Sweet Innocences-
Chapter Three: Day One... Of Many- Miss James is learning just what it means to live in the Hellsing Manor, as well as with its irritants.
This time it wasn't a headache to wake her. This time, it was a soft tapping on her door. She opened one eye to the sunshine and growled her displeasure before yanking the covers back and shuffling to the windows to close the heavily curtained windows. It was then she realized where she was, and why again she was surrounded by such finery. The wieght of what had happened the night before suddenly hit her full on. Tears for little Janice began to well in her eyes as she stumbled back into bed to sleep the day away. She had just gotten the covers over her head and a pillow to comfort her stomach when the tapping returned.Chapter Three: Day One... Of Many- Miss James is learning just what it means to live in the Hellsing Manor, as well as with its irritants.
"Miss James?"
She recognized the voice as the butler's from the previous night and ignored it. Knock knock knock!
"Miss James?" He came more insistantly. She growled, shoving the covers off and marched across the threshold clumsily. Opening the door, she saw Walter standing just outside with a young, strawberry blonde woman behind him. The poor girl looked exhausted, but she smiled at Aelita.
"Good Morning, Miss James. Here breakfast for you, as well as a change of clothes from Sir Integra. She hopes they fit and sends her best." Walter said, walking into the room as the woman stepped in with two silver trays laddened with tea, a covered plate, napkins and eating utensils.
"You may go to bed now, Miss Victoria." Walter dismissed kindly.
"Thank you, Walter." The blonde said with a yawn. She turned to Aelita and stuck out a hand. "By the way, My name is Seras Victoria. Please feel free to call me Seras."
Aelita shook her hand and watched her leave.
"Does anybody here even stay up during the morning hours?" Aelita asked as she eyed Miss Victoria.
"Not really. Most of Hellsing's activities are night-bound." He answered with an apologetic smile.
"Oh." She approached the small table and looked curiously at the tray Seras had brought in. Walter draped the clothes he'd brought over her bed before pulling out a chair for her.
"Have a seat, please." Aelita smiled. She rather enjoyed the attention. Walter leaned over toward the tray and picked up the silver cover, placing it on the table. Beneath the tray lay a plate with two slices of bacon, two eggs over-easy, and a piece of lightly buttered golden toast. Three kinds of jams were on the side to choose from, as well as a coffee cup for the small pot filled with coffee.
"Would you like a cup?" He asked as she eyed the pot.
"Please, and thankyou." She sighed, content written on her face. Walter poured her a cup of the most potent coffee she'd ever had the pleasure of scenting.
"Cream, or sugar."
"Both, if you please."
Walter poured, and she stopped when it was right. She lifted the coffee cup to her lips, inhaling the strong scent of good coffee before going to sip when-
"Good morning, Miss James."
The voice startled her so that she jumped, spilling hot coffee into her lap. She yelped in surprise and pain, only spilling more of the hot beverage on her naked thighs.
"For the love of all that is holy." She hissed, slamming the cup onto the table. Walter kept his grin to himself before handing her the cloth napkin.
"Jumpy today. Whatever for?" Alucard asked, just before the table. His grin roused her irritation.
"Shutup and at least leave me in peace for one day, will you? You've a full thirteen other days to try to get me into being your slum slave, or whatever." She dabbed at the reddened skin of her lap, trying to dry up a perfectly good cup of coffee before shooting a glare in his direction.
"And let you stew in your depression? I think not, little one. Besides, first impressions are always the most important."
"Thats Miss James to you. And I do believe you failed in terms of first impressions.." She answered absently before turning to Walter. "Excuse me while I dress."
She scooted away from the table, pulling down the sleep-tousled sweatshirt as she snatched up the clothes laying on her bed. She entered the bathroom and locked the door, sighing at her stolen moment.
You don't honestly believe walls and doors will stop me from irritating you. Came his voice. She howled her discontent, wanting to bang on the door and tell him to stop talking through the door.
SHUDDUP YOU BLOODY GIT! She thought to herself, head shaking.
How very unkind. And to think an innocent uses that kind of language.
Aelita wanted to gape. He couldn't read her mind. That was only in fictions, wasn't it?
So were vampires... He teased.
He could. Aelita blushed madly at the possibilities that came with telepathy. She would never again have a private thought, and even if she came to fancy a gentleman... Oh dear indeed.
Aelita shook off her surprise in favor of dressing quickly. She pulled on a pair of suit pants that were a mite tight, but fit rather well. Then came a white uniform shirt with the Hellsing family crest on the right breast pocket, as well as a name-tag that read Seras Victoria. The dress-shirt was awfully loose in the front, but it was rather comfortable that way. She tucked the ends in and pulled it out a bit, then checked her appearance in the mirror. Her hair was a mess, dark circles were under her eyes, but the tan slacks and white shirt they provided brightened her fatigued appearance. She didn't look too terrible.
Opening the door, she stepped out to find Alucard gone and Walter cleaning up the spilled coffee. She quickly went to help the older man.
"I'm so sorry about that." she apologized, picking up her napkin and mopping the mess on the floor up. Walter laughed before he patted her back.
"It isn't a problem, Miss James. Master Alucard has that effect on people."
Aelita didn't doubt it.
"So where did tall, dark, and mysterious run off to?" She asked, folding the soiled napkin and putting it on the table. She picked up a slice of bacon and began to munch, her stomach rumbling. Walter grinned.
"He's off to bed."
Aelita tapped her chin thoughtfully, then eyed Walter.
"What about you? When do you get around to sleeping?" She asked. Walter seemed have to stop and think about his answer.
"Well, most days I sleep whenever I'm positive I have an hour or so open."
Aelita twiddled her fingers as she sat on the edge of the bed.
"What about Miss Hellsing? She seems to be a busy woman."
Walter glanced at her and stood, gathering up the soiled dishes.
"Sir Integra normally tries to get a few hours of sleep during the morning hours, otherwise she won't have time."
Aelita nodded absently.
"So there problably isn't too many people awake during the day. Should I adjust my sleeping patterns to the night?"
Walter paused, casting her a curious glance.
"I suppose, if you wanted to meet some of the more interesting characters of the Hellsing manor." He answered with a soft snicker.
Walter noticed the absent look on Miss Aelita James' face. She seemed lost in thought, staring at the heavy gold curtains with a storm of unknown emotions tumbling through the air. At first, as he put the cup on the tray she was angry. Then she seemed sad. And as he finished re-capping the uneaten food, she looked lost, almost confused. Walter went and patted the girl's shoulder, rousing her from her thoughts.
"Don't worry too much, Miss James. You will be well treated here." She smiled, but it didn't look genuine to Walter. "As for the child you mentioned earlier..."
Pain filled her expression, and she looked away toward the curtains.
"It wasn't your fault, Miss James. I'm sure you did everything you could to prevent what happened."
She gave a dry laugh.
"I didn't do anthing. I'm so pathetic.." she sighed. Walter went and picked up the tray, going to the door.
"Feel free to roam around, Miss James. Don't become too restless." He said, closing the door behind him. Aelita turned her head to the closed doors and stared at it. Sighing, she decided to take heed and pulled off the tan slacks, as well as the shirt. She didn't want to wrinkle anything while she slept.

Seras woke with a loud yawn and a good stretch. She hopped out of her coffin, brushing her hand over it's lovely finished surface. She couldn't ever imagine thinking it, but she was beginning to grow fond of it. Despite the cramped surface, and odditties of sleeping in the coffin itself, it'd been lined with the softest silk she'd ever had the privledge of laying on. Integra may have taken away her bed, but she hadn't been cheap with the coffin that replaced it, and for that she was thankful. Going to the dresser drawers she removed a new pair of undergarments, uniform shirt and skirt as well as stalkings. She slipped each on quickly before sliding each foot into a pair of mandatory boots. Feeling refreshed and ready to go, she strode out the door and bumped into an unexpected visitor."M-master!" She greeted, a toothy grin on her childish face.
"Good morning, Police Girl. I assume you slept well?"
She nodded enthusiastically.
"Fit to fight an army, Master."
"Thats good. Today you'll be Miss James' escort." He said, turning to walk back through the walls toward his own private room.
"Roger!" she said with the slightest of salutes. He gave her directions to the girl's room before heading off to do whatever he did during the day. She would have to ask him one of these days just what he did during the day.

Seras knocked on the door that Alucard had instructed her to visit. There was a loud thump!, some rustling and cursing before she heard a voice at the door."If thats you, I'm not opening this door.." Miss James growled. Seras looked confused, but answered anyway.
"Miss James, it's me, Seras Victoria! Master Alucard requested I escort you around this evening."
The door cracked open and Miss Aelita peeked an eye out before opening the door and welcoming the her in. Seras blushed a bit when she found Miss James in nothing but her brazier and a pair of britches.
"I can wait outside if you like." Seras said with a blush, pointing to the door. Miss Aelita ran a hand through her long dark hair.
"No worries at all. Besides, I'm borrowing your clothes." She said with a sleepy smile. Seras smiled a bit.
"Sorry if I woke you." She offered. Aelita waved her off as she pulled on the pants and shirt.
"I needed to be woken. I slept all day." she paused. "Thank you all for your hospitality. I don't mean to be a burden."
Seras shrugged.
"This only happens every so often. And its nice to have another girl in the house!" Seras added with another charming smile. Aelita laughed.
"I bet. So what do you do around here for fun?"
Seras grinned deviously.

-WalkingDead- What do they do for fun indeed.. I'm sure Miss James will be particularly surprised. I hope I haven't completely worn out my love for cliffhangers, they are a lovely plot device. They also help me think of just what next to write. As for the title n00b, I do believe I acquired it! ^^; I'm afraid that I found a slight plot hole (where Miss James' adopted daughter turns into a ghoul). I realized the little girl HAD to be a virgin at such a young age.. duh. Thus, I changed the circumstances surrounding her death.
Thanks for the read,
