way to avoid it now, so he selected his only choice
before rushing off to his apartment. Now that the Major Event
had been triggered it was time to save and distribute some
points he had accumulated. A clone was there and gone so fast
not even the Hokage, who was watching the rather odd scene via
his crystal ball, had noticed it.

Holy crap his stats had gotten all sorts of crazy holding back
on the Leveling. This was going to take a while to fix,
especially with his control now being modifiable. He also
noticed that his LUCK attribute had gained a symbol instead of a
digit. He assumed, correctly, that it meant no matter how much
he pumped into his other attributes it would always be pegged at
full for the number of digits in another. Still, he had an ass-
ton of points to use and not much time to do it.

He frowned at his Genjutsu Attribute, knowing why it took
forever for it to gain points. This was as close to being
balanced as he could get before dumping the Skill Points across
the two skills that needed them, bringing them even with his
self-created fighting style. Holy Log this was far more trouble
than it was worth.
Another thing that bothered Naruto was that his new skill
creation had slowed to a crawl. Apparently he had to be
introduced to a concept first, be it by book or by mouth, before
he could get any skills in that department.

The opening note says it all. Besides, with the way Kishimoto
made everybody and their Summons just short of being a God I
figured “why not stay in that vein, but actually account for the
growth?â€. It makes the battle with Kaguya a bit more believable
if the reader has quantifiable data in front of their face over
a vague time-skip Power Up.
Ah, yes. Perfect Lionheart has disappeared from the fanfiction
community. I actually reread Chuunin Exam Day while I was
creating this for inspiration and the references I make point
directly to that story . . . that hasn’t been touched in
forever.
Once you get through his need for detail there’s a great fic in
there! Too bad it remains unfinished . . .
Anyway, if I get a message of some type from him saying to flush
this I will. However, I’m hoping he won’t as this goes in a new
direction from where he was.

Expanded Summary/Synapsis/Notes: In the course of browsing for
good reading material and inspiration for my own works, I came
across the gaining in popularity ‘Naruto is the Main Player in a
Video Game’ genre. A lot of the newer ones are Fusions with The
Gamer, something that I admit to not having looked at yet. The
older ones feature a lot more of a Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts
motif that don’t involve everything becoming a skill. Then the
classic Chuunin Exam Day popped into my memory. On top of all
of this was learning of Kishimoto pulling a DBZ and bringing out
a Primordial Being (Kaguya) that had pissed off another
Primordial (the Shinju).
So I had myself a brainwave, that would let me write probably
the most outlandish story ever with vast over-powering and
general stupidity . . . that I can get away with, a la
Kishimoto-style. Forget Canon. That will not exist beyond the
start of the piece –really, Canon died in the above mentioned
fic- as this is insanely AU.

The Entertainment of Others, Part One

Naruto’s Apartment; April 7, 10 AK; 0700
Konoha was sleeping rather peacefully, a decade after the Kyuubi
attack. Birds were singing, the warm weather enticed some of
the local women to the streams and nary a cloud was in the sky.
In a certain apartment the resident had jolted awake, falling
out of his bed with a THUD before leaping to his feet.
“This is bullshit,†Naruto Uzumaki bellowed to his empty
building, stomping about in a rage. “What the fuck kind of
over-powered shit was that bitch Kaguya?! Fuck me sideways, she
made Sasuke seem normal.â& euro;
It was then that he noticed where, and by use of the calendar,
when he was.
The blond had more than one reason to be annoyed right now.
Once, some ten thousand or so lifetimes ago he had gotten
trapped in a time loop that only ended when he got promoted to
Chuunin. While that was awesome for every other skill he had
not been taught, his physical prowess had left much to be
desired. Time had been restored to a linear concept, actually
passing which as it turned out was both good and bad. Then came
the battle against Kaguya, after plowing through the Uchiha Duo
and the Shinju itself.
GAME OVER! SO SORRY!
And now he was apparently in a Video Game, which as usual meant
. . . more time loops with nobody remembering anything.
“FUCK YOU!†he roared at his refrigerator, making the ANBU
passing by outside stumble in surprise at the early morning
noise. “Goddamnit, what the hell are you talking about?!†hands
gripped the sunny blond hair, pulling for all they were worth.
“Could you fucking help-â€
The reason for his rather sudden stop was that for the first
time in a long time something new happened. A ping came from
his microwave that he hadn’t even turned on drawing his
attention to it to see what the noise was about.

The rest were greyed out for some reason, but as the immortal
time-looping Shinobi knew he would get the answers he sought at
a later time. Trying to verbally work the Help Screen did much
of nothing, so he sent a clone to test his theory that touching
the questions directly would yield results.
How do I access the Menus?
Primarily, each of the Menus are only available in your current
place of residence. As you progress through the game, if you
move they will transfer to your new home. There are hidden
areas in which the Menus become available but you must scour the
world to find them!
What are Parties?
Parties consist of either the Main Playable Character for solo
missions or groups not exceeding four per team for team
missions. While the MPC may interact with whomever at any given
time, the Non-Playable Characters will enter a holding pattern
outside of missions.
“The hell?†his eyebrows attempted to leap off of his face in
his confusion. “Wait, so does that mean I’m the Main
Character?â€
How does the Leveling System work?
Throughout the Game, the MPC and his/her Party will gain
experience via many means. Fighting, training, menial labor,
studying and various actions/discoveries grant Experience
Points. The points given vary depending on circumstances and
variables of the event. When the Level Cap is reached, a Level
Up will occur and the Cap will increase. As an example, Level
One has a maximum value of One Hundred [100] EXP, while Level
Two is two hundred [200]. The points used to Level Up reset to
zero, so Level Two would start at zero of two hundred [0/200].
There is no maximum level to be reached, so the sky’s the limit!
What are Attribute/Skill Points?
Attributes and Skills are not the same thing! The MPC have a
baseline at the start of the Game, set values that cannot be
decreased yet can be increased via Attribute Points. APs are
given on a multiplication scale versus the Level achieved. An
example of this would be reaching Level Two, the MPC would get
four [4] Points to use to increase their baseline. The formula
used will give EXPONENTIAL increases, as reaching Level Three
will grant eighteen [18] Points so on and so forth.
Skill Points, on the other hand, are applied to Learned Skills
as the Game progresses. These are primarily taught by NPCs at
set events, however the MPC may take it upon themselves to learn
as much as they can between events while time is ‘stopped’.
Unlike APs, the SPs are a set value every level of twenty [20].
SPs can also be found all over the place or by completing
certain actions so be sure to look for them!
The blond cackled evilly, rubbing his hands together in
anticipation. Oh yes, there was much fun to be had with this!
The way the system was setup gave him time to become unto Gods
themselves before even starting missions. His mental plotting
of world domination was abruptly halted when more of the
questions from the Help Menu became accessible.
Why has my Power-Leveling plan stalled?
To prevent boredom and tediousness, Missions/Events are
automatically triggered when the MPC reaches certain values in
Levels, AP or SP. Hunting a certain cat with the use of the
Hiraishin, for example, would be completely pointless and not
grant any EXP or other rewards.
What are Hacks/Cheats?
Once the Game has been played through ONCE, a new option in the
Main Menu becomes available. Hacks/Cheats are just that: ways
to make the Game either easy to the point of boredom or to alter
reality to a completely bizarre state.
What are Save Points?
Save Points are places where the MPC can save their progress so
that if a death/respawn occurs they don’t have to start
completely over from scratch. These places are scattered all
over and have to be found to be used. Obviously, if one has not
saved recently when a death/respawn event occurs they will lose
any applied points/weapons/armor to the most recent save point.
Save often to avoid this!
What are Key Items?
Keys Items are rather important to progression of the Game.
Most are simply one-of-a-kind collectibles while others can be
traded for ultra-rare Items or sold for cash. The MPC should
beware the temptation though as once a Key Item is
sold/lost/destroyed they will NOT get a replacement! Make
absolutely certain that the action is desired.
Are their alternate outfits for the MPC?
Yes there are. They have various strengths and weaknesses such
as boosting certain Attributes while at the same time penalizing
others. The clothing also has an ARMOR statistic, which is how
much damage the article can take before it is destroyed.
The MPC should look at this Menu from time to time as Secrets
are discovered!
Basic tutorial complete! Next, locate the Main Menu in Naruto’s

“This thing gives hints?†the blond ten-year-old-again scratched
his head, not having seen that before. Well, the clue was
obvious enough that a complete dunderhead like his much younger
self could have figured it out.
Having barked the command at his pantry, he was unsurprised to
see the Main Menu come to life as the newer information window
closed itself which was handy. He also kept his clone around to
work the screens still being paranoid about it exploding at
random.

The first thing he did was save, regardless of how paltry it was
as he took the warning of losing any progress between Save
Points seriously. From there it was an exploration of the Sub-
Menus to see what he could or couldn’t manipulate at the moment.
CHARACTER BOOK
This Book contains information on every person, whether MPC or
NPC that the Main Player has interacted with. At first the
details are extremely vague, however as the person(s) are
interacted with or the Skills [SCAN] and [OBSERVE] are used on
the target the blanks are filled in. The application of AP or
SP is through this area.
PARTY MEMBERS
Here you can change your Party Members on the fly, regardless of
where they are or what they were doing. The switched for
Members are sent home while the newcomers are ready to battle at
a moment’s notice regardless if they were just in the bath.
This part of the Game is only available at Save Points or on the
World Map, so be certain you have who you want at your side
before starting a Mission.

Here he stopped, his jaw dropping open. It was bad enough that
his hard fought-for chakra control was gone, but so was the hard
work he had put into his mind?! He huffed for a moment before
shrugging it off, knowing that he had done it once –several
times actually- he could do it again. The fact that his skill-
set was paltry was what annoyed him the most though.

That was it. Everything he had toiled and tortured himself
through in the Loops were gone. Granted, at this point he could
take and pass the Graduation Exam. It was the fact that he was
going to have to remember then relearn what he had lost that put
him in a foul mood.

Well, that was a nice compensation. He scowled at his Control
being outside of the Attributes but let it go in favor of
balancing himself out. Really, it was no small wonder why some
of his opponents were cake while others handed him his ass with
little effort. Well, time to fix this!
With the points he had available he was able to bring all except
[VITALITY] to match his [STAMINA] at one hundred thirty five
each. The one he couldn’t was only two points less at a hundred
thirty-three so it was no real loss at this time. He straight
out dumped the full three hundred SP available into his
Kawarimi, knowing that it needed the most work at the moment as
his Advanced Henge was his turning into weapons or other random
objects. He was pleasantly surprised when his substitution
technique gained a level, giving him an idea that Level Five was
the Maximum. Really, it would just be the upper end of Level
Four but it made sense to him so he left it alone. As soon as
his clone had selected [DONE] a new window to his left appeared
demanding his attention.

It was at this point that he figured out what had been bothering
him the most. He couldn’t feel or communicate with the others,
not even his tenant which sent him into a depressed spiral.
Hopefully they had been brought along with him and were
currently ‘locked’ otherwise being alone in this madness just
wasn’t worth it.
Well, part of the puzzle was easy enough to solve as he’d come
across three of them at the Academy. Another part, related more
towards the situation, was that he felt there should be far more
Attributes than he had for a supposed ‘game world’. Damn it
all, if he was going to suffer in yet another time-loop-esque
event he was going to do it his way!
“My basic skills are missing,†he softly spoke to himself,
having brought his own Character Book Entry back into being.
“Kami, I hope this isn’t one of those ‘everything repeated
enough times is a skill’ kind of games otherwise my farts will
become one of their own!†He grunted, having figured out that
the smallest gesture to ‘wave’ the window off closed it, making
him appreciate the subtlety all the more.
As a test of his theory, he stared at his microwave across his
kitchenette taking in every detail. The numerous dents, the
frayed wiring, the missing timer nob, the cracked glass on the
door . . .

let you know who you are talking to and their level –so long
that it isn’t too high as compared to yours.

†œWell, that’s good to have for being a Shinobi,†he groused as
he waved the window away. This was actually a good sign as that
meant everything he could put his mind to for his chosen field
would more than likely become a Skill he could track.
No biased opinion from whatever was controlling the rules of the
Game!
Deciding to use his new skill on the fly, Naruto quickly got
dressed and stuffed his face –a new pattern, he found that took
the three minute wait time and occupied it- before gathering
what few supplies he had for the Academy. While he could read,
he had noticed that the books and scrolls he had been given were
either redacted heavily to the point of leaving one in fifty
words viewable or from a foreign village and thusly, wrong for
the application in Konoha.

Naruto was far too focused on his latest discovery to even
notice the people around him and their usual behavior towards
his person. Having the chance to modify his intelligence to
near where it was in the Time Loops was a bonus as it let him
make deductions and come up with appropriate conclusions about
the situation he found himself in.
“So a lot of my previous skills are locked,†he thought while
making his way to Iruka’s domain. “While it sucks that I have
to get them again, once they’re open to me they’re at a higher
level than if I had just learned it. Not an overly bad trade-
off with the basics, but some of what I had learned in the Loops
. . . is going to be difficult to learn here without any
support. Fantastic.â€
“ Naruto, what can I help you with?†the voice of Iruka Umino
broke the blond out of his thoughts. The scarred teacher had to
fight the reflex to take a step backwards when those blue eyes
that screamed of having seen too much looked at him. His shock
barely wore off as a pile of reading material was plopped rather
unceremoniously on his desk.
“I do not appreciate being sabotaged,†the blond went for the
proverbial jugular and decided to add some incentive to prevent
anything untoward in the future. “I’m sure Hokage-Jiji would be
just as amused if I let it slip in his presence what goes on in
his Academy.â€
“Ah,â&e uro; the Chuunin hemmed and hawed, completely blown away by the
attitude of the boy. Then his eyes narrowed, as the hyperactive
knucklehead wouldn’t suddenly act like this out of the blue.
No, this must be an imposter . . . but why anyone would want to
impersonate the single most hated being in the village was
beyond him. “These were perfectly fine when you were issued . .
.,†he trailed off, having grabbed a math book at random that
had been redacted and censored to the point of being useless.
“So, do I get an actual set of Academy materials or do I go get
Jiji?†he knew he was being hard on the man, and for a reason.
In the Loops it had bothered him that until he showed an
interest in something the scarred teacher had simply blown him
off. Well, not really blown as written off. Th at annoyed
Naruto the most, being stereotyped for his previous behavior.
“Fine,â&eu ro; Iruka fought the snarl, instead gritting the answer out
through his clenched teeth. “There’s no need to inform Hokage-
sama,†the way it was stressed was not lost on the blond, he
just chose to ignore it, “about an issue that has already been
fixed.â€
â€&oelig ;Good,†he watched as the pile was promptly swept into the trash
can that surprisingly could hold quite a bit. In that instant
he had gotten one of those message screens to his left –away
from Iruka.

This he could work with, as it would be nice to know that
something he picked up or dropped by accident would generate the
message. As if to prove his thoughts, the message changed when
Iruka slammed a new set on his desk, his anger getting the
better of him.

wrapping he held up a history book and random and was not
disappointed.

That was a no brainer, really. Of course he wanted to learn it!
What stayed his hand for a moment was the potential loss of the
book if the game ‘destroyed’ the material in the process of
feeding it to him. Well, if it did then he would deal with it.

He was rather pleasantly surprised when the book duplicated
itself, then he gagged as the clone crammed itself into his
mouth. He shook his head to get rid of the nauseating feeling
having a book shoved down his throat caused before blinking
owlishly.
History, as was written for the Academy, streamed through his
mind. Perfect. Although, the thought that he had something
biased crossed his mind as the version name surfaced in his
memory. After all, one man’s Hero was another’s Monster and all
that wonderful jazz.
Seeing as in how his test was successful, he quickly repeated
the process with the other materials and got a few messages for
his troubles.

messages he was getting. It was also nice to know that he would
have to get the skills that went with the Attributes instead of
having everything handed to him on a platter a la Sasuke. That
bonus to his Control was nice too, he had to admit.
Having another ten minutes before class started, he looked
around applying [OBSERVE] to the roiling mass of flesh that was
preteens in a Shinobi Academy. He concentrated on making their
statistics more obvious as seeing them at a glance would be all
that he might get out in the real world.

Excellent.
That was exactly what he had been looking for, even as he
continued to scrutinize the classroom looking for anything out
of place that only he could see. He was starting to get antsy
for a [SAVE POINT], just in case his grouchy attitude caused
something new to happen from what he remembered of this
particular day. Well, what he thought he remembered from
however long ago it was.
Speaking of, something felt off to the blond before wanting to
face-palm at his own stupidity. He was going to have to
intentionally fail the next two Graduation Exams just to get
back into the class with the Heirs. As the class settled down
his memory supplied the names to go with the faces.
He was in a room full of Civilian-born! Damn it, no wonder he
was out of sync with the rest of the world. He’d let thoughts
of the others wedge itself into his mind and glossed over the
fact that he wasn’t even part of their class until he was
twelve.
Hell, he hadn’t even heard of Kurenai Yuhi until Team Assignment
Day the first time through. Oh, this blows!
Two Years Later

“Settle down,†the scarred Instructor barked at the rowdy class
of Heirs, taking note of his newest class.
The young Hyuuga was an island unto herself, having nobody on
either side of her in the back row left hand side by her own
volition. Sasuke Uchiha was being as anti-social as ever, even
with Sakura Haruno and Ino Yamanaka virtually hanging off of his
person. Shikamaru Nara had already fallen asleep while Chouji
Akamichi wolfed down his eighth bag of chips. Kiba Inuzuka was
flexing his muscles, posing for the girls and promptly being
ignored. Shino Aburame sat stoically, seemingly staring at
nothing.
“We have a student transferring in,†Iruka had the attention of
the room without shouting, seeing as it was still rather early
and the kids weren’t quite awake yet. “Come in Naruto.â€
The door barely made a noise as the once-loud blond opened it,
stepped into a domain he knew all too well and closed it. While
on the outside he was presenting a calm façade on the inside he
was about jumping for joy.
Finally, he was where he belonged. His eyes lit up a bit more
at seeing Ino and Hinata go into complete stillness, heads
dropping into their respective hands as their locked
personalities from the Time Loops asserted themselves.

Yep, that looked about right. The same thing had happened when
he had first –for this life, anyway- laid his eyes on Tenten.
The bun-haired girl had cornered the blond demanding an
explanation for the rush of memories that had given her a
migraine. He had complied with just enough to satisfy her but
until he had the others aware he hadn’t divulged the entire
truth.
“Pick a seat Naruto,†Iruka had noticed the two girls seemingly
getting a headache from nowhere but unless they complained there
was little he could do. This was a Shinobi Academy after all
where one had to learn to deal with pain. The children wouldn’t
understand how to cope if they were coddled, which would lead to
death in the world as it was.
The blond nodded, giving a bow deep enough to be polite before
making his way up to where Hinata was. He parked himself to her
left taking the center seat for the table and was unsurprised
when Ino suddenly appeared in the leftmost chair.
Four hours later; Academy Grounds
“Oof!†Naruto sharply exhaled from the punch to the solar plexus
courtesy of Ino who did not look happy at all. That was also
par for the course as Tenten had done the same thing the year
previous.
Once he recovered, he filled in what blanks he could for the
pair that were giving him the doe-eyes demanding answers. That
weakness he was happy to keep as it kept him grounded to the
rather strange reality he had found himself in.
“Not more of this stuck in time shit!†the blond female cursed,
punting a stone that flew across the grounds to plink off of the
back of Sasuke’s head.
“That was my reaction when I first woke two years ago,†Naruto
knew his heart was on his sleeve and that the two would get his
unspoken meaning. His greatest fear was being alone again after
having spent literal lifetimes developing bonds. “I haven’t
repeated anything yet due to not having done anything overly
dangerous. While this is good for being in the Academy, once we
graduate and start going out into the world . . . well, we
know.â€
â€&oe lig;Yes, we do,†Hinata whispered, not wanting to revisit her
brushes with death.
“Ah, but we have opportunities not afforded in the Time Loops,â€
he sensed her mood and went for the positives to lighten it.
“Granted we have to reacquire our skills, but now there is no
limit to what we can do. This Game or whatever mayhem it is
will let us get far stronger than we were. With the Save Points
there will be none of that starting over from scratch every
death thing either. All we have to do is be careful with our
choices so as not to skew the timeline that we know too much.â€
He left out the first time through as he had a hunch that
getting out of the Game was going to be near impossible. That
little tidbit would be for later when everybody was awakened.
“So how does this work?†Ino let her curiosity override her
indignation as it was more productive. “I mean, you say you can
track your strengths and weaknesses but . . . how?â€
He hadn’t tried it near the tree the three were under, but now
that it was brought to his attention he called for the Main
Menu. Sure enough it worked, prompting a message about finding
a [SAVE POINT] at the same time. When the girls said they
couldn’t see anything he just read from his own sheet.

“Aw damn it, I knew I forgot something!†Naruto face-palmed at
not remembering to allocate his points leading to being
imbalanced again. He pitched his idea to be as balanced as
possible so that no one enemy could overwhelm him in the field
he was weakest in. Ino and Hinata, still trying to digest the
information dump they had just received, thought it was a good
idea as being balanced would give him options for surviving what
awaited in a few years.
“And that’s Gennin Level?†the blond female abruptly sat down so
as not to fall on her face. “That Kaguya chick must be just
outrageous then.â€
“Well yeah, what with having the Eye of the Shinju and whatnot,â€
he deadpanned, trying to work out the math on the Attribute
Points so as not to leave something lacking. “Right, here we
go,†announced his rereading of his entry.

“Yes, that should work,†Hinata’s quiet voice broke the
momentary silence between the three as they interpreted what the
numbers meant.
“Why does this . . . Game . . . give such low Skill Points?†Ino
complained, not quite understanding the Leveling System.
“Because the Skills you can train,†Naruto answered his blond
counterpart calmly. “This way you don’t just get to pull a
Shikamaru and do nothing while getting powers better than
Kaguya. After all, what’s the point of having Phenomenal Cosmic
Powers without knowing how to use them?â€
“TouchÃ&c opy;,†she bobbed her head in a nod, agreeing with that
statement. It did not go unnoticed that she did not defend her
childhood friend as there was nothing untruthful about the
comparison.
“On ce the others are awakened we can hash out our next move,â€
Naruto waved away the translucent windows only he could see.
“In the meantime, I’m going to train myself into the ground
while waiting for the Graduation Exam to come around. I think
I’m nearing the Cap that the Game mentioned about automatically
forcing Missions. My first one will be solo, I remember that
much from originally learning the Kage Bunshin . . . what, a few
hundred millennia or so ago?â€
His attempt at a joke earned him a gentle bop one the head, even
if the girls were somewhat smiling.
“Hey,†Ino had a sudden thought about a pink-haired girl. “How
come Sakura hasn’t ‘awakened’ like we have?â€
“My theory,†he answered promptly, having been thinking about it
himself, “is that we never got around to making her a full
member of . . . of . . . our family. Huh, odd that I can’t say
the name. It must be one of those ‘locked secret’ things.
Anyway, those few that I never marked were apparently written
out by the Game.†Another thought struck him. “Damn it, now I’m
going to have to make special trips to hunt down the others
outside of Konoha.â€
“Shouldnâ ;€™t be too hard if you spam out your . . . the . . .
clones,†Hinata tried to name a technique he had developed and
was stymied.
“Fantastic, more control training,†Naruto groused having caught
that the skill was apparently still locked. “Right, nothing to
it but to do it.â€
Eight Months Later; Graduation Exam Day; 0600
Naruto woke feeling rather perky, absentmindedly waving away a
window about his health and chakra points being restored.
Really, those windows were down right annoying yet easy to
ignore once he had gotten used to their presence.
He had come far in the time since joining the Class of Heirs as
it was nicknamed by Ino. So far, in fact, that he had to pause
his training as he had gotten a red-tinted notice a couple
months ago.
WARNING! YOU HAVE REACHED AUTO-MISSION START POINT! DO YOU WISH
TO LEVEL AND START NEXT MISSION? [YES] [NO]
Well, that was a no brainer as far as he was concerned. To
avoid any weird feelings of fast-forwarding time he had selected
[NO] before rushing off to find those in Konoha.
Hinata had struck pay-dirt with her ‘Spamming Clones’ idea.
Knowing where those outside of the village were likely to be at
this time had cut his searching down, letting him find and
awaken them. He had also unlocked many of his previous skills
and gotten his control up where Ebisu would claim ‘Average,
Barely’ for the amount of chakra he had.
Those inside the village had been child’s play as Hinata passed
word to Kurenai who told Anko, Yugao and Hana that he was
seeking them out for something ‘ultra-important vital to their
future’.
Minus the two in the current employ of Orochimaru, the band was
back together again.
Part of what had triggered the warning message was meeting with
and regaining skills from Tsunade. Naruto had no idea that
relearning the Medical Arts would cause his level to skyrocket
as he got more and more practice in.
One could imagine the surprise Hiruzen Sarutobi felt when his
wayward Kunoichi student literally kicked his door down to
announce her presence in the village again.
Now it was the Graduation Exam and the confrontation with Mizuki
afterwards. Naruto had woken at his usual time on the dot,
before getting dressed and leaving his ratty apartment for one
of the places he had not frequented as much recently.
Ichiraku’s Ramen.
“Ayame-chan!†he bellowed far too loud for seven in the morning.
“Load me up please!â€
The daughter of Teuchi had not been amused to find herself in a
Time-Loop again, one that was even stranger than the last. Her
anger had crumbled, just like the others, when the blond boy
pouted outrageously proclaiming that it wasn’t his fault this
time. It was impossible to stay mad at that face nor the words
he spoke.
In a blur of arms that surprised her father, Ayame had five
bowls of Ramen loaded down with meats, vegetables and several
vitamin pills crushed into powder ready in ten seconds. All
three understood the extra ingredients as what the general
populace of the village refused to sell the blond.
It was rather amazing that five bowls could fill the bottomless
pit, but as they were far more than empty calories and salt it
was understandable.
“Step one, right Naruto?†the brunette leaned over the counter
to hug the teenager in what looked like a platonic manner to
fool her father.
“Yep,†the blond Uzumaki replied, returning the gesture and
understanding why the subtlety was needed. He wasn’t about to
incur the fatherly wrath watching them. “I’ll send word about
when and where as I learn about it.â€
That was his Code-Speak for letting her know that once Mizuki
had approached him with the details of the heist-that-wasn’t he
would inform the others so they could back him up if things went
wrong.
Forget this silly Game! He was not about to do things on his
own again, when he had a support structure this time around.
Time to go to work.
Konoha Academy; Iruka’s Domain; 0800
Roll had been called and the pieces were in place. The mask
came off now to reveal what Naruto could actually do.
Well, that was a misnomer. The boy wasn’t the Dobe for a
change, having sat down with Ino and Hinata to work out a method
to get each other on a team together. None of them wanted much
of anything to do with Sasuke as they had tortured the boy
enough in the original Time-Loops. All that mattered was
avoiding the Uchiha and Kakashi waiting in the wings to ‘train’
the boy.
Naruto took a moment to look around the room, before his eyes
fell on Kiba. It had crushed the entire group to learn that
those with ‘shelters’ in their minds had also been bumped out of
the Game. From what they could puzzle together it was the
primary one in Naruto’s mind that had awoken those he had fully
brought into his new family. They were hopeful that the skills
associated with bringing in others would unlock allowing them to
get the other males back in the know.
“Focus class,†Iruka brought the introspection to a halt as
Mizuki handed out the written tests. He didn’t bother with a
different one for the blond as it was assumed the kid couldn’t
even read, which sabotaged himself rather than an external force
and thus avoided the ire of the Hokage.
The man had no idea about the confrontation between Iruka and
Naruto almost three years previous, giving away that the hidden
Jinchuuriki was far more talented than he seemed.
“The rules for this test are simple,†the scarred man continued.
“No talking. No cheating. Those caught doing so automatically
fail the entire Exam. Once you are done, flip your tests over.
You have two hours to complete as many questions as you can.
You may begin.â€
Not a half an hour later three sets of paper could be heard
being turned over, earning raised eyebrows from the Senseis who
gestured them down to Iruka’s desk.
†œGo wait at the Taijutsu Ring please,†the brunette nearly
whispered, being quiet so as not to disturb the other test
takers. He struggled to hide a twitch as Naruto, Ino and Hinata
carefully made their way out of the room being just as quiet.
Quickly glancing at their tests revealed just enough differences
to rule out cheating, which had a bonus score as that meant
Gennin-level information gathering and subterfuge to avoid being
caught.
“That was gravy,†Ino sprawled on the grass under the shade of
one of the trees while the other two sat down with more dignity.
Well, Hinata did at any rate. Naruto simply slowed his descent
to the ground so as not to flop bonelessly.
“With everything we’d learned in the Loops that should have been
a piece of cake,†Hinata relaxed against the tree trunk. “After
tonight we should have access to our better skills once . . .
part of the story is told to Naruto.â€
She had changed her sentence mid-speech as suddenly Shikamaru
Nara was there, managing to look lazy, bored, sleepy and
intensely focused at the same time. He didn’t say a word as he
lay down in the grass, giving the impression that he was cloud
watching and on the verge of taking a nap.
The trio were not fooled in the least. They knew he was
feigning disinterest in the hopes they would assume he wasn’t
paying attention and thus say more than they should. Really, if
they didn’t know his character so well his attempt at espionage
would have gone much better. Of course now they couldn’t talk
freely, instead choosing to enjoy each other’s company.
â€&oeli g;Before I forget,†Naruto was starting to doze off in the shade
as the morning was nice and cool, “I did prompt Jiji, so we have
our meeting place.â€
It would be found out soon enough that he was talking about the
old Uchiha District, which the blond had learned -many lifetimes
ago- how to get the Hokage to cough it up for free. He had
phrased it just so to keep some of the mystery surrounding them
going as they knew they frustrated people like Shikamaru who
hated puzzles.
“WAKE UP!†bellowed Iruka, snapping the three out of their very
nice nap rudely. The rest of the class was snickering at the
three, the girls having rolled in the direction of Naruto to
snuggle him. Shikamaru had somehow rolled into a bush and was
cursing quietly as he attempted to extract himself before waving
Chouji over for some assistance.
Said teacher had hit the turf as a kunai whizzed by where his
head had been, thrown with surprising accuracy and power from
somebody that was going from sleep to wakefulness, forget it
being from an Academy Student.
ITEM LOST: [1] Academy Kunai
“Damn it,†Naruto grumbled, subtlety waving away the notice
about his weapon. “Don’t do that Sensei!†He covered his
actions nicely, diverting any suspicions to the fact that he was
being forced awake.
“Moving on . . .,†Iruka ignored the blond as he was wont to do
whenever things started getting weird around him, getting the
Taijutsu testing done. Naturally in the course of events the
brunette went against the Uchiha leaving Mizuki to the Uzumaki.
Well, this guy was a traitor in every sense of the word. Ino
and Hinata had asked about one of his fighting styles and it was
ready enough for a debut while not being good enough to utterly
destroy the man.
“Hajime!â€
Those watching were floored as Naruto went into motion, a few
copies of himself briefly spawning from his body in various
places multiplying the number of limbs heading in the Assistant
Instructor’s direction. More than once did a clone use another
as a bludgeon, pancaking the light-blue haired man into the
ground before both disappeared with a wisp of smoke. As a
finisher -highly unnecessary as the soon to be revealed traitor
was already unconscious but Iruka was too busy to stop the
match- numerous clones began punching and kicking the man
airborne before stacking on each other like a ladder. This was
so the Original and four hundred ninety-nine copies could race
to the top to deliver a One Thousand Hit Combo with their fists.
Mizuki made a nice crater when he finally came down at just
short of terminal velocity, drawing the attention of Iruka at
last.
“What the-?!†he rushed to the site of the rough landing,
checking his friend to insure he was still alive. He was, and
wasn’t actually in that bad of shape for being manhandled in
such a severe manner. By the time he looked up the clones were
gone as was the smoke they left behind, leaving Naruto with a
raised left eyebrow.
“So, did I pass this test?†he nonchalantly asked while ignoring
the gawking class around him.
“Yeah, this is a Flawless Victory,†the scarred man had to hand
it to one of his favorite people. He had been flashy just for
the test while not actually doing much intentional damage and at
the same time gave his opponent no time to counterattack.
Exactly what the test called for. He was so stunned that he
managed to forget the Kage Bunshin being used.
“That was . . . awesome!†Ino was beside herself in glee, having
never thought of that move before. She’d expressed her opinion
once her fellow blond had appeared between herself and Hinata.
“Just wait until we get the improved versions again,†he kept
his voice low, not bothering to hide his smugness at handing the
guy his ass on a platter.
From there, after the Yamanaka had her go, it was on to the
Ninjutsu portion. Mizuki had been patched up in the meantime,
laying in wait for Naruto’s turn.
Since he had managed to get good enough control for a chakra
intensive technique, he managed to fool the pair by performing
the hand-signs for the Bunshin while at the same time bringing
forth his favorite technique in the Kage Bunshin.
He even had them move in sync with him to sell that they were
‘illusions’. Sure enough, much to the ire of Mizuki by the look
in his eyes, the duo bought it and had little choice but to
graduate him.
The world paused as Naruto expected it to by this point.

He wasn’t going to accept it just yet as he still needed the
details from Mizuki so as to put the traitor away for good. He
was glad his control had moved into Attributes as that would
give him the ability to ‘perfect’ it much faster opening up a
whole new world of techniques for him.
After Ino passed her test, he walked the pair of girls to the
doors to send them on their way with their families. He’d be
seeing them soon enough, having given the whole aware group
clones masquerading as a necklace.
Sitting on the swing, he didn’t have to wait long for Mizuki to
make his move. Instead of a promotion to Gennin which he had
already earned it was a promise of fast-tracking the blond onto
the Chuunin list. Fairly standard hogwash that Naruto paid no
attention to.

There was no way to avoid it now, so he selected his only choice
before rushing off to his apartment. Now that the Major Event
had been triggered it was time to save and distribute some
points he had accumulated. A clone was there and gone so fast
not even the Hokage, who was watching the rather odd scene via
his crystal ball, had noticed it.

Holy crap his stats had gotten all sorts of crazy holding back
on the Leveling. This was going to take a while to fix,
especially with his control now being modifiable. He also
noticed that his LUCK attribute had gained a symbol instead of a
digit. He assumed, correctly, that it meant no matter how much
he pumped into his other attributes it would always be pegged at
full for the number of digits in another. Still, he had an ass-
ton of points to use and not much time to do it.

He frowned at his Genjutsu Attribute, knowing why it took
forever for it to gain points. This was as close to being
balanced as he could get before dumping the Skill Points across
the two skills that needed them, bringing them even with his
self-created fighting style. Holy Log this was far more trouble
than it was worth.
Another thing that bothered Naruto was that his new skill
creation had slowed to a crawl. Apparently he had to be
introduced to a concept first, be it by book or by mouth, before
he could get any skills in that department.

The opening note says it all. Besides, with the way Kishimoto
made everybody and their Summons just short of being a God I
figured “why not stay in that vein, but actually account for the
growth?â€. It makes the battle with Kaguya a bit more believable
if the reader has quantifiable data in front of their face over
a vague time-skip Power Up.
Ah, yes. Perfect Lionheart has disappeared from the fanfiction
community. I actually reread Chuunin Exam Day while I was
creating this for inspiration and the references I make point
directly to that story . . . that hasn’t been touched in
forever.
Once you get through his need for detail there’s a great fic in
there! Too bad it remains unfinished . . .
Anyway, if I get a message of some type from him saying to flush
this I will. However, I’m hoping he won’t as this goes in a new
direction from where he was.
