Disclaimer: Um, yeah, well, the author is acting strange, but she wants me to tell ya she doesn't own nothing!!!!

Hi peeps! The story will get better, and the first chappie is kinda like an epilogue so there's no action. I'm just a new user so try the story out. Also, flame me all you want, it doesn't matter, because if I wrote a bad story (including the incident of the Confusion and Love) I deserve it too. Please do review though, and it will probably lift my poor, turned down spirit up!!! Happy reading. ^____^

Lunarainbow_me: Just so you know, I also post fanfics on fanfiction.net, by the user name lunarainbow! Oh, did I talk too much? Gomen, moving on…

By the Sea, By the Pirates

“ Um, is your name Misao?” Kaoru asked as the maids helps her up the gold-embroidered carriage.

“ Oh? Yes, I am.” Misao replied, quite startled by the princess' sudden outburst; she had been silent and dreamy looking when they got down.

“ And are you Megumi?” Kaoru asked, rather nervously, to the other maid. She is older and very pretty with her shiny black hair and full, red lips. Misao, on the other hand, is younger and childish. She has big, clear emerald eyes, and a long black braid.

“ Y..yes, m'princess” Megumi stuttered, looking fearful.

“ You needn't to look so afraid!” Kaoru laughed, “ I won't eat you.”

Megumi has a questioning look in her cold deep blue eyes. She thought for awhile and said curiously,

“ Yes, but why are you talking to us?”

Kaoru smiled brightly and answered,

“ I want to befriend you.” Was the simple answer.

Misao seemed to have lost her anxiousness, and began chanting on and on about what her life was like, and how Megumi's nickname was Fox Lady (Megumi scowled at this) and grumbled at how people were calling her Weasel Girl. They laughed and chatted in the carriage, all the way to the Grand Ball. The three became closer in an alarmingly fast rate. Deciding that Kaoru can be officially in their group, Misao and Megumi gave her the nickname Takuni ( Raccoon Girl ) , and they teased her about it so much, Kaoru couldn't help but laugh and like her young maids even more.

Finally, the carriage slowed down, and with one last jerk, stopped. A serving man dressed in yellow opened the door, while another on helped Kaoru to get off the carriage, followed closely by her new friends. For some reasons unknown, Kaoru thought the men looked like human sized canaries in their uniform. When Kaoru look up to see the building, she gasped. It was the grandest and most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Its colossal white bricks were splashed with colorful, bright flowers, and at the entrance, there were two wide, wooden poles with winding roses all around it. At the top of the poles, there were warm, dancing flames in a round glass ball. The bushes and rows of hedges were in perfect shape, and has sweet-smelling popies around them on the glossy green grass. On either side of it were huge water fountains, surrounded by stone angls, all carrying a basket of feather. Each baskets of feathers spirts of different colored water, while the tip of the fountain flows sparkling ones. Kaoru looked up more and found that the building has big, colorful windows, and right in the very center, a grand clock that is chimming it's way to 11:30, the time when the ball will start. She had a faint idea her father had made her this building in celebration of her upcoming 18th birthday as one of his presents.

“ Thank you, Father.” She whispered.

Grabbing the serving man's arm, she was lead to the towering silver doors, and as they swing open, Kaoru climbed some stairs and finally, stopping at aslightly smaller golden door.

“ This is the entrance to the ball, Princess Kaoru.” The man whispered. He then went through the door to do something, and then came back out. He motioned Kaoru to stand right behind the doors and as she did so, she heard a loud shrilly voice yell,

“ Presenting, Princess Kaoru!” He called, stretching the ` presenting'.

The golden doors opened, and Kaoru found herself in an enormous circular room. The shining chandeliers sparkled, and Kaoru felt her face burn when all of the excited guests stopped talking, and turned their eyes to her. Her father is sitting at the other side of the room, silently jerking his head for her to make the speech.

Kaoru cleared her throat and said nervously, “ I am here as Princess Kaoru, and I am very glad that all of you came. This Grand Ball is a very special ball, and I am to dance with all the princes, and I will decide who is to be my husband, or the next King of this country.”

At this, everyone started clapping and whispering excitedly; everyone wants to know who will be the lucky prince.

A short, royal footman raised his hands after the clappings an whisperings ended.

“ Let the ball begin!” He cried.

##########################

“ Urgh!” Kaoru sighed, disgusted, as she flop unceremoniously down on a soft armchair.

“ What's the matter, Takuni?” Megumi mocked.

Kaoru glared at her, “ What does it look like?”

“ Well, you should leave her alone then, Fox” Misao agreed.

“ Fine, fine. So what's going on?” Megumi asked, pretending to be serious.

“ Oh, it's nothing really,” Kaoru said, voice dripping with sarcasm, “ My feet only got stomped on for about 57 times, and some, I mean all of the princes are stupid. Not to mention some old geezers who said they're princes. They look like they ought to be my grandpas!”

Misao and Megumi laughed so hard they thought their sides would crack. Kaoru looked surly, however.

“ Go ahead. Laugh. I was the only one who had to deal with those crazy nutheads.” She growled.

“ Aw, cheer up. At least we got a good laugh.” Misao smirked.

“ Har har, very funny.”

“ Ohohohoho!” Megumi laughed, fox ears popping out her head.

“ Oookaay…” Kaoru and Misao sweatdropped.

“ Santa Clause is in town.” Misao muttered. Unfortunately for her, Megumi heard.

“ What did you say?”

“ I called you Santa Clause, so what?”

“ Weasel Girl!”

“ Fox!”

While Megumi and Misao were bickering at each other, Kaoru had been looking out the window at the beach. She sat for a while and suddenly said,

“Let's sneak down to the beach.”

Megumi and Misao stopped arguing and eyed Kaoru questionly, but went with her anyways. They distracted the guards by telling them they dropped a handkerchief and wanted to get it back. Since the guards were strong, but quite dim-witted, they fell for it.

“Well, that was easy.” Megumi sneered once they were outside.

“Those guards are so stupid I swear they would be tricked if we said a kangaroo was attacking us.” Misao sniggered.

“Quite true, how ab…” Kaoru began, but stopped when she spotted something.

There, among the rocks, were two girls. They were coming this way, so Kaoru thought they might as well greet them.

“Dang, this ball is boring.” Kagome complained. She kicked a rock and it rolled down onto the white-sand. She had snuck down from the ball with Sango, and now they're down at the beach. They didn't really need to do anything to say to the guards, really, since they were partly dozing off…

Flashback

“C'Mon, Sango! We must get to the ball!” Kagome cried.

“Okay, okay! I didn't know you got interested in balls now.” Sango said.

“Nah, I want to see if the princess is pretty or not,” Kagome explained, “and I promised Mother I would become her friend.”

“Okay, this ball had better be fun, though.” Sango muttered. She was thinking about how boring the other balls she had to attend with Kagome; princesses bring their maids with them to serve them, and since she was Kagome's best friend, she was always picked to go.

“Oh, forget about the ball, I only care about the princess.” Kagome said mischievously.

“I feel sorry for the princess.” Sango said with mocked sadness.

“Why?” Kagome asked curiously.

“You had that look when you said about her.” Sango answered simply.

“Don't worry; I daren't trick her into anything.”

“I don't believe you, but fine.”

“Kagome! Sango! Get in the carriage!” Kagome's mother shouted. They stopped talking and hurried off to get in the second carriage. Kagome said,

“I bet the princess has long, silky hair.”

“I think she will have green eyes”

And so enjoying themselves by guessing what the princess looked like, they arrived at the ball.

Kagome gaped at the Royal Ball Palace. It was so beautiful, and almost as big as a small castle. The furnitures were so fine and royal, too. She was led to a narrow hallway, and after a bit of turnings, she arrived at a wide, gold door. She gasped as she entered the room; Kagome thought the Ball Room was beautiful, too. There were so many people, and each of them wearing magnificent clothes. The room looked a mass of colors, and Kagome began to get excited. Just as she began looking around the room, a short man announced,

“Presenting Princess Kaoru!”

Kagome quickly averted her gaze from a certain group of women, and peered excitedly at the front of the room. The door opened, and in came the most beautiful woman Kagome had ever seen. Her smooth, curvy face was smiling softly, her blue eyes sparkling with delight. Her hair was beautifully done, and her dress looked so pretty on her curved body. She elegantly spoke her speech, and went down to dance with the princes.

“Wow! She's prettier than I thought!” Kagome whispered to Sango.

“I know! She's so elegant, too!” Samgo whispered back.

They watched as Kaoru danced, and marveled at how swift and soft she moved. They took in that the princes were bad dancers, though. After a while, they lost track of Kaoru, so they watched other people instead. Quite a few times, Kagome was asked to dance, but she refused; she doesn't like to dance in front of other people. Getting bored, Sango suggested to go down to the beach.

“Swell, how do we get past the…Oh, never mind.” Kagome said, eyeing the sleeping guards.

“Gee, the guards sure are lousy here.” Sango exclaimed.

“That doesn't matter, just as long as we can get outta here.” Kagome murmered.

“True.”

Kagome and Sango almost jumped out of their skins when a voice said,

“Hello, I am Princess Kaoru.”

“Oh, I, uh, I…I'm Princess Kagome.” She said shakily.
