Chapter 2-The Set Up
Kagome fallowed the detective as he lead her up the massive stone staircase.
She estimated it was the same length as her own, give or take a few steps, though the trek didn't bother her, the silence did.
It felt awkward an unnerving to her.
“So what is your old teacher like?” Kagome asked in hopes of killing the silence.
“Old, loud, stubborn, bitchy, strong and a fucking slave-driver. She used to try and kill me, literally! She said `We aren't working up to your limit, we are working past it, and facing near death makes you stronger! Now shut up slacker!' she was a complete bitch when she trained me.” Yusuke's emotions flashed across his face, anger, pride, joy and excitement.
“But despite it I enjoyed waking everyday wondering `What has the old hag got in store for me today?' and I loved the feeling I got when I felt myself getting stronger, it was a constant thrill!” Kagome glanced at his face and in that instant she saw a similarity between Yusuke and Inu-Yasha.

No they definitely weren't the same soul (at least she thought) it was the familiar shine that was trade of Inu-Yasha when he had pushed himself past a certain point, when he had defeated Ryukosusei that glimmer had shown up in extreme measures.
“That must have been an adventure…” A wistful tone had entered her voice.
Yes, just imagine telling a psychiatrist `Yeah, I miss battling demons and fighting beside my hanyou crush.' She would be locked up before she could sneeze.
Kagome's eyes roamed over the expanse of the temple. Her eyes fell on the main entry inside the house.
She knew Yusuke was half demon, but she had brushed it off thinking he probably doesn't know, but now she was beginning to second guess that assumption, due to the two full demons and an indistinguishable that was a mix of human and demon that gave her a migraine the longer she tried to figure it out.
The aura that was completely human was also the one with a high amount of spirit energy.
Though holy and spirit energy had some differences they also had many similarities, and it made her wonder if this Genkai could possibly teach her.
Kagome admired how well the spirit energy was controlled.
Just as she was about to ask Yusuke what he was waiting for, the sound of a shoji slamming open caught her attention.

Just as she was about to ask Yusuke what he was waiting for, the sound of a shoji slamming open caught her attention.
The old woman with dulled pink hair and very short in stature running out and immediately attacking the detective left her in a slight stunned state.
She could already tell Yusuke was holding back some of his power as he fought back. Her eyes widened when a blue orb shot in her direction, had she been anyone else, it would have hit her, but due to fine tuned reflexes she dodged just in time.
“Holy…” Her eyes went back to the two fighters, but a loud crack and the sound of a tree coming down caused her attention to immediately divert to avoid the falling foliage.
Yusuke seeming to just realize Kagome was there and he nearly killed her (twice) became open, which Genkai immediately took advantage of. With an `Oomph' Yusuke slid back a few feet from the impact.
Regaining is footing he ran over to see if Kagome was okay. Seeming to just notice her presence Genkai and Yukina, having been caught up in the fight and Yusuke, nearly paled. (Genkai more discretely)
Genkai then noticed the Girl's once dormant aura flared.

Genkai then noticed the Girl's once dormant aura flared.
Kagome gripped her head as it began throbbing.
“Yeah I'm fine, just get better aim.” Kagome hissed as her felt a sharp stab like feeling; it was repetitive as if something was trying to get in her mind.
The shikon was officially pissed; it's guardian was being attacked mentally by the incompetent hybrid, and it was hurting her causing the shikon to become unbalanced at the prodding of the jyaki of the evil eye.
Sending a sharp and swift surge of power through the forced link it hummed in satisfaction when it felt the hybrid's pain. The link was abruptly cut.
Hiei hissed as the feeling of the energy shot back was similar to a knife gouging his jagan. Pressing the heel of his hand to his eye he pressed it against his forehead.
Kurama whipped around as did Yukina when they heard Hiei's hiss of pain, it was slightly unnerving to see him on one knee clutching his head, trying to prevent himself from lashing out and transforming.
When the pain finally ebbed away he pulled his hand from his head to see blood, he yanked off the bandana seeing as it was soaked in blood.
Yukina gasped the jagan was red and shedding tears of blood.
“Hiei!” She had worry saturating her voice as she tried to help him but was stopped by Kurama.
“Don't the jagan is very sensitive and will lash out, I think it better if I help, something must have backfired.”
“Yes, for example, trying to pry into the girl's mind, next time Hiei won't go prodding into people's minds, it was a lesson learned.” Genkai stated as Yusuke fallowed the unconscious Kagome in his arms.
She had passed out due to the pain from Hiei's intrusion, it had been the first time someone had tried to break into her mind. Goshinki was different, his eyes could see past your barriers and mind blocks it being his specialty.
“Get inside.” Genkai snapped, everyone did as told and entered the building.
Kagome felt like some one ran her over and decided to back up for good measure.
Her head throbbed in a dull pain as she got up; a groan of pain escaped her as she sat up.
She clenched her eyes shut as she tried to remember where she was.
She felt eyes boring holes into her, so she took a chance and pried back her lids, her eyes watered as the light caused her eyes and head to throb painfully.
Finally adjusting, she turned her gaze to the person in the corner. He had spiky hair with a white star burst and wore black pants with four white belts and a black tank top.
White bandages were wrapped around his head the stark white was tainted red where his third eye was.
The jewel hummed in distaste for the demon.
“What is your problem?!” Kagome snapped, getting agitated with his glare.
“You are the one who caused my jagan to attack me, and you ask what I have against you?” He practically spat.
“You started it asshole! I didn't mean to, maybe you should try keeping your eyes or eye to yourself!” She snapped back.
Hiei's eyes narrowed at her accusation.
“I was merely trying to erase what you saw to prevent unwanted questions and you blabbing off to those human reporters!” Hiei was getting more then aggravated by the girl.
“Yeah, well I want my memories, so keep your eye out of my head!” Kagome felt her anger rise at him, the bastard had some nerve!
The door to the room was opened and Kurama entered, having heard the yelling and came to check on them so as to prevent the other two from coming in.
Both sets of eyes were focused on him and glaring, upset that he interrupted them.
“The two of you might wish to stop flirting for the moment and think reasonably.” Said the peace maker.
In truth he was disappointed in Hiei and slightly upset with the girl.
“You both had an active part, though I am slightly disappointed in you Hiei, first for acting like Yusuke and jumping in before analyzing it, and for pinning it fully upon the girl. I am also upset that you,” He referred to Kagome. “For attacking Hiei, his mind intrusion shouldn't have hurt enough for that.”
Kagome nearly attacked the red head.
“What the fuck you mean it `shouldn't have hurt that much' It felt like he was stabbing my brain!” Kurama was intrigued by what she had said; Hiei's evil eye would only hurt to those whom had a mind barrier and a sixth sense or holy power.
`I don't sense much power, but she could be shielding it…' Kurama thought, in truth he was close yet so far with his reasoning.
The Shikon no Tama was the real reason he could not sense much, it was absorbing much of her power into storage much like Koenma's pacifier, and it also produced a shield of its own. Contrary to many beliefs, the shikon had a will and mind of its own, as had been proved in the final battle, and many other times.
Kagome had been the second to notice its wants, Kikyou being the first. Naraku soon figured out the Shikon's yearnings.
The shikon wanted balance, and Midoriko's soul wanted Kagome as did the others, though both for different reasoning.
“Interesting…” Kurama whispered to himself.
Genkai interrupted Kagome before she could ask what he found interesting.
The psychic turned to the two demons.
“Out, now, I wish to talk to the girl with out your prying.” Kurama and Hiei left, though others more grudgingly.
Once both had left and she was sure they weren't within hearing range she turned her attention back to the girl.
“What exactly was that surge of power and why the hell is it gone? I know for damn sure that you don't have enough control to shield yourself fully.” Genkai said taking a seat in front of the girl.
“I-I don't really know what your talking about.” The excuse sounded weak to even her ears.
“I am sure Hiei didn't do that much damage when he rattled your brain, you just must think I am stupid or you are.” Kagome bristled at the blatant insult.
Spending so mush time with Inu-Yasha was Kagome's downfall right then.
“Hell, I don't know! For all I know the fucking jewel could be the one doing it! The dammed thing has a mind and will of its own! I can't control it!” Kagome stiffened and her eyes nearly fell out of her head.
“Yeah I'm fine, just get better aim.” Kagome hissed as her felt a sharp stab like feeling; it was repetitive as if something was trying to get in her mind.

She wanted to crawl into the darkest hole she could find; she had just about declared she carried one of the most powerful objects to exist. She hated Inu-Yasha right now; he was the one who rubbed his rash and brash none thinking onto her.
Genkai nearly smirked, now she was getting somewhere. Apparently the girl was quick to temper when insulted, winding up with her telling things she normally wouldn't. Genkai was sure she couldn't do it a second time with the girl's guard up.
It was time for a new approach.
“What jewel? And don't even think about lying to me or I'll get Kurama in here with one of those plants of his to force it out of you.”
Kagome was stuck between a rock and a hard place, on one hand she could make a break for it, but then again, she probably wouldn't get very far, she could tell the psychic, but that would be a risk as well and finally she could refuse to say a word. Guess her choice.
Kagome pursed her lips and kept her mouth shut, glaring at the old woman whom returned the favor.
Genkai nearly sighed; she should have known the girl would be difficult. Well there was only one option left now.
“Fine be that way, but your not leaving until I get the answers I want, even if I have to personally restrain you.” Kagome still kept quite, let them do what they want, she wasn't telling them anything.
Yukina stared at the door that lead into the girl's, Kagome's, room. The girl had been there for three days and hadn't said a word, and Yusuke was worrying about her, even though he didn't blatantly show it.
The only interaction she had with the girl was when bring in meals, Genkai saying `she probably won't tell if we starve her, more likely to clam up and die, and you can't get answers out of a corpse.'
Yukina reached forward and knocked, she wanted to talk to the girl herself; maybe they were going about it the wrong way, maybe if they just talked to the girl instead of demanding…
She opened the door when there was no answer, what she saw was not what she was expecting.
Kagome was curled up in a ball with the blanket around her as she slept.
Yukina stared at the girl, the glasses had been removed so they wouldn't interfere and break while the girls slept.
Kagome looked absolutely harmless as she slept, Yukina even ventured as far as to say, she looked fragile curled as she was.
A blush began to creep upon the bridge of her nose when Kagome shifted revealing she was only wearing her undergarments, most likely trying to prevent wrinkles in her clothing and hinting she slept.
The girl was stubborn and probably though they would try to pull answers or attack her when she was asleep.
The even breathing of the priestess was small and hush, her lips were parted and her hair was fanned out, the rise and fall of her chest was hypnotic and Yukina couldn't seem to pull her eyes away.
The koorime's face was stained with a bright blush as a lump formed in her throat. Forcing her eyes away from the girl Yukina turned around and practically ran out the door, shutting it silently behind her, so as not to wake her.
The blush was stubborn and refused to leave her face as she entered the main room, the memory of the peaceful priestess was running around in her head keeping the blush on her cheeks.
And no matter how the koorime tried to think of something else the image just resurfaced.
Genkai and Kurama gave her an inquisitive look, while Hiei just gave her a glance and turned to the window which he had been previously staring out of.
Yusuke was the one to voice everyone's unasked question.
“What the hell are you blushing for Yukina?” He asked being his normal blunt self, which Yukina was beginning to wish he didn't have.
“N-nothing.” She squeaked running into the kitchen. Kurama raised an eyebrow at this display, deciding to get to the bottom of it, since the rest would have less tact, or wouldn't go at all.
When he entered the Kitchen Yukina had her face hidden behind her hands.
“Yukina is there anything you wish to tell me, I won't condemn you for speaking it. It is better to tell someone then bottle it up. Did something happen with the girl? Did she do something that upset you?” Yukina shook her head.
“No, she didn't do anything; she would have been oblivious if she had anyway.” Now that piqued Kurama's attention.
“Why would she be oblivious, Yukina?” He gently pried her to speak.
“You have to promise you won't go in there first.” Yukina stated finally removing her hands from her face.
“You have my word if she didn't do anything I deem inappropriate I won't go in there.” Yukina knew that was the best she would get out of the stubborn Kitsune.
“She was asleep when went in…and I don't know I just began to blush…i-is there something wrong with me Kurama?” She asked almost pleadingly.
Kurama felt the slight haze clear from his mind, and yet he couldn't believe what he was hearing.
Only once had the kitsune felt this, and that was when he had felt lust toward an older woman when he was little, and now to find out Yukina had a crush on the priestess was slightly amusing and unnerving.
`Oh Hiei is going to love this, his innocent little sister has a crush on the girl he dislikes.' Kurama would be sure to tease the hybrid about this revelation.
“Yukina, nothing is wrong with you, it is quite normal actually, you simply have what humans call a `crush' on the girl. It is slight feeling of lust and very slightly love, it could develop, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes this becomes a first love, and sometimes it fades.” Yukina looked slightly better, but still looked nervous.
“So, I have this `crush' feeling for Kagome-san, does it hurt?” she asked due to the name she had her slight suspicions.
“Sometimes, but not all the time. It can sometimes feel quite good.” He stated, though he wasn't sure how things would happen it was better to know both sides of the feelings.
“Thank you Kurama-san, I appreciate your help, but I need to make dinner.” Kurama nodded and left.
When he sat back down all eyes were on him wondering just exactly what he found out.
`What was it, fox?' Hiei mentally nudged Kurama.
`Yukina has developed a crush on a certain someone.
At first Hiei thought it to be the fox, but then why would she tell him? Then he thought more about it and came to a conclusion.
`It is Yusuke, isn't it?' Hiei felt slightly jealous and some other unknown emotion. Ever since the detective had broken it off with the ningen he had slowly been making advances, but if his sister wanted him, he would back off.
Kurama saw the look that passed though Hiei's eyes as he glanced at the detective from time to time, whenever he thought no one would see.
`No. Actually its someone else.' Hiei was puzzled, who else could it be? He some how doubted it was Genkai, and that left only the girl.
`Bingo, we have a winner.' Kurama smirked at the look Hiei sent him.
Hiei would have preferred anyone else, even Kuwabara was better! The baka at least returned would have returned his sister's feelings.
Genkai nearly smirked, now she was getting somewhere. Apparently the girl was quick to temper when insulted, winding up with her telling things she normally wouldn't. Genkai was sure she couldn't do it a second time with the girl's guard up.

`This better not be some joke fox, or I will make you regret ever meeting me.' The threat Hiei was giving was not to be taken lightly.
`Of coarse not Hiei.'
Hiei decided it was time to see how accurate the fox was.
Kagome woke up with bleary eyes and a headache. `Crap.' Was her first thought, she couldn't very well ask for Tylenol, then they would want to know something before they gave it to her.
The sound of the shoji sliding caused her attention to turn to the intruder. It was the small ice maiden.
Yukina carried the tray o food in one arm while shutting the door with the other, trying not to look at Kagome's nearly naked body.
The rustling of fabric was heard as Kagome put her clothes back on.
“Uhm, are you finished?” Yukina asked in a slightly squeaky voice, mentally scolding herself for the obvious mistake.
“Yeah, you can turn around, even though why you were facing the other direction baffles me. Its nothing you haven't seen before.” Yukina's eyes widened, did Kagome know she came in while she was asleep and got more then enough of a good view.
“I mean we are both girls.” Yukina visibly relaxed and let out a breath she hadn't even known she was holding.
“Y-yes, here is your dinner, I will be leaving now.” Just as Yukina was about to leave, Kagome stopped her.
The priestess had been getting lonely, having spent most of her life around people and Shippo rubbing his kitsune natures onto her hadn't helped either.
Kitsune were notorious for being sexual and surrounding themselves with company.
And many had died from being lonely, this was a main reason foxes hated being in captivity.
“Can I ask you something?” Kagome set the tray of food she had relieved Yukina of down beside her.
“Hm?” Yukina didn't trust her voice.
“Well, would you mind keeping me company, I am similar to a kitsune in certain ways such as I can't stand being alone.” Yukina felt her heart speed up, and she scolded herself for looking to much into it.
“Sure.” The ice maiden whispered turning around and sitting down.
Kagome blinked at the fast pace had sat in and fidgeting Yukina did.
Picking up her drink Kagome took a sip.
“So, what are they doing?” Yukina didn't have to ask who `they' were she knew she had meant the others who were waiting for answers.
“Well, they are still waiting for you to give them the answers they want, and Yusuke isn't aloud to see you since he wants to get you out, and he somehow thinks its not noticeable.” Yukina fidgeted with the hem of her kimono, Kagome hadn't put the glasses back on. For some reason she felt more bare when Kagome stared at her without the thick glass covering her blue eyes, yet the ice maiden preferred the girl without them.
“Hm, well maybe I should tell them so I could finally leave.” Yukina felt her heart suddenly stop and clench painfully in her breast.
“But, that wouldn't be good for my pride, and hell if I am going to wound it.” Yukina felt her heart begin beating again, it was unnerving how Kagome could cause her heart to stop and her to feel pain with out even touching her or meaning to.
Kagome leaned back staring at the ice maiden, she had to admit, the girl was cute, and was her type, but nothing…clicked.
“Well, I guess I'll be here for a while, huh?” Kagome sent the girl a smirk.
Yukina felt her heart beat faster when Kagome gave her a cocky smirk.
“Eh, um, yes.” Yukina stuttered feeling her blush coming back full force.
“Hey, are you okay?” Kagome asked leaning forward to press her hand against Yukina's forehead.
When the cool hand pressed against her heated flesh deliciously Yukina almost leaned into the touch, but held herself back, but she couldn't hold back her growing blush.
“You so feel warm, maybe it was a bad idea to ask you to stay, you might want to get some rest.” Kagome stated.
Kagome got up and pulled the ice maiden with her. Kagome had never really been `confined' to that particular room, she just didn't want to leave and have to be near them more then necessary.
“I-I am fine, your right, I should get some sleep I probably am catching something, good night.” Yukina bolted out the door as soon as she could.
She breathed a sigh when she was safe back in her chambers, away from Kagome. Yet the ice maiden found herself missing the presence of the priestess.
Authors Note: Wow, this is becoming a longer story then I had anticipated, so much for that, I am going to try and cut it off at 4-5 chapters, I may not be able to, but that's my goal! Reviews are appreciated as well as feed back, flames are not tolerated.
`Of coarse not Hiei.'
Hiei decided it was time to see how accurate the fox was.
Kagome woke up with bleary eyes and a headache. `Crap.' Was her first thought, she couldn't very well ask for Tylenol, then they would want to know something before they gave it to her.
