Author's note: Penguin and I would like to announce that when we wrote this chapter, neither of us had yet seen or heard of the 2nd Inu-Yasha movie-so we didn't steal their idea! (We like to joke they stole ours…)

(Having served their purpose, the vines disintegrate and the room is left empty. As the group begins to move away and search for everyone else, Kikyou awakens in a storeroom with a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. She rose from the table she was lying on and wandered down the halls and into the room with the screen where Naraku is talking to Dornkirk, Kanna standing behind him some distance. Kikyou looked up at Dornkirk, and suddenly that warm and fuzzy feeling intensified.)

Kikyou: Dornkirk…

Dornkirk: Eh? *looking over at Kikyou, who looks normal except for the rapt expression on her face*

Kikyou: You're so old…and…sexy….

Dornkirk: Oh? *smiling, pleased*

Naraku: Oh, is that how she was fate altered? She's attracted to older men? Well, at least now she has good taste in men, not like before. Well, that's certainly amusing, eh, Dorny-kins?

Dornkirk: *talking to a bright-eyed Kikyou* Oh, so you think I'm sexy, do you?

Kikyou: Oh, yes…your long, curly hair turns me on…I simply cannot resist its round curlers!

Naraku: *obviously jealous* Dornkirk…why are you listening to this wench?

Dornkirk: Hmm? Oh, come now, Naraku…

Naraku: N-Naraku?! Ah! What happened to our pet names-I am your Monkey-kins!

Dornkirk: *shrugs*

Naraku: *enraged* I thought you loved me…but I was wrong. Well, if you will not complete this plan of ours, I certainly will not be deterred from my goals! I denounce you forever, DORNKIRK! *he leaves and slams the door behind him, Kanna following*

Dornkirk: Oh dear…my darling Monkey-kins…where is he going? I did not mean to be so harsh with him…but he can be so terribly jealous sometimes. He has no faith in me.

Kikyou: Ah, Dornkirk-sama, all is well, I am here with you.

Dornkirk: …but my Monkey-kins….

(In the meantime, Inu-Yasha has been running around the Floating Fortress, fate-altered to his youkai-blood form and searching for Naraku. The group of people from the Illusion Death episode is walking down another hall as Inu-Yasha darts past into an adjacent hallway. All that the group can see, however, is a streak of red for he is moving so fast.)

Kagome: ! *runs after the streak, calling back to the others* Go find the others, I'll join you in a minute!

(She sprints down the hallway as the others, slightly confused, wander off. At first, she is not able to catch up to him, but Inu-Yasha eventually arrives at a cross-section and cannot decide which direction to go. Kagome runs up and stops a couple feet before reaching him, panting.)

Kagome: Inu…-Yasha….

Inu-Yasha: *turning to look at her, his face streaked and his eyes burning bright red*

Kagome: *stepping forward, her expression pained* But…how? You defeated Ryuukossei and sealed your youkai blood…

Inu-Yasha: *stepping away from her* Go away!

Kagome: *shaking her head, still stepping forward* Iie. I saw how much pain you were in when this happened last time…I'm not going to let you go through that again. *by this point, she is within an arm's reach of Inu-Yasha and she stops there, looking him square in the eye* Inu-Yasha…. *she reaches out to him and touches his shoulder*

Inu-Yasha: *shudders at her touch but gradually relaxes, staring into her eyes* Ka…

Kagome: *coming closer* I don't want you to be in pain…. *she looks up at him, their faces very close, and his eyes begin to soften*

Inu-Yasha: *his eyes begin to fade back to amber and the streaks on his face start to disappear*

Kagome: *embraces Inu-Yasha, her eyes brimming with tears* Inu-Yasha…

Inu-Yasha: *back to his old self and very surprised* Ka…Kagome! *his expression softens and he hugs her awkwardly* What happened…?

Kagome: *looking up again* Your youkai blood…it had…

Inu-Yasha: *surprised* What? But how is that possible…? I was strapped to some machine…Naraku was there…and…

Kagome: Another one of Naraku's tricks! Celena was telling me about something called fate-alteration…maybe that's what happened…they changed your fate.

Inu-Yasha: Eh?

Kagome: *shaking her head, but smiling* It doesn't matter, as long as you're not in pain….

Inu-Yasha: Kagome…thank you. *he pulls her into a heartfelt hug*

Kagome: I just couldn't stand to see you in pain…when you're in pain, I'm in pain, too.

Inu-Yasha: *holding her tighter*

Kagome: I guess I…I just care about you too much.

Inu-Yasha: ! *he looks surprised, but his expression gradually changes to a smile* Kagome… *as he looks down into her surprised face, he cradles her cheek in his palm and pulls her into a kiss*

(*Tear* I'm dying, here! It's just…so…cute! I wish they could do something like this in the series/manga at some point…they're so perfect for each other!!! But, anyhoo, we're going to interrupt this little moment and leave the two lovebirds alone-err, maybe lovedogs would be more appropriate…not sure if Inu-Yasha would like being called a "bird", then again, I'm not sure if Kagome would like being called a dog, either…not like they could do anything about it, but yeah….
