Chapter 1: Kagome and Inuyasha

After Akito’s death Toru wanted nothing more than to move as far away as possible from the terrible memories of him that haunted her. She didn’t move very far, just far enough from the area to escape from familiar things. Toru was very weak before the move. Her mind was very fragile and she’s withdrawn within herself, seeking a sanctuary that no one else could see. After all, the only reason Akito had died was because he’d overexerted himself in trying to hurt her. Yuki and Kyo had left her for maybe a couple of hours and in returning had found a note from Toru saying she’d been invited for tea with Akito and she’d be back later. Immediately they’d rushed over and found Toru in disarray, beaten, bruised, cut and with her clothing shredded. Obviously he’d had more planned than tea. Akito lay gasping for air on the ground, tended to by Hatori. Akito had passed on shortly after, and nobody blamed Toru for his death-seeing as it really wasn’t her fault anyway. Shigure had apologized profusely for having left. His editor had sent him an urgent message (along with a death threat if he didn’t meet her) and he’d hastened to see her after said message exploded. Hatori was quite firm on the subject of Toru moving. “In her fragile mental state,” he’d explained. “It would be disastrous to make her face old memories, and that includes all of us. It could drive her to hurt herself and none of us want that.” So it was agreed, Toru would be moved and they would clandestinely watch over her.

Kagome had her hands full. Naraku, however, was no longer the problem; instead it was the busy life of a teenager in high school. With Naraku dead and the shikon jewel merged with her body Kagome had been able to fully use her miko powers. Her new abilities included being able to transport many priceless objects which helped her family enlarge the shrine with more rooms. Which was needed seeing as she’d also been able to open the well to whoever she desired, and that meant that Sango, Miroku, her dear little Shippo, Sesshoumaru, Ayame, Kirara, Rin, Ginta, Hakkaku, Kouga and Kaede could travel back and forth at anytime. Inuyasha had always had this privilege and so he sulked about not being able to make his wish. She’d also given Kouga his accelerated speed; irritating Inuyasha further. Kagome’s relationship with Inuyasha was still one of loyal friendship and one-sided love, but he’d become more overbearing, often making her burst into tears. Kagome’s passport into the future had also allowed Kagura and Kanna free access. Naraku’s death and given many of them freedom, and had turned enemies into allies and friends. Inuyasha, however, would not let past grudges go. The reunion of Kohaku and Sango had made him become very protective of Kohaku and Shippo, treating them like little brothers; meaning he still fought endlessly with Shippo. His feelings for Kagome still weren’t much else. Once she stored enough pure energy she’d be able to grant him his wish and that seemed to be the only reason he remained. It was taking a while because most of her pure energy went into the illusions she created for them to look a little more-er, human. Unfortunately they didn’t last long because if the person in illusion got too emotional or upset the illusion would shatter, and that seemed to be all her companions were doing. Kikyo, due to Kagome’s caring nature, also had access to the well and Inuyasha spent most of his time with her, making Kagome secretly depressed. Kouga cheered her up, not by his loving attention but by his gruff humour. Sango and Miroku’s relationship still hadn’t changed, he’d grope she’d smack. So, with everyone now practically living in Kagome’s time she’s decided the best course of action would be to enrol them in school-no matter how old they claimed to be. Shippo was stuck with Souta, even though by human years Shippo was much older. Everyone else was in high school. Kagome suffered the consequences. She dealt with detentions, homework, and hot tempers on a daily basis-acting like a loving but exasperated mother.

“Dammit Kagome, I don’t get this!” Inuyasha cursed. “Umm…Kagome, Kouga and I both have detentions,” explained Miroku shamefaced with a red hand print etched on his cheek. “It was something about not starting fights and keeping my hands to myself.” “Everything here is stupid,” complained Kagura to Sango. “The men are weak, the teachers are jerks and I’m failing science because I explained to the teacher that I could fly on a feather.” Kagome put a hand to her forehead, knowing a headache would be inevitable. “Kagome, have you seen Kirara?” asked Shippo walking in with Kohaku and Sesshoumaru. Kohaku smiled and greeted everyone. “Uh, Kagome…I don’t really understand some of this. Would you teach me? My teachers do not have as much patience as you do.” Sesshoumaru’s eyes were tinged red. “Wench!” he snarled. “I do no see the point of this ‘school’. Look! All of these stupid ningen keep coming up to me with these papers.” He dug into his modern clothing (supplied by Kagome’s mother) and extracted ten different handfuls of love letters. “I left the rest at that ‘school’ in my infernal metal box. What is the meaning of this?! I am the Lord of the Western Lands, no mere ningen may even look at me!” Kagome sighed and said softly, “The metal box is called a locker, Sesshoumaru. There’s nothing I can do about the letters, unless you can magically become invisible or less attractive they’ll keep coming. Just ignore them and say ‘I’m sorry, but no,’ and the amount should lower.” Everyone was speaking at once it seemed and for once it overwhelmed her. She saw mouths moving, heard a roar of sounds and then silence; she panicked and bolted out the door. Everyone looked at the exit in surprise, and as Inuyasha made to go after her, Sango held him back. “She needs time to herself right now, and I think we should let her be.” From the other side of the shrine Kagome’s mother and her grandpa paused in talking to Kaede when they saw her zoom by. The three of them shook their heads and resumed conversation, Rin playing in the goshinboku tree.

Kagome ran fast, her breath coming in short shuddery gasps of air and her lungs and legs bursting with fire. She struggled to contain herself, her body seeking any type of relief from her tremendous stress. She sprinted past Kikyo who was coming from the well and Kikyo ignored her as she made her way to the side of the shrine that housed Inuyasha. Seeing Kikyo did nothing to help Kagome, and made her heart ache. She turned a corner with great precision and crashed headlong into the person turning the corner. They both went flying, but Kagome was up first apologizing copiously. The girl who she’d run into shook her head to clear away her daze and looked up. She was lovely, her long brown hair falling gracefully down her back and her huge, confused blue eyes lighting up with a smile. “That’s alright, I’m sorry too. Are you alright?” Kagome laughed weakly, “Uh huh, are you?” The girl grinned, illuminating the scenery around them. “Oh yes. Pleased to meet you, my name is Toru Honda, and you are…?” Kagome offered her a hand up and replied, “I’m Kagome Higurashi and the pleasure’s all mine.” “Would you like to go for tea, Higurashi-san, it's the least I can do?” Kagome smiled back and nodded. “I’d love to Honda-san.” The chatted animatedly as they walked to Toru’s new home. Toru explained she’d recently moved and she was just checking out the area-her home was the opposite direction of the shrine. “So where did you move from?” Kagome asked. “Oh not that far away, but it’s not terribly important. What school do you go to?” Sensing the abrupt change of subject Kagome complied with a reply of, “Oh, I go to Ryo High, it’s actually quite close to here.” Toru gasped, “That’s where I’m enrolled in too!” “Really? That’s great! I can show you around if you’d like…”

They arrived outside of a very cute and spacious light blue house. Toru blushed, “Umm…don’t mind the mess I haven’t really had a chance to unpack. I wanted to see the neighbourhood first…” Kagome giggled, “Don’t worry about it; my house is probably a thousand times worse than anyone else’s.” Toru smiled and opened up the door. Her eyes widened in shock at the three boys who where tidying up her house. “Yuki? Kyo? Shigure? Wha-what are you doing here?” she yelped. The boys froze and turned to face her. Apparently they hadn’t expected her back for a period of time, and Kagome felt a little body run past her. “I’m sorry!” it cried. “I got here too late…” Toru turned with a look of surprise and whispered, “Momiji?” The cute blonde boy in front of Kagome launched himself forward to give her a hug but one of the boys quickly intercepted him. The boy had a serious face, dark hair and violet eyes. He smiled at Toru and said, “We couldn’t let you do all that work alone.” One of the other boys said, “Plus, Shigure here was pining for ya.” He had a shock of orange/red hair and chocolate brown eyes and spoke in a very Inuyasha-like manor. The last and oldest of the four boys grinned lopsidedly in a very Miroku-ish way and sang out, “How could I survive without my lovely Toru?” Toru blushed but still looked uncertain. Kagome felt decided very out of place and awkward. She was half-hidden by Toru but the eldest-with a friendly smile-saw her and pulled both girls farther into the house.

He took Toru over with a polite, “Excuse me,” to Kagome and whispered into her ear. Toru seemed to calm down. The three other boys approached Kagome to greet her. The adorable blonde grinned and introduced himself, “My name is Momiji and these are my cousins.” The serious, violet-eyes one smiled and said, “It’s a pleasure to meet you Miss?” “Kagome.” “My name is Yuki Sohma.” He kissed her hand. The last one, the fiery red-head looked her over. “My name is Kyo,” he finally muttered. He seemed nervous and as Kagome studied his aura she saw he was slightly afraid too. They all had a shimmer of a concealed secret in their auras but she chose not to mention anything. Shigure returned with Toru and she said, “This is Shigure, they’re all my friends from back home. I wasn’t expecting them to visit me so soon.” Kagome laughed and said, “Well I suppose it was a nice surprise.” Toru smiled too; back to her usual self it would seem and agreed. “Everyone this is Kagome, I ah-bumped into her. Why don’t we all sit down for some tea?” While they all seated themselves and offered to help Toru-which she declined-Kagome grew friendlier and they loosened up considerably. Shigure and Momiji were already loose, so this refers only to Kyo and Yuki. She noticed they didn’t get along spectacularly but that they did seem to enjoy tormenting one and other. Toru returned bearing the tea and treats and asked how the four boys were doing and how everyone else was. Kagome listened curiously. Yuki blushed slightly and coughed. “Well…Hatori told us not to, but…we’ve all enrolled in your school with you.” Toru smiled, “That’s great. So the four of you’ll be with me?” Kyo scratched his head. “Not just the four of us...Kiza, Hiro, Kagura, Haru, will be too and Ayame and Hatori will be coming to baby-sit.” Toru’s jaw dropped. “Th-that’s almost everyone!” she exclaimed. Shigure sighed, “Well, we missed you oh so much; we just had to stalk you to your new home.” Kagome burst out laughing and patted the shocked Toru on the shoulders. “Lucky you,” she said. “Now you aren’t as alone as before. I’ll have to introduce you to my friends, too.” Toru giggled. The rest of the day was a haze, ending with everyone walking her back to the shrine.

As she trudged in she was met by an anxious Inuyasha. “Kagome, you know you can’t run of like that, you know we need you.” Kagome said nothing. He unnoticeably sniffed detecting the scent of five different people. Unconsciously he began to growl and Kagome frowned slightly. “No Inuyasha,” she replied. “You don’t need me; you need the wish I have in my body, right?” She brushed by him and rushed to her room near tears. After spending the afternoon surrounded by boys who seemed to be in love with the sweet Toru, Kagome felt extremely underappreciated and was trying hard not to show it. Undressing with little Shippo already asleep in her bed she pulled a robe on and grabbed her pyjamas for a quick late night shower. Her hair flowed down her back as she released it from her ponytail and she got into the shower, letting the burning water scald her body to burn away the impurities she felt. Was she not pretty? She wasn’t hideous, she wasn’t unattractive. Was she? Sinking to her knees in the shower, she let her tears fall like the water down her face as she cried, hard. Unbeknownst to her Inuyasha sat outside the bathroom listening to her cry; after some time he stood and walked away. Kagome finally calmed down and finished scrubbing herself raw. Heaving a sigh of relief she got into her pj’s and crawled into her bed with Shippo, cuddled in her arms. The next morning she woke refreshed and revitalized, last night forgotten, eager to meet Toru and introduce her to her friends. Not everyone was as exuberant and excited at the prospect of a new day at school…

“I ain’t goin’ Kagome. There’s no way in hell I’m goin’!” Inuyasha yelled. “Sit,” she said. “Augh!” “It’s Friday, the last day of school for the week so just handle it, okay?” “Kagome, I don’t feel so good…” Shippo moaned. “What? Oh no! Here, let me take you’re temperature, I have just the medicine make you feel better-hold on a sec!” Shippo blanched, “Actually, ehehe, I feel just fine. Must’ve been the air…” “Oh, alright then Shippo-chan.” Kouga zoomed in, “Shit, you stupid dog! You ate my homework, what the hell are my teacher’s gonna say?!” Sesshoumaru strolled in-wearing only his boxer’s-making all the older girls at the kitchen table drool and suffer splurting nosebleeds. “Kagome I need proper attire,” he ordered. Kagome gulped, wishing he’d stay like that, but knowing it wasn’t precisely proper. “My mother probably left clothing on your bed.” Sesshoumaru turned and left. The rest of the morning was one disaster after another, but somehow, they and Kagome made it to school on time. Regretfully there hadn’t been enough time to pick Toru up on the way to school as Kagome had wanted to. She’d search for her at lunchtime.

Toru herself was in a fix as well. She was being overwhelmed by Haru, kawaii Kiza, Hiro, Momiji, and Kagura. She still didn’t know about Shigure’s plot with Ayame. She did, however, see them skipping around happily chanting, “School girls, school girls, school girls…” Classes breezed by and had Kagome looking for Toru and vice versa. Around a corner she went with Sango and Kouga. Miroku and Inuyasha lagged a little behind, Miroku calming Inuyasha’s jealousy as Kouga playfully grabbed Kagome’s hand. Toru was in search of Kagome accompanied by Yuki, Kyo, Momiji and Haru. Kyo had stupidly made Haru turn into Black Haru and they were all suffering for it. Both search parties rounded the corner and mingled with each other. Toru saw Kouga, Kagome saw Haru. Then they locked eyes. “Toru!” squealed Kagome. “Kagome!” Toru squealed back. Black Haru checked out Kagome and walked forward to lope an arm casually around her waist. “You’re the Kagome I’ve been hearing about all morning,” he said. He touched her face, “What’s a beauty like you doing with those losers?” It would be fair to say that Black Haru indeed started the fight.

Both Inuyasha and Kouga saw red and leapt forward to fight Black Haru. Out of nowhere Sesshoumaru appeared with Kagura and Shigure with Ayame. Black Haru released Kagome when he saw the two boys who’d been walking with her. He dodged Inuyasha’s jab, but didn’t see Kouga until his foot connected with B-Haru’s stomach. It was a light tap which sent B-Haru into Kyo, who fell into Yuki. Now Yuki and Kyo joined, along with Miroku. Angry, but still cautious, they pulled their friends apart. Toru worked on Black Haru, while Kagome breathlessly reminded the boys the illusion would slip if they weren’t careful and that they couldn’t afford that. Black Haru looked up and said snidely, “Keep your paws off that girl, she’s too precious to be even looked at by you two.” That was Inuyasha’s breaking point; the comment didn’t really bother Kouga who thought Kagome was too good for him anyways. The illusion over him fragmented and fell off like mist and he lurched forward furiously, Kyo ran to intercept him, but Kagome jumped ahead tackling Kyo and screamed, “SIT!” at the top of her lungs. Kyo was now a small, cute orange cat in her arms. Nobody breathed for a moment as Kagome’s group studied the cat and Toru’s the crater filled with a dog-eared boy. Kagome unsteadily held the cat out at arm’s length and held him out to Toru. “I’m sorry,” she whispered. She didn’t see the root popping out of the ground, but she suddenly found herself falling forward. She clutched the cat to her, unwilling to let it get hurt as she fell and was caught by both Shigure and Yuki who had rushed forward to catch her.

Unfortunately two more ’s were heard and a dog and mouse were now clutched in her arm’s along with the seething cat. Kagome didn’t know what to do, her arm’s full of animals. She looked up helplessly at Toru as Inuyasha picked himself out of the indent and dusted himself off. He didn’t seem very concerned that three boys had just turned into animals before their very eyes. Three different ’s clouded the scene and when it dissolved it left behind three very naked, well-formed, and well-off guys. Kagome fainted as the arguing commenced above her head.

When she re-awoke, minutes later, it was to a very worried Inuyasha and Toru looming over her, Kikyo had showed up and out of the corner of her eye, Kagome saw her smirk. Sango’s face would have been one of concern were it not for the two perverts of each group having simultaneously irritated her by both groping her. Shigure explained it was an experiment, “You’re friend showed me this new technique and he suggested I try it on the most attractive rear I saw.” Either way, Sango hadn’t appreciated it. Miroku knew what was coming and ducked-Shigure didn’t and received a mighty slap to his face which left him dazed. “Whatta woman,” he murmured. Miroku bent down and sat next to him. “Trust me, I know.” They looked up at Sango, who turned red and fled behind Kagura. Ayame made his way to Kagura and Sango, neglecting the entire situation. The girl’s eyed him warily, but as soon as they made eye contact with him they were mesmerized. Sesshoumaru walked over-although he hated doing it, he always protected what was his, and that included the two women. Translation: he protects his friends, not that he'd ever put it so succiently. He looked down at the snake-like moving man and said emotionless, “Get away little ningen.”

Ayame looked up and locked eyes with Sesshoumaru. It seemed to be a showdown, but Ayame looked at the equally white hair of the man and felt a connection. He had a stern but beautiful face and golden eyes that tried to disguise emotion, and his fashion sense! (A/N: The illusion covers the ears, claws and the markings, but Sesshoumaru would die before hiding his pride and joy-his fluffy tail) The only other man who’d been daring enough to wear a boa with a school uniform of those colours had been himself. Yes, they were bound to be good friends, and if he could convince this golden-eyed man to work with him, the woman (and men) would pour into his shop like bees to honey. Sesshoumaru just gazed at Ayame in a bored fashion. So far the pitiful ningen had seemed to be totally engrossed in his beauty. Not that that was unusual, but it annoyed him to no end and his hypnotic eyes were making Sesshoumaru feel weird. Kohaku strolled around the corner with his head down, and he didn’t look very happy. Momiji had been talking to Yuki and turned when he saw the saddened boy look up. Feeling empathetic towards Kohaku, Momiji bounded towards him with a cheerful greeting. He jumped onto Kohaku and cried happily, “How ya doin?” Kohaku blushed; thinking Momiji to be a girl-after all Momiji was wearing the girl’s uniform-and pulled away. Momiji pouted and asked, “Does that mean you don’t wanna be friends?”

From across the school someone screamed, “You saw him go this way?!” A blur zoomed across the entire school ground-quite a feat-and launched itself towards Kyo. Kyo’s eyes widened in horror and he tried to dodge but Kagura began her usual greeting. Yuki watched for a moment before turning towards Kagome. “I think we both have some explaining to do.” Inuyasha didn’t like the tone the rat had used and growled softly. He was about to bend down and help Kagome up when Yuki got down and picked her up. Toru smiled brightly and pushed back a lock of hair from Kagome’s face. “Don’t worry, he sounds scary but Yuki’s a real sweety.” Kouga also didn’t like the fact a rat was touching his Kagome. Then he saw Toru smile and felt guilty for wanting to hurt Yuki although the guilt was tinged with jealousy. After all, he reasoned, the rat had made the lovely girl smile, and it wasn’t like he couldn’t hurt him afterwards, right? Breathing outward in confusion, Inuyasha glanced at him and his brow knit in puzzlement. Usually Kouga would freak a lot more if someone else was touching Kagome. Kouga stepped up to Yuki and said, “I’ll carry her,” very politely.

Toru beamed up at him and he felt a flush rise in his face. Kagome looked between the two hiding a smile. Kagome waved her hands, “No! I’m not dying, I can walk by myself thank you.” She stepped down from Yuki and away from Toru and Kouga who were standing very close. Kouga was very handsome, Kagome realized. He had beautifully coloured dark skin, flashing blue eyes and a cute butt in that uniform. Usually his tail covered it, but with the illusion on, ow ow, he was a hottie and a half. His long black hair was tied tightly in a ponytail, accenting the shape of his almond shaped eyes.
Toru, of course, was lovely, so the attraction was there. Kagome hoped Toru was single; Kouga could be quite-erm, stubborn. Toru was in a secret state of panic. She was trying hard not to blush. She was admiring the luscious bit of guy in front of her and trying hard not to drool. Like Kagome, her gaze wandered down to his cute butt. She blushed at the dirty little thoughts swimming through her mind and looked away.

Kagome smiled mischievously and wrapped and arm around Kouga and Toru, drawing them together. “Well, I have a feeling we’ll all be good friends, oh hold on! Class starts in five, so…” She stepped away and put a hand under her chin, “I guess you’ll just all have to come over to the shrine and we’ll talk. How’s that sound?” Kagome skipped away, merrily. She had some matchmaking to do. She grabbed Sango and Kagura and gave Toru a quick hug before leaving for class. Miroku sighed and helped Shigure up. “Oye Yash, I think Kagome’s up to something.” Toru had left with Momiji-who had bounded onto Kohaku before departure. “Cheer up, we’re going to be best friends. I can feel it!” Yuki and Kyo eyed Kouga and Inuyasha distrustfully; the dog and wolf did the same. Shigure and Miroku wandered away talking. Sesshoumaru was trying to shake the very persistent Ayame off, but it didn’t seem to be doing much. Kagura ran back, “Inuyasha, have you seen Kikyo? I think she has my homework.” Inuyasha growled, “What am I, her mother? I dunno.” Kagura sighed angrily, “Never mind.” She turned and bumped into a solid man in front of her. “Oh excuse me,” she said. Kagura didn’t need much illusion, her ears were rounded and her eyes were brown, but her beauty was still there.

She steadied herself and stepped away. “Forgive me,” the man said. Ayame and Shigure looked up and cried, “Hatori!” Kagura blinked in surprise, the man in front of her seemed mature. She walked away while the snake and dog leapt to their friend. “What are you two doing at Toru’s school?” he asked sternly. “You’re supposed to be working at the shop, and you’re supposed to be finishing off your novel.” “Aw Hatori, loosen up, look around you. SCHOOL GIRLS!! Don’t tell me it doesn’t make your heart soar to see such cute little uniforms?” Hatori turned and walked away. “I am leaving.” Ayame took off after him, “Shigure, I’ll talk later!” He looked back at the disappearing back of Sesshoumaru and screamed, “Goodbye golden eyes, I’ll be back!” Inuyasha sniggered as his brother stiffened and shot an evil glare at him.

Kagome sat in class, bored out of her mind. Everyone was in separate classrooms. Her old friends wouldn’t speak to her anymore so she was alone. Her depression seemed to be growing. Every time it did she forced herself to think happy, her life wasn’t bad, it was great. So she was lonely, big deal, who wasn’t? She was acting like an idiot. Sighing sadly she felt someone tap her shoulder. Hojo looked down at her with a smile and asked, “Can I talk to you after school?” Kagome plastered a fake smile on her face and answered, “Sure. I’ll wait after school by my locker.” Hojo smiled and walked back to his desk. She didn’t feel like talking to anyone, especially not Hojo. I mean, Hojo, think about it. He was cute, in a plain sort of way, but it wasn’t that-he was boring. She would date him, if not for the fact she was in love with Inuyasha and the fact he was boring. Would her loneliness abate then? Kikyo walked by the classroom as Kagome looked up and she felt a pang of sadness hit her. Why not? Kouga would find someone else, Inuyasha had Kikyo and she would date Hojo. Everyone was happy.

After school-as promised-Kagome waited by her locked for Hojo. Everyone else had already left for home and she said she meet them there. Hojo’s smile was adorable when he saw her. “Thanks, my teacher held me in a little late. I didn’t think you’d wait, but I’m glad you did.” Kagome smiled slightly, “Well yeah, I did promise Hojo. What was it you wanted to talk about?” Hojo blushed, “I was wondering if you wanted to got see a movie with me tomorrow. I got two free tickets to the premier of some movie and I thought you might want to go.” Kagome smiled again. “I’d love to, Hojo. What time?” He positively beamed, “I’ll pick you up at eight if that’s all right?” Kagome nodded, “That’s be great. I’ll see you then.”

She was walking out the door when she bumped into Yuki, of course, when I say bump, I mean he stopped her before full contact was actually achieved. “Ah, hello Yuki-kun. Are you coming to my house for an explanation too?” He regarded her with serious violet eyes. “Yes, but the real reason I waited was to ask you something.” Kagome tilted her head to one side. “Sure, by all means.” “Why weren’t you disgusted? You fainted, but you seem to be acting like people turning into animals is perfectly normal.” Kagome sighed, “I don’t know. Why would I be? What’s so disgusting, I think that’s kawaii. The only reason I fainted was because three naked boys poofed into my arms. Wouldn’t you faint? I guess strange stuff is normal. I mean, who’s to say it isn’t? I imagine most people have secrets they hide, why should it bother me that you turn into a mouse.” “Rat.” “Right, a rat. So what? Would it disgust you to find a girl who turned into a rat?” Yuki blinked, “I don’t know, it’s never really occurred.” Kagome laughed, “C’mon, I expect they’re waiting for us. Inuyasha has little patience, and I don’t want to have to sit him.” Yuki laughed, “So that’s what you said. Does that work for just anyone?” Kagome shook her head, “Nah, just me, but I try not to over abuse the privilege.”

Indeed everyone was waiting for them to arrive. Immediately everyone’s eyes fell onto her and Kagome gulped. “Hey guys,” she greeted. It was a large group for sure. Sesshoumaru, Kikyo, Inuyasha, Sango, Miroku, Shippo, Kohaku, Kouga, wind- demon Kagura, Kanna, wolf-demon Ayame, from her gang and Toru, Kyo, Shigure, snake Ayame, pig-Kagura, Hatori, Momiji, Haru, Kiza, and Hiro from the other. Yuki sat down with the rest and Kagome stood uncertainly.

“Well, aha ha, umm…who wants to go first?” Toru smiled and stood up beside Kagome. “Don’t be so nervous, we’re all friends here.” Kagome smiled back weakly. She walked to Sesshoumaru first and snatched off the illusion, then Shippo, Kouga, D. Kagura (D for demon, obviously), Kanna, D. Ayame and finally Inuyasha. Toru’s group’s eyed widened but only those who hadn’t been there at lunch were overly surprised. Kagome sat in front pf them and began, “It started on my fifteenth birthday…” When she was finished she coughed nervously and scratched her head. “And that’s it.” Toru smiled, “That’s amazing! I can’t believe it, who would have known?” she sighed and looked at Kagome. “I can’t do the explaining because I swore I wouldn’t tell.” Yuki laughed, “I’ll do it I suppose.”

“Our family has a curse…” and he went on. He didn’t mention Akito’s death, however, wanting to leave that untouched for the moment. “And so that’s our story. I am the rat, Kyo is a cat, Ayame, my brother, is the snake. Shigure is the dog, Hatori the dragon, Kagura the pig, Haru the cow, little Kiza is the tiger, Hiro the sheep and Momiji the rabbit.” “Bunny,” Momiji corrected. Kagome's jaw dropped. “That’s so-so, cool!” She coughed, “I mean, that’s a horrible curse, but...I mean, well-oh my. Open mouth insert foot, right? I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound rude.”

Kagura stood up, “Wait! You said if you embrace, or bump into a member of the opposite sex, you change. I bumped into him-” she pointed towards Hatori. “-and nothing happened.” Hatori’s eyes widened. “That’s true! I didn’t even realize it.” A silence settled over the group. Cute little Kiza hugged Shippo tentatively and nothing happened. Toru’s jaw dropped. Kagome stated more to herself then to everyone, “Is it the demon blood?” Shigure hugged Kagura and nothing happened. He grinned, and turned to Sango. “Are you a demon too?” He stepped forward and hugged her. She yelped and said, “No wait!” Shigure’s tail wagged, “Oh well, it was worth it,” he said. From his angle he looked up her school uniform and his tail wagged harder. “Delicious!” Sango stepped away and wrapped her skirt firmly around herself, “I won’t hurt a defenceless animal, but I will get you when you turn back." “Uh oh…” he whispered.

Shigure stepped up and hugged her closely-completely naked. He released her and grabbed his clothes of the ground. “If I time it perfectly I can hug a female and not turn,” he said smiling. Miroku admired Shigure’s technique and Sango’s cute blush. “What colour were her panties? I’d check myself, but…” he trailed off, receiving a lethal glare from Sango. Everyone else erupted into laughter. Shigure pulled on his shirt and sat next to him. “Light pink, and her shirt fluttered open too. She’s got the cutest black bra you’d ever see.” Sango walked out of the room for a moment, she returned with her Hiraikotsu, which she could never bare to leave behind and threw it. Everyone jumped out of the way and Miroku grabbed Shigure’s head and forced him down with him. As it whizzed past they sat back up and received the back blow. “Ouch,” they both whimpered. She picked it up and went to replace it in her room. “Jerks,” she muttered. “We love you Sango,” they chorused, laughing.

Kikyo had separated from them. “I don’t care what you say, that isn’t natural. It’s disgusting. I won’t associate with filth.” Everyone either stiffened or flinched. Kiza looked down, mortified and near tears. Kagome felt all her anger pour into her at that one moment. She stood calmly and walked towards Kikyo. “Take it back,” she said softly, venom evident in her voice. Kikyo eyed her coldly, “I stand by what I say, and no washed up reincarnation of me has the right to challenge me.” Kagome heaved a sad sigh, “Well, how can I argue with that?” Nobody suspected her fist to fly straight into Kikyo’s face. Kikyo fell back on her bum with a thud. “Get out of my home and never come back. Prejudice is not needed here and you will not be welcome until you get over it. Leave now and return to the well.” Putting her hand to her now bloody nose, Kikyo shoot a malicious look at Kagome and an angry look at Inuyasha who looked amazed. “Goodbye Kikyo,” Kagome said emotionlessly.

Kikyo stood and ran from the house. Kagome followed her to the door and watched her fling the doors wide open and jump into the well. A flash of blinding light was emitted and Kagome turned and said, “I’m sorry everyone. That wasn’t very nice. Please forgive her.” Kagome stumbled. “I, I sealed the well from her; she can really only come back if she loses her prejudice.” She put a hand to her forehead, swaying a little bit and fell to her knees. “I had to make it strong-” she started to slur. “-or she would be able to break it.” With tears in her eyes she looked up at Inuyasha. “I’m sorry. She can’t stay here, but by all means go stay with her. We all know you love her.” She stood shakily, “I need to go lay down.” She fled for her room, calling out, “Excuse me.” She didn’t go to her room, she ran to the bathroom and vomit. Nausea kicked in, she’d really over done it. Hatori stood and followed her. He knocked politely and called, “Miss Kagome, may I assist you? I am a doctor.” Kagome wiped her mouth and washed her face and opened the door. “Oh, Hatori-sensei, I’m sorry. I feel much better, I should say goodbye to everyone.” She brushed by him and bumped into Sango, Kagura and Toru. “Um?" Kagura glanced up and exchanged a look with Hatori. “We’ll take care of her, don’t worry.” She picked up Kagome and carried her to the room. Kagome shrugged and rested against her.

She asked Kagura to let her down-which Kagura did and she stepped back into the room. She avoided looking at Inuyasha but politely escorted everyone to the door. “Come by anytime, our house is welcome to everyone.” (Except Kikyo) Kagome still sounded like she was drunk, but no one really minded. She picked up Shippo and kissed him on the head. “I’m sorry Shippo,” she murmured in his ear. “I’m sorry I’m an awful friend and mother.” She put him back down. Bending down to Kiza and Hiro she smiled and said, “Never mind what Kikyo said. You two are beautiful.” She kissed them on the tops of their head and said goodbye to the rest of them. Shigure smiled sneakily and asked, “May I have a kiss too?” Kagome giggled and shook her finger, “Nope, I am committed. I have a date tomorrow. I’m loyal, Shigure-san.” She smiled at him, eyes glistening and swayed. Yuki looked her over, silently, with Kyo beside him with the same look. “Thank you,” he murmured. Kyo half-smiled and they walked away. When everyone left, Sango ordered everyone to help her in the kitchen for dinner. Kagome sank against the door frame and collapsed in tears. Inuyasha stayed in the room, watching her.

She didn’t look up. “’M sorry,” she said softly. “I know everyone prefers Kikyo to me, but that wasn’t nice of her. I’m sorry Inuyasha.” He didn’t say a word the entire time. Kouga zoomed back in the room. “Kagome, I’ll carry you to bed, the least thing I can do for my woman.” Kagome brushed him off, “Nah Kouga-kun. I’m fine. And what have I told you about calling me ‘your woman’. I’m seeing someone, so no more of this, okay?” Kouga got down beside her-ignoring Inuyasha. “About that…you aren’t serious, are you?” Kagome nodded, choking back her frustrated tears. ‘I love Inuyasha, but he doesn’t love me. I have to move on,’ she wanted to say. Instead she put those thoughts into the well with Kikyo.

“It’s Hojo. He asked me out to a movie. I’m going to ask him if he wants to be my boyfriend. If not, meh, I’ll deal with that later. And you, Kouga-kun, you should go out with Toru, she’s soo pretty, and such a sweety.” Kouga blushed, “Wha-what are you talking about?! I don’t like Toru, she’s just, you know, nice.” Kagome giggled and patted his cheek. “Don’t lie Kouga-kun. I saw it in your aura.” She got up and made her way back to her room. She noticed Inuyasha’s disappearance almost immediately and she finally broke down into tears. He would go back with Kikyo, she knew. She also knew that if she had died in the battle her soul would have gone back to Kikyo, she knew she should have died. She wasn’t supposed to exist. She fell asleep.

A knock on the door woke her and quickly made her brush away dry tears. Expecting Sango or Kagura, she was surprised when Sesshoumaru walked in. “I could hear you from the kitchen, Kouga’s just an idiot and my brother seems to have disappeared. I didn’t want to interrupt the girls because I can’t cook to save my life anything worth eating.” Kagome laughed wetly. “How’s Rin?” (A/N: The reason I haven’t mentioned Rin is because, yes, I had forgotten her. It’s hard trying to remember everyone. Rin is now sick with the flu and Kagome’s mother and Kaede had been tending to her, so she stayed on their side of the house.) Kagome’s mother had really taken a shine to Rin. So had Souta for that matter, he seemed to have quite the crush on the endearing Rin.

Kagome had gotten a laugh out of watching Sesshoumaru hover around her like a mother hen, but had coughed nervously when he’d overhead her comment. Jaken had stayed behind in the Feudal Era to take care of Sesshoumaru’s lands. He too had access to the well, just in case he needed help. “Why don’t you make your self comfy Sesshoumaru?” She lay on her bed and patted the mattress for him to join her. He sat-looking like a regal Lord even in her girlish room-and regarded her with familiar golden eyes. Kagome’s tears flowed again, but she didn’t make a sound. “It is my idiot half-brother, isn’t it? He makes you cry, doesn’t he?” Kagome shook her head and tried to calm herself. “No, I’m just not feeling well.” Sesshoumaru said nothing but gave her a look. “Okay,” she admitted. “It is, but it’s not a big deal.” Sesshoumaru touched his tail and Kagome laughed. “You only do that when you feel uncomfortable, or bored. Am I boring you?” Sesshoumaru smiled slightly, looking delicious. “Not at all, I also touch it when I am thinking. You say it is not a big deal, yet it makes you cry and makes you smell like sadness and deep depression. I do not know much about humans, but I would like to learn because of Rin. She’s under my care until she’s old enough. Although, to be frank, humans are irritating and they do act strange.” Kagome laughed and launched herself forward to give him a hug. “You’re far nicer than you let on.”

She gave him a sly glance, “That Ayame Sohma was giving you the eye all day.” Sesshoumaru sighed. “He wants me to join his business, it would bring in a lot of customers, he said.” Kagome laughed again, “Nope, I think someone’s infatuated. You are beautiful Sesshoumaru.” Sesshoumaru’s face tinged slightly. She gripped his hand gently, “It’s not a bad thing…plus, hot bi and gay guys are scrumptious. If you do go out with Ayame, I get to watch you two make out ‘cause it was my idea, okay?” Sesshoumaru sighed in exasperation. “I already told you, I’m straight.” Kagome released his hand and patted it lightly, “Sure you are. Look, I know this is probably making you feel weird, you don’t need to check up on me. Why don’t you go see Rin, tell her I hope she’s feeling better, okay? You’re such a doll.” She gave him a peck on the cheek. “You’re my new best guy friend. Feel free to tell me anything. You don’t have to be so cold all the time. I wont judge you. I think you’re becoming warmer. Imagine, the Lord Sesshoumaru, blushing! Hell has officially frozen over. It’s late, you better be off to bed. Goodnight.” Sesshoumaru smiled slightly again and bid her goodnight.

Kagome lay on her bed, feeling a little better. Sesshoumaru had successfully removed her mind from Inuyasha for that brief time. She rose and looked out the window. Perhaps she should have a chat with Kikyo. About to climb out the window Inuyasha popped in through it. Starting slightly, Kagome jumped back. Inuyasha climbed through and walked towards her. She plastered a fake smile on her face and made for the door. Quicker than she could follow he blocked it. At that moment she completely forgot the rosary around his neck.

“Erm, hello Inuyasha. What’s the matter?” She sat down on her bed and pulled her knees up against her chest. “I already apologized. If you want I’ll take back the ban…” Inuyasha walked to the bed and she shuffled away from him, her back against the wall. On his knees on the bed he put both his hands above her head and grabbed her hands pinning them with above her as well. “Inuyasha? Please let me go, I’m tired.” “Come with me Kagome,” he ordered. He grabbed her tightly and jumped out the window. Used to this action by now, she didn’t scream but held on for dear life.

“Inuyasha, I want to go back right now! This isn’t funny,” she said shrilly. He brought her to the well and jumped through. Feeling the familiar sensation of riding through it flow through her reminded her of the excitement of the Feudal Era. They landed on the bottom on the other side with barely a sound. But Inuyasha didn’t stop there; he was off like a bullet, Kagome clinging to his fire rat’s robe in fright. They went past Kaede’s village, past anywhere Kagome even remotely remembered. Inuyasha took Kagome up to the mountains. Finally they arrived at their destination. It was a cave. Letting Kagome go, he nudged her forward. Uncertainly Kagome moved into the cave. Inside it was cozy, furs, food, and light. It had looked almost invisible from outside.

“Follow me,” Inuyasha commanded. He wasn’t acting like his normal self and Kagome was freaked. There was another opening within the cave which led to a natural hot springs within the mountains. Kagome admired the beauty of it all and sighed. “What do you think?” Inuyasha asked softly, all trace of menace gone from his body. Kagome realized it was like a lover’s suite, “Kikyo will love it,” she said dully. “Now can I go home?” Inuyasha recoiled like she’d slapped him and his menace returned. Striding forward he grabbed her hands. He opened his mouth to say something, but couldn’t find the words.

Kagome struggled against him and pulled free-unfortunately, she’d used too much strength and went flying into the hot spring. Inuyasha began to laugh as she shot up spluttering. Growling, she ordered, “Turn around and get out, I might as well use the spring.” Inuyasha left her. The animosity she’d felt from him and saw in his aura had frightened her, but her accident had melted it away, and for that she was glad. Stripping off her clothing she threw them on to the side and plunged back into the springs. Drifting in it, with her head underwater I imagine it was quite a shock to feel a pair of arms encircle her waist. Bursting forward, she turned and spun to face her new companion in anger. “Who?!” Inuyasha’s serious face met hers and she gasped. Realizing he was naked and remembering she was too, Kagome pulled away in fright and embarrassment. Inuyasha pulled her back into his arms and rested his arms loosely but snugly around her waist; hooking them together. Stunned she didn’t notice his head move down, but she certainly felt his lips on her neck.

Kagome’s legs turned to jelly and words failed her. Inuyasha held her tightly, holding her up and enjoying her taste. He wanted the real her, but she might faint if he tried to get a taste down there. His mouth continued to work its way from her neck to between her breasts and back up. He didn’t let himself get carried away. Standing up straight he let her go for a moment and returned with soap and a fluffy ball. He lathered the fluffy ball up and grabbed her again. By now Kagome had regained her sense. “What are you doing?!” she screeched. Mercilessly he held her close, her back pressed against him, her body turned away and smoothed the fluffy ball down her front, enjoying the view he was getting. Kagome spluttered with embarrassment, even though the situation was highly arousing and the feel of Inuyasha behind her, holding her like that and touching her softly was making her want to groan.

“Inuyasha, let me go,” she whimpered. Inuyasha ignored her and scrapped a clawed hand up her thigh with his free hand. Into her ear he whispered, “I can smell how delicious you are Kagome, I know you want this.” A tear slid down her face, “It’s not about that. You don’t love me.” Suddenly her fury pulsed and she broke away. The soft soap dripped down her body erotically, making Inuyasha shiver with anticipation. He met her gaze thoughtfully and carelessly scratched his chin. “Who says I don’t?” Kagome’s breath hitched. “Well-well…you, you loved Kikyo, she’s your-“
“Nah Kagome; loved is the key word here. Did I? Or was I so desperate for company that I deluded myself into believing I was?” Kagome sank up to her neck into the water to hide her nakedness and said, “No, you are. I’m not a slut Inuyasha. The only reason you brought me here is because Kikyo probably turned you down. Now her reincarnation will satisfy your needs, right? I’m not like that.” “Kagome,” Inuyasha sighed. “You don’t get it. I made this place for you! The only reason I was hung out with Kikyo was because I needed her knowledge of human marriages, and god forbid I ask someone who would say something. I asked Sesshoumaru too, about demon mating rituals, and they’re basically the same as human marriages.” “That’s not true, Inuyasha.”

“Kagome, open your eyes and ears and let go of the past. I love you; I’ve been trying to tell you for weeks now. And dammit Kagome, it’s time you gave me my wish.” Kagome’s chest constricted. “So that’s what this is really about. You want your wish. Sure Inuyasha, have your damn wish.” Standing fully, her breasts bouncing from the force in which she stood Kagome forgot her embarrassment momentarily and strode forward to prod him rudely in the chest. “How dare you use me like that Inuyasha-” she began. He snatched her quickly and pressed his mouth against hers. Once again her body failed her and she held on to him desperately. Her body was responding greedily, against her will and she was fighting hard to regain herself. “Be my mate,” he whispered when they broke apart. “That’s my one wish. Marry me Kagome.” Kagome forgot to breathe as a silver necklace with a small silver ring and blue sapphire was placed over her head. She fainted. Inuyasha scooped her up and continued washing her body. No sense in not cleaning his future mate.

Kagome awoke in the arms of Inuyasha on a bed of downy feather-like blankets. She yawned and snuggled closer, then fell over herself to pull away once her brain re-fed her the last scene before she fainted. Inuyasha was snoring slightly and he looked so cute she felt her breath hitch. A strand of his silver hair fell across his face which she gently removed. The hair fell across his ear now, and it twitched irritably. Kagome lost her reason. Bending over him-still nude, but not realizing it-she went for his ears. A soft purr started at the base of his throat and he whined endearingly. Overwhelmed by her love for him she swooped down and kissed the cute little puppy-dog ear. Inuyasha smiled and opened his eyes. He pulled her over him and kissed both her eyelids, the tip of her nose, her cheeks, and finally her lips. His hands weren’t as idle as she thought they’d be for someone who’d been asleep. With a startled gasp she broke away and looked down at him. He was gorgeous. He looked seductive and cute at the same time.

“So?” he questioned lightly, tugging a strand of her long black hair. He grinned when she blushed. “Were you serious?”
“Do I lie?” he teased. Kagome raised a sarcastic eyebrow, “Yes.”
Inuyasha coughed, “Okay, I do, but not about something like this.” He stroked her cheek softly, “Mate me?” Kagome hesitated, “What about Kikyo?” Inuyasha He sighed, “What about her?” Kagome frowned slightly, “You know what I mean,” she complained.
“If I wanted her I would have kidnapped her instead of you, if I wanted her I would have washed her and brought her to my bed,” Inuyasha stated seriously. “But I don’t Kagome, I want you. What else do you want me to say?” Kagome sighed and rested her forehead on his chest. “You know, I haven’t the slightest clue.”

Inuyasha pulled her down with him and kissed her ardently. His claws traced promises along her back and for some reason Kagome desperately wanted him to bite her, scratch, something, anything, he was being too gentle. She grabbed his hands and nibbled his fingers gently. Inuyasha snorted. “Are you craving rough passion?” he whispered, eyes glowing in the darkened room. Kagome closed her eyes and felt heat spread to her face and a fire ignite in her belly. “I don’t know,” she said uncertainly.

Inuyasha’s fangs scraped against her shoulders, making her hiss with delight. He pulled back laughing, “Ah, you like ze fangs?” He bit gently just above her breast and pinned her down beneath him. “Let’s have fun, shall we?” Kagome arched out to him as claws slid down her waist to her thighs and the fire in her belly burned. His teeth grazed across her chest and his tongue roughly licked around her breast. Whimpering Kagome tangled her hands in his hair. Kagome was getting really turned on, Inuyasha’s sharp scent caught it and it was so delicious his eyes started flecking red. Kagome waited with anticipation. “Fuck me,” she whispered hotly. He growled into her ear and inserted two skilled fingers into her pussy. Kagome writhed beneath him and she let go of his hair to dig her nails into his back, leaving crescent marks on him. She could feel his erect arousal against her and it made her wetter. He pumped his digits in and out of her, then pulled his fingers out and licked them. “Ah, so good, it should be illegal.” He slithered down her body elegantly and pushed her legs open. Kagome blushed and tried to hide herself, but Inuyasha wouldn’t let her. “Don’t be embarrassed,” he cooed. “You’re beautiful Kagome.”

Kagome mewled when she felt his tongue touch her folds. Her nails dug into her palms and she bit back her moans which created a growl-like sound in the back of her throat. Inuyasha loved that sound and her scent, and rewarded her by sucking hard on her clit which caused her to whimper and arch out. He pushed her back down firmly with a smirk. “Moan for me Kagome,” he managed to say. His eyes were still flecked with red and it was getting harder and harder to control his instincts.

He varied the pressure and the suction until honey pooled into his mouth and Kagome let out a tortured moan and closed her eyes. Inuyasha raised himself and pushed into her wet opening intensely. With a small cry Kagome opened her eyes and looked at him, he licked away the tears that dripped down her face. “M’ sorry,” he whispered apologetically. Kagome smiled at him weakly, “That’s alright,” she murmured, her voice a throaty whisper. “It’s bound to hurt the first time.” She wrapped her legs firmly around him and tugged him closer. He froze as he picked up the scent of her blood, “Kagome, I smell blood…” She stroked his face carelessly, “It’s alright Inuyasha, don’t worry about it. I trust you.” She kissed him and tasted herself on him. Inuyasha moved slightly and she moaned into their kiss. Eyes glinting now, Inuyasha moved again and Kagome shot him a lethal glare, “Don’t tease!” she breathed. With a grin Inuyasha began to thrust into her, and Kagome threw back her head with a pleasured sound of delight. His guttural groan wasn’t missed by her ears however and her inner muscles squeezed him tightly. Neither of them knew how long they made love for, but the climax they hit together was incredible and Kagome barely felt Inuyasha’s fangs pierce her between her neck and shoulder. She bit him back, for some odd reason, as though compelled to and licked up the tiny drop if blood she drew forth. Inuyasha, likewise, was licking her clean. Her clean sweat was delicious too and he wanted nothing more than to lick every bit of her salty and delectably appetizing skin. He pulled out of her regretfully and lay down beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist. “You are beautiful Kagome,” he whispered into her ear. She yawned and snuggled close to him, not pulling back this time. “Imagine what fun we can have in the hot springs later…” she said as she nibbled his kawaii ear. Inuyasha shivered, “I can’t wait, Kagome."

Elsewhere the sky was turning pink and a household was awakening to no Kagome or Inuyasha. The elders of the group sniggered and muttered, “Finally,” to themselves, while the younger ones looked around worriedly. Sango was in stitches, laughing hysterically with Kagura. Ayame showed up at the door and found everyone behaving strangely. Only Kouga seemed normal, if a bit grumpy so she approached him. “What’s going on?” she asked.

“It seems Inuyasha has taken Kagome with him to the well. I tracked their scents there,” he grumbled. Ayame giggled, “It’s about time too, Kagome needed to relieve some tension.” Kouga glared. Sango stopped laughing and gasped. “Oh no! What about Kagome’s date? That Hobo guy is going to be crushed!” Kagura shrugged, “Meh, it won’t kill him.” Sango shook her head, “No…we can’t disturb Kagome…but-I know! Why doesn’t one of us replace her? Not me though, I’m not good with boys.” Kagura shook her head, “I might end up hurting him.” Ayame looked around, “I guess Sesshoumaru will have to do.” Said Demon Lord didn’t even bother glancing at them, he slurped his coffee calmly. Since entering Kagome’s world, he really couldn’t get enough of it. Kouga sighed, “Ayame you’re the only one who can go. Why don’t you? You owe that to Kagome at least. Plus she left a whole bunch of illusion cloaks, so she doesn’t need to cast a fresh one for you, go put one on.”

Ayame flinched and started, “But…” Kouga shook his head, “No buts, it would kill her to break his heart and she’s probably to preoccupied to think of anything else.” Ayame looked up and Kouga angrily. ‘I don’t want to, and I don’t have to.” Kouga looked at her and saw the hurt in her eyes-I mean, yes, he is dense, but not completely stupid. “I’m sorry Ayame, you’re right,” he said softly. Ayame shrugged it off, “Well, I don’t have anything else to do, I just got bored. Might as well go on a date…What’s a date anyways?” Nobody really knew.

“I think Kagome said it’s like courting, but I wasn’t really paying attention,” Sango started. “I would have listened more closely but Miroku had walked by and groped me again.” Kagura sighed exasperatedly, “Just dress up in something sexy and tell him Kagome isn’t feeling well and that she wanted you to go with him. With your colour I’d wear something green, and with your legs I’d wear a short skirt or dress. After all, we demon females have to look good enough to eat, right?” Sesshoumaru walked over and dumped something on Ayame’s lap. “This will do,” he said and walked away to check on Rin. It was a silky short dark green dress that matched her eyes. She blushed and looked horrified. “I can’t wear this! It’s shorted than my wolf skins, and my wolf skins are short!”

Sango smiled, “Too bad. What time did Kagome say?” Kagura shrugged, “I don’t know. Go ask her mother, she’ll know.” Kagome’s mother did indeed know and told them. “Why?” she asked curiously. “Oh, no reason in particular,” replied Ayame with a small smile. She went back and lay on the couch, pondering and irritable. Kagome and Inuyasha still weren’t back at 7:30 so Ayame sadly got up, fixed her hair and slipped on the dress. She sat back down with a sigh and waited. Sure enough someone was at the door at 7:50 and Ayame went to answer it. Everyone else had mysteriously melted away. Hojo was there with a smile, and he asked, “Is Kagome home?” Ayame smiled back and invited him in. “Unfortunately Kagome has come down with something and she asked me to take her place. I hope you don’t mind, she says when she’s feeling better she’ll see you at school.” Hojo blinked in surprise. “Um-uh, well okay. I guess I could do that.” Ayame sat down, her short dress riding high and attracting Hojo’s gaze. He blushed and looked away. “My name’s Hojo, pleased to meet you.” He was cute Ayame found and she smiled back in a friendly fashion and replied with, “Name’s Ayame and the pleasure’s all mine.” She liked him immediately and Hojo was intensely attracted to her, and felt something feral and dangerous around her. They left laughing and had fun on their date. Everyone else was waiting for the Inuyasha and Kagome’s return or doing homework. The night was long and dull; imagine all the excitement explaining and details that would be necessary when everyone arrived back.
