[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

Hey. I'm here again with a new Harry Potter fic. This time it's a songfic. Hope you guys like it. The song is 'What Hurts The Most' by Racal Flatts.

Disclaimer- I do not own Harry Potter and it's characters or what hurts the most. What Hurts The Most By: Liz Night

It started to rain as Draco stood near the gravesite service that was going on. There were a few people there, those that could be spared from rounding up stray Death Eaters. Most of them were crying as they saw the coffin that contained Draco's lover lower into the ground.   I can take the rain on the roof of this empty house
That don't bother me
I can take a few tears now and then
And just let 'em out
I'm not afraid to cry every once in a while
Even though going on with you gone still upsets me
There are days every now and again
I pretend I'm ok, but that's not what gets me

He waited till everyone had left before he went to the grave. He ran his hands against the words carved into the headstone. "Harry James Potter Savior of a People." He barely took notice of the tears streaming down his face. What hurts the most
Was being so close
And havin' so much to say
And watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was trying to do

Flashback

"Draco, do you love me?" Harry asked. They were laying in bed, cuddling.

Draco looked up at Harry to see a troubled expression. Then without any hesitation, he said, "Of course I love you. I thought I told you enough times."

Harry took a breath. "Then stay here tomorrow. This mission's going to be extremely dangerous and I can't lose you."

"Harry, what's wrong? We've been on other dangerous missions before and you've never been like this," Draco asked.

"Something's just different about this mission. Please promise to stay," Harry pleaded.

"Ok, I promise," Draco said, trying to get Harry to feel better. It's hard to deal with the pain of losin' you every where I go
But I'm doin' it
It's hard to force that smile when I see our old friends and I'm alone
Still harder
Gettin' up, gettin' dressed, livin' with this regret, but I know
If I could do it over
I would trade, give away, show the words that I saved in my heart that I left unspoken

Another Flashback

"Be careful Harry. The first thing you see when you get home is going to be me," Draco said.

"Don't worry, Ron and I'll return and the war will be over. Then, we'll finally be able to be together," Harry said and then kissed Draco.

"I love you, Harry," Draco whispered as Harry started to walk out of the house. Harry looked back and gave one final smile to his lover. What hurts the most
Is being so close
And havin' so much to say
And watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to do

Yet Another Flashback

Draco waited by the window that would give him the first sight of Harry returning for days. Then finally one day he saw someone coming. He ran from the window to the door too early to notice the figure was red haired and carrying someone with dark hair.

Draco ran to meet them, but slowed down when he saw. "Harry," escaped in a gasp. What hurts the most
Is being so close
And havin' so much to say
And watchin' you walk away
And never knowin'
What could've been
And not seein' that lovin' you
Is what I was tryin' to do

"Why? Did you know that after you killed the dark lord that you'd be ambushed? Is that why you made me stay? To be alone?" Draco started to sob. He leaned against the headstone.

Unbeknownst to Draco a certain dark haired ghost stood behind him. There were tears running down his face as well.

"I love you, Draco. I always will and I'll always watch over you," Harry said even though he knew Draco couldn't hear him.

How'd you guys like it? Tell me please. S'ya.
