Prolog
She looked at the shards of glass scattered about the ground. It reminded her of her life each shard on the ground was one memory. Choosing a particularly sharp one she put it to her arm and slowly, so to make the pain last, she cut. Liquid, blood, the elixir of life slowly collected around the cut and a single drop was formed. Gradually it fell to the ground.
Why don't they realize the pain I am in?
She took the shard and again cut.
Do I want them to notice?
It splashed to the floor near the other one and slowly the crimson drop moved and joined to the other in sadistic harmony.
Why won't the pain stop?
Soon tears to joined the array of blood.
Why…why did he have to die?
As the tears fell from her face to the floor it watered down the blood creating the illusion of there being more blood then there really was.
WHY WON'T IT STOP?
Getting frustrated with the pain that was taking her mine off of everything but the thought of his death, which still lingered in the back of her mind eating away at her guilty conscious.
I…I just want to forget… forget everything
Taking the shard one final time she sliced from her wrist to up about three inches. The pain was incredible and before long she past out and hit the ground with a sickening thud devoted of all life
...Now…now I can forget… everything.
About an hour later a women with short black hair and warm chocolate brown eyes came in with a smile that seemed to be plastered to her face, like a permanent tattoo. It was wiped clear off her face as she walked into her daughters room too see a mass of black hair framed by a puddle of blood. She let out a blood-curling scream and ran out to the living room.
She fumbled with the phone a bit and finally called 911. "Mamma what's wrong." asked the scared voice of a little girl. She was wearing a sundress that was blue plaid, with hints of yellow strung in there. Her hair was black and went down to her waist, pin straight and not a wave to be seen. Her eyes weren't a warm chocolate brown but a cold even menacing brown.
Seeing her mother wasn't going to answer her she walked into her sister's room. What she saw disgusted her. The sight of blood had always made her stomach churn. After a few minutes of watching her intently she was forcefully shoved out of the way. A few men came rushing in and carefully picked up her sister. They turned her on her back and checked her pulse they let out a little sigh of relief. And slowly picked her up bridle style.
Now that her hair was out of her face it reveled a pail girl who looked a lot like her sister. Her hair was shorter but it was still black. She also wore a sundress but hers was a dark green with orange flowers on them and every flower had a gold trim that surrounded it.
As they picked her up her head fell limply back. Though it was low she moaned in pain. After a few moments they had her on a stretcher and were taking her into the ambulance. The older woman was standing at the door biting her nails. "Don't worry Ms. Higerashi she'll be fine." all she did in response was nod. Carefully they placed the stretcher into the ambulance and drove away.
"Mamma-"she was cut off.
"Please Kikyo just don't speak to me right now." Kikyo stomped out of the living room and into her room. She slammed the door behind her. A few of her pictures that hung on her wall shook from the force. She ran to her bed and buried her face in her pillow.
"I hate her… I hate Kagome…" Kikyo screamed into the pillow.
It was about a week later that Ms. Higerashi had gotten a call from the hospital saying that Kagome could finally come home and they suggested that Kagome see someone who could help her with her problem. Even with that suggestion Kagome never got the help that she needed. She continued to inflict pain upon herself but she was more careful now. She never let anyone know what she did. To hide the scabs and scars of previous time that she cut she would wear arm stockings.
She wore an emotional mask it to her it was like a game, she could never let anyone know who was really under the mask. Her friends never noticed well all but Miroku. They had known each other for far to long for her mask to fool him.
It was a Saturday afternoon. They were walking back to Kagome's after two hours of sparing practice. Kagome had become caption of the freshmen sparing team Miroku was co caption.
Miroku was finally going to confront her about her problem. They walked into the house and upstairs. As soon as they got into the room Kagome plopped down on her bed. "Man I hurt in places that I didn't even know I had." she moaned. All Miroku did was nod. She looked up from were she was lying, he had a determined look on his face. She had a feeling that he knew what she had been doing but she wasn't going to jump to conclusions, best to play dumb for now. "Hey is there something-" she was cut off by Miroku.
"Why Kagome why do you do it?" he questioned. In that instant she knew that he knew, her heart seemed to stop beating and her breath caught in her throat.
"W-what are you talking about?" she stuttered, still hoping wishing that he didn't know her dirty little secret.
"Stop playing dumb, stop with the act and the mask that you wear around, flaunting like some precious jewel." He said in an eerily calm voice. "Why do you cut, does it cause you joy to hurt yourself, or do you like to see how long you can keep the act up before your discovered?"
"I…I" Was all she could get out, before she started crying. "It's my fault" she whispered.
He calmed a bit at the sight of her crying. He walked over and pulled her into a hug, in a poor attempt to calm her down. "What's your fault."
"He's dead and its my fault." She cried harder. He knew exactly what she was talking about now.
" No Kagome it isn't your fault." She pulled away angrily as if burnt by his touch.
"YES it is." She screamed luckily no one was home to hear the echoing outburst.
"Why is your fault explain it to me so that I can understand where your coming from." he said calmly.
"… We were all ushered into the corner of the store… a few cops came in… then I heard gunshots… he took my hand and began to run… my hand slipped out from his … and I stood frozen in fear… the cop was shooting at the running man with the ski mask… and he was coming toward me followed by bullets… dad got up and ran in front of me trying to get me to move…. I wouldn't and then there was blood… he had been shot… if I had just moved…" She sobbed uncontrollably.
"Kagome its not your fault… and you need to understand that…" he rocked her back and forth like he would a baby. " Kagome I'm sorry to say this but… you need help…" she nodded she had known that for a while. "And you need to tell you mother" again she nodded. "Come on." he stood and helped her up.
They went into the kitchen and grabbed the phone book. They began looking for a place were she could get help. About an hour later Ms. Higerashi came in with her hands full of shopping bags. "Hey guys. What are you doing."
"Mom I have to show you something" she said in a timid unsure voice. She pulled down her arm stockings and showed her mom what she had been doing. She turned her head away and listened to her gasp. Ms. Higerashi ran out of the room and came back with a paper.
" They told me that you might need help…. I didn't believe them, here they gave me a number to call. It's a hospital for… abnormal people with problems. Please go Kagome I want you to be better" She said in a sort of dazed way. They took the number and dialed it.
"Hello Sea Side Springs how may I help you?" asked a feminine voice. 'Oh my they make it sound like some sort of vacation get away.'
"Umm… I am Kagome Higerashi-"
"Yes we were recommended you from… St. Kathryn Hospital a few weeks ago. If you'd like we could send over a car to get you."
"Umm… sure."
"Ok we will be over in about an hour. Please be ready to go when we get there." 'An hour isn't that a bit soon?' She questioned to herself disappointed with not being able to say goodbye to all of her friends.
"Ok" she said and hung up. They looked at her expectantly. "They are going to come and pick me up in an hour." She answered their unasked question.
They nodded, Miroku looked crestfallen at loosing his friend. "Come on I'll help you pack up." she nodded at Miroku and they walked upstairs. They began packing things and of course Miroku went into her underwear dour. This made her mad but she eventually laughed at his antics of trying to cheer her up.
An hour had gone by way to fast and it was now time for Kagome to go. There was a knock on the door and Kagome answered it. "Hello my name is Kate." She was a perky red head who's hair barely brushed against her waist. She had beautiful emerald green eyes that had a hint of gold added to them. "You must be Kagome" All she did was nod to this way to perky girl. " Well then we mustn't waist anytime." She said though she sounded happy her eyes gave her away. She seemed to have felt bad for Kagome.
"Ok… bye mom…. Bye Miroku." She lackadaisically hugged her mom but didn't seem to have any problems hugging Miroku. "I'll miss you." She said more to Miroku then to her mother. She knew why her mother had never said anything about what the doctors had said… she was humiliated by her own daughter. She walked out with Kate and got into the car and waved good bye to the life that she used to know as the car drove away from the house.

Its not much different then the original, mostly fixed the fact that there was no capitals every time some one talked. ^_^
