Phase Two: Trouble in Inuyasha's Forest!

Kagome paused, her chopsticks a millimeter away from her mouth. Her eyes were wide as she turned to look in the direction of Inuyasha's Forest.

'A jewel fragment? But that's impossible it wasn't there a second ago. No…it doesn't feel right. What the hell am I sensing?'

Miroku noticed his companion's troublesome expression and put down his own bowl of ramen.

"Kagome-sama? Is there something wrong?"

"I'm not sure Miroku-kun, I think I feel a Shikon fragment-"

At those words Inuyasha jumped up into action. "So what are we waiting for?! Let's go!"

"But it feel's odd." Kagome finished.

"Like it's been tinted, Kagome-chan?" Sango asked.

"No, I can't place the feeling but I know it's giving me the creeps." She said wrapping her hands around herself.

"I suggest we find out what this threat is before it find us." Miroku said pulling himself up with his staff.

Though still unsure, Kagome nodded and stood up as well. The little kitsune kit scurried up her leg, up her back and onto her shoulder where he hid himself under her long raven hair. Kagome absentmindedly reached up to pet the kit on the head as she picked up her pack and followed the others.

Inuyasha's Forest, Bone Eaters Well

Ranma looked around him in complete awe. How the hell did they end up in a forest? Where was the Higurashi shrine?

"Where are we Ranma?" Akane asked as she dropped her pack beside her.

"I don't know but," He turned to looked back at the well. "I think us falling into the well had something to do with it."

"Uh huh. But what I wanna know is what was that weird blue light?" Akane asked looking back at the well also.

"I-Akane do you feel that?"

Akane blinked as a puzzled expression crossed her features.

"What is it Ranma?"

Ranma suddenly turned around to face the forest around them. He dropped his pack and took a fighting stance motioning for Akane to stay behind him.

"Stay back, Akane, I don't know what I'm sensing but it's not pleasant."

Akane gulped her eyes searching the surrounding bush. In an act of fear Akane's hand reached up to grab her shirt and in doing so she grasped the Hakainko no Tama underneath her gi top and gasped.

Ranma turned to Akane as the gasp escaped her throat.

"What's wrong?" His eyes roaming over her body checking to make sure she hadn't hurt her self.

Instead of answering him directly Akane pulled out the gem from within her shirt. What she saw not only caused her to gasp again but Ranma as well.

The Hakainko no Tama was glowing a soft blue light. Intense amounts of energy was pouring out of it and it seemed to be pulling them towards it's power.

"Ra-Ranma? What's this mean? Why is it glowing like that?"

Unable to remove his eyes from the gem as well Ranma simply shrugged. "I have no idea-" He cut himself off as he turned to the forest again.

"Get ready! Something's coming!"

Outskirts of the Village

Inuyasha froze as the wind shifted and several unfamiliar scents tickled his nose. His eyes narrowed as a low growl escaped his throat causing his companions to stop and look at him.

"What is it Inuyasha?" Sango asked her grip on Hiraikotsu tighten.

"Three unfamiliar smells are coming from within my forest, a human, a miko and a youkai." He growled out.

"A miko? Is it Kikyo?" Miroku asked glancing at Kagome's crestfallen expression.

"No, this miko is pure and very much alive." He said absently.

"So what are we waiting for? Let's go help her!" Shippo said.

Inuyasha nodded but a look of confusion and something Kagome couldn't place her finger on still remained on his face.

Inuyasha's Forest

Ranma felt it one second before it hit. With a cry of pain Ranma flew to the side and slid to a stop about ten feet away from where he once stood. A nasty looking neko youkai snarling above him.

"RANMA!" Akane cried a second before she herself was attacked from behind.

The first thing that registered in Ranma's mind was that what ever attacked him was fast, very fast. Then he heard Akane's cry and as he turned to see what was wrong his vision locked in on the creature above him: a neko.

Ranma's body locked up.

"Ne-ne NEKO!"

Akane pushed herself up with her forearms and looked around towards Ranma.

'Oh, no! It's a neko, at this rate Ranma will go into the Nekoken.' Akane thought franticly.

With much effort on her part she got to her feet and looked back at her attacker. Indeed it was a neko youkai, a female one. She looked more like a cheetah than a cat with her yellow fur and black spotted pattern, her tail was long and thin until the end where it was white and very puffy. Her light brown hair was cut short to the nape of her neck and her yellow eyes had a mad look to them. She wore what only be described as short red vest and a panty.

"Stupid human bitch, you should have stayed down on the ground. Then I wouldn't have to kill you, but now I can't you live…" She grinned letting her sharp fangs gleam in the moonlight.

Akane shivered involuntarily at the look the female neko was giving her.

She then turned to her partner who was suddenly thrown off his human prey.

"What the hell?" He asked skidding to a stop. His dark eyes searched out Ranma's figure as he quickly stood up and backed away from him.

"I can smell the fear on you human, it's rolling off you in waves!" he grinned flexing his claws.

"Ranma! We have to go back, you can't stay here like this! You'll go into the-"

"So you want me to just run away, Akane, is that it?" He asked turning to her and searching her eyes.

"Is that what you think of me? You think that every time I come face to face with a ca-ca-one of those I should just run and hide? Is that it?!" Anger rose in his voice now.

"No, that's not it, it's just I know how you can get Ranma and I know you hate it! And this isn't Shampoo in her cursed form, this is a YOUAKI! A youkai that wants to kill you not cuddle you!"

Ranma put his head down allowing his bangs hide his eyes. "I'm sorry Akane, I can't turn my back now. This is something I'm going to have to face for the rest of my life and just when things get a bit freaky I'm not going to turn around and run. I fight on!" Ranma yelled turning to the male neko youkai.

He chuckled. "My, my, a spirited one I see, well as touching as that little speech was I'm afraid I'm going to have to kill you now!"

He then jumped into the air the full moon at his back as he came down on Ranma his fangs digging into his neck.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" Ranma cried falling beneath the creature.

"NNNNNNNNOOOOO RANNNNNNMMMMMMMAAAAAA!" Akane's voice drowned out his own cry of pain.

That is how Inuyasha and company found them as they jumped out of the surrounding trees.

"Sankon Tetsusou!" Inuyasha cried as his claws dug into the back of the male youkai.

He cried out in pain arching his back and removing his fangs from Ranma's neck. With a hiss he jumped back to land beside his mate.

"Fucking Inu!" He hissed.

"Ranma!" Akane cried as she ran over to him stumbled along the way. She stooped down beside him and placed his head in her lap. Ranma's neck was oozing out blood as his eyes rolled back into his head.

"Oh, Kami-sama no! Ranma don't you dare die on me! Don't you dare!" She cried tears running down her face freely.

Kagome looked at this girl and her heart bled for her.

'I wish there was something I could do to help her…' She thought sadly.

Sango jumped down from Kirara's back on let her beloved Hiraikotsu fly into the air aimed at the female neko. She had no choice but to hit the dirt to avoid being sliced in half.

"You have some nerve, neko! Coming into my forest of all places!" Inuyasha growled out flexing his claws like the male neko had done earlier to Ranma.

"We smelt the Shikon no Tama, you can't blame us for trying to get our hands on it, I hear that's what you're doing these days Inuyasha!" The male snarled.

"Well you attacked the wrong human! They don't have any shards of the jewel!" Kagome yelled.

A shocked look crossed the neko's faces. "What? But we smelled it on the female!"

"That's ridiculous, I don't sense any shards on her!"

All the while Akane was trying to stop the bleeding on Ranma's neck but it was no use.

"Ne-ne Neko!" Ranma continued to mutter over and over in his almost comatose state.

Akane just cried harder pulling him to her in a fierce hug.

"Don't you dare die on me Ranma, it's not fair if you leave me like this…I never even got to tell you the truth."

Unexpectedly the wind changed direction again, Inuyasha and to two neko youkai froze and turned to the obvious human male bleeding to death in the girl's arms.

"What the fuck?!"

"Yoooooowwwwwwwllllll!"

Akane stiffened at the familiar sound from the man in her arms.

"No!" she whispered clenching her eyes shut.

"Meeeeeeooooowwwwwww!"

She pushed away from him to look down into his large blue-gray eyes that now took on a cat like appearance. She felt him move from her lap and knew she could do nothing at that moment to bring him back into her lap.

Neko-Ranma stood on all fours his eyes scanning the people around him, separating them into friend and foe categories. His eyes locked with Inuyasha's for a moment and he knew all he needed to. His eyes then fell upon the youkai exterminator and the monk before turning to the real threat: the two-neko youkai.

Neko-Ranma hissed at them with such venom it sent chills down Akane's spine.

"Ranma," She called out to him and Inuyasha was dumbfounded to see the neko pause and turn to the girl. "Don't kill them." The tone in her voice left to place for argument.

Neko-Ranma meowed in response before turning back to the pair.

"What the hell is going on here?! That boy was a human a second ago! Now he's a youkai!" The male neko asked.

"Your guess is as good as mine asshole but from the looks of it he's beyond pissed at you." Inuyasha smirked. "Too bad for you."

That was the only warning they had before Neko-Ranma raced towards the unsuspecting pair his 'claws' extended.

Inuyasha couldn't help but smirk at the fight before him. Whoever this human/youkai was he liked his style. He was strong and swift too. At that moment he almost wished 'he' was fighting the boy and not the filthy neko's.

With a final slash in the air and a cry of unbelievable pain the fight was over. Like he 'promised' the boy did not kill them but from the amount of blood in the air Inuyasha knew they would be dead within the hour.

Taking a step towards the boy/youkai Inuyasha unsheathed his Tetsuagiga.

Neko-Ranma paused in cleaning the blood off his 'paw' to stare dead at the Inu youkai.

'what are you doing, friend?' He purred.

'Your 'mate' my have told you not to kill the youkai filth but I will not have such a discussing stench pollute My forest.' Inuyasha barked back.

Neko-Ranma stared long and hard at Inuyasha before he turned back to his cleaning.

'Do as you wish, it's you land.'

Inuyasha grinned lifting Tetsuagiga high into the air and

brought in down swiftly. The youkai were no more.

"Ranma! Here kitty kitty kitty." Akane cooed fresh tears

flowing down her face.

Neko-Ranma's head popped up and turned to her. With a happy

meow he raced over to Akane jumping into her open arms and getting into a comfortable poison on her lap where he purred loudly.

Akane smiled also the trouble gone, for the moment.

As she ran a hand through his hair she brushed his neck where the neko bit him. She gasped in shock as she noticed the wound was completely gone, there wasn't even a scar.

Two Hours later, Kaede's Hut

Akane sat on the opposite side of the fire with a sleeping Neko-Ranma in her lap, across from her sat four teenagers, a small child, and a fox of some kind.

"So who are you, wench?" Inuyasha growled after what seemed like forever.

"Inuyasha!" Kagome scolded hitting him in the arm but he sat unfazed by her 'attack'.

"Well?" He asked again.

Akane locked eyes with the silver haired youth and sighed.

"I'm Akane Tendo and this is Ranma Saotome, gomen nasi."

Kagome's eyes grew to the size of saucers.

"Akane-chan?! Is that you?"

Akane stared at the girl dressed in a school uniform she recognized only from pictures.

"Kagome-chan?!"

Well that's it folks, the longest chapter I've done to date. I literally spent the whole day on the computer writing this. From the time I came home from school (2:40) till the time I went to sleep (11:30)! Now that's a long time but I was committed to finish this no matter how long it took.
