Initial D Fan Fiction ❯ At the Peak of Akagi ❯ One-Shot
"What are they doing here?" Kenta demanded as he watched an S13 and 180, complete with Akina Speedstars stickers, pull up on the peak of Akagi.
"They can't be here to challenge us." Keisuke said, a small trace of conceit tingeing the words.
"Iketani-senpai? Kenji-senpai?" Takumi murmured and wandered towards the cars.
Ryosuke smirked slightly. Takumi wasn't the type to be overly excited about anything, but it was obvious he was glad to see the other road racers from Akina. He watched as the Speedstars first and second got out of their cars. The first, Iketani, if Ryosuke remembered correctly, got out of his S13 at the same time as a passenger bound out of the car and made a beeline for Takumi.
"OI! Takumi!" Itsuki cried, before promptly giving the taller teen a punch to the head. "You were supposed to call me! Are we going to go to the beach or not?"
The other Redsuns, and members of Project D watched the goings on with wide, somewhat confused, eyes. Ryousuke had learned enough about Takumi to know that this was Itsuki, Takumi's best friend and very nearly perfect character foil. The Redsuns number one driver let the pair talk, not wanting to interrupt as Takumi went through cycles of annoyance and amusement at his friends actions. Takumi was never so simply /animated/ as he was when he was with Itsuki. But, best friends could do that to one another he supposed.
"I hope we're not intruding. Itsuki has been complaining about never seeing Takumi anymore and with our manager grinding us down for information about how Project D was doing, we decided to investigate on our own. I just hope we won't be in the way." Iketani explained, turning eager eyes on Ryosuke. A faint blush crawled up the man's scruffy cheeks. "Besides, even watching you guys drive might be a good thing for us." He scratched at the back of his head awkwardly. "We can't always rely on Takumi to protect Akina."
Iketani's eyes took on a hard glint. Ryousuke inclined his head in acknowledgement. It was quickly becoming obvious why these people were Takumi's friends. Itsuki was energetic, friendly and meant well. Iketani was proud, but not conceited, friendly and forgiving but not foolish. That left the one fidgeting in the background.
Kenji? Yes, Takumi had mentioned him. Obviously a Speedstars member. The one that had been mere seconds from battling Keisuke on Akina before they had seen Takumi race for the first time. He looked nervous and his eyes were raking over the other road racers, probably terrified at the prospect of being challenged to a battle by any of them. He lacked a good deal of self confidence, not to mention skill.
"That's fine." Ryosuke replied. "And I admire the fact that you feel no animosity towards us. Most people resent those with more talent or skills then they have themselves."
"Hopefully, one day I might have something close to the skills you do." Iketani retorted.
The glint in the other man's eyes was harder now. Iketani was a road racer and had that pride. Ryousuke had delivered a well meaning, but under handed blow. The older Takahashi brother managed not to smirk. He decided Iketani was a good type of person. And definitely one who's company he could enjoy.
"Iketani." Kenji's voice was a hiss and seemed annoyed as well as nervous.
"I don't see anything wrong with you getting driving tips or helping out with anyone on Project D or in the Redsuns." Ryousuke said, loud enough for it to carry among all the road racers that were gathered at the peak. As he knew they would, all eyes snapped to him in confusion. "Our plan is to represent the Gunma prefect after all, so using those resources and helping those in Gunma, is in our best interests. And we /are/ all friends here."
There was a moment of awkward silence as it became obvious that Iketani had tuned the Redsun's leader out and was watching Takumi's 86 purr behind him.
"Takumi?" Iketani said, turning to face the younger man.
"Uh? What's wrong Iketani-senpai?" Takumi asked. At the same moment Itsuki elbowed him in the stomach, demanding some sort of explanation for something.
"Did you change the grade of oil you're putting in the 86?" Iketani said, walking around Ryousuke and towards the Trueno.
"Yeah." Takumi said, quietly.
"You can tell that just by listening?" Kenta cut across the conversation, having inched his way closer to Ryousuke and Iketani to hear exactly what was being said.
"We've switched it to a synthetic that's better suited to the rally car engine. It runs cleaner." Keisuke replied.
"You're very knowledgeable about cars aren't you?" Ryosuke mused, having wandered over to stand next to the Trueno.
"I work at a gas stand[1]. It's my job." Iketani returned and tilted his ear towards the car.
Ryousuke smirked and raised an eyebrow.
"It wasn't Takumi's fault. He was just never interested." Kenji's voice cut across their conversation like a knife.
The nervousness was gone and he looked annoyed. He glared at both Ryousuke and Iketani. Almost seeming to challenge them to further besmirch Takumi. The challenge, and confidence was... attractive. Ryosuke shook the thought away. That was one of the reasons he had thrown himself so completely into the world of road racers. Thoughts like that lead to problems. He would just ignore those inconveniences and deal with what he enjoyed and had a passion for.
"Would you pop the hood on your S13? I want to have a look." Kenta said.
Ryousuke glared at Kenta for his impudence. The boy needed to learn to be more respectful. The youngest of the Redsuns had the good grace to look apologetic and flush at his own rudeness.
"I'd like to see what kind of improvements you've made." Kenta said and shifted on his feet.
"Not many, I can't afford much." Iketani replied. It was said casually but there was a hint of defiance to it. Daring the "rich" road racers to look down on him for such a thing. Although the majority of the Redsuns were well off, they could appreciate those that didn't have their financial backgrounds and managed to achieve a high level of skill.
"I understand." Kenta mumbled.
Iketani opened his mouth to say something then smiled and jerked his head in the direction of his car. He had caught the plain honesty in Kenta's voice and recognized it for what it was. Iketani was obviously a good judge of character. Iketani and Kenta quickly got into a long winded discussion about what types of suspension tuning and settings were best for the S13 and S14. Although their personalities were so different, it was obvious they could easily become friends with such a strong mutual interest.
Most of the Redsuns had dropped what they were doing and came over to listen to the exchange. There was little animosity between the Redsuns and the Speedstars. The Speedstars, as a team, were too good natured to hold a grudge. And the Redsuns felt that the Speedstars, aside from Takumi, were too far below their level of skill to be much of a concern. Iketani was merely showing what they lacked in experience, /he/ at least made up for in practical knowledge. Actually, he was nearly as knowledgeable about cars as Ryousuke was himself.
Ryousuke had to bite his tongue to stem the urge to ask Iketani for his opinion on the current settings of his FC. He rarely sought out advice when it came to his car but Iketani's quick responses to various and for the most part, difficult tuning questions made Ryousuke eager to see if the other man would agree with him. The FC driver was still mulling over the idea when he realized all conversation had stopped. Judging by the fact that the entire group was focused on Takumi there was only one conclusion to be reached. Takumi had, once again, illustrated his ignorance when it came to the mechanical aspect of cars. Iketani began speaking in a rush. A flustered effort to save face for his friend.
Ryousuke sighed. Some days Takumi's ignorance was more of a hurdle than he felt like dealing with. Such an amazing driving skill, only paralleled by his amazing deficit of knowledge. The older Takahashi brother shook his head and that was when Kenji caught his eye. Instead of being focused on the conversation Iketani was spearheading, Kenji was practically staring a hole through him. He was studying Ryousuke intently, his eyes strangely focused. And then their eyes locked.
The other road racer resembled a deer caught in the head lights. He was perfectly still. His eyes were wide and his mouth was just slightly agape. Ryousuke, without even thinking about it, gave Kenji a nod and then a small curve of his lips. A blush crept up the other man's cheeks but he returned the nod. Ryousuke felt all the blood in his body sing for a moment. It was like the anticipation before a battle.
Ryousuke dragged his eyes away and focused on Iketani. He wasn't sure how long he spent halfheartedly listening to the conversation going on around him. He just hoped everyone would notice time was working it's way into the wee hours of the morning and leave Akagi.
"Iketani-senpai." Itsuki said. "It's getting late and we have to open the Gas Stand tomorrow."
"Huh? OH! It is late!" Iketani declared as he glanced at his watch. "Come by the stand tomorrow Takumi, if you have the time. The Manager has been asking about you."
"OK." Takumi replied and shrugged. "I better get home so I can sleep. If I'm late with the delivery, that shitty old man[2] will get on my case."
"Then we'll meet here again on Tuesday. 10:00pm" Ryousuke said, relief washing over him now that everyone was leaving.
Ryousuke tried to avoid catching Kenji's eye. He felt a certain gnawing nervousness about what he might have acknowledged or even encouraged from the other road racer. Soon the mountain peak was filled with the rumbling of engines. Ryousuke shook away a certain sense of loss as he watched Kenji's 180 leave.
"Ryousuke?" Keisuke questioned.
"I'm going to stay here for a while Keisuke. Go home and rest. I feel the need to drive on Akagi." Ryousuke replied and leaned against his car.
He watched the rest of the road racers headlights trace their way down the mountain. Instead of getting into his car, Ryousuke wandered into the trees. He enjoyed the peace and quite left from the absence of so many people and rumbling engines. The only buzzing was the insects. He pulled a cigarette from his pocket and light up. He took a drag and let out the smoke to float around in the cool air.
The peace of the moment was short lived as the sound of a finely tuned engine pulled up. Ryousuke took a drag of his cigarette in annoyance. He just wanted some peace and quiet. He glared through the trees as the engine was cut. Kenji came into view a moment later. The Speedstar member scanned the trees, then looked back at Ryousuke's FC.
Kenji began to slowly walk towards him and Ryousuke realized his lit cigarette had revealed his hiding spot. The brunette tilted his head to the side and regarded Ryousuke. He was standing a few feet away. The younger man's posture was nervous, but his eyes were clear. The FC driver was unsure of what to do now so he did the only logical thing he could think of, he offered Kenji his lit cigarette. Kenji shook his head.
"I don't smoke."
"How odd. Most of the road racers I know do." Ryousuke replied and leaned casually against the trunk of a tree.
"Well, I don't. Besides, your father is a doctor. You should know better." Kenji stated flatly.
"I should." Ryousuke echoed.
Whether it was agreement or not seemed to escape even Ryousuke, but he still dropped the cigarette to the ground and crushed it under his shoe. The skittish man took two small steps closer to Ryousuke, putting him nearly within arm's reach. He was more diplomatic than his young brother, Keisuke, but he wasn't the type to tiptoe around an issue. Ryousuke moved in and took what was being discretely offered. He grabbed Kenji and pulled him into a kiss. The other man recoiled a bit as Ryousuke shoved his tongue into the 180 driver's mouth. Ryousuke almost laughed. The taste of tobacco was probably even more repulsive to a non-smoker but he held Kenji's face to his and continued explore the sharp edges of the other man's teeth.
Kenji began returning the kiss with enthusiasm, finally having adjusted to the taste of tobacco. The younger man's hands buried themselves into Ryousuke's hair. With Ryousuke sure that would not break off the kiss, he let his hands wander and maneuvered them so Kenji's back was pressed against the tree trunk. He slipped his hands down to cup Kenji's ass and picked him up. Whether it was instinct or experience that wrapped the Speedstar team member's legs around his hips, Ryousuke really didn't care. What he did care about was that it allowed him to more easily grind his erection against Kenji.
It felt good to grind against him, but it was frustrating as well. Especially with Kenji trying to increase the contact without any leverage to work with. His hips trying to jerk against Ryousuke's and grind against him as roughly as Ryousuke was grinding the other man into the tree. The 180 driver's hands were pawing and pinching at him. Finding their way up his shirt and running uneven nails over lust sensitized skin. It wasn't enough.
Ryousuke forced Kenji's legs down from his waist and the pair fumbled to undo the flies to their pants. They both were panting by this point. Ryousuke impatiently forced Kenji's pants down, nearly taking the boxers with them. Kenji had popped two buttons on his shirt and was greedily sucking on his shoulder. Ryousuke grunted but didn't comment on the mark that was going to be left there. He could easily cover it with clothing and he didn't want to discourage the other man from touching him in anyway. Ryousuke maneuvered the boxers down and wrapped his hand around Kenji. The pinned man responded with a breathy moan as he threw his head back.
Kenji fumbled, but managed to get Ryousuke's pants undone. They tangled around his ankles as Kenji's hands ran over bare thighs. The younger man was too intent on returning the sensations that Ryousuke was causing, to comment on the fact that Redsuns member wasn't wearing any underwear. Ryousuke brushed the other's hands aside, then wrapped his hand around both his erection and Kenji's.
"And your hand." Ryousuke groaned.
Kenji wrapped his hand around them and began to rock his hips. Ryousuke tightened his hand to just the right grip and began thrusting. The 180 driver's head fell forward to rest on Ryousuke's shoulder. He rubbed his forehead on there and stifled moans by biting his lip. The older Takahashi brother clenched his eyes shut and pressed his nose into Kenji's hair. The small gasping sounds coming from the other man were driving him insane. He wanted the breathing jerkier and louder. Ryousuke wanted it to fill his ears like the sound of an engine usually did. He wanted the whole world to disappear for that moment. And it did, or seemed to for Kenji, who threw his head back with moan.
Ryousuke nearly growled but the hot fluid all over his hand mixed with the thrusting made up for the fact that the other man had given in so easily. Kenji clenched his hand just a little tighter and bit down on Ryousuke's shoulder. That was all it took before Ryousuke came. He kissed the Speedstars member on the cheek and gnawing at the flesh there as lightly as he could manage. Ryousuke stumbled forward slightly and tried to catch himself on a branch. The young branch broke and he fell forward into Kenji, who caught him around the waist.
They stood there together for a few minutes, neither doing more than breathing. Ryousuke closed his eyes and relaxed for a moment. He completely ignored the fact that he was limp against Kenji and had his head resting underneath the other man's chin in one of the most submissive posses he had ever taken on in his entire life. Kenji was stroking his back and brushing his lips over the top of Ryousuke's dark hair.
It must have been uncomfortable for the other man but it was Ryousuke who broke the contact by pulling away. Ryousuke quickly made himself as presentable as he could. Kenji fumbled to do the same. The 180 driver didn't look at Ryousuke, merely hauled his pants up and tucked his shirt in.
"I have to go home now."
Was all that Kenji said before turning and sprinting to his Nissan. Ryousuke could only watch him go. He heard the sound of the 180 rocket starting, tires screaming on the asphalt. Ryousuke could have easily caught Kenji with his FC but he wasn't sure if he wanted to. He wasn't sure if /Kenji/ wanted him to.
Ryousuke raked a hand through his hair then let out an annoyed sigh. He had just managed to make his life and his favorite distraction, very complicated.
[1] They always refer to it as a gas station in the fansubs I have but the characters say gas stand so I'm just being difficult here ^_^
[2] I can't count the number of times Takumi calls him that but it makes me giggle every time. I honestly couldn't resist.
