They saw the temple from a far and D's face became like a face of stone. This was it, this was the final battle between him and Carmilla and he was destined to make it the absolute last, even if it killed him. "I am sorry my wife, but this is how it must go." he thought with sadness engraved in his heart and soul. And if they wanted to be on top they had to feed. He found some mountain rabbits and whilst sitting back to back they fed on the raw bloody meat. And then they fed each other with blood. In a very heated moment they were totally unaware of their surroundings. D had his fangs in her throat and Sango had found her bite on his shoulder, both sucking to get more strength. D could feel the purity of her blood inside his veins and it was like an electrical frizzle. He actually wanted to giggle. He removed his fangs and felt her do the same.

- Are you ready my love? he asked.

- As ready as I can be mate, said Sango.

She moved to kiss him and for a few seconds the time stood still.

- Let's cleanse the world from some shitty vampires, said Sango as she pulled away. - Especially that queen bitch of the undead.

- Be careful wife.

- You too mate.

He nodded and felt his heart twist in pain.

The temple was heavily infested with vampires; many of them had gone too far into their vampiric state. In Sango's and D's trails lay piles of grey dust. A few was only wounded, they could be saved if Carmilla was killed, expelled from the face of the earth. Sango's giant boomerang swept through the eerie halls of the temple and as it swoop the grounds she used her sword to kill those who attacked her. Her purifying powers were a very much welcomed gift. She could just cut the vampires, and those who were lost were killed in an instant.

D had gained some of her purifying powers, but not as much. His long sword worked side by side with Sango and for a microsecond he was certain that he would survive this so he could live together with her and their child forever. But when he saw the bloodied form of Carmilla's spirit his hopes disappeared like a drop of rain in the ocean.

She walked down from the altar where her coffin was placed. Her mouth twitched as her face got twisted in a gruesome smile.

- D, we meet again, she said with a sly and seductive voice as her steps moved to the ground. She left a trail of blood behind her.

- Carmilla, this will end tonight, said D.

- My dear D, have you not learned that I can not be killed. Not by the living and not by the dead.

- It does not matter, it will end.

- May I ask who your companion is? She is strong for a lowly human, said Carmilla as she moved over to look more closely at Sango when she fought against her army of vampires.

- She is the strongest person I have ever met, perhaps even stronger than me, said D with pride hidden in his voice.

- Is that so? How interesting… Carmilla purred evilly.

- You will not fight her; your fight is with me.

- Then get ready filthy half breed, because I will not go easy on you.

- I have not expected it.

He raised his sword and got into a fighting position. Carmilla smirked as she raised her hands and attacked D with her blood red claws. They rushed together with a haunting sound. Metal against undead claws and flesh.

Sango dusted the last of the vampires in line and turned her glowing green eyes towards the clashing titans. The undead bitch was fast, and D had trouble keeping up with her movements. Sango's heart raced inside her chest when she saw the fearless gold red eyes of D. It was then she knew. The vision came from clear blue sky. He had not intended on getting out of the temple alive. He was going to meet his end in these halls of blood and darkness. She tried to move but her body was frozen in terror of her realization. "D!! D!!!" her mind screamed with heart ache. She felt wetness on her cheeks and she knew that she was crying heavily.

The fight went on, D was tiring but he refused to give up against Carmilla. She would not have the pleasure of seeing him go down. But in a weak moment when he looked at Sango, just to make sure that she was safe, Carmilla managed to knock the sword from his hand. The next thing he knew was a soul searing pain inside his chest. She had rammed his own sword into his body.
