Beginnings: The Path to Greatness 
 
The train ride started out pretty boring, though quite a few guys hit on her. Harmony ended up 
sitting alone waiting for Hermione and Ron to finish their prefect duties and find her when, 
without warning, the door slid open to reveal none other than Pansy Parkinson.  
“You must be the new girl.†She stuck out a hand that Harmony shook. “My name’s Pansy and 
I’m in Slytherin. Most of the other houses say all sorts of mean things about us, but we’re 
actually pretty decen t. We don’t even eat our own dead; they used to give us gas.†
She laughed, “Hi, Pansy. My name’s Harmony.†
“Harmony,â€&n bsp;She got an almost mischievous gleam in her eye, â€œWhy don’t&nb sp;you come sit with 
us?†Then without waiting for a response, she pulled poor harmony out and down the train, 
explaining things all the way. It was then she realized that Pansy wasn’t all that different from 
Hermione, just Slytherin.  
“Guys, this is Harmony. Harmony, this is Blaise, Vincent, Gregory, and Theodore.†Everyone 
waved or said hello. “There is one more to our little group, but he’s head boy so you’ll meet him 
in a few, in the mean time you could tell us a little about you or I could tell you about 
Hogwarts.†They all really  were nice, and Harmony found herself fitting right in with these 
people she’d never thought to get to know while she was Harry. Not too much later, Draco 
entered and flopped down gracefully across half of the seat Harmony was on, mouth going a 
mile a minute.  
“Hey guys. Can you believe that almost nothing’s changed, no good gossip; well, Potter’s gone 
off somewhere, but other than that and granger and weasley’s oddness, and I do mean odd! It’s 
like they killed him or something.†The blonde shrugged as best he could while lying down. “Oh, 
has anybody seen any of the new kids?†
“Um, Hi.†Harmony said and waved a little when he tilted his head back to see her. He blushed 
crimson and shot straight up, Harmony couldn’t help but notice just how cute Draco Malfoy 
looked right then and the gleam in Pansy’s eye grew tenfold that day. 
 
The end of the train ride came all too soon and everyone spilled out onto the platform, where 
Hagrid called all the first years and Harmony to come with him on the boats where she was by 
far the tallest and stood out like a sore thumb.  
“Miss Evans,†McGonagall greeted as Harmony entered the castle. “You will be sorted 
following all of the year ones.†The first year sorting went without anyone taking overly long to 
sort, and then it was time.  
“Harmony Evans.†The deputy headmistress finally called. She sat upon the stool and began the 
process that would lead her to her new home away from home.
