The Guardians of earth

Chapter 3: The journey begins

Have you ever had one of those days? You wake up in a strange place. Your head
is like swissed cheese and your mind is all
foggy like. You try to focus your senses but you can't. Your eyes are a blur,
your ears are a constant buzz, you smell
a deep smoke, the ground that you sit on is like jelly and your mouth feels like
you swallowed a whole bucket of tar.
In other words your senses are all messed up.

This is exactly what one Ranma Saotome and one Ryoga Hibiki were feeling when
they woke up. They are in a dark room.
A place they do not recognize. They stand up in this unfamiliar place, trying to
get back their balance. They open their
eyes, and are greeted by the sight of a silver wall. Gaining their senses back
they notice each other, and decide to
voice their thoughts.

"Where the hell is this place?" Came out of the mouth of the eternally lost boy.
The pigtailed aquatransexual didn't answer.
He was just as clueless as the other. Then a strong male voice behind them let
itself known. "Maybe we can answer that
question." The boys quickly turned around and were greeted by the sight of two
figures, one darker than any shadow and the
other bathed in a white light brighter than the sun.

Both boys instantly recognized the two persons. They were the ones from their
dreams. The two persons were wearing long
robes that even covered their feet. They were both wielding staffs with circles
at the top. In the circles were carved
pictures. The dark figure had a crescent moon carved in his circle while the
light figure had a sun carved in his.

The two boys shocked faces turned into those of serenity when the figure bathed
in light adressed them.
"We welcome you Ranma Saotome and Ryoga Hibiki. You must have many questions as
to why you you are here. I promise you,
these will be answered in time. Until then please let us speak." the figure of
light had a very beautiful and feminine
voice. When the two boys looked close they could tell that the figure in black
was a male while the one in white was female.

Before the white clothed woman could continue Ranma quickly interrupted her.
"Wait a minute! You drag us here, I don't
even know how you did it, but you expect us to trust you just like that?! Who
the hell are you poeple?!" Ranma said this in a loud and rather obviously
irritated voice. The dark figure frowned yet it was very
hard to notice under the cape of his robe. The light figure however seemed to be
thoughtful about this, then smiled
and spoke.

"Very well, I apologize for being so rude. To answer your question. I am
Larelind the mistress of Light and this is my
brother.." "Darcyn the master of Darkness" the male figure interrupted,
finishing for her. "Now that we know each other
would you please listen to what we have to tell you?" he continued mimicking
Ranma irritated voice.

This for some reason quickly silenced Ranma and his protests. He wasn't really
scared of these two people, neither was
Ryoga, but they decided to be quiet and hear what they had to say. "Uh, sure go
ahead. Sorry about that." Ranma quickly
said apologizing for earlier actions. He knew that he blew his top, and he
didn't like getting angry. Ryoga the whole
while just kept his mouth shut.

"Now, as I was saying. You two probably have many questions and I assure you,
all of them will be answered in time.
First of all you have been brought here because you two are each one of the
seven chosen ones. One of the seven Guardians of the
earth. The marks that you currently have are the symbols and proof of that."
Ranma and Ryoga take a quick look at their
marks and see that they are visible. They are not glowing but you can see them
like they were a part of their skin.

"There are a total of seven guardians. Each guardian controls one element. The
elements are Fire, Water, Lightning, Wind,
Earth, Metal and Wood. The reason that the guardians are chosen is because
right this moment the thirteen generals of
the nether world or Hell as you know it, are awakening. The same thing happened
2500 years ago. That is when the first
guardians were born. You may not know this but the blood of those legends are
flowing through your veins." now she had no
more words to say.

Ranma and Ryoga were rather shocked at this. Who wouldn't be. After stuttering
for about a full minute Ranma was again the
one who spoke. "So your telling me that we're some kind of legendary guardians
that are supposed to save the world from
some kind of demons? I can live with that, I guess. What about you man?" he
finished by glancing at Ryoga. "I'm shocked,
that's for sure. But if we're supposed to protect the world from some kind of
hell risen bastards then I guess we gotta do
what we've gotta do."

"Heh, that's exactly what I was thinking. But I have a few questions. Like, how
did we get transported here?" Ranma asked
with curiosity. Surprisingly Darcyn was the one to answer. "First of all you
should know something about your marks.
All the guardians are drawn to each other by their marks. If there are guardians
on the same planet they will be magically
drawn close to each other. So if two guardians are in the same town or area for
that matter the magic becomes insanely
strong. So you two were drawn together."

"As for your question. When a guardian who has not been awakened touches the
symbol on another guardians forehead, he gets
transported here. Both of you were not fully awoken yet. So when you touched
each others symbol, you got transported here."
Darcyn said all this in a calm and collected voice. Like he was in control but
didn't want to be too rough.

"Okay, we can swallow that. Next question. Who exactly are you guys? And what is
your role in this?" Ranma was again the
one who asked the questions. Ryoga for his part, kept his mouth shut and
listened. This time Larelind answered.

"As we have told you we are the masters of Light and Darkness, the two parts of
humanities soul. Before you ask no, I am
not good and my brother is not evil. We merely represent different parts of the
human souls. I represent the light while
my brother represents the darkness. People cannot live without the light nor can
they live without the darkness. As for
our part in this. We are the ones who will teach you what you need to know, and
also train you in the ways of magic
and your respective elements. We will tutor you until you are ready."

"So when does the training start?" asked Ranma, he was rather excited about
learning new techniques. Ryoga was also anxious
to find new ways to fight, and using those teachings to beat Ranma in their
upcoming fight wouldn't be bad.

"Unfortunately we cannot start teaching you yet, before training all of the
guardians must be found. In other words, you
must find the other guardians. As you know guardians are drawn to each other. So
you shouldn't have too much trouble
finding them. We know that two guardians are currently in Tokyo or at least very
close. One guardian is in an alternate
past, but seems to have contact to this time. Yet another guardian is in an
alternate future, and the last one is in
another universe." This was all stated rather clearly by Darcyn.

Ranma and Ryoga stood there with their mouth open. *We have to go to other
universes?!* They both thought at the same time.
"So where do we look first?" Ryoga was the one who asked this time. Probably
because Ranma had already asked too much and
got too much shocking info as answers.

"We would suggest going to Juban first. There is a strong signal in that area.
After that just look around the Tokyo area.
You should do fine." Larelind said. "This may be a big shock on all of you but
believe us when we say that the guardians
must be found. If that does not happen there will be no hope for humanity, there
will be no hope for any life to tell the
truth. We are sorry to drag you into this."

Ranma got out of his mouth gaping shock and shook off her apology. "There's no
reason to apologize. I'm actually pretty
surprised at myself to tell you the truth. Normally I would never agree to such
a thing. But an opportunity like this is too
good to let it slip out of my grasp. By what I understand the techniques you're
gonna teach us are pretty strong. I never
pass away a chance to become a better martial artist. I think I've changed a lot
in these past weeks. Even more in the past
days. So, I'm not just doing this for you or the people, I'm doing this for
myself as well. *Whoa I used a lot of new words*

*Whoa he used a lot of new words* Though Ryoga as Ranma finished his speech.
"You know what, I agree with Ranma. I'm going
to do this for myself as well. I've changed a lot in the past weeks and these
last days were a big shock but that's okay.
I think the biggest change happened after Ranma's failed wedding attempt, I
finally saw the pain in his eyes and the
realised that all this time I've been blaming the wrong person for my problems.
So, I'm gonna do this and when those demons
are dead, I'll continue on. We all have lives to live."

Ranma watched Ryoga say this, and was proud to call him a friend. He agreed with
Ryoga, they would do this for themselves
and then continue on. "I've got one more question though. When we find the other
guardians, are we just supposed to touch
their foreheads. Then they'll touch ours, and we'll be transported here?"

"Yes, exactly. When you find another guardian, your hands will touch the other
guardians forehead and he or she will touch
yours. When that happens then you and the other one will be transported here. I
must warn you though, there is a possibility
that the ones from the nether world will send some lesser demons to assassinate
any of the guardians. You two included.
So please be careful, wherever you are. Alright?"

"Yeah sure Dark, we'll be fine. So where are you going to send us now?" Ranma
quickly said. He wanted to find the other
guardians already, so he could learn and study from these two.

"I would ask you to please call me Darcyn, and call my sister Larelind. Anyway,
guardian of Lightning and guardian of Earth.
Your journey has just begun. May the gods bless you both. We will be in mostly
constant telepathic conversation. So if you
need help or advise, don't hesitate to think about it. If you do we will answer
you through your minds. Now go, and come
back safely, both of you." That said both fighters disappeared in a quick light.


"Do you think that they will be able to accomplish this task?" Larelind asked
her brother once the boys had dissapeasred.

"Of course, we are talking about the only two human individuals that have
accomplished many miracles without the help of
magic or anything of the sort. They only use their bodies strength, and they
have done so much with only that. They will
accomplish this. I have faith in them."

Back in Ryogas room the two martial artists appeared again. After looking at
each other for a minute in silent shock for
a minute Ranma voices his opinion of the situation. "You know what Ryoga? I
think we just willingly walked into a nightmare.

Ryoga looked back at Ranma and answered. "For once Ranma, you're right." Then
the two boys started packing for their long
and of course, crazy journey.


Authors notes: Well there goes chapter 3. I hope it wasn't too OOC. If it was
then I'm sorry. But this story will become
more OOC later. Because of the characters changing their attitudes.
