:: Chapter Six ::
The Allusions of a Life (censured)   Life in Kagoshima was sickeningly pleasant even after the events of the day before. Winter was at its best behavior. Last night’s clouds where swept away by the new dawn of a new, glorious day. Oh and how glorious was the day.   Shin hates every second of every minute of the day.   After sleeping through all of his classes, like usual, Shin was doing his best to seize the sleep he lost last night. Too bad the new substitute, Yashi-sensei, did not take kindly to this. But the trip to the principal’s office was the least of his worries.    Matsumoto Rei was a portly fella hitting 55 years old, and it just so happened that Shin was his favorite student. It didn’t take long for Shin to take advantage of that fact. Oh and what was a more fun thump card to have, than the president and founder of the school behind one’s back?   Pun intended.   (censured)   “That would be all Shindou.”   Shin smirked, “Call me Shin, Sensei.”   Shin got up off the desk, his black eyes as cold a death. A chill went down the principal’s back as those eyes looked at him, “…Shin…”   Shin gave a wicked chuckle as he pulled back up his pants, caring not that his blood and other fluids were seeping through the material. “Domo arigato,” Shin bowed, ignoring the sharp pain that went down his spin in protest.   “Dou itashimashite,” Matsumoto replied back with a bow.   Shin grinned at the false formality of their little Game and left the office with backward wave to the ignorant secretary.   On his way home, Shin remembered to stop by a gas station to buy some much needed groceries, ignoring the odd looks coming from the clerk (most likely due to the blood seeping through his pants). Using the ATM, Shin checked to see how much Stranger was worth. By the number on the machine, that is if his eyes weren’t failing him, it looked like Stranger was worth a pretty penny or two. One night with the man granted him enough bucks to raise a ranch with. Shin contemplated this. It was almost “too good to be true.”   Deciding to just go with the flow for now, Shin extracted enough money to work with that day. It was never acceptable to walk the streets with enough money to attract unwanted attention. Even an idiot would know that.   Buying enough to carry, and even run if necessary, Shin went home with usual unspecific rout to Blood-Black Roses. Dropping the bags, unlocking the door, and picking the bags back up, Shin went into the bar-turned-kitchen to put what little he had away. As he was shutting the cupboard, Karasu came down the stairs with a nasty glair upon his face.   “I should kill you where you stand, asshole.”   Shin gave him a look that plainly said, ‘I would like to see you try.’   “But I won’t since you brought food with you,” Karasu walked passed Shin to look into the mini-fridge. Extracting some lunch meat and cheese, before retrieving the bread, Karasu made them some sandwiches.   As he was making their food, he noticed the blood on Shin’s pants, “WHAT THE FUCK?!”   Shin ignored him and grabbed his sandwich off the table, eating half of it before his stomach started to revolt. All the while, Karasu was spluttering.   Karasu grabbed the young man’s arm, only to find more blood there. Shin made no move of discomfort though. Gently, Karasu inspected the bloodied wrist, “What happened?”   Shin yanked his arm away, “Nothing.”   “The hell it is nothing!” Karasu tried to stop his friend from leaving, but knew not to touch him while he was in this kind of mood, instead, he followed him up the stairs towards the farthest room. There was a certain tilt to Shin’s walking that Karasu knew to be anal tearing. He figured the deduction wasn’t far off the mark, considering the amount of blood on Shin’s pants.   Shin gingerly sat down upon his bed and picked up his medical supplies off the floor. Or at least he tried to pick them up, slowly, but Karasu beat him to it. Grabbing the gauze and antiseptic, Karasu went into the bathroom to make a bath and retrieve some clean water.   “Take off your pants,” he ordered from inside the bathroom, as he turned on the scolding hot water with a shout of surprise. “SHIT!”   Growling, Karasu came back with a steaming bowl of water, to see the naked form of his friend lying on his stomach, not liking how thin the boy looked since the last time he saw him. He walked around to the front, looking at the torn and scraped arms. Kneeling, he grabbed the one that was obviously bitten into.   He held the arm over the water, using the washcloth to bring the hot water to the arm. Shin hissed but otherwise reframed from comment. The water was soon a deep pink hue, but the arm hadn’t stopped bleeding. Grabbing the gauze again, Karasu went to get it wet with the running bath water and renew the bowl of water. He brought back some rubbing alcohol and added it into the bowl.   He gave no warning as he dowsed the gauze with water from the bowl, before pressing it into Shin’s bleeding arm. Shin gave a sharp cry of surprise before looking up to glare at him. The staring match lasted decades, before Karasu moved to check the wound. The bleeding had slowed down a bit. Washing the gauze in the bathroom and turning off the running bath water, he returned to wrap the material around the wound; making sure to add the antiseptic and create padding to compress the bite before tying the gauze.      He made another journey to get fresh water for the bowl, before moving to Shin’s backside. He winced in pity. There were bruises on the boy’s sides, as for the rest… at least it stopped bleeding. Considering the fact that Shin made little protest to beginning treated to, he must have been in great agony.   Grabbing the now clean washcloth, he wiped the blood off Shin’s thighs, being careful around the wounded area.   “Shin,” he waited until black eyes turned to him, “I am going to have to check to see how much tearing there is.”   “Just get on with it,” Shin laid his head back down uncaring.   “I’m sorry…” Karasu winces again, “This is going to hurt.”   Karasu gently pushed a finger into Shin’s rectum, feeling around for the tell-tell signs of a tear.  Shin made no move of discomfort. Odd, considering Karasu had such happen to him once, and it hurt like the seven gates of hell. Even that was an understatement.   There were three rips total. Grabbing the antiseptic, he added that to his finger, before applying it to the wounds he found. Other than that, there wasn’t much else he could do.   Sighing, Karasu picked up his slack friend and carried him towards the bathroom, knowing that the warm water will do wonders to such a brutal wound.   He checked the water once, to make sure it wasn’t still scolding, before lowering the boy into its warmth. Shin groaned but otherwise didn’t show much feeling. Retrieving the washcloth once more, he washed Shin’s hair and body, being careful not to get the bitten hand wet.  Then picked him up and wrapped him in the towel.   He set the naked boy down upon his bed, covered him up, and the exhaustion take hold.
-()()()-   Five hours later, the sun went down and Shin came down the stairs in all his naked glory. Karasu was struck by the powerful beauty before him. Shin was truly a fallen angel sent down from heaven. Add to Shin’s black hair and black eyes, his body was lean, battered, but still head an air of power about it. It was in the way he walked with such confidence. It was in his eye, as they looked straight into one’s soul. Shin could stop a blind man in his tacks, just by being in the same room. He just had that type of charisma about him that made one go, “Woooow…”   Shin raised an eyebrow in questioning.   Karasu smirked, “Just thinking about how to lock up in that room, so that no one can see how ugly you look right now.”    Shin chuckled, “A few scrapes and bruises is not going to stop me from work, Karasu.”   Karasu pointed his butter knife at him, “Yeah, but one look at that mug of yours will have them running for America…”   Shin snorted, walking around the bar to see what Karasu was making. Ramen. Flash of sadness passed through Shin’s eyes, unnoticed to the rambling raven. Shin could almost hear the sound of his past self yelling, ‘Moooom!! Ramen!!” before running upstairs… His heart ached, and he silently scolded himself for the slight slip of the control he had to his feelings, ‘Nevermore…” A pierce went through his body, “I am not him… I’ll never be him again… he’s gone.”   “OI! Shin, are you listening to me cocksucker?!” Karasu puffed in annoyance, but stopped, “Hey… are you alright?”   “I’m fine,” Shin grabbed his bowl and walked towards the tables.   “Whatever, man.” Karasu grabbed his and followed him to the tables.   It was going to be a long night already. Karasu sighed, ‘Some things never change.’   He caught Shin staring out at nothing again.   Karasu hid is smile behind his bowl of ramen, ‘And some things just need a little extra time to get there…

Chapter One End: To Be Continued

Annoying Authors Notes:   Hummm, I have mixed feeling with this chapter. I spent a good deal of time fixing the rest, to make the change in style flow better, only to make this one just as out of character as the rest were.  I guess you really can’t force your muses to do anything you want. I like this chapter though, because it allows you to get more into the characters’ heads.   I don’t really know how to feel with this new development. But I guess I’ll just roll with it. I mean, even looking at my old Author’s Notes makes me go, eeeeeehhhh because of how different I am now.   Maybe this new development to my writing style really gives the idea of change to the story? I mean, I did state that everything changes after the car accident, so it shouldn’t be surprising that the characters are starting to change.   Another thing I would like to go over. Yes there will be some Karasu/Shin going on, but I’ll let you in on a secret. Karasu loves Shin… but the feeling is not mutual. I mean, COME ON! Shin has already given his heart to Sai. For that reason, I can’t help but pity the helpless Raven.   I’ll end on that note.   With love,
Mira

Chapter Notes:   Domo arigato – Thank you very much Dou itashimashite – You are welcome
