Sesshoumaru layed on the ground staring up at the cloudy sky. Having sent the giggling fangirls away long ago, things were quite peaceful. Occasionally Rin would come back and ask him to play. "It's a wonder she hasn't demanded to actually swim yet." He looked over his partially covered body and chuckled to himself. Past his feet, he saw Rin and a little boy building a sand castle. Coming as close to a smile as he could muster, he laid his head back down against his arms.

"Wow! You pretty lady!"

Sesshoumaru's eyebrow raised in suspistion but he didn't move.

"Thank you. You're pretty too."

Kagome. Sesshoumaru sat straight up and looked at them. Kagome was now sitting with Rin and the little boy. His eyes scanned over her figure. Studying her every feature from the way her black hair was tied up into a high ponytail to her red, two-peice swimsuit to the way she had a see-through fabric wrapped loosely around her waist, he was in awe. His heart seemed to skip a beat when she laughed as Rin and the boy tossed sand playfully at her when she suggested making little people to go in the castle. He thought about going over to her but thought better of it. She was more beautiful when admired at a distance. Yet his arms longed to wrap themselves around her, longed to hold her close. He pushed down these urges like all the others. Perhaps being Rin's 'big brother' could prove useful after all this time.

Inuyasha sped down the road on his motorcycle as the engine roared. He was on a direct course for the beach until he realized something. Sango...she might be awake now... Quickly changing his course, he turned down a backroad and made his way to the hospital.

Once he got there, Inuyasha had to go through a series of questioning by the doctors before he got a chance to see her. Finally satisfied with the man's answers, the doctors let him in. Sango was lying on the bed with her eyes halfway open staring up at the ceiling. "Sango?" Her head snapped as she turned to look at him. She silently nodded and looked back up to the ceiling.

Inuyasha went and took his seat by the bed. He glanced up at the TV. Cartoons. Of course...that was Sango for you. But for some reason, the TV was muted. He looked down at her in concern. "Sango? Are you okay?"

"He was only trying to help, Inuyasha..."

"What?" Inuyasha was dumb-struck. What could she mean?

"I mean...Sesshoumaru...he was just helping me get my keys. He didn't want to hurt me. He was just being a good guy."

"Feh! A good guy! Sango what're you thinking?! He tried to attack you!"

"No, Inuyasha...he didn't...you're just becoming over-reactive...you lost Kagome to him cuz you wanted Kikyo. Now you just resent him. He didn't want to hurt me...and you knew it."

The accused sat in the chair staring blankly at her. "No...that's not true, Sango."

"You just used me to get back at him...well it didn't work, Inuyasha. You got hurt and so did I. Just drop it. Kagome's gone. She's not yours anymore."

Inuyasha's stare turned to a glare fired by pure hatred. "No!" He stood up so quickly that he knocked the chair out from behind him.

Sango's gaze didn't turn from it's fixated position and her calm voice did not change. "Please leave now Inuyasha...all your enthusiasm is making my vital signs jump. Plus...I have company coming soon."

Inuyasha's rage spiked as she requested this. "I'll get her back Sango! You watch me! I don't need your help!"

"My help was never offered to you...you took it freely."

With that, he turned and stormed out of the room, grabbing his helmet on his way to the door.

Miroku walked through the hospital and waved politely at the doctors. They let him all pass. He'd been through here enough to visit Sango in the last 12 hours that they knew his answers to all the questions they could possibly ask. He stuffed his hand deep down in his pocket and looked around.

"I don't need your help!"

Miroku's pace slowed down as he heard his best friend yelling throughout the hospital for all to hear. Then, he heard Sango's calm voice through the door.

"My help was never offered to you."

Miroku froze in mid-step. When had Sango been so harsh?

"You took it freely."

He blinked. Was this really Sango? What had happened? Suddenly, Inuyasha came busting out of the door and stormed his way past Miroku. He looked back at him and blinked. Inuyasha seems upset... He walked through Sango's door and saw her trying to stand up. Her hospital garments were safety pinned in the back, the curtosy of Miroku himself. Her feet were placed on the floor and the bandage around her forehead was hardly visible due to her hair, which she had taken down. As she pushed herself off the bed, the onlooker entered the room silently. Sango stumbled and nearly fell but caught herself as Miroku started to rush over to help. She's so determined...even when she's not well she can't stand to stay still...Maybe this was one of the things he liked about her. Her determination. Her willingness to keep fighting.

Interupting Miroku's thoughts, Sango lost her footing and started to fall. In an instant it seemed, Miroku jumped onto and over the bed and caught her. The force of her fall pushed them both back onto the bed. Sango rubbed her head and looked down at the arms wrapped around her waist. She looked over her shoulder at him and smiled weakly. "Heya..."

"You shouldn't have been trying to stand up."

"I was trying to unmute the TV..." Sango commented innocently.

"The remote was next to your pillow...it's attached to the bed remember."

Sango looked down at the remote. "Oh...so it is..." She sighed. "I'm sorry Miroku...I just wanted to stand up...my legs were killing me."

He nodded and brushed her hair away from her face and back behind her ear. "I know, Sango...I know."

She rubbed at her nose and leaned back against him, glad for the warm support. The source of support looked down at the injured woman in his arms. "It's okay, Sango...I'm here now..you don't have to worry about anything."

Sango nodded and added in a voice barely above an audible whisper. "I know..." With that, she fell asleep almost instantly.
