had been a few weeks since that day. Kagome remembered every detail perfectly, the pain the warmth, everything. But nothing on her changed, she still looked, felt, and acted the same. `I haven't changed at all, maybe it was just a dream.' Kagome thought as she walked down the dusty dirt road. But inside she knew better, it was just too real to be a dream. `I shouldn't worry about that now; I have jewel shards to find.' She thought with determination. As she walked down the dirt path Sango came up to her and said

 

“Kagome-chan, what's wrong, ever sense you came back from your world you've been acting very strange, you are barely talking.” Sango said with a voice laced in worry.

 

“Hmmm, oh it's nothing Sango…my mom and I just had a fight, that's all.” Kagome said trying to sound cheery and light-hearted, Sango wasn't fooled. Eyeing her friend worriedly she only gave a small “ok” and kept walking. As the day seemed to pass Kagome started to feel strange as if she was changing. But the feeling was like someone was changing her, making her different from the inside out. It didn't hurt, it made her once again fill with warmth, it made her feel happy and strong. She actually liked the feeling of being able to protect herself, but why did she feel this way? Was it because of the bite she had gotten from that wolf? As her thoughts drifted to the young man she saw her senses started to tingle.

 

“Inuyasha there are three shards heading this way, and fast.” Kagome said. Everyone in the group knew who was coming, each dreading his arrival. As the whirlwind of dust and rocks sped toward their group Inuyasha placed himself in front of Kagome. A low grunt was heard as Kouga landed on top of Inuyasha's head, dirtying his hair.

 

“Hey Kagome, I caught your scent and thought I'd come visit you.” Kouga said, bringing Kagome's hands into his own. Giggling wryly Kagome said

 

“Gee Kouga, that's sweet of you.”

 

“I had to see my woman.” Kouga said with a wolfish grin.

 

“Get off me ya wimpy wolf!” Inuyasha barked.

 

“Oh…hey dog turd.” Kouga said boredly. Standing up quickly and pushing Kouga off Inuyasha said

 

“What th' hell are you doin' here ya rabies infested wolf!” Before Kouga could say a word a growl poured free from Kagome's lips. Both Inuyasha and Kouga looked over at Kagome to see silver draining free from her eyes, turning them back to their usual chocolate brown. “Ya feelin' alright Kagome?” Inuyasha asked curiously.

 

“Uh ya I'm fine, sorry about that Inuyasha.” She answered with a giddy giggle.Staring wide-eyed Kouga thought

`What the heck? Could kagome be a demon? Heh that would just be another reason to take her as my own.' Pushing Inuyasha aside Kouga walked up to kagome, once again taking her hands in his own. “Kagome I have to leave for now but I promise I will come back for you.” Turning he sped off, shouting behind him “Oh and don't you touch my Kagome while I'm away!” Growling Inuyasha turned to Kagome and shouted

 

“Why do you let him do that if you don't like him, huh!?”

 

“Because I don't want to hurt his feelings Inuyasha!” Kagome shouted back with a little more attitude then he was used to.

 

“Feh, whatever, lets just keep moving!” He ground out, turning and marching ahead. Almost growling again Kagome followed Inuyasha, fuming.As they were walking Kagome once again sensed a jewel shard.

 

“Inuyasha there's a jewel shard heading this way.” Readying himself for battle he shouted back to Kagome

 

“How many, only one?” Rolling her eyes she replied

 

“Hai, only one.” Then out of the bushes charged a large bear youkai. He was about two stories high and a dark mud brown. His long sharp fangs hung out of his mouth glistening and dripping with saliva.

 

“Give me the shard girl and you won't get hurt.” It roared.

 

“Over my dead body!” Kagome yelled.

 

“That can be arranged.” It said with a deep chuckle.

 

“Yo demon, she aint your opponent I am!”

 

“Fine! I'll just get rid of you first.” It growled, swinging its massive paw at Inuyasha. Jumping out of the way Inuyasha shouted

 

“Kagome, where is the shard?” Looking over the fighting bear youkai Kagome saw the twinkle of the shard embedded in its neck.

 

“It's in its neck Inuyasha!” she yelled. Watching as Inuyasha smirked and said “That's one hell of a place to put a shard!” Drawing back as if to release the kaze no kizu he watched the Hiraikostu slice the bear's head straight off its shoulders. `Good, the distraction worked.' He thought. Kagome ran quickly to retrieve the shard, purifying it instantly with her touch.

“Well, great job everybody!” Kagome said cheerfully, giving the group a big toothy grin.

 

“So Inuyasha can we find a place to set up camp now?” Shippou said with a yawn.

 

“Ya, sure brat.” Inuyasha said gruffly.

“Hey! Don't call me a brat!” Shippou whined, latching himself onto Inuyasha's ears.

 

“Hey, get the hell off me you stupid kitsune brat!” Inuyasha said, yelping in pain as if one of his ears had been ripped off by the murderous kitsune on his head.

 

“Not until you say sorry you baka!” Shippou said with a cocky smirk.

 

“Shippou stop that! You know Inuyasha doesn't like it when you pull his ears.” Kagome said sternly.

 

“Ok.” Shippou sighed, letting go of his ears. Growling again Inuyasha and the group set out to find a spot to set up camp. Soon they were set up, the day fading into nothing more then a memory until the next morning.

 

“Kagome-chan, could you go out and get some water for the stew.” Sango said hopefully.

 

“Sure Sango-chan, ill be back in a little while.” So walking into the forest with a few of her canteens Kagome went to look for a stream. A few minutes passed and the moon had started to show. `Wow! What a beautiful full moon, it's just like then one I saw when I was bitten.' Kagome thought. As the moon came out fully Kagome seemed to be frozen in place. Then it happened. She felt an agonizing pain rip through her gut and she fell to her knees. Opening her eyes they began to bleed silver, overcoming the soft chocolate brown.

 

`I-I'm changing, I have to get away from the group!' Kagome thought urgently. So getting up quickly she sprinted blindly into the forest. As she ran her hair began to grow longer, down to her knees and started to change to a deep rich gold. She was whipped with twigs and branches but the cuts immediately healed. Next her legs began to pop and crack, forming the leg of a wolf, making Kagome fall. Her arms then did the same. She was filled with an agonizing pain as her tail began to grow and her arms and legs reformed. Once her transformation was complete she got up and ran once again.

 

She was truly a sight to behold with her flowing golden fur and tail and metallic silver eyes flecked with a light blue. She ran until she couldn't anymore, stopping in a clearing, panting. Looking up at the moon she let loose a howl full of pain, sadness and grief. The moon she once loved was now hated because it changed her into this monster. Glaring at the full moon a bright red luminescent tear slid down from her silver pools, wetting her golden fur. `Why, why me?' was all she could think as she let one last pained filled howl pour from her lips.
