Yuki no furu mae ni (Before Snowfall) Disclaimer: I don't own any Inu Yasha or any of his friends, nor do I own
Kenshin. If I did I would be rich. I do however own Yuki and will be extremely upset if you take her.
Part 1 - The Meeting
Kenshin knelt beside the body of the girl he had just killed. The sword protruding from her chest had returned to its original rusted form, the jewel no longer alive with light. She had killed many yet he still felt his own pain at killing her. He could not help but remember the complete change that occurred when the sword pierced her heart. The menace had left her voice, leaving it clear and pure as a child's. The red had left her eyes showing him their original color, the grey of a sky before snowfall with swirls of crystal blue. He closed his eyes, and saw her face before him, asking why he was hurting her. It was almost as if she had become a totally different person. He felt two presences approaching but made no move.
They came from opposite directions. From the west came a tall man with a cascade of silver white hair and golden eyes, walking with all the grace of royalty, his handsome face was a mask showing no emotion. From the east a man of more rugged nature with his long raven hair pulled into a high ponytail, there was sadness in his blue eyes. They stopped on either side of Kenshin but he did not look at them. The dark haired one knelt across from him, putting on hand on her pale throat. He looked up at the other, "She's really dead this time."
Kenshin's eyes flashed open; he could now see that the hand on Yuki's throat was clawed as hers were. "What do you mean this time?"
The one kneeling gave him a consoling glance but did not answer his question. "Who are you?" the samurai demanded.
"Who we are is of no consequence." The voice of the tall one was as regal and emotionless as his face.
"Then tell me at least who she was."
The dark stranger nodded. "I think we owe you that much at least."
The other man turned and began to walk away in a swirl of silk. "Fine. Bring her Kouga."
Kouga gave Kenshin a small smile. "Remove the sword Kenshin,"
Kenshin looked at the man in disbelief, "Remove it? That is what awakened her."
The stranger shook his head, "You will understand soon. Trust me. Remove the sword."
Reluctantly Kenshin pulled the sword from the body, Kouga took Yuki in his arms, heedless of the blood he was getting on himself, and rose. "Come with us."
Kenshin hesitated. All of his instincts were screaming that he not trust these two. Kouga sensed his hesitation and paused, "Do not worry. Come now, hear Yuki's tale and tomorrow we will take you to one who will make you the sword you are looking for."
Amazed that this man knew so much about him and very curious about the girl he had just fought, Kenshin followed him back to the town Yuki had destroyed.
