CHAPTER TWO: A NEW FRIEND

 

With the moon starting to rise Alucard awakens he hears some whispering in the subway car below, he sharpens his hearing to listen in to the conversation. A slow smile spreads its way across his face as he hears two guys talking about Seras and how this strange smell had lead them to her. Alucard starts to chuckle at how stupid the young vampires were not to even know what had led them there. He quiets down again as they continue to whisper talking about how hot his Police girl was and how stupid she must be to have slept the day away on the subway. Alucard nods his agreement but takes action when one of the young males starts to move toward police girl. He simply lets his head go through the roof of the car clucking his tongue and shaking his head. He sent out a powerful voice into their heads that simply said one word mine. That was all he had to do and the other two vampires shaking in their boots jumped off of the car at the next stop Alucard's head snapped up back to the top of the car when he felt Seras waking he quickly hid his presence from her but still laid his ear onto the cold steal listening to her movements and thoughts.

 

Seras awoke that night rather stiff from the way she had curled around her bags. She couldn't believe how lucky she had been to not even have to wake up and fight off the numerous pick pockets in the subway. She stood up and stretched unaware that Alucard was above her breathing in her scent almost intoxicated. She then looked around the car relieved that once again luck was with her and she was alone. She sat back down on her seat and opened the bag with the blood she really hated to drink it but if she was going to make it to the mountains she had to have her strength. She dropped the empty packet near the other empty one on top of the full ones and quickly zipped her bag shut.

 

At this point Alucard noticed that he too had a hunger it was draining hiding his presence from police girl. He decided that she was big enough to be without him being by her side for a few moments while he grabbed a bite to eat. And with that thought he became a dark fog and traveled down the subway cars to find something or someone to eat. He stopped about two cars away seeing a young woman with her eyes darting around in fear. He could tell that she normally didn't travel this late and so he decided to teach her a small lesson looking to see if the car was empty. Before the woman could even move his darkness surrounded her he kept his senses open to any other sound as he sunk his teeth into her moist flesh.

 

Meanwhile Seras was watching the floor in boredom wondering how much longer it would be before the subway line ended, she knew it wouldn't be long she had after all spent the whole daylight hours riding it. She was unaware of the young man eyeing her through the door connecting the car to the one ahead of it.

 

Seras jumped in surprise as she heard the door opening that connected the two cars. She gave a glance up through her bangs at the new comer. She then raised her head all the way up when her eyes came into contact with two red ones and she gave an involuntary gasp. That man had to be a vampire with eyes like that, her hand automatically moved into her bag for the hand gun hidden there but she stopped herself returning her hand to her lap her gaze never leaving his. He hadn't threatened her yet so she didn't really feel the need to bring out her gun after all the only vampire she had ever truly had a conversation with had been her master and that really hadn't been a real conversation with him doing all the talking. So she decided to follow her curiosity and if indeed he was a threat then she always had her gun.

 

Seras started to feel uncomfortable under his stare and muttered a quiet yes questioning his intention. To her surprise he finally said

“Your one of us aren't you?” She gave a small smile wanting to play around with him for a while asking

“One of us?” She kept a confused look on her face but inwardly she had started to smile at how the young man seemed to be nervous as he replied

“You're a vampire are you not?”

“Yes I am and I assume you are one also?” She was curious but kept her other questions to herself.

“Uh huh, but forgive me my name is Julian.” She gave a small smile sizing him up in her mind. He was awfully handsome and his name had an air of mystery about him.

“My name is Seras. Do you have a last name Julian?” She could see the man give a shiver as she called him by his name.

“No I used to but it's been so long that I have forgotten. Do you have one Seras?” He slowly said her name happy to see her blush.

“Yes but I don't really know you so I won't tell you or at least not yet.” Her blush faded as she gained control over the conversation again. She involuntarily shrunk back in her seat as he moved closer to her but she still refused to draw her gun knowing that she could handle herself physically as well.

 

The man named Julian sat a seat over from Seras turning a serious look on his face as he said

“I haven't ever really met an outsider before all I have ever seen is the one who made me.”

“And who made you Julian?” He instantly perked up at her question

“I don't know you well enough to tell you that or at least not yet.” Seras gave a smile realizing that he wanted to play with her but deciding not to tell him anything of importance such as the helloing organization or her master Alucard. She decided not to tell him the latter in fear that he would run away and she had been so lonely lately so she played along

“And where are you going Julian?” She couldn't help herself she loved to say his name and see how it excited him. She noticed that he gave a glance at her luggage before he replied

“I'm on a trip and you? Where are you headed Seras?” He seemed to enjoy saying her name as much as she did his and she widened her smile deciding that it wouldn't hurt to tell him a little bit

“I'm on my way to train in the mountains. And you, where are you going Julian?” He seemed lost in thought for a moment before he said

“I'm also on my way there.” And with that he leaned back in his seat playing it cool but Seras could see that he was still tense. She didn't know whether to believe him or not but decided to play along for the company a little while longer. She also relaxed her self even though her mind was swimming. They sat like that for a while until Julian said

“Well how about it?” Seras turned her head to look at him confusion on her face as she asked

“About what?” Julian gave a small laugh and said

“Why don't we travel together? It would be nice to have some company along the way, what do you think?” Seras didn't really know how to reply she had just met this man she really didn't know anything about him. Her face was deep in thought as she did the pros and cons of the idea. She had been so lonely even though she had only been gone two nights. Her mind then turned to the thought of Alucard he would be furious and that one thought she made mind up. She pressed down her excitement playing it cool as she agreed to Julian's idea. Seras and Julian sat in a comfortable silence waiting for the train to end its route so they could get off.

 

By that time Alucard had returned from his little snack hearing the agreement that Seras and Julian had come too. He was furious, stupid police girl she deserved what that man had in mind for her. He wanted to reach through the steal of the subway car ceiling and grab that man by his neck snapping it and then drinking the blood that would flow. He shook his head knowing that his child would be furious at his act of cruelty to someone she now considered a friend. So Alucard decided to watch instead waiting for the time he knew would come when his police girl would call for his help. He smiled as he thought of how he would punish her for her stupidity.

 

After a while the train stops a voice saying end of the line over the intercom. Seras stood up reaching for her bags to only grab Julian's hand as he reached for her bags. Julian gave a small giggle as he hefted her bags up on his shoulder he said

“I'll take these I won't have my pretty companion dragging these around hurting her back.” Seras giggled back at his complement as she replied in a sweet voice

“Why thank you my kind companion but won't you let me help you?” They stepped out of the subway car unaware of the red eyes that flowed from the car to the wall. They burst into a fit of giggles; Seras couldn't remember the last time she had laughed like this.

 

Alucard snorted in disgust at how Seras played along with this idiot's game. She was doing exactly what he had wanted giggling like a silly girl on her first date. He was furious at her actions didn't she know that she was his? He had made her and he would die before he let some rogue vampire have her it was his right as her master to decide who she mated with and when she did it. Alucard knew that it was only a game of waiting before the new comer went crazy with lust and tried to take her with or without her permission and that is when he would step in and take what was his. He felt his chest shake as laughter filled his thoughts while he became a shadow and followed the two younger vampires.

 

Meanwhile Seras was having a great time talking with her new found friend she still didn't know what his intentions where but brushed the idea aside knowing that she could handle herself. She saw that they were coming to the edge of the populated part of town and excused herself ducking into a bathroom to change a few things. Julian's face became strained as he smelt her scent become stronger but held his own promising himself some fun later and he had control when Seras reappeared out of the bathroom a light blush across her cheeks. She thought again how odd it was that she was having her period, Alucard had never told her that this would happen but then again he was a guy and probably didn't know himself. She gave Julian a smile that reached her eyes for the first time she didn't know if he was an enemy or a friend but either way she was glad to have the company especially when she was feeling kind of weak from her blood loss. She felt free and even a little happy the idea of having her period made her feel almost human again and as much hassle as it was she didn't mind as long as it made her feel more like a human again. She knew that if Alucard could hear her thoughts he would be disgusted but he wasn't there now was he which let her think as freely as she wanted. Seras took Julian's hand in hers hearing a small gasp he let out in surprise but didn't care she quickly led him down the main road of the town.

 

Alucard sulked in the shadows, this new vampire had no right to make his fledgling smile like that, stupid girl. He followed the cheerful couple at a distance still masking his presence gritting his teeth as he heard what the police girl thought. And he agreed with her he did think it was weak and disgusting to hold onto your humanity when you could be immortal. He wondered how this so called Julian could keep his cool as Seras unknowingly let off the scent even stronger than before, most vampires would have lost themselves by now going into a bloodlust. He thought that perhaps he had underestimated this new threat and maybe he was stronger than he let on. Well he would make sure to put a stop to him before he could taint his child. Alucard knew that Seras was indeed a virgin but quickly stopped his thoughts there as he felt his need try and take over.

 

Alucard decided then and there that he had never denied himself anything before so why should he start now. He would make Seras a true vampire whether she liked it or not and then he himself would mate with her. She was his property, he had made her the way she was so it was only right that he should mate with her himself. He justified his decision as he thought of all the times he had to save her it was just a way that she could repay him for his help.
