Chapter Twenty

She’s too young to be a… (gulp) mother!!!

Last time:

“OMG I can’t believe that we did this. This is so much fun.” Bulma said as she reapplied her make-up in the mirror.

“Yeah I’m glad we did this too.” she shouted out from the stall, while peeing on the pregnancy test. She then placed it on the toilet paper dispenser and waited patiently.

“Well anyway... what’s with you lately? You hardly respond to any—”

Five minutes had passed and Chi-chi blocked out her words as she read the results. “Oh my God...”

“What is it?”

She came out the stall with the test in her hand. “Um...guys...I think I might be pregnant.”

***^~~~***^~~~

“What do you mean by that? Why is a pregnancy test in your hand?” Eighteen demanded, snatching it from her hands to read for herself.

Chi-chi shrugged, “I’ve been sick a lot lately and I was late so... I figured I should find out for sure before I assumed things.”

Kagome walked up to her, “What did it say?”

She sighed with a shaky breath, “It’s positive.”

Bulma did a double-take, “Positive? As in…You’re pregnant?”

“Yeah. I’m fucking pregnant.” She said dejectedly as she leaned against the wall.

Sango shook her head, then muttered, “That can’t be—”

“Yeah it’s fucking positive…” Eighteen said with a vivid curse.

Sango took it from Eighteen’s hand and read it, then suggested hopefully, “It could be a false-positive…that happens sometimes!”

Chi-chi looked at her friend with a small bit of hope then that hope fled, “No. It’s ninety-nine point nine percent accurate Sango…fuck—what am I going to do? I don’t know anything about being a mother...and what about Goku—he just got accepted to TSU the starting point of his football career...And what about this baby? She or he is going to have dumb ass parents—”

Sango patted her back as she cried, “You’re not dumb Chi—”

“Yes the hell she is. Look I’m sorry but I never and I mean never had sex without some kind of contraception.” Eighteen said as she leaned against a stall.

Kagome glared at her, “You’re such a bitch Eighteen! She doesn’t need that right now.”

“Look I’m sorry Chi—I love you like a sister I never had but that was a dumbass move!”

“Don’t you think I know that already?! My entire life is ruined! Not to mention Goku’s!” she cried out, tears streaming down her face.

“It’ll be ok Chi—you’ll see!” Kagome said, comfortingly.

“I hope so!” She had never felt so downtrodden before. It was so…depressing.

Bulma frowned then hugged her friend and said, “But in the meantime…what are you going to do?”

She looked into the mirror without really seeing it and said, “I don’t know…”

“This can’t come at a worse time. She’s going through so much with her father and now this?”

Chi-chi looked at her best friend then said, “I’m in the room Sango, don’t talk as if I’m not here!”

She smiled sheepishly, “Sorry.”

“This has got to be the cruelest joke nature has ever pulled. Why now? Out of all the times you guys did it…why now?”

“I don’t know—I don’t know anything! All I know is that my future—and Goku’s—is rather fucking bleak right now. Oh God…Goku…he just got that scholarship! I’m ruining his life if I have this baby!”

Eighteen looked at her friend and saw that she was quite serious, “You don’t really believe that. Do you?”

Chi-chi sighed deeply, “I don’t fucking know! Everything is fucked up now. He might leave me if he found out…”

“You know he won’t do that! He loves you way too much to do that to you Chi-chi… And plus Vegeta would kick his ass if he tried.”

“Inuyasha would too.” Kagome said gathering her in her arms as she sobbed.

“So would Miroku.”

“And I would kick his ass too.” Eighteen said as they all had a group hug.

She sighed, feeling the comfort but also in serious panic-mode. “This is too much for him guys—it’s too much for me! I mean…I’m just getting back on speaking terms with my Dad and getting to know my siblings and step-mom—my life is changing too fucking fast for me to handle anything right now—not to mention a baby! I know he won’t be able to deal with this. He’s trying his best to be there for me with my dad-situation but…I don’t know…a baby seems a little too much for him. It’ll break him…I can’t tell him.”

“No it won’t. He’s remarkably strong. You know he is. And he loves the hell out of you! What do you mean you can’t tell him—he’s the father! You can’t not tell him! He has a right to know and he’ll help you decide what to do.”

“I know. I know, I know all of that but…”

“But nothing…”

There was a knocking on the door then Vegeta shouted, “Girls?! Are ya’ll alright?”

Bulma rushed over to the door and opened it partially then said, “Yeah…Chi-chi’s a little drunk and is in the process of throwing up all the contents of her stomach.”

“Ugh…” he said in disgust, “so no more drinks for her. Are there anymore of you puking in there?”

She shook her head, “Nope—just Chi-chi.”

He made a face then replied, “Well leave her ass in there and come out already—should teach her not to consume so much.”

“Shut up Veggie!” Eighteen shouted, still hugging Chi-chi.

He grew angry then shouted, “I’m not above kicking a girls ass—you’re sorely testing me! I told you never to call me that again!”

“What’s Veggie gonna do if I do?” Eighteen taunted back.

“Babe—Baby give us a few more minutes. Alright?” she said, then kissed him tenderly, trying to calm him.

It worked, “Hurry up! There are a lot of girls pouching on your territory you know.”

Bulma grew incensed herself then said in warning, “If they know what’s wise for them they better keep their hands to themselves! That goes for the guys too.”

He chuckled, “I love it when you get like this…”

“Alright, alright—you have to go…Vegeta do me a favor before you go…”

He rolled his eyes then replied, “What now? It better not involve going out into that chick-fest out there.”

“No not that…Just—don’t let the guys know Chi-chi’s under the weather…oh and order me a drink would ya?”

He sighed then asked, “What’s your poison?”

She kissed his lips again then replied, “Vodka straight up.”

He arched a brow, “Since when you drink straight up Vodka?”

“Since now—Now go!”

“Bossy female…alright you owe me. Big time.”

She smiled brightly, “I always do. Now take one for the team and do as I say.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah wench…” He then walked away from the door and out into the crowd which in seconds swallowed him whole.

“Do you think he overheard us?” Chi-chi fearfully asked.

“I doubt it. His primate brain wouldn’t think to do so.” Eighteen said, examining her nails.

“HEY!!! That’s my man you’re talkin bout! If you don’t stop insulting him—we’re going to have a problem!”

“We already have a problem—Chi-chi’s pregnancy! But alright I’ll lay off. But jeez you guys sure can dish it but you can’t take the heat!”

“And what do you mean by that?” Sango asked, crossing her arms.

“I mean you trash-talk Krillin all the time but when I talk—”

“Focus here! Chi-chi’s near a breakdown!” Kagome shouted, halting the would-be argument.

Bulma stopped her tirade then said, “Sorry…”

Chi-chi shook her head, “No—I’m just numb—just numb.” She then paused and said, “And I’m gonna puke again!!!” she then ran into the stall and hurriedly lifted the stole and emptied her stomach.

“Ok in the meantime what are we gonna do for the entire weekend? We can’t possibly do half the things we planned.”

“Yes we can! I’m pregnant not invalid! If it’s too much for me then I’ll sit it out and you guys would go ahead without me.” She shouted out.

Kagome looked at her then asked, “Are you sure that’s what you want?”

Chi-chi sighed, “…it doesn’t matter what I want anymore—it’s the way it is now…”

“It doesn’t have to be.”

“Yes it does…”

Sango sighed then said, “Ok…here’s what we’ll do—we’ll all take turns keeping you company.”

“You don’t have to do that…” she said as she emerged out of the stall.

Bulma smiled then said, “No…we don’t—but we will.”

“You guys are the best! I’m so lucky to have you all in my life.”

“That’s what friends do—be there for each other.” Kagome said as she gave her a playfully noogie.

“C’mon we have to split…last I heard the guys were getting hit on by a mob of girls.” Bulma said as she opened the door to go out.

“They had better not have touched my man!” Kagome said, pushing Bulma out the way.

“Damn somebody has trust issues!” Bulma grumbled in response.

Eighteen gave her a droll look then asked, “Do you blame her—with their history?”

“True that…” Bulma said as they entered the club. The first thing they saw was Inuyasha pulling Kagome off a helpless girl, her clothes disheveled from what appeared to be a fight. “Damn we missed all the fireworks!”

“I doubt that’ll be the last fight here.” Sango said as she watched Miroku getting hit on. She then excused herself and went toward the flirting duo. And for the first time they saw her fight.

Eighteen grinned, very impressed, “She was right.”

“We had better get out of here…”

~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~Later that night: In Tenseiga Hotel… ~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~
After a whole day of fun in the sun the group went to their rooms. Not knowing what to do Chi-chi asked if Bulma and Sango could room with her for the night. She didn’t trust herself not to tell him what she had just discovered and she was so not ready to reveal that to him just yet. The guys as expected threw a temper tantrum but none-the-less let them spend the night in her room. Chi-chi watched her friends drift off to sleep then stayed up thinking about the baby— Goku’s reaction to said baby and what it would feel like to be a mom… before she knew it hours had passed and so had her panic about becoming a mother.
“Bulma!” Chi-chi whispered, “BULMA!”
Bulma peeked at her friend then grumbled, “Seriously?! I just went to sleep!”
“Sorry…I just can’t sleep right now and I need to talk about it or I’ll go crazy!” Chi-chi sat up a little then sighed in relief when Bulma stayed awake.
“Yeah I get that—sometimes I’m like that too…” she then sighed and rolled to face her, “So what do you want to talk about?”
“Ok…this is crazy…I know it is but…I’m thinking of keeping it.”
She sat up then, and then said, “But I thought you didn’t want it.”
“I wasn’t sure if I did—at first. But then I thought about the effects of abortion might have on a person and I don’t want that to happen to me! Nor do I want to give it up to some stranger—It’ll be inside me for nine months…me talking to it, getting to know it as it grows…so I thought I may as well keep it. Because I know how I am—I would grow attached. And for me to give up my baby…I must be detached—and I just can’t be that way.” She then sighed and smiled, “I’ve been thinking of some baby names…and what he or she would look like…” she then began tearing up, “and I can’t imagine not having him—or not knowing him.”
Bulma smiled, liking the way her friend looked in that moment, “Him huh? You decided it was a boy?”
She smiled shakily as she rubbed her stomach then said, “Well…I’m not sure how I know but I think it’s going to be a boy.”
“So…what would his name be?” Bulma asked, sitting up.
“Gohan Son…” Chi-chi said softly, still rubbing her stomach affectionately.
Bulma’s brows furrowed in thought then asked, “What made you think of that name?”
“Well…Goku confided in me one night. Told me his Grandpa Gohan had raised him from the time he was a baby until the time he was five—he died on Goku’s fifth birthday. And from then on he was in the system. He was pretty much tossed around year after year until his mom adopted him. And the rest is history.”
“Wow…Vegeta never confided in me like that.” She then sighed and smiled, “I bet that’ll please him. And if it happens to be a girl?”
“Kasumi. After my mom…”
Bulma then grinned evilly, “And what if it’s twins?”
“Don’t you dare wish that on me!”
Bulma then began to cackle as Chi-chi began hitting her with a feathered pillow, “What?! It’s a legitimate question!”
She stopped hitting her then shrugged then said, “IDK…I’ll figure it out when the time comes I guess.”
“In other words you don’t have a clue.”
Chi-chi looked her in the eye then replied, “Not one.”
They both laughed hard and it lasted a while, Bulma was the first one to sober up. “Are you scared?”
Chi-chi sighed then replied honestly, “Terrified. But I know it’ll be ok.”
“Yeah…it will be…” she then paused then asked, “In all the time you were thinking…did you think of who were going to be godparents to the little guy or girl?”
Chi-chi tossed another pillow then said, “No I have not!!!”
“It should be me…” she said in a singsong voice.
“We should go back to sleep…it’ll be dawn soon.”
She nodded then said, “Yeah—and whose fault is it that I’m up anyway?” she then answered her own question, “Yours!”
Chi-chi grinned then went back to sleep, finally feeling a lot better about her future.
~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~The next morning: At the check-out desk… ~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~

“When are you going to tell him?” Sango whispered as they helped her pack her things.

Chi-chi sighed then shoved things—expensive things—into the bags. “I don’t know…but not today—I’m not ready…”

Bulma took over by taking clothes from her hands and started packing for her, “Well you’re going to have to tell him before you start to show…”

“I know that…I just need time now that I know I’m going to keep him.”

Sango looked at her in bewilderment then asked, “You’re going to keep the baby?”

“Yeah…I’m keeping Gohan.” She said as she rubbed her abdomen affectionately.

“Gohan? Who’s Gohan?” Sango asked, utterly clueless.

“Her son. She’s convinced it’s a boy in there.” Bulma said as she grabbed more of Chi-chi’s clothes. “I think it might be twins…”

“C’mon! Don’t say that!” she said laughingly, throwing a pillow at her.

“I’m lost…when did this all go down? Last I checked you didn’t want it.”

Chi-chi turned toward her friend then pointed out with humor, “I never said I didn’t want him…I was just scared and I didn’t—and still don’t—know Goku’s mind frame about any of this. He might go ballistic or he might be really happy or non-caring.”

“I honestly believe he would be ecstatic.” Sango said, “Sure it’s earlier than he thought it would be but Miroku told me that Goku always wanted a family of his own.”

“Or he might go ballistic!” Bulma said, then she noticed Chi-chi’s hurt expression and retracted instantly, “But then again what do I know? Goku probably would be over the moon!”

Chi-chi sighed then said, “I certainly hope so.”

~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~Three weeks later: At Northern High… ~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~
Chi-chi had scheduled her first check-up as a pregnant person a week ago and she was overjoyed. Not only was her baby healthy but she was definitely not having any twins. She was at least two months along and four at the most. She sighed and looked at her clueless boyfriend and wanted so badly to tell him but she was too scared. And there was also no opportunity to tell him. He had football practice and since he was doing well in math they no longer studied together. And they also had little time alone since the Miko concert.
She sighed miserably, “What am I going to do? How am I going to tell him.”
Kagome heard her then asked, “You still haven’t told anyone? Not even your father?”
“No I haven’t…they’re the two people I can’t seem to tell…Dad’s busy all the time and Goku…” Chi-chi sighed then shrugged, “well Goku’s Goku.”
“I hate to point this out but you’re beginning to show…everybody’s noticed and believe me Chi-chi—there’s talk.”
“What are they saying?” she asked, crossing her arms under her breasts.
Kagome shook her head then said rapidly, “It doesn’t matter—all that matters is that you tell them before they get wind of it from someone else.”
“It’s too hard Kags! I wish it wasn’t but it is…”
“You have to tell them Chi-chi and soon!” And with that Kagome walked away.
~~~***^~~~***^~~~Later that night: At the King’s Residence~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~

Hours after their talk Chi-chi had went home with a very unsure countenance, she entered the house, putting her keys in the key bowl and called out, “Dad are you home?”

“Yeah I’m in my study…”

She went straight there but stopped only a moment to gather courage. “Dad... I have something to tell you...”

“What is it Chi?”

“This is so hard to say...” she said, tears running down her cheeks, “Dad...I’m so sorry...”

Her father looked at her then asked, “What’s going on Chi?!”

“I—I—I’m pregnant dad.”

His dark eyes flamed with rage, “Where is he?!”

Her eyes widened, “Dad…no…he doesn’t know yet—”

Ox’s eyes looked like they wanted to bulge out of his head. “What the fuck do you mean he doesn’t know yet?!”

“He doesn’t know. I just found out—I hadn’t had a chance to tell him.”

“How could you Chi?! You were supposed to be the exception!”

“I know. I know Dad, I’m sorry.”

He slammed his fist down on the table then yelled, “How could you be so stupid?!”

Chi-chi took a step back then stammered, “I’m not stupid!!! I may be pregnant but I’m not stupid!”

“What the hell are you going to do with a baby Chi-chi? HUH? Tell me!”

She raised her chin, knowing he was trying to intimidate her, “I’ll raise him—that’s what I’ll do.”

“No you’re going to get rid of that thing!”

Thing?!” she then placed a protective hand over her still flat stomach and growled, “He’s not a thing! He’s a child!”

“He’s an abomination! You need to have an abortion…quickly.”

She gasped, hurt beyond anything she had ever felt, “I can’t believe you said that.”

“Damn right I said it! You just ruined any chance you had at a future—and what am I supposed to do? Be happy? Pretend that I want you to have it when I know if you do you’ll ruin your dreams and the life we dreamed for you!”

“I don’t care what you do! OK I can handle this kid on my own—I don’t need you or anybody!”

“No you can’t. Having a kid is hard work and you are young, impulsive and irresponsible—you wouldn’t know the first thing about raising a child Chi-chi—hell you’re still a child!”

She shook her head, “No matter what you say—I’m not having an abortion nor am I giving up my baby—he means everything to me and just because he wasn’t planned doesn’t mean I don’t love him. I’m keeping him—whether you like it or not!”

“You better tell him. Tonight.”

She glared at her father then asked daringly, “Oh yeah? Why should I?”

“So he’ll know why I’m killing him!”

She narrowed her eyes at him then said meaningfully, “You lay a hand on him and you’ll wish you were the one dead!” she then marched out the house and slammed the door behind her.

~~~***^~~~***^~~~Later that night: At Shikon park…~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~
Chi-chi had drove to the park to clear her head and to think. When she sat on the swing set for over an hour she realized she couldn’t hide the truth from him anymore—it wasn’t because her dad was right but because she knew she had limited time left and she needed to do it quickly before she lost her nerve completely. She had called him to meet her over an hour ago; she wanted the hour to get her thoughts together and to find a way to maybe ease the blow—she came up with nothing. Now Goku was making his way to her and her heart began pounding hard as he came closer and closer to where she had sat.
“Hey babe!” he said in greeting.
She smiled a little when he brushed her cheek with a soft kiss. “Hey…”
“So what are we doing out here?”
Tears were forming in her eyes before she realized it at the thought of him possibly leaving her and she hurried and said, “Goku…there’s something I need to tell you…”
Goku took in her shaken appearance and replied reassuringly, “What is it? What’s wrong—whatever it is we can fix it.”
“Not this…” she sniffled almost about to burst into tears again.
He placed a hand on her shoulder then said comfortingly, “What are you talking about? Yes we can—”
“Goku trust me…this cannot be fixed. Ok.” she said tearfully, turning away from him. “You’ve got to understand that I never meant to trap you…at all…in fact I want the opposite—”
His dark brows furrowed in thought and he asked worriedly, “Chi, what are you—”
She took a shaky breath and turned to face him, “Maybe I should just say it…Goku…I’m about four months pregnant.” After a few moments of silence had passed, she couldn’t bear it and had demanded, “Well what are you thinking?”
He blinked as if trying to clear his thoughts then stuttered, “A-A-Are you sure?”
She sighed and replied, “Yes I’m sure. I’m pregnant.”
His eyes widened then he replied, “I-I-I…I gotta go...”
“Goku wait!!! Please don’t leave! We have to talk about this!” she cried, her heart breaking at the sight of his retreating back. She sobbed as the pain doubled, tripled, quadrupled…into the most agonizing pain she ever felt. “I knew this would happen…I knew it!”
***^~~~***^~~~
Twenty minutes later Goku was pacing the front room in his house not really sure how he got there. All he knew was that he felt a tight fist clenching his heart, making it hard to breathe. How could this happen? He had been careful with her every time—well not that one time apparently. He started to panic, his skin felt too tight, his heart was threatening to beat out his chest while paining him, and it was unbearably hot. His mom walked in then and asked him a question and he barely heard her—which never happened. He was always in tune with her.
“Mom… I don’t know what to do… I’m not ready for this…” He rambled, shaking.
“What’s going on Goku? What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
“It’s Chi-chi…She’s…oh my God…she’s…” he trailed off then began pacing again.
Miroku looked at his brother with concern, never seeing his usually bubbly brother so frazzled. “What about her?”
“What’s going on Goku?” Inuyasha asked, also sensing something was off.
“She’s pregnant with my baby that’s what’s going on Inuyasha! Four months pregnant!” Goku said sharply, still pacing, while pulling at his hair.
“How could you do this Goku? You just got accepted into TSU...” his mother demanded hotly, flailing her arms around.
He shook his head, “Damn all that—”
“What do you mean damn all—Goku this is your future we are talking about! How could you be so careless? And since when were you having sex?!”
“That’s none of your business and I’m not careless! I realize that my future is on the line—but I also can’t abandon her! Not like how my real parents did me!” he snapped loudly, his frustration only building because he had no clue what to do about this.
Izoyi sighed placed a hand on his shoulder then said, “Goku—”
He shook her hand away then muttered, “Look I gotta go…I have to clear my head—I just…gotta go. I’ll be back later.”
~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~The next morning: At Northern High… ~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~

Chi-chi couldn’t really eat much because she was so upset, but knew she had to if she wanted their child to survive. So she ate her breakfast slowly, only because it was what was good for the baby. She sighed and took another bite and wanted to retch it all up. She missed him. So much at this moment she felt like crying. Where was he, why won’t he pick up the phone or answer her text messages? Why did he abandon her? Those questions plagued her mind over and over until she no longer wanted to think. Her friends—the ones who always had been there sat beside her and saw just how upside-down her world was.

“So what happened when you told him?” Bulma asked, knowing that it couldn’t be good if she was foregoing on food.

And low and behold the flood came. “He ran…like I knew he would.” She said as tears ran down her face.

Kagome and Sango said in unison, “That bastard!”

“He ran away? That doesn’t sound like Goku…” Eighteen said, as she sat down beside her.

Chi-chi wiped her eyes then admitted, “He walked away then…but he still left me sitting there! I have my answer…I’m going it alone.”

“He’s still in shock Chi…! Just give him a minute to process this.” Bulma said calmingly, “You had time to deal with all of this—he hasn’t. And it’s not just you in this—like it or not he’s the father so that means he’s involved too.”

“I love that he’s the father of my child—it’s just the fact that I told him—like everyone has been telling me to and the time I do…he bails!”

“Again—he’s in shock! Let him deal with this…”

“He didn’t call me last night…I don’t know anything about how he’s feeling about all this…it’s driving me crazy not knowing anything!!!” she said as she sobbed. The girls hugged her and murmured encouraging things to her but it still felt…all wrong.

“Just give him some time.” Bulma said as she hugged her.

Chi-chi looked at her friend with red-rimmed eyes then demanded, “How much time should I give him—until the baby comes?!”

“Until he comes to you…”

“Who knows when that is!” she sobbed out, soaking Sango’s shirt in the process. “I’ll probably have the baby when that happens.”

“No you won’t…he’ll do the right thing. You said yourself Goku’s a great guy and great guys don’t abandon their families.” Bulma said sensibly

Chi-chi frowned and nodded, knowing she was right. Goku would be a great dad too…if only she were sure he would stick around. She sighed then gave into the tears again. No one knew how to calm her—and that was one thing they couldn’t understand—she needed comfort and calming from Goku—who was too busy avoiding her to do so.

***^~~~***^~~~

Goku looked at her from afar, still trying to get a grip on reality. Chi-chi obviously wanted him to be there with her but he just couldn’t—at least not right now. He sighed, hating that she was hurting—especially if he was the one responsible. He couldn’t really believe she was pregnant. He sighed, there were signs of it but he was so clueless that it never occurred to him that she was pregnant! He thought back and shook his head at his stupidity…her feinting spells, her vomiting, her mood-swings…all signs of a pregnant woman. He cursed vehemently, wanting to comfort her but knowing he had to deal with his feelings first or else risk losing her. He was the kind to wear his heart out on his sleeve—so if he went to her now she would know he was angry, scared, and clueless.

“Go to her you fool…” Vegeta said, suddenly appearing beside him.

He shook his head, “It’s not that easy.”

“Make it that easy—because if you don’t…I’ll kick your ass.”

“I’m not ready to face her! I need time to deal with this shit!”

“She’s right there…” Vegeta said pointing toward her and her friend, “…pouring her fucking eyes out, not sure if you’re coming back to her! What kind of asshole let’s his female feel like she did something wrong when it was partially his fault too?”

“What if it were you in my place?” Goku demanded, “Would you give up everything you worked for over a kid you don’t know?”

“Man-up Goku! Chi-chi’s the best damn thing that’s ever happened to you and you’re worried over that scholarship? Fuck that scholarship—if it was Bulma having my kid I would drop everything and pick her and my child. But if you don’t tell her that she and your child is everything to you—you’ll fucking regret it. Real talk.”

Goku shock his head and muttered, “I can’t…face her. Not yet. I need more time—she just told me last night for crying out loud!”

“You had twenty-four hours to deal with it Goku!” Vegeta then shook his head,”Chi-chi doesn’t really need you, man. She’s strong, she has money, she has a family—a whole support system she can lean on—she doesn’t need you. But she does want you, Goku. She wants you to be there because she’s scared and she doesn’t want to do this without you—although she could and would if you don’t man-up and be a man.” With that said he walked away, leaving his brother to think about what he said.

~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~The next day: At Izoyi’s Café… ~~~~~***^~~~***^~~~
Izoyi watched Chi-chi walk into her café, looking for Goku obviously. Sadly he told her that if Chi-chi were to come by she was to tell her he wasn’t here. She could tell that the girl was frightened and wanted to find her boyfriend and love-of-her-young-life and most likely to talk with him about the changes they would go through. Chi-chi sat down in a booth, placing her Gucci purse down beside her, then pretended to go through the menu. Izoyi smiled, she liked the girl and did not blame her for what has happened—even though if she kept the baby she was carrying she would more likely ruin her son’s chances at pro-ball.
“What brings you here honey?” Izoyi asked Goku’s girlfriend as she sat down next to her. “I would have thought you would be avoiding restaurants and café’s altogether.”
Chi-chi looked guilty then said softly, “I take it he’s informed you of my situation…”
“Yes he did.”
Chi-chi took a breath then said, “Look I didn’t mean to get him in this mess…and I realize that this could ruin his future…but I’m not asking him to be here for me—I can take care of this baby on my own—”
“So you’re going to keep it?” Izoyi asked, more than a little worried now.
“Yes I’m keeping him…I admit I was freaking out when I first found out but now that I thought about it I want my baby…more than anything in this world.” She said as she smiled softly, while she rubbed her tiny little waist, “Enough of all of that—I came by to find Goku…he’s really been avoiding me since I told him about this pregnancy and I saw him around campus and was calling him but he just walked away—all day he’s been doing this! I don’t understand why Goku’s been acting like this—it’s not like I asked to have this baby! And it hurts me that he feels like he has to put distance between us to deal with it all.”
“He’s avoiding you?”
She nodded tears shimmering in her lovely brown eyes, “Like the plague! I came to see if he would be here since I can’t find him anywhere else…I really need to talk to him…”
“I see…” she said, glaring over at the kitchen where he was hiding. But her loyalty was to her son so she said, “He’s not here darling but I’ll tell him you came by.”
“Ok when you see him…will you tell him to call me or to come by and see me and tell me to my face that it’s over? Will you do that for me?”She asked as she got up from the booth.
“I sure will—but I doubt he would break-up with you…especially now that you’re pregnant.”
Chi-chi looked forlorn when she replied, “I’m not so sure…some guys run out on girls who get pregnant early in life.”
Izoyi shook her head, and then said firmly, “Not my Goku…he’ll be there—just give him time honey, and he’ll come around.”
Chi-chi just smiled then said, “Well I have to go…see you later.”
“Goodbye honey, please come again soon. Maybe you’ll catch him.” She said as the girl reached the door.
Chi-chi laughed then said, “I doubt it…bye.”
She opened the door and walked to her car. The a few seconds later she was gone. Goku came out of the kitchen then asked, “Is she gone?”
“Yes she’s gone…now will you tell me why you’re avoiding that girl like the plague?” she asked as she folded her arms in an no-nonsense manner.
“I thought you were angry about her being pregnant…” He said, utterly clueless.
Izoyi sighed and prayed for patience, “I am…but that doesn’t mean you have to treat her like she’s different just because she’s pregnant!”
“I’m not treating her differently…I just need more time.”
“Goku…the girl thinks you’re going to dump her—you need to straighten this thing out right now! She loves you and she’s scared—I can tell and she wants you to be there for her! This is a fragile time and if you’re not careful you will be the one to make her shatter! Now if you care for her the way you say you do—make it right: Talk to her. Reassure her.”
“You’re right mom.”
She smiled then hugged him, “I know I’m right…now get going—find her and talk things out.”
“Yes ma’am…” he then left, running to his car.
A few minutes after his departure Launch sauntered over and said, “So you’re going to be a grandma huh? If it means anything—I think you’ll be a sexy little grandma!”
“Oh shut up Launch!” she said as she went back to work.
***^~~~***^~~~
Goku dialed up her number as he got into his car, hoping like hell she would pick up. She didn’t but her answering machine did, “Chi-chi…we need to talk. Can you meet me at the—”
“Goku?!̶ 1; she said breathlessly.
“Yeah it’s me.”
She paused then yelled, “WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN—WHY THE FUCK HAVE YOU BEEN AVOIDING ME ALL DAY?! DO YOU KNOW HOW WORRIED I WAS?! NEVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN!”
Goku raked a hand over his face then said, “I’m sorry—alright! I’m really sorry…I just needed a minute to adjust—I didn’t mean to piss you off or worry you…you being pregnant changes things…”
“It doesn’t have to. If you want out now—all you have to do is say so.” She said tearfully, obviously not wanting to give him an out—but was anyway because that was the kind of girl she was. She was so considerate—even when he had been an asshole.
He knew then he didn’t want to be apart from her. “I’m not going anywhere. We’re going to get through this.”
“Oh?” she then sniffled, “Because I’m not so sure…if we can’t deal with this together then what the hell are we doing? You’re not ready for a kid—”
“Well neither are you!” he shot back.
“That may be so…but I decided I’m keeping him.”
That shocked him. He hadn’t really thought of her not having the baby, “Was not keeping him an option?”
“You’re a fucking prick you know that?!” she yelled then hung-up on him.
Clueless he stared at the phone then called her back, it was busy. He sighed then drove over to her house, where he saw her car but when he buzzed the intercom he got no response. He called her again, still outside her house when she appeared outside his window. He jumped—startled, not expecting to see her there. “Chi-chi…I’m sorry—for whatever I said! I just didn’t know…”
“I realize that…you don’t know a lot of things…” she then sighed and got in the passenger’s side. “Goku the first time I found out about our baby…I was wrestling with the idea of abortion and adoption…neither sounded like they would be good for my well-being or my baby’s.”
“What made you decide that?”
She shrugged then replied honestly, “When we went to Miko’s concert…the night I found out I thought about the effects of abortion might have on a person—the baby cries at night, the guilt of killing the one thing you could really love and it love you back—and I don’t want that to happen to me! Nor do I want to give it up to some stranger—and having them raise our child to be some kind of monster or abuse then when they displease them…the baby will be inside me for nine months…I’ m already talking to him, getting to know him as he grows…so I thought I may as well keep it. Because I know how I am—I would grow attached. And for me to give up my baby…I must be detached—and I just can’t be that way Goku—I can’t. So if you can deal with that then you can go.”
“I’m not going anywhere…Chi-chi I love you…I’m not going to abandon you.”
“Really? You mean that?”
“Yeah I mean it. I really do love you—and our kid.” He said as he placed a hand on her still flat belly. “So you decided it’s going to be a boy huh?”
“I don’t actually know for sure—but I have a strong feeling it’s going to be a boy. His name will be Gohan Son…after your grandfather.”
A big smile split his handsome face, “Oh Chi-chi…you don’t have any idea how much that means to me!” he then sobered then asked, “And what if it’s a girl?”
She smiled the replied, “Kasumi Izoyi Son…Kasumi was my mothers’ name…Izoyi obviously is after your mom—speaking of your mom, she was really nice to me today when I went to her café looking for you. She was very cool—despite the circumstances. She understood where I was coming from.”
“That’s my mom…she’s always there.” He smiled then said, “She’ll be there for you and our baby…”
She smiled then replied softly, “I certainly hope so…because I need a mother’s influence.”
“Chi-chi…will you marry me?” he asked, shocking himself and obviously shocking her.
“UH…Uh…I think I need some time to think about it.” She said then quickly exited the car, leaving him in shocked silence.
